Will I be reported if I refused to put Callum on formula??

The SCBU nurse just phoned me and said that if Callum hasn't gained weight in 2 weeks, I have to put him onto formula. Apparently the consultant has said this.
I have 30 bottles of high engery formula here which I still haven't given to him (am supposed to topup with 30ml once a day via the feeding tube) but I really really don't want him to have formula...
If we refuse, will be reported to SS for not doing the right thing??

Blinkin' eck! Well both my sisters are expecting next year so maybe we'll set up a rival MN team.

Off for a ryvita and cheese snack to try and reverse the effects of an ENORMOUS piece of chocolate today....I too am not the thinnest daughter but I will be soon.

Misdee, I have a naturally skinny sister as well. Annoying, isn't it?

DD was in SCBU after birth. I was trying to BFEED but it was essential she had enough fluids to flush out toxins in her blood (she had rare condition). I was reluctant to use formula as her brother has severe allergies but when faced with this I agreed to mix.

She weaned herself back on to exclusive Bfeeding within a few weeks and only stopped at 2.5 yrs. Mixing the formula and expressed milk in the same bottle reduced allergies apparently.

he has become a bit fussy at the breast the last few days, I seem to remember DS1 doing the same, hopefully it will pass soon

Boys can be very fussy feeders, sparkly! I should know, I have 3!

sparklygothkat · 27/11/2007 20:03

god i am going mad, I just weighed myself and then again holding callum.. just to see if he has gained anything, according to my scales he is at least 6lb.

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 27/11/2007 23:11

I used to do that! 6lb is good!

sparklygothkat · 28/11/2007 00:02

I am 7st 13, with callum I was 8st 6 1/2 but I can't see how he could possibly have put on over a pound since friday..

all those extra top ups???
perhaps the lack of thw scubu nurse?
you should be eleated i wouldnt query it whatever you have done if its doing the trick!

sparklygothkat · 28/11/2007 00:12

oh today we ran out of fresh EBM and we had company here, so I actually said to DH to give him just 20mls of the formula, that was until DH opened it and sniffed it... he was disgusted with the smell and made me smell it, it was gross, so I dug about in the freezer and found a bottle of frozen EBM and defrosted that and gave him that. The formula went down the sink.

Well done on the formula down the sink.... you are so so so good at this determination malarky!

Buda · 28/11/2007 06:19

He looks great sparky. Hats off to you for your determination. I must admit I would have given in - well done you.

(When DS was a baby I took him to my Mum's GP for something and asked for him to be weighed and the doc pulled out a normal bathroom scales and weighed me and then weighed me holding DS!)

sparklygothkat · 28/11/2007 09:03

Weighing day is tomorrow.. I just hope that he has gain more than 5oz just to shut the SCBU nurse up.
