A brand spanking new thread for midnight ramblings, chocolate covered pretzels and so much more Grin

We're hoping for a better night too. Missmarbles wasn't too bad, being up only twice, but then getting up at 6.40. But DD1 bless her, was really poorly and so as predicted, I was up pretty much hourly Sad She's a little better tonight but I think she will end up in here and DH in her room again.

NervousAt20 · 12/11/2012 23:27

mrsn LO sill be in with us until at least 6 months and if she not sleeping through or I'm not ready for her to go in her own room then it will be longer. I have a crib for DD too even though she won't sleep in it now, hopefully she will onthe future so it will depend on that too as we don't really have enough room for her cot but if I have to then we'll just have to shuffle the room about abit not that DP knows this yet

Thanks foe replys about how long it takes when you get up with your LOs, takes us about 45min each time

First feed here, hoping LO will go a good few hours now before the next one, my eyes sting

Hope everyone gets lots of sleep

missingmymarbles · 13/11/2012 01:12

First feed - woopGrin
Have been up with puking DD1 though. She told me she wàs too grown up to come in our room I think she just couldn't be bothered to move that's what I'm telling myself anyway.
Missmarbles went in cot in own room at 13 weeks because she was starting to look panicked in the crib when she moved and bashed the sides with her arms. We couldn't get the cot in our room or a bed in hers Sad

Susieloo · 13/11/2012 02:02

2nd feed of the night here and I'm struggling with stingy eyes too, it's also very mild tonight so I feel really hot and bothered.

I will keep babyloo with me in our room until six months but he may well be in our room for longer because he will be moving into dss's room who is here 2 nights a week and every other weekend and that room is tiny and rammed with toys so I have no idea how its going to work with a baby in there too.

I am also seriously considering extending my mat leave for another couple of months, the thought of going back in February full time is making me feel quite panicky. We would be very very broke but I can't bear the thought of going back so soon, I know one of my colleagues will be really mad (public sector so they don't cover mat leave its absorbed into the team) because she is basically doing two jobs. I'm seeing her tomorrow for lunch so I might mention it then.

Just broken babyloo's latch because he was comfort sucking rather than feeding, need more sleep.

2nd half kit day tomorrow, happy sleeps everyone SmileSmile

funchum8am · 13/11/2012 02:05

Wakings take anything from 5 mins (feed, she falls asleep on boob, I put her back) to an hour here.

We plan to have her in with us for 6 months. We need to find a cot soon as her Moses basket will be too narrow eventually.

Bit of a tough day today as I thought I would try getting up earlier and see if I could get her to have a morning and lunchtime nap to break the habit of sleeping all afternoon then being up all night (i know, I promised to ignore Gina F but it all sounded so alluring when I had read it!).

Cue her totally ignoring it all and being wide awake all morning and demanding feeds at all the 'wrong' times. I must have put her down about 6 times only to have to get her up again when she started yelling, and I had been hoping to have a nap when she did, so I was in and out of bed like a yo-to myself.

She then slept from 2.15 to 6.15, had a 5 min feed and slept til I freaked out and woke her at midnight. That is nearly 8 hours with one teeny tiny feed...why can't she do that at night??

Anyway, lesson learned. Baby is in charge from now on!

I am off to see Skyfall tomorrow - it is the mother ans baby screening at Uxbridge at 11:15 if anyone local fancies it! Cannot wait!

NervousAt20 · 13/11/2012 03:11

Second feed of the night here, I got 3 hours between but feels like 10min! Between a snoring DP and dog I had no hope of falling straight to sleep

funch I only realised today that some places do mother and baby screenings!! I got quite excited and I'm hoping they out twilight on next week. yes I'm a saddo [saddo]

Smallgreenone · 13/11/2012 03:17

Baby small is already in his own room mrsn I
miss him but he's outgrown his basket and his huge cotbed thing won't fit in ours and I'm not buying anything else that he'll be in for just a few weeks so own room was the only answer Sad
funch enjoy skyfall, i loved it.

Susieloo · 13/11/2012 03:20

3rd feed of the night!!!! Why he's up again 1.15 mins later I have no idea!!

Ameybee · 13/11/2012 03:22

Good god we got a 5 hour stretch! I am in shock!!!

We kept DD1 in our room till she was 9 months - she still went in her own room with no fuss after that! I plan to do 6 months with DS. I am too paranoid not to (after things i have seen at work). However we are lucky that we can fit cot in our room. I know loads of people who moved them out before 6 months and I think if you have breathing monitor its not such an issue. I'm just ultra paranoid!! X

Goatbongosanonymous · 13/11/2012 03:26

...So I go out for the evening and everyone is busy posting here!
yes, I went out for the first time - one of my students was giving a concert. It was fab, and I even listened to most of it, in between wondering how DH and Kid were doing back at home!
Kid will sleep in with us for a while yet. Having had respiratory distress syndrome and a pneumothorax I am absolutely paranoid about his breathing, and I know I would not sleep at all if he were in his own room, even with a monitor! DH will return to our bed when Kid manages a full night in his own crib regularly. I think the basket is not going to work any more, as his startle reflex is so strong that he throws his arms out, whacks his hands on the sides and wakes himself up.
funch I didn't know it is Skyfall tomorrow, I am definitely up for that! I had been waiting for it to come along then forgot to keep checking.
susie I know the feeling about mat leave - I don't go back until April and already hate the thought. And this from a dedicated career woman who used to live for her job...
nervous I am thinking of quickly teaching Kid to read so he can see for himself all the stuff that says ff is so much quicker and easier than bf. we are still up from the 12:45 feed!

