Last feed before bed-well before he wakes up 30 minutes after I put him down. We had a good night last night with a 7-2 and then up again at half five but fell asleep to his projector and then I had to wake him this morning at 7.20.

Sorry to read there are some rubbish nights out there, sleep deprivation is just the worst thing.

Scattering sleepy dust as I go and releasing the mice, have a good night everyoneSmile

Ameybee · 27/11/2012 18:20

Thanks for saying its too young for sleep training! A lot of books say not but I don't agree either really! I'm just looking for answers when really there aren't any :(. I'm just hoping if I be patient the nights will sort them self out!

One question I do have Is does everyone wait for them to actually 'cry' as such before they feed? I think I'm guilty of picking up and feeding at first instance! He went 4 hours this morning n then I decided to feed him before I left for home as didn't want screaming in car but he actually wasn't that bothered! He's well and gaining weight so I'm not sure if I'm stressing over nothing! Xx

Twobuttonsaway · 27/11/2012 19:13

amey you know your baby better than anyone Smile. You can recognise the cues before approaching melt down - it's infinitely more pleasurable for you and baby to feed before this point! And if you need to feed at a particular time because you are going somewhere then that's very sensible too! Ultimately babies are people if they don't want to feed then they won't! Sounds to me like you are doing a fab job!

We had a good day today, squeezed in a power nap to compensate for this mornings 4 hours of miised sleep. angel baby slept for DH the whole time (2.5 hrs) I was at DS1 nativity - he was a very cute sheep!

Baby buttons is bathed and sweet smelling (makes a change from milk sick). Now doing nursery based cluster feeding in dim light, hoping it won't take 2 hrs tonight!

Laters all, best of luck for a better night!

Ameybee · 27/11/2012 19:23

Thanks two I am also cluster feeding in dark! Sometimes I think I've forgot what it was like with DD 1st time round but I have to admit it was easier with formula but... I really want to persevere with bf this time!!! X

MrsNPattz · 27/11/2012 19:31

amey I am the same - I try and feed before crying commences and I always try and feed before going out! Don't worry!

Twobuttonsaway · 27/11/2012 19:46

amey we are in the same boat Grin DS1 was mix fed from very early on as he hated having to work/wait for food - and is still the same aged 4! DS2 now 6.5 weeks is ebf and despite being 4oz lighter at birth is now 1lb heavier than DS1 at the same age! Must be producing gold top! Hard work but rewarding! X

Loup23 · 27/11/2012 19:49

Me too for feeding before howling starts but not sure if I am missing the chance for dd to settle herself? Trying to put dd down after this feed but sure it will be a power nap with eyes wide open and ready for play in an hour...... Good luck all, see you in the wee hours Wink

Loislane78 · 27/11/2012 19:52

Evening all :)

Thought me and LO had graduated from this thread so whilst I pop in for a read snack tips haven't posted for a while.

LO has moved into the cot as Moses basket too small and its taking longer to settle. Was in a lovely bedtime routine but alas no more, luckily the number of feeds is the same. I was thinking today they should do baskets in different sizes!! That could get expensive but hey, sleep is sleep!

Ah well, we'll get there again soon hopefully with as bit if assistance from Ewan.

Hope all you LOs are hunkering down for the night :)

Ameybee · 27/11/2012 20:18

Oh god think I've cocked up massivly! I thought DH's brother & family were coming to ours Boxing Day & I was just going to order pizzas or do something very easy as we won't get back from my parents till 11ish. But MIL is saying I mentioned it to them t

Ameybee · 27/11/2012 20:20

Them too - I do not remember this at all. Unless was a fleeting comment ages ago saying 'might see you boxing day' now I have about 11 to cater for and I'm stressing already! And I think she's peeved with me :(. Baby + hosting + toddler = stress! X

Loislane78 · 27/11/2012 20:25

Could you suggest a 'bring and share' so a) its not v expensive and b) you don't have a meltdown shopping and cooking for tons of people?

Alternatively MASSIVE one pot curry/chilli with all the sides :)

Ameybee · 27/11/2012 20:42

Yes think I will have too! It just feels so awkward now! I don't trust myself in my sleep deprived state anymore t

Ameybee · 27/11/2012 20:44

See - I keep posting b4 I'm finished - I'm a mess! I don't trust what I've said/not said!!
Hit a new level of sleep deprivation yest - DH looked out window n car was at bottom of drive - oh hello handbrake - forgot u were there! I'd put it on but not pulled up enough & not left it in gear! Lucky its a clever car and was beeping and hazards on! It had gripped at bottom on drive but could of been disaster :( think I'm losing the plot! X

funchum8am · 27/11/2012 22:33

amey so glad your car is ok! Is DH helping with nights at all? If not maybe he will now he can see what the lack of sleep is doing to you...sorry if you feel that hugely slanders your DH, I hope you know what I mean. I am sure he is lovely!

