Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

Missmarbles is 17 weeks on Wednesday, MrsNSmile

Feel like she hasn't fed properly at all today. Tiny feeds and lots of messing about even with nothing to distract her she was distracted. And found it hilarious. And exposed me several times Blush She took a good feed about an hour ago, and is having another now prebed, but I hope age doesn't decide to make up for it overnight. Hope it's back to normal tomorrow. I'm going to be really disciplined about expressing and giving a bottle a day, then we can have a proper child-free date Sge did really well and took 3oz and was really excited when she saw the bottle Grin

Your cake sounded amazing V. Sorry today was hard work. I've found it hard not to be irritated when DH hasn't been well and I know you can't help being ill.

Love your running commentary Goat! Missmarbles is very vocal too. I love the noisesGrin

Must put DD1 to bed now Missmarbles is down. Hope she sleeps well....

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 04/11/2012 19:55

Babylump was 5 weeks old yesterday mrsn , can't believe how quickly time has gone. She's very quickly losing that newborn squishyness :( although its being replaced by yummy baby squidgy thighs and hamster cheeks now she's putting on weight so its all still lovely :)

susie nightmares are horrible aren't they, I think the leaving your baby somewhere dream must be a common one I've had similar with both DDs, and my DM said she used to dream about leaving me on the train when I was tiny. I used to have a spider dream too, I'd wake up thinking I could see a huge one dangling just above my head and panic, jump up and turn all the lights in before a grumpy DH woke me properly and reminded me it was "that bloody dream again". Used to happen when I was really stressed like around exam time or wedding planning. Haven't had it in a while luckily.

My middle DSis is home from uni for a couple of days, we're under a blanket with babylump watching Harry potter with a little glass of wine and some chocolate Grin

We got our new car today Grin quite excited, can't pick it up until next week though so will be getting impatient by tomorrow!

Have the sleepy mice visited everyone yet?

MrsNPattz · 04/11/2012 20:42

Feeding here, I'm hoping it's the last one before bed but I'm not so sure!

I have a question re expressing, I read somewhere that night milk is different to day time and helps them become sleepy. Therefore, if I expressed in the morning and he had it at night he would miss a night time feed - would this effect his sleep? Thanks in advance.

v glad your day went well despite the problems, I would love some cake please Smile

heff sounds like a lovely night!

Hope we all get good nights!

Smicha · 04/11/2012 21:23

Mini smich is almost 6 weeks and getting huge! He's put on over 4lb since birth!

I need to go to bed but ds has fallen asleep on me on the sofa and he took so long to settle that I'm scared to make the transfer!

Glad your christening went will mummyv! Is have felt just like you did about dh leaving early.

I keep having weird dreams too. Often think I'm squashing ds, even when he isn't in the bed!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 04/11/2012 21:40

Thanks for all the messages, we had another rubbish night last night :( such a shame as we were just getting some good nights

Glad the Christening went well MummyV? thanks for the cake :)

Goat Grin at the aerobics and commentary. MiniPop seems to have found his voice yesterday and likes to chat while having his nappy changed.

MrsN how's little one now after his sick incident? My LO is 23 weeks, 13 weeks corrected.

Evil [shocked] no chocolate? Oh no, that's up there with losing internet connection or breaking my phone I think [gri]

Small Gaviscon will make your little one constipated, it's one of the downsides to it, it makes the milk thicker, but then the poo too. Are you able to give cooled boiled water? which will help (can't remember if it was this thread where someone had a LO not putting on enough weight & only taking small feeds).

susieloo if I slept long enough I think I'd dream about 8 hours sleep too Grin

My DP is equally as crap, he never does night feeds or morning feeds (in fact I can count on my fingers and toes the number of feeds he's done in 23 weeks), he slept till gone 10am this morning, has been lounging on the sofa most of the day (excpet when we went out for lunch), got home then moaned he was tired. When I asked him if he'd heard LO at 5am this morning,0 he said yes, that's when I put earplugs in Angry

Sending waves to everyone on this post, and here's hoping for a better night tonight (please!!) :)

MiniPopsMum2012 · 04/11/2012 21:46

ahh Tea we did that too, do you have any of the clothes Baby Tea was first in? I have one of his very first vests when he was a 3lb bag of chicken bones, it's so tiny. Makes me cry thinking of how small he was and what he had to go through...

Does anyone else think transferring LO into bed is like a game of Jenga? If I actually get him into the cot without waking him up, I think have to try and arrange blankets and arms etc.... all without making him startle & waking him up...

MrsNPattz · 04/11/2012 21:59

I was right about it not being the last feed before bed - it nearly was, but no, here we are again!

mini he is ok, thank you for asking. I'm just paranoid he is going to do it again so keeping the iPad out if the way!! How is mini mini? Grin

missingmymarbles · 04/11/2012 22:12

HahhaGrin Mini at the transfer being like jenga!!
I kept a nappy of every size, beginning with the ones that they wear in the incubators that are the size of a pocket tissue.

BabylonPI · 04/11/2012 22:23

Well DS is now asleep. How long for is anyone's guess!

I made him a bottle of formula and got my friend to feed it to him, and he took less than an ounce :( He played with it and messed about and I changed him, then I tried the bottle again but to no avail!

So I put him on the boob, and 10 minutes later he was sleeping like, well, like a baby!

I'm going to see the breast feeding counsellor on Tuesday, both of DDs were on bottles by 8 weeks and in a routine of sorts and sleeping through by 12 weeks. This is new territory for me, so I'm going to find out if there's anything else I can do to help him sleep through.

Failing that I shall just persevere, he will have to sleep through eventually!!!

