Serious question: why ^are^ many of the pro-b/f amongst you so rabid?

Moondog thinks I'm reasonably intelligent . Will I ever be considered reasonably patronising too? There's a lot of stiff competition out there.

I think the pain of bitten breasts and constant criticsim from bottlefeeders/the public and cracked nipples constant tiredness and hellish attacks of thirst can turn anyone rabid, I was definately rabid Aye rabid and proud!!!

mon the rabies!!!

moondog · 26/08/2006 21:10

Sunny, not remotely surprised by emotive thread titles. (I love 'em!)
Merely surprised that it was Pruni

misdee · 26/08/2006 21:14

budge up JJ.

moondog · 26/08/2006 21:14

Boss,I didn't post again as I left for Turkey the next day and a lot of things happened which conspired to tear me away from MN.

'Twas a great pity but I did manage to potty train my ds in the time freed up from debating thistopic.

Jimjams2 · 26/08/2006 21:18

misdee I was the other way round from you- fed ds1 and ds2 with relative ease, could not feed ds3. I don't have time to feel guilty though (and surely you don't!). I have some (organic) wine now as well- want some?

bosscat · 26/08/2006 21:18

you missed a great ding dong I suggest you look it up on archives and settle in for the night!

NicePairofLegsfromMargate · 26/08/2006 21:18

Oh, I see, you started a discussion thread with a quite obviously sensationalist title and simply never gave it another thought? Riiiiiight

misdee · 26/08/2006 21:20

JJ, not so much guilt now, heck there are worse things i could've done. but at the time, being a failed breastfeeder hurt a lot.

and now just talkign about breastfeeding is making my boobs ache lol.

pass the wine. i have some peanuts here.

beansprout · 26/08/2006 21:22

Ooh, can I join in? Being rabid, I'm foaming at the mouth a bit, but I promise not to dribble. Kettle Chip anyone?

sancerre · 26/08/2006 21:23

NicePair - sensationalist? Not really, seeing as it was Moondog's thread, and most MNers know what MD thinks about food/bf, so not exactly shocking or sensational imo. But MD can fight her own battles I know...

Jimjams2 · 26/08/2006 21:23

ha ha my boobs still ache when talking about breastfeeding, despite the fact I got bugger all out for ds3. I can visualise the feeling, it just never produced anything for poor old ds3.

misdee · 26/08/2006 21:25

its like a bloody fountain [mutters and goes to find breastpads]

moondog · 26/08/2006 21:25

lol at NPOL turning up!

threebob · 26/08/2006 21:25

I was much more "rabid" about bfing when I was bfeeding. I find I really couldn't give much of a stuff now, that part of my life is finished.

I will still be "rabid" about formula companies who ignore the code, and still point this out if I notice a breach - however as I don't go down the baby aisle anymore I am unlikely to see.

milward · 26/08/2006 21:26

I'm a breastfeeding at the moment - not rabid yet - when does this start? Does a good latch prevent it from happening?

NotAnOtter · 26/08/2006 21:28

I do agree with Pruni. An awful lot of the b/f ers on here are oh-so-bloody virtuous.I never quite know which camp I fall into.Am currently breastfeeding a six month old and fed four others before him.I dont love it.In my head I know its best for him but half of me knows it makes bog all difference. No ones gonna thank me for it.I just cant bear the self-congratulatory holier than thou aspect of the 'Mumsnet Breast Brigade' There said it!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/08/2006 21:41

Oh well done.

Anyone else want to lob some insults around?

Get them in while you can. Go on, get it off your chests, so to speak......

moondog · 26/08/2006 21:44

VVV,why do you take it so personally??

NOAcan think what she likes.

Ther are invariably factions on MN that make us roll our eyes.

For me it is the.....no no no NO MD!
Stop there!

NotAnOtter · 26/08/2006 21:45

phew thought i'd killed it with my venom...

bosscat · 26/08/2006 21:49

moondog you are being exceptionally restrained this evening. what on earth is the matter with you. people are settled in with crisps for gods sake!

JennT · 26/08/2006 21:50

Am ready to be REALLY rabid to anybody who is supposedly going to comment on my bf in public!

moondog · 26/08/2006 21:50

Well......I dish it out,but take it on the chin too.

Am surprisingly agreeable person in RL.
