Lonis showing no signs of sleep Sad it was midnight before she would settle last night

Susieloo · 20/11/2012 23:07

1st feed of the night since bed at 6.30 so slight improvement on the last few nights.

izzy that sounds really painfulSad, my nipple was mashed a week ago and I kept slapping on lanisoh and it did help a bit, nothing worse than when you are dreading feeding because it hurts.

Anyone else think its mild tonight. nervous me and dp were talking about what to get babyloo for Christmas, really we are only buying him a few toys so that dss doesn't think Father Christmas has forgotten him!!

mrsn lovely picture of you and baby n -you could be sat on the sofa in my house it looks exactly the same!!

hope you get some sleep marbles* you must be knackered.

Hope your okay evil if you're reading and hello to minipop and babylon if you are reading too and anyone else I've forgotten, hello to goat and two

Babyloo will definitely sleep until 7 now I'm sure of it so see you all back around 3-4Grin

Oh and mint aero is my new favorite thing but we have run out so I have had to eat a cold left over sausage with loads of mustard instead-not quite the same!!!

Attempting transfer...........

Hi, not been able to post for ages sorry. DS has wind trouble and interferes with my mumsnetting. The cheek. So, oh wise ones, any recommendations? Not wanting chemicals as more into natural stuff. DS nearly 4 weeks and about 9lb. He falls asleep but wakes with wind, top end, despite being winded. Max sleep 2hrs. Can take 3 hrs to feed and settle. Exclusively on breast. Two older kids including toddler so no chance to nap in day. Cheers. Off to burp him again.

Ameybee · 21/11/2012 00:18

I just expressed a bit onto a clean teaspoon n dripped it in, even if it went in corner if he was laid down it went into eye eventually. I was amazed bit apparently its full to brim of antibodies etc! It's good stuff!

I was on twitter earlier & I follow dr Christian from embarrassing bodies! He tweeted about some research done on bf, apparently only 1 in 100 women bf to 6 months & 50% of women give up after one week! I think that demonstrates how tough it actually is!

DS settled at 8pm tonight - was amazing to have both kids in bed & watch tv for an hour with DH! Even had a sneaky Malibu!

Been sticking to my weightwatchers points for 2 days now & I feel much better for being a bit in control of what I eat, I'd struggle without the extra points for bf tho! I'm really into mcvities gold bars at mo! Lush!

Hope everyone gets some shut eye! X

funchum8am · 21/11/2012 00:33

Back again...think babyfunch might have reflux as she sounds in pain when she wakes for night feeds. So will be keeping her upright after feeds and on here to pass the time!

Welcome back valium no expert winding I'm afraid but I heard lying baby face down on your knee to do it is very effective. It sounds very stressful, I really hope someone can help.

I need to go back to weightwatchers too, I might even be one of that 1% who bf exclusively for 6 months if it gets me more points! I have chocolate brownies DH bought at the farmers' market for my nighttime snack, yum.

Right, off to prop babyfunch up for 30 mins....good luck tonight all.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 21/11/2012 00:51

Evening all, hoping to get to bed soon babylump finally dropping off after an evening of rage. Apparently its my fault she's tired and not asleep, nothing to do with the fact she's screaming her head off and giving herself a headache...oh no its definitely my fault Hmm

Re the breast milk/gunky eyes its the antibodies in the milk, amazing stuff but it will definitely help with the eyes. Strangely enough babylump had a gunky eye this morning, I covered it with some milk mid feed when the let down felt strong (she wasn't too happy about being shot in the eye!) and by tonight its all good again. Usually it is just blocked tear ducts, massage around the inside of the eye/nose area can help, but if it doesn't clear up or if it starts to get red/inflamed then could be conjunctivitis so drs trip needed.

I have had three types of cake tonight Blush coffee & walnut that I bought yesterday for pudding, then chocolate cake & fruit cake from a friends party I forgot to go to on Saturday night (oops...baby brain strikes again!) so perhaps a bit of exercise tomorrow wouldn't go amiss!

Glad to hear today was better amey, and that your DD1 is feeling more herself :)

missingmymarbles · 21/11/2012 01:05

Feeding again. 4th time since bed at 7. I'm soo tired. Please let this be the last for more than an hour and a half.......

funchum8am · 21/11/2012 01:37

Ok I put babyfunch to sleep without doing the upright thing as she fell asleep on boob. However she woke within ten minutes and this after a whole routine of kicking legs, grabbing her face, whimpering, groaning and then finally screaming. I am now convinced expert that I am that she has something wrong with her, probably reflux.

I fed her again and this time held her upright afterwards for over half an hour. She slept blissfully throughout and have just transferred to cot...am listening anxiously for signs of waking but she may be drowned out by DH's snorting as he has a cold!

Susieloo · 21/11/2012 01:37

2nd feed of the night two hours from the last one-not good, I really really want some cake nowSmile

Goatbongosanonymous · 21/11/2012 01:47

Morning all.
...weaves onto thread blearily, notes considerable cakeage, waves at everyone as too brain dead to name check, and weaves off again...

funchum8am · 21/11/2012 01:58

Ugh, epic transfer fail. Feeding again. This is going to be a shocking night...solidarity with all those still up!

blonderthanred · 21/11/2012 02:01

Oh dear, terrible night so far. DS got really hungry earlier and started cluster feeding. Then as often happens he got more and more frantic, losing his latch, thrashing his head around, arching his body and flailing his fists everywhere. Proper anguished cries and awful breath holding till he was purple.

