Tummy upset doesn't sound pleasant goat.

I've just changed DS nappy, was pretty full, and I've fed a bit again. I'm finding it hard to know which boob to give as he is only snacking just now. He appears asleep but goodness only knows what will happen when I aytemi putting him down!

I think gina fords book scared me to death first time round & second time round! I don't know of any one week old that went to bed at 7pm?!? I agree its not compatible with bf, how would you know if they'd had enough? Maybe with formula feeding is easier, but with DD we fell into a routine easily when she started on formula at 8 weeks, may not be so easy this time but i would like to bf till he's 6 months if I can, will see tho. Just taking things one day at a time. God I'm knackered tonight tho! Hoping he goes down now till 7 (if I'm lucky)! X

Funchum step away from Gina! Grin although I really like goat's suggestion of shutting her in a room with all our babies Seriously though, she is likely to just make you feel Sad and want to cry. Have you looked at the Baby Whisperer? I know many people who have found that a gentler way of establishing some kind of routine. But to be honest the best routine is the one LO wants to be in, that's what will keep them happiest, as long as it doesn't drive you batty Grin They will start to show their own pattern soon enough, and every baby is different in terms of efficiency of feeding and sleeping patterns.

Sorry about your tum goat Sad and heff I hope you can survive til Monday with the toothache! What is it about baby screams that just seems to penetrate the teeth and amplify the pain about ten times?! Hideous - not sure I've forgiven BabyTea for starting that just after I had my tooth out Angry

I know lots of poorly babies at the moment Sad - poor minipop with his bronchilitis, and another baby I know was in hospital for several days with it. Now another friend's baby has just been struggling to breathe in the night, and they suspect she has croup Sad and another recently had suspected whooping cough (although thankfully it turned out not to be). So many horrible bugs around at the moment Sad

After The Night From Hell on Thursday, DS has been a bit better the last two days. We just got a four hour stint, and there has been less raging going on. He's really got me all at sea at the moment though - I was starting to feel like we had got into the swing of things and I was really enjoying motherhood for the first time, but the last 2 weeks I feel like the rug's been pulled out from under me. Things with DH are also a bit stormy which is just adding to the stress and upset.

nothing like a long moany post at 4:45am, eh?

I haven't read the gina method. Is it too strict or out dated or something?

I'm sooooo looking forward to Christmas Grin I generally love Christmas and my decorations will be up 1st December Grin
I have got baby J quite a few Christmas outfits (he's going to be embarrassed when he's grown up lol) I'm looking forward to our 1st family Christmas and lots of photos of baby J.

As for Christmas presents for myself I have no idea what I want. I would like a while new wardrobe of clothes but feel loathed to buy any as I don't want to buy any in this larger size.
Only thing I've asked for is a new dressing gown (as I spend a lot of time using one now lol) and maybe a voucher for a beauty salon.

I did want a handbag last year but that idea is redundant now as I never use one, I just use the changing bag. Anyone else the same? I used to be lost without my handbag but quickly found I had enough to carry without another bag.

Wow, I was too tired to read earlier and come on now to see we're at 29 posts already! This must be the most active night thread on MN!

Sorry not to namecheck, too much for my sleepy brain to take in

Re Gina Ford, my SIL told me when I was pg that if anyone bought me the book I should put it in the bin and then scrape my leftover dinner on top of it! I don't think it would be for me.

My ds grunts all night and often when he feeds! I've been on the phone to my mum before during a feed and she's said he sounds like a truffle pig too! We often now call him the truffle pig Smile Cruel parents!
I have to hold him to sleep after feeds as he won't self settle. I am also finding that sometimes when I think he's waking for a feed he isn't, he just wants a cuddle Hmm At the moment I am cuddling him but it's a habit I'd like to break.

As for Christmas...I really want to tell people not to get me anything so I don't have to think about Christmas shopping, but I can't bring myself to be scrooge! Looking forward to our first family Christmas though!

Oh I'd forgotten about smp I'm on it next month too Sad
Yes mummyv I have been known to spend far too much on handbags and have a few dearly loved ridiculously overpriced jobbies that now sit redundant in the wardrobe Sad. DH thought I'd lost the plot when I got excited about my patterned, wipe clean, changing bag!
I'd like new clothes too but it's hard to find nice clothes good for bfing in. I used to wear a lot of dresses but now can only wear wrap dresses and tops have to be not too tight so you can hoik them up for boob access so I might wait until he's weaned. On the other hand it's a long time since I bought anything nice for myself so I might go mad in the sales Grin

Yey a shiny new thread, thanks for starting it heff

First feed here after going down at midnight and he seems ok now - amey car might be an idea next time! But do they not just start again when you get back home? Lol glad your party went well despite your eyes, but no wonder you are tired - 18 3 year olds!!!! Grin

goat the penguins have something there, I will try and remember that thank you Smile hope you are feeling a bit better about things now.

nervous thanks I will try across the knee!

marbles mmmm peanut butter squares, yum!!

Re Christmas, I'm not sure what I would like apart from a very silly case for my iPad (called a Bobo case - I think they look ace but I'm a big kid!). I think money would be good as I can't stop spending at the moment.

