I'm just about to take DS upstairs now....

I don't expect or hope for anything anymore. I can't be disappointed that way... Hmm

Cannotbelieveit · 12/09/2014 20:08

As my dad says

Expectation = planned disappointment Hmm

Grin

He woke up 35 minutes after he fell asleep but after gentle cuddles and rocking he soon nodded off again on my shoulder. Rather than pug him in his cot I was naughty and bought him into bed with me and as I look at him now sleeping so peacefully I can't help but think he's the most beautiful and precious thing in the world Smile

Cariad007 · 12/09/2014 21:16

I love that realisAtion. I'll sometimes just watch DS sleeping and feel teary because he's growing up so quickly and before I know it he won't be my little baby anymore.

Writerwannabe83 · 12/09/2014 21:20

Oh I know Cariad - I hate it when I have those thoughts Sad

I've told DH he's got to sleep in the spare room tonight because I want to keep DS in with me Grin

AuntieMaggie · 12/09/2014 22:15

Cariad I have those thoughts all the time - on the one hand I can't wait for him to do things like say his first word but on the other I don't want him to grow up. Then I had a really shit thought today when I was thinking about mil that he'll die one day and I got really upset :(

sorry for the morbid thought. ..

I would sleep with ds but when I do I end up cuddling him the whole time and it hurts my arm!

I tried to express tonight as I have a night out coming up but managed less than 30 ml in half hour! The other night I got 60ml in 10 mins so goodness knows why not tonight but I need to stock up if I'm going to leave him!

Cariad007 · 12/09/2014 23:07

Well first spell in his cot lasted two hours before he woke up screaming. Nothing we did would console him so put him on the boobs again. Really don't know what's got into him these oats few days :(

AuntieMaggie · 13/09/2014 00:34

2 hours here too cariad - is it a full moon or something? its normally 4 hours these days...

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2014 02:12

Up 11.50pm and now Confused feeding like a newborn!

This has got to better soon right?!

OP posts:
AuntieMaggie · 13/09/2014 02:36

feeding again here - not even 2 hours sleep!

Sammyviv · 13/09/2014 02:38

Hey everyone
I am a new mummy I have a 2 day old gorgeous boy. Who sleeps all day and does sleep at night but only on me! Every time I put him in his Moses basket he wakes up....anyone have any helpful tips. I know it's day 2 only but I've had no sleep since Tuesday (maybe the odd hour or so but that's it)

Sammyviv · 13/09/2014 02:39

Me too how olds your little one?

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2014 02:57

Welcome Sammy! And congrats!

My ds2 is 19 weeks vas in the throes of the 4 month sleep regression Shock

With the Moses basket I would rock/cuddle/feed baby on you with a blanket wrapped round then transfer to Moses with blanket still wrapped so baby remains warm, tends to work for a lot of people

You could also place a hot water bottle in Moses for a while to warm it up and also have a Muslin on you so it gets your smell on there and put that in Moses so baby can smell you

*and in the throes Hmm

Writerwannabe83 · 13/09/2014 03:32

Congratulations Sammy and welcome!! Is this your first night at home with him??

DS is awake and feeding - well kind of anyway, he isn't too interested. He woke up at 03.15 which I believe to be because he had a nappy that was fit to burst!!! Seeing as I changed him I thought I'd feed him with the idea he'd then sleep well until morning but he doesn't seem to be bothered and instead just keeps making humming noises Hmm

He went 7.5 hours though and would probably gone longer if it weren't for his nappy but never mind. Can't decide now whether to put him in his cot or leave him here on the bed with me...

Writerwannabe83 · 13/09/2014 04:30

He's still awake over an hour later...

This is the problem when he wakes up after a big chunk of sleep, he's wide awake, wants to play and just cries when he's put in his cot. I tried settling him back down in bed with me but that didn't work either Sad

The longer I'm awake the harder it is for me to get back to sleep and it will be getting light outside soon too Sad

bloody babies

AuntieMaggie · 13/09/2014 04:47

Awake again after an hour and a half! Argh!

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2014 05:38

A 3rd wake/feed? This is a new development! Blush

OP posts:
Sammyviv · 13/09/2014 05:44

Hi guys
Oh I'm still awake I think I got about half an hour!
This is my second night at home, last night was worse but I guess that was expected to happen.
I'm going to try the hot water bottle and muslin trick so thank you.
My milk appears to of been coming in today does this mean he's going to feed a lot more now?

Sammyviv · 13/09/2014 05:47

I guess the saving grace is winters coming and it at least won't be as light as the summer months.

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2014 05:50

A nappy fit to burst here!! Maybe that woke him too!

Sammy I found on the first couple nights home my DS fed a few times during the hour to stimulate the milk go come in and when it came it the feeding actually settled down somewhat! For me personally it then was about every 4-5 hours overnight and 3-4 in the day, newborns do sleep lots inbetween feeds so make the most of that! Wink

OP posts:
Sammyviv · 13/09/2014 05:54

Yes I've been worried about how much he sleeps I dîdnt want to miss feeds.
My eyes keep closing as I write this....

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2014 06:08

Personally I never woke my DS in the night if he went longer than 4 hours at he wasn't small at birth (8lb10.5oz) and was gaining well. Some HV/mw will advise waking after 4 hours to feed tho.

DS actually was on and off the boob and is wide awake and ready for the day?! Great

OP posts:
AuntieMaggie · 13/09/2014 07:42

Sorry Sammy welcome. Just remember you have to move the hot water bottle to put baby in the moses basket which is tricky when you're holding a sleeping baby.

DS has now been awake for almost 2 hours after only sleeping for another hour - definitely the worst night we've had for weeks!

DP has gone out and won't be back til lunchtime so no chance of a break or lie in :(

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2014 07:44

DH has taken DS2 to the lounge and is getting DS1 up so I can stay in bed for a bit. DS shouldn't need to feed til 9.30ish.

DH is out tonight so he couldn't really say no!! And I can't come back to bed tomorrow as I've got a wedding makeup trial after lunch and I have loads to get ready for it beforehand as my kit is in such a state Blush
