A nice shiny new thread!

Just had the equivalent of a transfer fail, little man was asleep but woke while I was in the toilet. Have given Calpol for the first time tonight as we are trying to cut down, but I'm pretty sure he's in pain and gel and powder hasn't cut it!

We're up for third feed. He does seem to have a pattern for waking at 3 and 5.39.

emily lac consultant today also said that a bedtime routine is really important

MrsNPattz · 26/04/2013 07:59

So I ended up feeding him at 5, he was getting more and more upset and was still upset even when hubby picked him up. Not sure if that counts as a successful night or not, but at least I managed to settle him twice with shhh pat I guess.

That sounds successful MrsN, you managed to settle him and it was the first night!
We were up 3 times last night which is a vast improvement, just hoping it lasts now!!

MrsNPattz · 26/04/2013 08:39

Thanks Larle, glad you saw improvements! Maybe one day we will get a nights sleep eh?? Grin

A nights sleep? Is that foreign?Wink

MrsNPattz · 26/04/2013 09:27

Yes I think so, fancy a trip lol!

larlemucker · 26/04/2013 16:38

Yes please!

Just watched the last broadchurch, OMG!!! Should have seen that coming really! My mum would have worked it out, she was really good at that!

Apparently it's got a second series, not sure how that's going to work.

Baby larle got dunked today at waterbabies, he was not impressed!!

lazzaroo · 26/04/2013 18:45

Good evening all! Am just trying to fill little one up to the brim before bed! Not that it'll make the slightest bit of difference!

She's never All that interested in feeding in the morning...probably because she's filled her boots all night! And when we're out she's so bloomin' nosey that she won't feed properly. Anyone else find this? People say 'if she's hungry, she'll eat' but actually she'll just wait till we get in the car and decide she's actually starving!

Good luck to all for good nights sleep!

MrsNPattz · 26/04/2013 19:25

My cheeky little monkey has started biting me!! And then laughing!! I say no really firmly, and he doesn't laugh when I do this, but still has a very pleased with himself smirk on his face! Any other tips??

OP posts:
larlemucker · 26/04/2013 19:39

MrsN my cousin used to do that (she was a toddler though) and when I was babysitting one night she bit me so I bit her back, she didn't do it again. (I never broke the skin or anything, just wanted her to understand that it hurts) however she was a lot older than your LO. Is it when he is feeding?

lazzo baby larle is exactly the same, getting very easily distracted during feeds. It's a real pain. I've started draping a muslin over his head!!!

MrsNPattz · 26/04/2013 19:43

Yea Larle, it's when he's feeding but has had enough/starts playing around.

Lazzaroo yea my little man is the same!!

larlemucker · 26/04/2013 20:27

Some asked the breast feeding councillor about that last week and she said to watch them feed with your little finger ready. When they have finished use your finger to break the seal and get them off ASAP. Also if he bites don't pull him off as he will drag teeth down nipple, push him back on instead

MrsNPattz · 26/04/2013 20:48

Thanks for the advice Larle! Attempting bedtime here, but little man wide awake Blush

larlemucker · 26/04/2013 20:55

Hope it helps.
Baby larle been in bed an hour, think swimming has worn him out!!

abi2790 · 26/04/2013 21:30

Evening ladies.

Ds has been asleep since about 8 in his new cot Smile. He's still not himself but has been much better than he was yesterday so didn't take him back to the gp.

How has everyone's day been?

SoYo · 26/04/2013 22:13

First immunisations here today....cue screaming & looking at me like I was evil! I gave her a preemptive dose of calpol & she's not seeming any more grizzly than usual so far, I'm fully expecting it to kick in overnight!

Anypants · 26/04/2013 22:23

I'm a day ahead of you soyo - the good news is that the calpol worked wonders and DD was fine once I got her to sleep and ended up more sleepy today. There was one small incident when she woke from her afternoon nap with an ear-piercing scream but i've given her another dose and she's gone down ok. I hope mini yo is ok - very painful when they scream so much Sad I did let her sleep on me a lot today as I felt so bad about inflicting pain... Blush

larlemucker · 26/04/2013 22:33

We have jabs on Tuesday and this time it's 3 Hmm

Well baby larle had another feed, went down for 15 mins and now awake crying again Hmm

Hope everyone else have better nights

TeaandHobnobs · 26/04/2013 23:33

Your posts about jabs last night reminded me that I forgot to take BabyTea for his 12 month ones yesterday afternoon! Shock Big oops! Will have to call first thing on Monday and grovel for another appointment Confused Blush

Apparently he was up between 2 and 4 last night, but I was so tired I went straight back to sleep - first night this week I've got more than 3 hours sleep total! He has generally slept a bit better this week though, so maybe he has turned a corner at last. I expect starting nursery next week may change that - I'm expecting him to want more milk at night to make up for not having as much in the day, we shall see.

That's great about the shhh pat MrsN! Hope tonight is successful on that front. The biting is bad isn't it - DS has only done it twice, and not laughed thankfully, but it effing hurts! Larle's technique is the best if you can predict when it is about to happen, but another tip is, when he does it, pull him in towards your breast so his face effectively gets squished against you (gently!), it will mean he can't breathe through his nose and will have to unlatch. It sounds really mean but friends of mine say it works well.

Glad DS seems to like his new cot abi Smile and hope he is back to his usual self soon.

I really must go to bed - night everyone, hope babies are sleepy tonight.

larlemucker · 27/04/2013 00:19

And we're up again. Eyes hurt

abi2790 · 27/04/2013 02:02

My eyes hurt too larle Brew.

I stupidly thought that he might sleep well in his cot tea but that was wishful thinking. One day he will sleep through the night!

DS has started having really quick feeds at night before falling asleep again. Do you think that means he'll be ready to drop his night feeds soon? I hope so!

GoatBongosAnonymous · 27/04/2013 03:17

Up with a feverish baby. Waiting for calpol to kick in and have taken sleepsuit off. At least breathing has slowed.

Hope all LOs are asleep with full tummies and smiles on their faces. Likewise mummies!

larlemucker · 27/04/2013 04:25

Sorry to hear kid is unwell. Hope it's nothing serious and is all better soon.

We're up again! Been up at 10, 12.30, 2.30 (for an hour), 4.20 Hmm

lazzaroo · 27/04/2013 07:22

So, little one fed at 10.30 & then again at 12.30. She woke at 2 but settled with DH without a feed. Then he let her sleep on him in a chair so I could get some sleep. She slept till 5.30am. So she actually went 5 hours without feed but not without waking. She never feeds for long at night (or in the day for that matter!). I'm sure if I had the strength & energy to persevere I could cut her night feeds down, but it's so hard! And DH works away 3-4 days a week so it's hard to be consistent. Still, at least I feel vaguely human this morning....and the sun is shining! Hope good days lie ahead for all.