Goatbongosanonymous · 13/11/2012 03:35

Oh smicha Grin at sleeping on mum being a bigger deal breaker!!

MrsNPattz · 13/11/2012 03:40

First feed here, hoping it will be straight forward. If it is it usually takes about half an hour nervous, sometimes longer, sometimes less.

Great to hear all of your replies about how long little one will sleep in with you, just shows it is all about personal preference/circumstances. Thank you, again you have all made me feel much better.

I am getting my hair done tomorrow - I'm so excited it feels like Christmas lol

funch I love the idea of a mother and baby screening - will look into that here. Enjoy!

I hope the sleepy mice are being kind.

Susieloo · 13/11/2012 04:08

Still up.... Why is it always on days when I have to be up and doing something the next day.

Smallgreenone · 13/11/2012 04:35

Up again 1hr later. Could he be having the 12 week growth spurt early? I'm so tired.

NervousAt20 · 13/11/2012 06:11

Third feed here and praying we get longer next time, LO was awake for the last hour in her noses basket squeaking so I was awake to listening

Hope your all having good nights

Twobuttonsaway · 13/11/2012 07:12

Morning, 00:30 and 04:30, asleep by 5:15 and woken up by DS2 (aged 4) at 5:45..... Grrrrr. Hubby retreated to spare room at 01:00 to get away from the grunting (baby, not me!).

Am gutted my local cinema doesn't do baby screening.

Have a good day all Brew

Smicha · 13/11/2012 07:25

Only one feed between 11pm and now and that was at around 4!! Wow. I hope this is a sign of things to come! (my boobs are like rocks though having got used to the hourly feeds!) So I had time to read the thread at that feed but then it also involved two poonamis and much vomit so I didn't get round to replying...does anyone else's dc tend to vomit more through the night? We get hardly any during the day but it can gush at night.

minipop my ds is now 7 weeks.

nervous our feeds usually take up to an hour, which is an improvement on the two hours when he was tiny!

Ds slept on my bed and then on me again last night so today I'm going to try and introduce him to his cotbed. He has been sleeping in the carrycot from our uppababy vista buggy as that is suitable for night sleeping but he likes to sleep with his arms sticking out and is already hitting the sides. I was hoping he'd be in there for at least three months Hmm The cotbed is in our room but not by the bed as the carrycot has been. Who knows how this experiment will work!

My parents are here again for a few days so I'm about to hand over to them and get some sleep (once I've expressed these rocks!)

MrsNPattz · 13/11/2012 07:43

Second feed here and possibly up for the day.

Susie sorry you have had an awful night before work - hope it goes ok.

amey congratulations on your 5 hours!

Waves to everybody else Smile

MrsNPattz · 13/11/2012 07:45

smicha that's brilliant Smile

funchum8am · 13/11/2012 08:41

DH stayed up with me from 4am when DD declared the day to have begun. He then took her downstairs and managed to feed her 2oz from a bottle, so good progress there, I got a hour of proper sleep, and dh earned a LOT of brownie points!

Congratulations Andy and smicha on good nights!

Susie good luck for your kit day.

daisychain76 · 13/11/2012 09:02

Up every hour last night ~ after 30 mins in one case. No idea why. suddenly every 2/3 hours seems like a distant paradise....

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 13/11/2012 09:13

funch I'm desperate to see it, Sod's law I'm out until lunch time today or I'd definitely come :( Do you know if they're showing it again anytime soon? I wonder if they'll be showing Twilight too...

Oh marbles that's a tough sounding night, hope your DD1 is feeling better really soon.

OP posts:
Ameybee · 13/11/2012 09:33

DH has the tummy bug :( we are jumping ship to grandmas to fingers crossed avoid (or spread!!!) x

missingmymarbles · 13/11/2012 11:06

Well a good nightSmile
Thanks, Heff. DD1 slept after she'd spewed at the beginning, until half seven. Missmarbles woke at 1 then 4, then again at 6, but she had poonami which involved a strip down so woke wide awake Hmm At that I took her into our bed to try and get a few more zeds; I think we must have then all up when DD1 got up.

Hope your KiT day is ok, Susie. I have my head in the sand about work. I'm due back on Feb, but I have holiday to take.

Hope your DH is better soon, Amey. It will be nice at grandmas thoughSmile How are your eyes?

How are all the teeth?

Ameybee · 13/11/2012 12:56

My eyes are much better thanks marbles! How is your DD1? Has she stopped puking? It's bloody awful! I so don't want it, I'm fed up of illness & germs! Feel like I can't get myself into any routine I'm just waiting for us all to be better all the time :(.
DH is still running to loo bless him! It's nice at grandmas! Just hoping no one else comes down with it but guess we can't do much about it! Xx
