Think one of the most obscure has to be halfway up a mountain, outside a restaurant in a complete white out - dd was about 5 months old and we managed it despite the layers of snowsuits , fleeces and jackets ! Pretty cold too.

Gingerbear · 12/09/2004 18:06

YG have you seen the post from janh's daughter in AS - she has found some clothes for you I think.

Gingerbear · 12/09/2004 18:08

In a very posh cafe in Puerto Banus
Holding DD in one arm whilst cleaning the car and chatting to neighbour (who never realised that I waas B/F!!)

In front of the Bayeux Tapestry.

(Actually this is much less racy than it sounds - in the dark, sitting down on a comfortable sofa. But still in front of the BT.)

Heathcliffscathy · 12/09/2004 18:56

MI how cultured!!!!

Demented · 12/09/2004 20:54

Can't beat motherinferior but under the rails of curtain samples in my local curtain shop. Whilst walking round Estate Agent's windows (much to DH's horror). In someone's house when we were viewing it (estate agent showed us round, owners were not there). Also with DS2 he was still feeding when we were on our last holiday abroad, so all the usual holiday locations too. Breastfeeding is sooooo convenient!

kalex · 12/09/2004 21:04

On the top of an open top bus in Edinburgh

highlander · 13/09/2004 00:15

ooh, I'm starting to feel a bit competitive already

wonder where I can go in the next couple of weeks...

highlander · 13/09/2004 00:16

gingerbear, you multi-tasker!

toddlerbob · 13/09/2004 01:36

HMV on Oxford Street
Christchurch Tram
Going through customs at Heathrow Airport, according to the customs officer they look at babies ears anyway as they don't change as much as their faces.
In the middle of a forest whilst lost
In the middle of a kangaroo enclosure

Do I win with any of these?

alexsmum · 13/09/2004 06:17

I think the most bizzarre place I did it was...a sikh temple!! There, that does win a prize??
We were at a friends wedding and ds was 8 weeks old and spent the entire ceremony under my top feeding away( in the foyer i must admit).God I've done it all over the place but finding it hard to remember specifics.Mummy brain I suppose.

Gingerbear · 13/09/2004 06:37

highlander, if I had stuck a broom up my bottom at the same time, I think the neighbour would have been a little taken aback.

merglemergle · 13/09/2004 07:20

In the United Nations building in Geneva.

In an adult education class (quite a lot)

On the steps of Prague Castle (King Ottokar's castle from the Tintin books)

On an open-windowed train going through Snowdonia.

The most surreal place however is definately Portmeirion, on the beach, with dp having to be restrained from running off to shout "I am not a number...I am a FREE MAN..."

clary · 13/09/2004 09:38

Quite impressed with these exotic locations...
I haven't been abroad for years so cannot match you all, but did bf in a train carriage (several times), also watched by a stegosaurus (in a dinosaur park on holiday).

I also did it in my boss's office, much to his dismay (well, it was that, or not be able to continue our discussion due to baby's cries). But even he admitted that I was very discreet and he would hardly have known!

With number 3 I was getting quite adept and could attend to cooking the tea/read to older two/sort the laundry at the same time.

Don't recommend it while ironing tho.

Or answering the door to the postman!!

MancMum · 13/09/2004 10:58

not bizarre but most memorable was in a queue at Tescos when DD would not be comforted without a b/f and the people in the queue behind me and staff put all my shopping on belt, packed it and put it back in Trolley, got money out of bag paid for it and then pushed trolley to car and unpacked it into car for me - all this time DD fed away quite contentedly and I continually thanked everyone for being so nice!!

gothicmama · 13/09/2004 11:01

nicest Tate Liverpool gallery (B?F room was yuch)
strangest the church during my grandads funeral

scotlou · 13/09/2004 11:08

can't beat any of these but:

sitting on a bench on top of a hill
on the ferry going to Ireland
in the office board room during meetings
in the furniture pick up part of Ikea (found a nice chair I could use!)
in the car in Tescos car park - lots!

kbaby · 13/09/2004 11:17

On a bench in the rain holding a brolly in one hand(no where indoors near to breastfeed)
In Barclays Bank while opening DD'S account
Opening the door to the postman
While watering the garden
In loads of carparks

nmd · 13/09/2004 11:24

In train all the way up Snowdon (cheating!)
Just about every beach in North Wales
Portmeirion too
At toddler group whilst joining in with Ring-a-Roses as DD1 just had to do it
wierdest: sitting on a sofa with fil & his partener avidly watching from other sofa...

edam · 13/09/2004 12:36

Also while viewing a house ? the one we eventually bought. Nice elderly woman owner was fine about it, although I was desperate to be able to look round the rooms (and was never proficient enough to walk and feed at the same time).
On a bench on Clapham Common. In the cinema (mums and babies session though so not that unusual). Erm, that's all, I think.

coddychops · 13/09/2004 12:36

school fete?

MarmaladeSun · 13/09/2004 13:06

LOL @ Clary! I wouldn't recommend answering the door to the postman whilst bf either! I did the other day to sign for a parcel...DD decided to take that moment to detach herself from my boob, thus giving the postie a bird's eye view of my nipple! He's seen much worse at my house though...in the midst of giving birth in my living room he walked past the window, and copped an eyeful of my nether regions so postie and me have no secrets! LMAO

MarmaladeSun · 13/09/2004 13:07

Scotlou, the car park at Tesco's has seen me bf plenty too! After an hour's shopping DD is screaming her head off, and there is nothing for it but to feed her there and then.

hewlettsdaughter · 13/09/2004 13:45

At Hatton Country World (a sort of farm with children's activities):
a) while an owl swooped over my head; and
b) on a (very bumpy!) tractor and trailer ride