I assumed he must have some trapped wind so was trying to wind him but he was hysterical, convinced he needed to feed more but if I tried putting him back on the breast it was just more of the same. In the end he got hiccups so I had to try and feed him again as they really distress him and there doesn't seem to be another way to stop them.

He's still grizzling and crying out, I don't know what to do.

Smallgreenone · 21/11/2012 02:41

Well here we all are! I managed to make my cake and the casserole and be in bed for 9! DH returned home at 1 and fell asleep on the sofa- his snoring woke me from downstairs Shock he has now transferred himself to our bed but he may have to be removed if he's still doing it when I get back. I hate snoring! He's also has too much to drink and smells like a pub which is also disgusting when you've not been drinking yourself and notice it more.
Attempting transfer. Probably be back at 4 or 5 if I'm lucky but he tends to wake every two hours if he wakes at this time Sad
Oh funch baby small was on gaviscon for reflux and it helped loads so maybe ask your gp and try some. It also made him constipated though so swapped one problem for another!

NervousAt20 · 21/11/2012 02:45

Envy at funchs chocolate brownies

We're up here, LO hasn't had a great feed though do think ill be lucky if she goes the full 2 hours

Went to a baby group today for the first time and quite enjoyed it, it was nice to chat to other mums so going to go to a different one on Thursday and see what that's like

Hope everyone's getting some sleep

funchum8am · 21/11/2012 02:54

Hi twobuttons and welcome. Everyone on here is lovely, we do have a lard. Huge congratulations on the birth of ds2!

I have the Gina timings in the back of my mind as a reference point now but am going with babyfunch's lack of routine for a while longer. I do a bedtime routine aiming for her to be in her cot at 7pm but am going to do it earlier for a while as she is having to be woken for bedtime which seems daft!

I still don't understand how to get her long sleep to move from starting around 3pm to 7pm - I have made zero progress on this in two weeks. Grr.

She has been awake since 2 ans is still feeding. Hopefully she will keep it down but I am not confident.

Sorry to moan...going to go for transfer as she is half asleep and just nibbling now.

funchum8am · 21/11/2012 03:51

Well she slept 3-3:30. Now feeding again. I had forgotten about my brownie stash til you reminded me nervous! Just had a bit and feel a tiny bit better!

amey that sounds incredibly stressful, how are things now? Hiccups are a nightmare for us too.

small I too would be considering ejecting DH if the snoring is that loud, especially if drink related!! Good luck with getting some sleep ladies.

funchum8am · 21/11/2012 03:59

Sorry that should be blonder not amey!

Goatbongosanonymous · 21/11/2012 04:13

funch baby funch is not very nice to you at night, is she? Sad tell her you want some sleep for Christmas. Early delivery is more than acceptable.

My heartfelt sympathies with all those having bad evenings/nights. Hope all has calmed down and sleepy mice invade beds till morning. Kid a little too calm - back to taking an hour to feed. Peace, man...

MrsNPattz · 21/11/2012 04:42

First feed here since 11 but I woke twice before hand for the loo Angry I drank loads of water before bed cause I had a headache so my fault!

Sorry for all the bad nights and ailments - I hope things pick up.

Hope mummyv is ok - not heard from her for a while either.

Thanks susie haha we have had to resort to throws on the leather sofa because baby Pattz keeps getting sick on it Confused

MrsHelsBels74 · 21/11/2012 04:49

I'm pretty sure my son just got me up for a laugh, he's had the merest sip of milk then gone back to sleep again Hmm

I've just noticed his baby grow is wet though so I'll get my own back in a minute!

ValiumQueen · 21/11/2012 04:51

blonder similar crap going on here. Deffo buying something for wind tomorrow. It is beyond a joke tonight. I am so tired I am really not coping any more. Took DS into bed earlier to settle. Asleep in seconds on boob. Amazingly transferred ok and got a couple of hours. Transferred him still on his side. He has a movement monitor so I was not worried. Surely if it is wind it would still hurt if on side or in bed with mummy? Fecking hiccups now

Twobuttonsaway · 21/11/2012 05:31

Hey all, (resisting urge to say good morning in case that means no more sleep!) Second feed tonight - following same "pattern" as yesterday - down by 20:30, feed at 2am and 5am - I can live with this for a while at least!!

funch thanks for the Gina commentary, my plan next week is to start trying to get baby buttons down earlier and doing feed in the dark to see if it will get him off to sleep a bit quicker. I am hope this might help with the early evening cluster feeding! blonder baby buttons does as you described above too. Last two evenings I have feed him on and off for a couple of hours, then (when DH served supper!) I swaddled him tightly and amazingly hd dropped off after a couple of protest yells - might be just a fluke but hoping not!!

Re wind - thank god they grow out of it!!

Transfer time for the snuffly truffle hunter... And may be a smudge of a nap before DS1 decides its morning!

Ameybee · 21/11/2012 05:34

funch we are trying to stick to ginas nap times (or at least spacing) what naps is your LO doing in day? We found it was tea time one that cocked up bedtime. So long as he's had at least 1.5 hours at lunch I can get him through to 4-430, could you take lo out in pram at this time for 30 ish mins then would lo wake up as you come home? After 2 days DS woke up himself after 30 mins at teatime & was in bed at 8 last night - miracle! X

Ameybee · 21/11/2012 05:41

Obviously last nights bedtime could be a fluke and I could be talking out my arse !

Twobuttonsaway · 21/11/2012 05:43

amey well done on signing back up to WW - am very tempted to do the same as an very fed up with wearing maternity jeans this fall down and create v unattractive additional fat rolls (it's the jeans fault not mine) and the fact that none on my non-mat clothes fit! Do lets know if it works even with the additional bf points! Transfer success night night
