Cocaine use whilst breastfeeding

I'm in a major panic. My son (22 months) has been exclusively breastfed from birth, and then from 6 months obviously solid food as well. I love our feeding relationship, even though I am still up several times every single night with him because he loves the boob.
He's never been an easy boy, and last night was my first ever night out since he was born - he stayed with Nanny and Grandad.
I went a bit crazy at all the freedom and ended up having a few lines of coke. The boy is due home in an hour and now I'm panicking. The first thing he'll want is boob but I can't give it to him as I know it's unsafe. I'll have to pump and dump for a while I guess, but the question is, how long for?
I feel like the worst mum ever, as I'll have to deny him the thing that gives him most comfort. Can't believe I was so stupid and selfish.

OP posts:

Please don't assume all posters drink themselves in to a wine induced stupor every night. Many, like me for example, won't drink at all.

JaneEyre70 · 25/06/2017 18:46

I thought I'd read it all on here until this. Lucky you're here today OP to even see your child. As for everyone minimising drug use, shame on you too Angry.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 25/06/2017 18:48

Then it's maybe not the thread for you Northern, why like in when it's something you know bugger all about, other than to cast judgement.

I'm not into bikes, loads of people die in cycling accidents every year. I stay away from cycling threads.

Puppymouse · 25/06/2017 18:55

Interesting point from Avon I was going to say exactly same. My DM thinks I'm irresponsible and selfish for riding my horse when I now have DD. I don't have an answer other than statistically being in a car can be dangerous but I still drive. Diet Coke isn't good for me but I still drink it. I don't ever smoke or drink much and I can't give up every last thing that I enjoy. Admittedly horse riding is legal and I know nothing about cocaine but I think the OP is beating herself up about this enough and could prob just do with some support.

Neutrogena · 25/06/2017 18:58

This thread is red rag to a bull for the more prudish mumsy MNers. I advise they stay off the thread.

alpacasandwich · 25/06/2017 19:00

This thread is red rag to a bull for the more prudish mumsy MNers

Yeah, so uncool compared to those stuffing powder up their noses to have a good time.

NerrSnerr · 25/06/2017 19:01

Oh for fucks sake- thinking cocaine use when breastfeeding is wrong does not make someone prudish.

The thread would be much different if it was about a husband going out and doing coke, there'd be calls of LTB and not allowing him to care for the child while he's on a comedown.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 25/06/2017 19:03

I think this thread would have gone exactly the same way Snerr.

HaylJay · 25/06/2017 19:08

Totally agree wirh Neutrogena.

Sorry you've had so many unhelpful and unnecessary comments.

Feeling bad won't change it, you can just learn from this and don't beat yourself up x

PollytheDolly · 25/06/2017 19:11

Don't be ashamed. No harm done. Most posters have no knowledge of coke, but probably think nothing of sinking a bottle of pinot.

Do be ashamed, yes harm is done, to the OP at least. Same as if she had sunk a bottle of Pinot instead and asked if it were ok 2 hours after, instead of 48 or however long that shit takes to leave your system.

NorthernLurker · 25/06/2017 19:14

If every thread is only full of enabling posts we'll have some really screwed up mumsnetters and some even more screwed up kids.

muckypup73 · 25/06/2017 19:32

Neutrogena, I take it you snort too? there is a good reason that drugs are illegal....

muckypup73 · 25/06/2017 19:33

Neutrogena, I saw a lot more druggies on the pychy ward than I ever saw alchies.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 25/06/2017 19:57

Is there a good reason drugs are illegal though Mucky?

You may want to look into that.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 25/06/2017 20:02

I see no enablement Northern, just some sensible calm advice mixed in with hysteria.

People make choices, they may not always be the best ones, but we do, thankfully, have volition. We don't live in a perfect world, the approach of harm reduction has been consistently shown to be the best, even so far as decriminalisation.

(Which would also regulate supply and reduce harm to those involved in the criminal drug trade, which finances all manner of horrors).

But throwing our arms up in disgust is the best way. It shows us to be more moral beings eh?

seven201 · 25/06/2017 20:05

Blimey I'm shocked at some of the responses on here. Op went out, got carried away and is asking for advice on how to deal with it. She fucked up but is making sure she is not harming her Dc. Well done op for seeking advice. My first night out after my dd i got accidentally wasted as I was just so excited about being out without a baby. It's easily done.

MercuryMadness · 25/06/2017 20:06

I am a long term breastfeeder and I would say stop breastfeeding NOT because the boy is nearly 2 but because the OP is snorting cocaine. What's the point of bfing if you are likely to do a few lines at the same time?

Stop bfing and start being responsible.

You see I never understand people that act like Earth mothers whilst doing drugs. Lots of celebs like that. Obviously it's not the first time OP has done coke and she made a descision to do that but don't go on about extended breast feeding at the same time the two just don't mix.

HattiesBackpack · 25/06/2017 22:34

EachandEveryone I absolutely agree. It's baffling how taking class A drugs seems to be such a grey area! The misery and suffering that the cocaine 'industry' creates -right across the chain from supply to user- is unquestionably abhorrent, so how educated people, who think they are liberal and peaceful, and are keen to make the world a nicer place justify that it's ok to buy the stuff I do not know.

muckypup73 · 25/06/2017 22:43

Eeeeh by gum? thaas not Kerrry Katona is thee???

muckypup73 · 25/06/2017 22:46

ILikeyourHairyHands, is there a good drug thats legal? no? is there a good drug thats illegal? No, no matter what you do, drink, drugs, smoking, none of it is good and none of it healthy, but when we are looking after children, we need to remeber that x

EachandEveryone · 25/06/2017 22:47

What are u on about? It was peaches geldof I was thinking of yes, she was a smack addict but it's still the same hypocrisy

EachandEveryone · 25/06/2017 22:47

I don't think Kerry Catina has ever banged on about extended breastfeeding!

EachandEveryone · 25/06/2017 22:49

And who encourages a mother of a toddler to snort marching powder who are you knocking about with op?
