Carrot, it does taste quite like slimy syrup.. but certainly works a treat! You can keep banana, robin and i updated on your experience with it too.. im sure they will also be interested

hows it going carrot?

verylittlecarrot · 30/09/2007 22:56

oops - missed the question, sorry Determination!

I didn't start taking the stuff till Thursday, and at the same time started pumping with my new electric pump and increasing the frequency of feedings, drinking more water, and also devouring lots of packets of oaty hobnobs (medicinal reasons, you understand .)

Things do seem to have improved, but it's difficult to tell which of the above it's primarily down to! Not that I care, I'm just feeling a bit more relieved that I have some milk. I need a bit of practice at expressing as I'm not a natural, but things were easier today than yesterday, so that's promising!

However, I've had a blocked duct today, so I've only taken half the doses of pondslime. I didn't think it would be too clever to encourage oversupply when my boob is blocked! Fortunately it seems to be clearing and I'm off for a hot bath now to help it further.

And a glass of cold dry white wine. (A new therapy I thought I'd try...)

oh no carrot,,

your doing FAR TOO MUCH please calm down a bit! the blocked duct is very likely due to you over producing now. Remember the amount you can express tells you nothing about how much you are producing.. some mums could feed the world but are unable to express a drop.

Please Please bare in mind that if you are over producing and not emptying the breast fully you run the risk of blockages, mastitis.. and these could lead to an abcess. Just do/take one thing at a time
