Here's a fresh thread!

Let's start by introducing us/babies again Grin

Cariad007 · 25/09/2014 21:22

Bah, DS fell asleep while I was at the gym but only for half an hour and is now resisting all attempts to send him back to sleep Angry This could be a long night...

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2014 21:38

Sammy - just

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2014 21:38

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2014 21:40

Eek - pressed send too soon Smile

Yes Sammy, I am doing anything for an easy life until my interview is over. I will tackle all bedtime issues after that but until then I need my sleep Grin

AuntieMaggie · 25/09/2014 22:45

Have I already mentioned putting the moses basket mattress on your lap and moving the whole thing with baby on it into the basket? (I forget what I've said and what I haven't)

yes sammy breastfeeding babies can take both - infacol is from birth and gripe water later and you can get gripe water in some pound shops! oh and it doesn't come with a syringe or spoon so ask pharmacist for one.

There are other products some which go in a bottle with milk but these two are the most popular.

Writerwannabe83 · 26/09/2014 00:18

First wake up has happened - pretty much to the expected time of midnight too. Let's see how long it takes him to settle off again, thankfully with his first wake up it only takes about an hour Sad

Cannotbelieveit · 26/09/2014 01:45

And we are up for the first feed!

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 26/09/2014 02:11

Two hours after waking and he's still not gone back to sleep. DH had to come and rescue me half hour ago because I had a complete meltdown.

Since 10am yesterday morning (16 hours ago) DS has only had 3.5 hours sleep and I've had an hour.

Is it just a coincidence that things have got this shit from the exact same day we started weaning?

I'm trying to feed DS back to sleep but it just feels so pointless. Even if he does go to sleep he will be awake again in 2-3 hours Sad

OliviaRinHerts · 26/09/2014 03:19

Oh writer - sorry you are having to go through this. Do you think ds could have some kind of mild bug or upset? Can you take him to the GP?

I was awake for first feed at about 2am - had to do nappy change ( DH was meant to do it before ds fell asleep at 1030ish but didn't !) and despite ds Settling pretty well after feed my mind is going overnight and I cannot sleep. Arghhhh! How ironic is that....

Cannotbelieveit · 26/09/2014 04:24

Could be related to weaning I suppose? Maybe leave it for a few days so you can see?

Up feeding again Shock

Writerwannabe83 · 26/09/2014 06:37

He fell asleep just before 3am, so almost 3 hours after he first woke up. He then woke 3 hours later as predicted and he's feeding now. I feel emotionally and physically drained Sad

KateTheShrew · 26/09/2014 08:52

Oh writer Sad I don't have any proper evidence for this at all, but just from my experience with DS, weaning did coincide with really, really disrupted sleep so I wonder if it could be the result of their little tummies getting used to new foods. Is your DS keen on his solids? Do you think he's taking a lot? DS sleep is still not great, but he's better than he was (most nights, touch wood) and he's eating tons of food now so if it is a reaction to weaning it will pass.

Of course just when you're starting solids they're also at the age when they're teething, trying to crawl etc etc so it could be just a perfect storm of big changes that mean they can't settle and solids are just one part of that. Either way, it really, really sucks! Brew and Cake for you.

AuntieMaggie · 26/09/2014 09:41

writer I think i linked to an article earlier on this thread about how it's not sleep regression but them progressing/developing which affects their sleep so it may be linked to weaning and any other skills he's trying to learn. I know this doesn't help you being tired and feeling crap but it made me feel a little better about ds's bad sleep to think of it as him developing.

AuntieMaggie · 26/09/2014 09:46

here it is writer

mrsmugoo · 26/09/2014 10:02

It's still a sleep regression - but explains that they are caused by developmental progressions.

Writerwannabe83 · 26/09/2014 10:13

Thanks guys. I feel knackered this morning but my heart is breaking for DS because he looks absolutely shattered Sad

Just in case it is the introduction of solids (which I doubt as he's had such a minimal amount) we are going to put the weaning on hold over the weekend.

My aim today is try and get DS to nap - his feeble 20 minute catnap yesterday was unacceptable.

Thank you for the article Smile

mrsmugoo · 26/09/2014 10:21

I've done quite a few 48 hour breaks from solids when DS was having green watery nappies just to rule out food intolerances etc...

Writerwannabe83 · 26/09/2014 10:31

Having a baby is hard work isn't it Confused

Sammyviv · 26/09/2014 10:59

Well I hardly slept at all, DS Went down to early last night and then woke pretty much every hour!!!! He's asleep now and I tired to sleep but can't. On top of all this we are trying to plan a wedding! Don't ask!
Writer hope your ok today xxx

Cannotbelieveit · 26/09/2014 11:15

Bloody hard work!!!

DS is napping currently (Altho he had a 15 min cat nap whilst I popped out to slimming world earlier)

I've lost another 1lb so I got my club 10 (I've lost 10%' of my starting bodyweight now!)

Sammyviv · 26/09/2014 12:17

Just reading that article there's a book a friend of mine recommends "the wonder weeks" I've just down loaded the app worth checking out if you haven't already

mrsmugoo · 26/09/2014 12:31

Amazing Cannot! I've lost my first half stone - so I feel I'm properly out of the starting blocks now.

KateTheShrew · 26/09/2014 12:56

I've got the wonder weeks app too Sammy: it's been fairly accurate so far at predicting when DS is likely to be "fussy". (Fussy is their word for it. I might have some different words Grin)

KateTheShrew · 26/09/2014 13:17

Ooh! Well done mugoo and cannot!