After our worst ever night last night I actually got 2 stretches of 2 hours as DH took babyfunch out in the car at 4am and didn't bring her back to me til 6, then DM took her from 8 til 10 and no crying during that time so I got some proper sleep. Twas amazing!

Also DH and I had lovely tapas while DM babysat. DM is on for the best Xmas presents ever!

Another kit day for me tomorrow but I start at 11:30 and DM here so no childminder run, so very manageable. If I actually get some sleep I will be really hyper I reckon!

Sorry to hear how bad others had it last night - fingers crossed for angelic sleeping babies tonight!

blonderthanred · 27/11/2012 23:25

Hello all. Amey that is a mega display of what sleep deprivation does. That's why I keep telling DH not to be a martyr and get some sleep as he has to drive for work and only passed his test a few months ago.

Actually he took today off after last night's drama (luckily he works in v female & family based office) and we had a pretty nice day. Went to a bf support group and they had a cranio sacral therapist there so I thought it was worth a try. Some of it was a bit hippy dippy for me but in terms of relaxation it was really good, so much so that DS did the biggest poo of his life. Hopefully that's cleared him out a bit! He has been very chilled out so far tonight, wide awake but content, also making lots of eye contact and finding his own toes! Which is all very cute. Lots of Firsts, even dare I say some little non-wind smiles. It may not translate into a good night's sleep, but hopefully I can cope with any small-hours-screaming a little more happily.... We'll see.

Hope everyone is having a good night and your babies are sleeping beautifully!

Susieloo · 27/11/2012 23:28

Sounds like you had a lovely time fun, I love tapas and could totally eat that now.

Babyloo was wriggling around in his cot so I'm having more success with a dream feed tonight, no idea if this means he will wake up any later than he would have.

Hope everyone getting some sleep, my friend who had a baby six months before me said how surprised she was that you can survive on so little sleep and I thought how true-horrible though.

Susieloo · 27/11/2012 23:45

amey how scary for you with your car, really hope you have some good sleep tonight.

missingmymarbles · 27/11/2012 23:57

First feed, and before midnight. This does not bode well......

Doodlekitty · 28/11/2012 00:02

Got the feeling I'm in for a long night tonight. Ds (3 weeks old) has slept more than usual today and is now cluster feeding. Have sent hubby to bed and I'm keeping ds downstairs for as long as I can cope so he can get some real sleep. Last night he did the same for me and I got a total of 7 hours precious sleep! But I can feel my eyelids drooling alteady

StuntNun · 28/11/2012 01:12

Checking in on the first feed of the night. DM has the magic touch and kept baby asleep on her lap when I went to bed. She put him in his Moses basket a couple of hours ago and he stayed asleep for ages. FC for a better night tonight!

Ameybee · 28/11/2012 01:51

Second feed here. 2.5 hours - lets hope we are advancing! No worries fun to be honest I wish DH could help more at night but DD has been up with being poorly etc & she's so loud it seems easier for him to sleep in there. I'm so glad he's off for 3 days now so I can rest in day, I'm craving sleep so badly! Have a feeling we are in for a very similar night to last 4 :( how can he push to 4 hour between feeds In day but go to 2 at night! Its not fair!! X

funchum8am · 28/11/2012 02:35

amey yes you did say DH was with dd1, sorry I forgot. He must be fairly knackered too! Sounds like you are both doing a great job in really difficult circumstances. Hats off to you - think DH and I may end up with just the one child unless the sleep situation improves quickly.

stunt sounds like your mum is brilliant!

blonder those first smiles are amazing aren't they? Makes it all seem almost worthwhile.
Babyfunch has just done 11-2:30 which for us is great! If she can feed then go 3.5 hours again I will be delighted. FC for everyone else....doodle susie and marbles good luck, hope your LOs have been soundly sleeping since you posted.

Susieloo · 28/11/2012 03:42

2nd feed of the night after dream feed at eleven thirty so hoping to skip the half five wake up and go straight to sevenSmile

StuntNun · 28/11/2012 03:46

She certainly is Fun! Just on the second feed of the night - much more civilised. Smile

Twobuttonsaway · 28/11/2012 03:47

susie we are up too, would love to get to 7 - can you make magic please! Grin Note magic also needs to include keeping DS1 in bed! Thanks! Thanks
