Hey sleepyheads.

Long time no see. It's scary to be thinking about work isn't it?
When I went back with DS (he was one though) I expressed a cup for him to have with cm (never took a bottle) and he fed from me as soon as I got home. To him (and through the night for a while Grin)
It's harder when thy're younger but I would aim to express each morning for the day ahead so you can match his usual feed pattern. Given that this might be tricky, I'd start freezing some now to supplement it and if you need more give any brand of "first" formula. If there's a constipation problem maybe try one with a prebiotic? Also, they can get quite a few feeds in during the time you're with them.
A friend ofmine's baby never took even ebm from a cup and somehow was absolutely fine "waiting" for mum to return.monkeys they are!
Anyway. Just finished first feed since 10pm.
Fingers crossed for some sleep.
Sleepy dust for you all and your little treasures.
Em.

It would seem babythorne wishes to chat.
Oh dear. Not sure about coping with so little sleep Sad

SoYo · 03/07/2013 01:24

Hi Em & the collective

We had a terrible bedtime, screamed for over an hour & now up 2hrs later. It's starting to annoy me that our sleep seems to have peaked at week 13 & is deteriorating week by week since. I'm shattered. Sad

larlemucker · 03/07/2013 02:23

Morning.
Just woke up thinking baby larle had had a good long sleep, very disappointed to discover its only 2am!! However that does mean he has gone 3 hours which is good.

emily, I am crap at expressing! I have found that if I express every morning I can get myself up to 4oz but its bloody hard work. I'm also a bit concerned that I will increase my supply in the run up to leaving him.

My plan is to feed in morning, if possible off both boobs. Express 3-4 times while at work and feed as soon as I get home. Hopefully that will prevent mastitis and keep my supply up. I'm hoping though when I go back in sep to reduce my supply so I can still do the night feed but hopefully not have to pump during the day (eventually). Don't think I'll have time to do a morning feed unless I set my alarm for 5am

lazzaroo · 03/07/2013 04:59

Morning all! Good first part of the night as baby lazza slept from 7pm to 1.30am. She woke at 10 but settled herself. Since 1.30 not so good though, woke again at 3.30. Fed & slept till 4.30. Tried to feed her to sleep in my bed, she dozed for a bit but then wide awake at 4.45. Early mornings are a killer! She'll go back to sleep in a bit but then dd1 will wake up Sad

SoYo · 03/07/2013 05:37

Oh Lazza, if only she'd done that stretch 12.30-7! At least there's hope that she can go that long!

Larle I hate that when you think it's later, it's happening often here, so disappointing!

I put madam back down at 2 & she woke up again and whined but didn't cry so I ignored and she did manage to self settle after about 15mins. She's up again now so not a bad stretch. She's in the travel cot by our bed as the proper cot doesn't fit and she somehow manages to turn herself side on and get wedged and im sure that's half the reason she's waking. Not sure there's any way to stop it though.

lazzaroo · 03/07/2013 05:58

I know soyo, am not really benefiting at the moment! Have agreed with dh that when he's home I'll have atleast one night where I go to bed as early as poss and he'll do any re-settling until she needs to be fed.

Anyway, We're all up now. Cuddled under duvet on the sofa watching wreck it Ralph! Not exactly great parenting but my eyes hurt and sometimes I have to do what will get us through the day. DH away until tomorrow night so we need to survive somehow!

Emilythornesbff · 03/07/2013 08:49

I hear you larle that sounds like a good plan.
I'm not very good at expressing and I find it a bit of a PITA tbh.
Come to think of it I did express at work and it was ok.

Poor soyo it's so disheartening when you think it's going ok then take a backstep.

lazz sounds cosy at yours. Budge up. And that early night plan sounds fab.
We're all having breakfast. So bloody tired. Babythorne was up every couple of hours and it's really wrung me out.
Now off to potty train DS!

SoYo · 03/07/2013 09:19

Lazza snuggly TV watching is one of my lovely childhood memories. Nothing at all wrong with it! I plonk this baby in front of baby TV for 15mins every morning in her bouncer so I can shower in peace so I'm not even there interacting with her! Surely much worse but I feel no guilt!!!

larlemucker · 03/07/2013 09:31

We sit and watch spongebob every lunch time!!

beaver33 · 03/07/2013 12:29

Hello all, I'm a new mum to 7 week old DD and SO happy to have found this thread...can't tell you how reassuring it is - in the nicest possible way - to discover I am not alone in being awake all night long. I feel for all of us!