Oh goat, meant to say, DS has always been quite snuffly/grunty at night, and he even snores a bit Blush He has been known to laugh or squeal in his sleep, but generally if I hear those little coughs/cries that say "I'm hungry", even if he's not totally awake, it escalates pretty fast and woe betide if I don't sit up and get him on the boob instantly!

Hi ladies, may I join in? Not a night feed at the no, more a trying to get a little longer in bed but my 2 day old thinks I'm being ridiculous and my crib rocking hand hurts! Last night he fed on and off for pretty much 3 hours solid. Tonight he fed at 3 then woke at 5 for nappys change but is not hungry. Im feeling so pfb I'm panicking about everything!

Welcome doodle I'm very pfb too and a hypochondriac at the best of times which is not a great combination!!

Well we are up for the day and off to my parents for the day and night because dp is having his friends round to watch the football wants to get drunk so babyloo gets spoilt by his nan and grandpa and I get fed-a lot!!!

Up for the day here and a much happier baby! We are going to Mothercare to have a look at some stimulating toys for little man - we got told people would buy us loads but we didn't get any! Also going to look at bottles and stuff. I used to love shopping for myself but now I love shopping for him more! Can't remember the last time I bought something for myself. We might be going for a Carvery too which would be our first time out for lunch with him - hopefully he will sleep.

tea I hope things sort themselves out with hubby!

Have a good Sunday everyone xx

Welcome two and doodle congratulations on your new babies :)

Thanks tea, its just the right pitch isn't it to set everything jangling in your head! Hope yours is feeling better now?

goat that's a good quote to keep in mind when dealing with difficult people, well meaning or not sometimes its so hard not to be rude isn't it! Hope you're feeling better this morning.

amey we got a VW Passat estate, I love it its got so much room! Will miss our little Audi A3 though, we've had it almost as long as we've been together, I was still at college when DH bought it! Wish we could afford to keep both but its just not practical :(

mummyv I have a pretty boring list consisting mostly of inexpensive jewellery, scarves and the new McFly book Blush although for my birthday (week before Xmas) I've got tickets to see Ronan Keating with my friend in January so I'm v excited about that Grin

funch I think GF is a bit controversial because of how strict she is and lots of new mums just end up depressed and in a worse state than before if they can't stick to the routines. I know one GF mum who thinks she's amazing but she is a control freak very organised person in the first place. Each to their own I guess but having read the book when dd1 was little I decided quite quickly it wasn't for us. Her potty training book on the other hand has proved quite helpful so far.

Hey everyone, busy thread already but I will try to keep up. Am on my phone at the moment so can't name check everyone and apologies in advance for the awful auto correct. Grin

goat Minipop is extremely noisy, that was part of the reason for moving him to his own room. I read a book about prem babies & according to that it says they are way more noisy than term babies due to under developed central nervous system.

susieloo I am also on SMP from next month, that's gonna be a shocker!

Also, we were recommended a book called Baby wise by Gary Ezzo, it's similar to Gina Ford but much more practical and less military. We started it with Thomas & its worked a treat.

The eat, activity then sleep is fab when it works.

It a really old book though, so the writing is a bit old fashioned, but only cost 24p second hand from amazon. :)

Hello all. Had a cracking night with DS last night, no grazing at all, just full feed followed by burp and conking out, with a good 3 hours between. However, at 8 days old I suspect this was a massive fluke, so tryin not to get my expectations up for tonight!

I have to admit to being a Gina Ford fan. Used the book as a guide with DD, it didn't always go to plan but I liked havin a benchmark against which to compare our day. Always brought our day back in line at bath time, however badly the day had gone. Will use the book again as a basis for a routine. But I am a very organised person control freak so it was something that suited my personality. I think that is quite key - find a style that reflects your own general approach, and it probably has more chance of working for you.

The infacol, is helping no crying for hours but he is still up. Sorry I couldn't post last night, just so tired. I'm just pumping then bed for me.

Tomorrow the car has to be checked out, the MPG are off and the fan keeps coming on. If I can the bottom of the house needs a clean.

As for Xmas ask me when I have energy.

Evening all, had a pretty good day here. Went to Mothercare and spent a fortune (well hubby did hehe Grin) on new bottles (Dr Brown - will report back when we have tried them), more Christmas outfits (!), a Christmas stocking, a play mat to take to stay at my mum and dads so we don't have to take ours, and a robot Lamaze toy. I love shopping for him, makes me happy. I have also ordered him a Pudsey bear all in one for Friday from Mothercare Smile. We went for a Carvery and he slept all the way through and I survived without wanting to throttle MIL! Hoping for a good night to match but you know how it goes.........

amey hope you and the little ones haven't caught SIL's bug!

mini glad mini mini is getting better.

Can anyone help with this...

Any tips on how to settle baby J without breast feeding?? If I'm to go onto bottle need to know how to do this plus poor DH is unable to settle him. DH is upstairs now trying to settle him and baby J is just not calming at all. I can just hear him screaming through the monitor Sad

I thought a dummy might help replace my nipple but baby J just refuses it.

Evening allSmile

mummy I've had some success with a projector that shines a rotating night scene on the ceiling which has helped to settle babyloo, we are still feeding to sleep though.

I am on first feed of the night which is very unusual so not sure if this is down to babyloo having a cold or just a random one off, I had only been asleep about twenty minutes!

Gutted I'm missing I'm a celebrity but I just can't stay up that late!! Have good nights everyoneSmile
