In a cell at Robben Island, South Africa. I was on the Nelsom Mandela tour and dd (6 months) was a little hungry.

I've also fed all the way up Snowdon by train - it's particularly tricky if you're facing downhill, but fortunately another passenger noticed and swopped with me so that I was facing uphill.

While getting a massage in an automatic massage chair in the middle of Brent Cross.

Walking around Costco.

Both my children had their first outdoor feeds in Kew Gardens (nothing strange about that, but I liked it).

My weirdest place was sitting on a railing in front of Buckingham Palace during the Changing of the Guards - and the only time that I have ever had passers-by craning their heads around trying to see into my top!

On the packed 453 bus going over Westminster Bridge in London... in the car in a lay-by next to Stone Henge at 10.30pm at night (very dark, starry and surreal!)... Exeter High Street...

Talk about fast food! Lucky babies!

perching on a very small and wobbly wooden bike park at Center Parcs as loads of people cycled past

laa · 13/09/2004 20:11

Not very adventurous but my sister and I did a lot of feeding together (DSs are 3 weeks apart) - during Christmas Dinner, in Costa Coffee, at various parties, picnics etc.
I did at church during my godson's first communion...trouble is I just don't go to many adventurous places!

Under a tree during a thunderstorm on Christ's Pieces, Cambridge. Somehow we both managed to stay completely dry too.

In the Headteacher's office whilst discussing my eldest daughter's progress!
My son enjoyed a feed in front of The Weather Project at Tate Modern and, recently, under the legs of the giant spider. Come to think of it we've had quite a few feeds there - the art must relax us both (when the Bill Viola exhibition was on the room was very dark and you could get quite snuggly sitting on the floor looking at the huge screens). Here am I really thinking of stopping feeding (20 mths now) and this is bringing back loads of great memories such that I am already starting to feel nostalgic!

I have a very boring life so have been no where exotic with baby. My vote for weirdest goes to ToddlerBob for the kangeroo enclosure

In a Department stores furniture section in Texas, U.S . My friend got a nice chair for me to sit on while she comtinued going around the store, picking items off the shelf and bringing them back to me for inspection as to wether i wanted to buy it.
In a church service.
In a photographers studio , it was the only way to stop him crying long enough in order to take the photo

At Tropical World in Leeds. The butterflies kept flitting past so dd got quite distracted but as I say the buffet car is always open!

Arabica · 14/09/2004 11:45

In Spanish art gallery, then DS unlatched himself, took one look at Picasso's Guernica...and threw up. I thought the painting was a bit disappointing too.
He once needed to feed when we were in Sainsbury's and because I wasn't yet very confident about breast-feeding in public (he was only 3 weeks old) I asked if there was somewhere private we could go for a feed. When they directed us to the toilets, where there was a changing station, I politely)asked whether they normally ate their lunches in the loo...and was finally directed to manager's officethe only private room available during building renovations. He was interviewing someone about a job at the timebut happily moved out to accommodate me!

Prettybird · 14/09/2004 11:46

Not strictly breast feeding, but I have expressed sitting on a ski slope and in a crowded mountain restaurant (when the weather was grotty)!

stoo · 14/09/2004 14:25

While walking around Ikea.
Sat waiting for my appointment at the hairdressers (I didn't think it was strange but everyone else in there kept giving me strange looks!)
And everywhere we went - I was never worried about doing IT in public!

Tickle · 14/09/2004 21:28

The milk bar is always open, but today it was behind the wheel of my (stationary!) 1972 Saab while a nice mechanic removed the broken speedo cable.

happycat · 15/09/2004 11:04

I breastfed on the M20 when the traffic was at a standstill for an hour ( blinking thankful that I was breastfeeding at the time too). Again at the hairdressers waiting for the tint to work on my hair.

happycat · 15/09/2004 11:07

Oh and at dd christening she was in a right state and screaming so I took her out into the little porch and fed her their and because she was in such a state it took my ages to get her latched on and plent of boob flashing.Luckt for me we were on our own or so I thought,I had sat dead in line with the C.C.T.V cameara.DUH

californiagirl · 04/11/2004 17:13

In the control room for a Titan missile. (During a tour -- the tour guide looked at us, but thought the baby was asleep.)

tortoiseshell · 04/11/2004 17:16

Whilst goal keeping for a toddlers game of football (not me actually, but a friend)

bundle · 04/11/2004 17:18

having my hair done on my wedding day at toni & guy's, also bfed dd1 by leaning over while she was still in carseat in traffic jam on m-way...

SenoraPostrophe · 04/11/2004 17:38

In the foyer at my wedding reception.

Was mildly embarrassing because I had to get half undressed. Sis held up her muslin scarfe to protect my modesty, but that didn't stop one guest from approaching curiously and then recoiling in horror (muslin worked from a distance, but not close up).

Doesn't beat being in goal though - that's great!

bundle · 04/11/2004 17:41

SP, I had a jacket and skirt combo for my wedding, so it was slightly less embarrassing, but still had to undress a bit. lovely isn't it when you have that kind of confidence?

hana · 04/11/2004 17:43

in Windsor Castle
on the London Eye
leaning over her car seat in back seat of car ( still with seatbelt on - how did I do that?!?!
