Here's a fresh thread!

Let's start by introducing us/babies again Grin

I had to take DS out of his cot in the end because my headache couldn't cope with his incessant grizzling and crying. He's now lying on my bed and grizzling. He grizzles if I pick him up and grizzles when I put him down - it's driving me mad.

He isn't wanting to feed either - he seems to be in some discomfort and keeps arching and pulling off the breast. It's like he's got trapped wind but I have tried and tried to burp him but nothing is coming up.

I don't know what to do with him really.

Cariad007 · 09/09/2014 20:20

DS has only had 2 half hour naps today but DP has just managed to put him to sleep so that we can have a bit of an evening. He's done this the last couple of nights but as soon as I go to bed DS wakes up and wants feeding.

Writerwannabe83 · 09/09/2014 20:34

Why are babies so rubbish at napping? They don't realise how lucky they are to have the opportunity to sleep in the day Grin

DS is finally asleep but as per his usual behaviour I'm sure he will wake up in about 30 minutes....

mrsmugoo · 09/09/2014 20:44

Writer those naps look like our every day!

Cariad007 · 09/09/2014 21:10

Because of DS's cold I gave him 5ml of Calpol over the weekend and he slept for 3 hours! I know Calpol isn't a sedative but he does seem to sleep for longer when he's dosed with it. What a shame it isn't good form to drug your child on a regular basis!! ;)

Cariad007 · 09/09/2014 21:11

The 3 hour sleep was during the day btw.

AuntieMaggie · 10/09/2014 02:24

I wish we had a like button so I could like/say me too to the above posts!

One ds aged 10.5 weeks EBF (though gave ds a formula feed last night and it made no difference to his sleep so my HV can do one!) and sleeps for 4 hours initially then 2 at night.

I put on 3 stone when pregnant but lost it quite quickly as it was mainly water. I didn't realise this so packed away my normal summer clothes thinking they would never fit this year so have been walking around looking a mess! I did however put on a stone ttc as i have pcos and still have that and more to lose as I was overweight to start! Though like cariad I am snacking loads and buying stuff I wouldn't normally! my spd is still playing up so it's not like I can exercise either even if I could put ds down!

very broody here and would like a small age gap but sex drive is zero and I don't think we could cope with a really small gap!

cookielove · 10/09/2014 02:57

Hello, ds is four weeks old today and a fan of the night :)

Cannotbelieveit · 10/09/2014 03:44

Oh well still no improvement! Fed just before 1pm and feeding now Shock

Writerwannabe83 · 10/09/2014 04:08

DS has been pretty crap tonight compared to last night.Three wakes up between 8pm and 11pm and then finally a stint of 4.5 hours. I'm just feeding him now and praying he will go back to sleep fairly quickly.

AuntieMaggie · 10/09/2014 05:46

second feed of the night... just waiting for him to drop off enough for me to put him down. much as I wish he would sleep longer I will miss these cuddles when he does.

Cariad007 · 10/09/2014 08:29

DS and I both slept much better last night but he was still up before 8 this morning. At least I got some decent kip though, and don't feel as shattered as I did yesterday. He is now playing in his cot while I have breakfast. He loves being on his front these days and although he can't crawl yet he's able to wriggle his way around a fair bit.

We are going to look at another nursery this morning. I liked the one we saw last week but figured it's good to look at more than one to get a bit more of a feel.

notadoctor · 10/09/2014 08:36

Morning all! Haven't been commenting for a while but have been reading - sorry to hear it's all so up and down!

DS is just over 5mo and EBF. He's generally a very laid back little chap and I can't complain too much about his sleep - usually just one wake up - although he always feeds to sleep and I am anticipating problems when we try to break that habit... Also, lots of changes coming up so not counting my chickens on sleep- we're going to be introducing solids over the next few weeks (BLW) and are talking about moving him to his own room in Oct (although I still can't quite bear the thought of it!)

I also have a DD who is almost 3yo - a total live wire and historically terrible sleeper. They're totally chalk and cheese so far!

Am outrageously broody for DC3 but think DH might take some persuading...

mrsmugoo · 10/09/2014 09:13

A good night here. Down by 7:30. Slept til 4:15 for a feed and then straight back down in his cot til 7am.

I'll take that!

KateTheShrew · 10/09/2014 09:59

Good morning tired mummies...

Despite excellent naps yesterday (1hr mid morning, 1hr 45 mid afternoon) DS woke up 5 times last night!! (6 if you count the re-settle I had to do 20 minutes after he first went down). I fed him the first 2 times. Then at 1am DH took him downstairs and rocked him in the pram. He must have brought him back up asleep at some point because he was in his cot when he woke me up for yet another feed at 4.30. Then he woke again at 6 and DH got him back to sleep in the pram while he got ready for work. DS is napping now... it's tiring work keeping your parents up all night Hmm

KateTheShrew · 10/09/2014 10:01

I've been desperately reading No Cry Sleep Solution so spent quite a while last night trying to "gently unlatch" DS and encourage him to fall asleep off the boob. He was having none of it!

Writerwannabe83 · 10/09/2014 10:44

Another very tired mommy here. DS went back to sleep quickly after his 4am feed but I just couldn't switch off!! I think I lay awake for almost two hours and no matter how hard I tried to stop back off it just wasn't happening!! An hour after I did fall asleep DS woke up again and started crying for a feed Sad

I bought him into bed with me and we both fell asleep and the next thing I know it's 10.30am!!!

I'm sitting here in my dressing gown and I know I need to get myself up and ready but I still just don't have the energy.

Cannotbelieveit · 10/09/2014 10:51

He is napping now after being awake for just over 3 hours straight this morning! Hoping for better naps today! DS1 also napping in his cot Grin

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 10/09/2014 11:07

Enjoy the quiet!!!

I've got a job application I need to do today and it's really long and complicated (I think that's what was stopping me from sleeping) and I'm just praying DS has a good nap at some point to enable me to crack on with it.

Cannotbelieveit · 10/09/2014 12:42

He just managed a 2 hour nap!! DS1 is still sleeping. I got a cheeky 40 mins Grin

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 10/09/2014 13:54

I'm jealous - mine had a 20 minute nap before waking up and is still crying 30 minutes later....

Cannotbelieveit · 10/09/2014 14:22

That is his longest nap for ages tho!

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 10/09/2014 14:27

It's such a nice feeling when they have a good nap isn't it!!!

I've just put mine in the cot in the hope he will go to sleep. Not going to happen but I'm desperate.

Does anyone else think "How on earth am I going to get this baby into a good routine and sleeping well and off the breast milk in time for me to go back to work?!"

Cannotbelieveit · 10/09/2014 14:52

Yes and I'm due back mid feb! I just hope he takes to food as well as his brother!

OP posts:
KateTheShrew · 10/09/2014 14:54

I do writer! I'm going back in two weeks time, but only for 2 days per week. We have no routine and sleep is a nightmare! DH will be looking after him though so hopefully it won't be too much of a disruption for DS. And I'm not planning to stop breastfeeding. I'll express at work at first, but hopefully after a month or so DS will be on enough solids just to have morning, evening and nighttime bf and food during the day (that's the plan anyway). I've been trying to build up a freezer stash of expressed milk but it's so hard to find the time! I'm actually looking forward to going back but am worried about how I'll cope with the tiredness etc.