Having a spate of nights where DD will only sleep for 1 or 2 hour chunks overnight, and won't nap in the day longer than 20 mins so I can't catch up or get anything done. Soooo sleepy and have a blimmin' niggling headache that I can't shift. Meanwhile, DH is chirpily scooting off to work in the mornings with a passing, "she was ok last night, wasn't she,"......Er, no, mate. My tits are as raw as my nerves.

Keep eating because I love chocolate to keep my energy levels up.

To top it all off, took DD out yesterday to a leaving do at work and she slept for a full 3 hours - prompting everyone to declare she was the best behaved baby they'd ever seen - and then woke up all wide-eyed with smiles for everyone, coos and gurgles. Needless to say, the moment the pram was round the corner on the way back home she started to scream Hmm.

larlemucker · 03/07/2013 12:59

Welcome beaver

If you change DD for DS they I could have written your post when baby larle was 7 weeks old it still rings true now and he is 27 weeks

lazzaroo · 03/07/2013 14:12

Hi beaver! congrats on your little one & welcome!

Typical...had to wake baby lazza from her nap this morning, after 1.5 hours, as I hadcto get dd1 somewhere. Home all afternoon & she's asleep again but sods law dictates she'll wake after 30mins!

SoYo · 03/07/2013 17:21

Hi Beaver

I think "my tits are as raw as my nerves" might just be the best quote ever!

tasmaniandevilchaser · 03/07/2013 20:06

Hi again, and hi to beaver! Beaver you are describing what DD was like as a baby, word for word. This time DS isn't much better, I thought DC2 was meant to be easier! Whenever I wind him in the night, he wakes up and won't go back to sleep but if I don't wind him he wakes up screaming later.

SoYo · 04/07/2013 03:18

Evening all,

We've just had a lovely5hr stretch but now I'm failing miserably to get her back to sleep! Swings and roundabouts hey!

Hope you're all snoozing or having nice, snuggly co-sleeps.

larlemucker · 04/07/2013 08:16

Morning!
Go on holiday tomorrow, yay!!!

Baby larle been feeding on and off all night again. I'm getting very worried about when he starts nursery as he only falls asleep on a boob or if rocked after a bottle. I don't know how they are going to get him to nap

lazzaroo · 04/07/2013 08:35

Morning! Usual night here. 2 feeds but up at 5. Then went back to sleep at 6.40 for 1.5 hours! Dd1 away overnight so I got to go back to bed too, lovely Smile

larle does baby larle sleep in pushchair? I worried about the same thing with dd1 as she was also rocked to sleep in my arms but they used to rock her in pushchair and she'd nap there. They had quite a few that didn't nap in cots and it was never a problem. When does he start? Maybe talk to them about it if you're worried and if pushchair naps are an optiontry some at home first? Although they often behave differently in different environment when you're not around anyway! Hope you have a lovely holiday....lots of sunshine on it's way so you picked a good time Smile

larlemucker · 04/07/2013 10:29

Yes he does fall asleep in push chair so maybe that is an option. Still waiting to hear what day I will have off so I can book his days at nursery!!

We're only away for 3 nights, going to Filey. Picked a v good weekend! Although Sunday will be spent watching the Wimbledon final if Murray is in it!!

lazzaroo · 05/07/2013 02:40

Blimey, first feed since she went to bed at 7! never thought I'd see the day!

abi2790 · 05/07/2013 08:58

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Ds has been sleeping through in his own room! Looks like we're finally graduating Grin. I will keep reading all your posts though. Sending lots of sleepy dust!

lazzaroo · 05/07/2013 10:41

Congrats abi. We only had the one feed last night at 2.30am. Given that she was in bed at 7pm I think that's significant improvement! Was up at 5.10am but we can't have it all. Hoping it wasn't a one off as I feel SO much better for a bit more sleep Smile

larlemucker · 05/07/2013 11:30

Well done abi, do pop in every now and then.

We're off on our jollies!!! YAY!!!!????

lazzaroo · 07/07/2013 09:36

Where has everyone gone?! Smile

SoYo · 07/07/2013 20:09

I'm here! Been away at a wedding for the weekend, don't worry I certainly haven't graduated!!!

How are all the babies coping in the hot weather? DD is not loving it. Really grumpy and feeding every couple of hours or so.