Wishing sleepy mice to visit all, and liberally sprinkling baby sleepy dust to everyone :)

TeaandHobnobs · 04/11/2012 22:33

Minipopsmum yes, the tiniest one we have is one of those Teddy and Me rompers for 1.5-2.5kg - we couldn't believe he was ever that small! I know I've saved way more clothes than I would ever need in tiny baby and newborn size fingers crossed if I have another it won't be prem, and if DS had gone to term he would have been a whopper I think but his tiny baby clothes especially are my favourites. The clothes are all going into storage in DH's lockup together with the Moses basket and pram carrycot - who knows when we will see them again?!

My face is sodding killing me - the painkillers aren't doing much today (not helped by me missing a dose entirely at 3am this morning). Also it's high dose ibuprofen, which I know isn't the best thing to be taking when BFing, but I'm trying not to feed DS within 2 hours of taking - we are getting by just about, but the little munchkin seems to have turned into a bottle refuser Angry just what I need... He made a valiant effort at drinking from the storage pot instead, but it did mainly go over his face and body Hmm I think operation sippy cup will have to commence! We tried him with some pear purée today, he loved it!

I am crap at transferring him to the crib, unless he is super fast asleep. I nearly always startle him as I'm putting him down (if I haven't half dropped him in as I'm trying to turn him round the right way) and he starts crying - thankfully sticking the dummy in at that point usually rectifies the situation!

Right, must sleep....

Baby evil has slept all day, So I guess I'm in for a rough night. Ive even bathed him, he is very awake.
Still no chocolate in the house, but that has to be a good thing. I've not lost any weight.

Here is to alot of sleepy dust.
Evil

funchum8am · 05/11/2012 00:00

Babyfunch like baby evil has slept all day. We drove back from Yorkshire to London so it was a blessing as she didn't scream for the journey but I guess she won't sleep much now. She fed at about 7 and woke just now but strangely didn't cry, so not sure if there is something wrong as surely she should be starving? I am feeding her anyway and she is bfing fine but will be keeping an eye on things.

I am in work tomorrow for a keeping in touch day - meeting with the head to review exam results from my faculty and then catching up with the ladies covering my leadership role. I may be a zombie if DD doesn't sleep....luckily the head has kids and is understanding! DM is here to look after babyfunch and is bringing her to school for feeding if bottle doesn't work (she takes a small amount but not a full feed yet.). If it all goes pear shaped it will have to be a half day and I'll go in for a second half day later to make up the time as they have.to pay you for a full day, even if you only go in for less, and I feel bad (taxpayers' money etc.). Looking forward to seeing everyone but dreading having to work after no sleep...why did I arrange this?!

Babyfunch is 5 weeks on Thursday mrsn

Everyone should check out MN Classics on long feeds, they are sooo funny!

Susieloo · 05/11/2012 01:22

First feed of the night so babyloo did 7-1 woop woopGrin and I had a nap this afternoon, feel better already, just warming up icy fingers and then transfer back to bed. Glad the christening went well mummy and thanks for the cake,

Babyloo is 17 weeks on Tuesday, I was going to start weaning him but he's still tongue thrusting so much I'm going to wait a couple of weeks.

Right back to bed because its freezingSmile

MummyV18 · 05/11/2012 01:27

Sad feed number 3 here already. Soooooo tired.

funchum8am · 05/11/2012 01:44

Feed 2 here - wish I had woken her up properly to take both blobs at feed 1. When will I ever learn?!

mummyv glad the christening went well and your frustration at the fact DH was struck down by illness at the wrong time is entirely understandable even though it isn't his fault. Sounds like you did a great job in a tough situation and made a fabulous cake too!

Really hope babyfunch now goes a good long stretch asleep....spreading the sleepy dust to you all....

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 02:34

vicky glad you had a good day, it's a shame about your DH though. Thanks for the cake Wink

mini a game of Jenga Grin very true

We've had no more green poop today thankfully, do have a GP appointment for us both tomorrow so ill mention it then. Just about to attempt nappy change then will have a wide awake baby but hopefully she'll feed more to sleep longer

Wishing all you ladies and babies lots of sleep and easy feeds and hopefully none of us will be back on here for a good few hours

Smallgreenone · 05/11/2012 02:34

Thanks minipops I shall try some cool boiled water and see if it works. So annoying to have sorted one problem only to gain another! How is mini minipops?
tea I feel so sorry for you and your teeth. My wisdom tooth was infected not long ago and it was agony.
Glad christening went well mummyv although rotten to have to do it on your own.
I'm getting another cold I think as have a very sore throat. Hope I don't pass it on to baby small again who is still snuffly from the last one. So annoying you can't take anything for it either.
Anyone know how much expressed milk a 10 week old should take at his dream feed? DH has given baby small a bottle and left it here and I can see he only had 2 oz out of a potential 4 so I'm a bit cross about the wasted milk and think he should have tried harder to wake baby small up a bit to take more so I might get a bit more sleep out of him but then maybe 2 oz is a good amount?

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 02:42

Damn I jinxed it, we had a greeny poo. BabyN is feeding gain so hopefully we'll get a good sleep between feeds

She's 17 days old today!! Just started to grow out of her tiny baby clothes, im going to keep some in a memory box that I still need to buy so we remember how tiny she was

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 02:43

Sorry small I have no idea how much they should take, I've wondered myself too

Goatbongosanonymous · 05/11/2012 03:17

Hello everyone! Second feed of night here, but much more awake thanks to dealing with the poonami. Confused

Kid is 15 weeks, 7 weeks corrected. Finally stopped talking at about 8:30 tonight. I think he has memorised the entire Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Sorry I csn't quite keep up with all your busy posting yesterday! Smile but funch thanks for the thread, I wasted loads of time in the afternoon reading that! And minipop and tea I have a romper suit from the first days, am now Shock at how tiny his 3lb self was. And people keep commenting now on how tiny he is now, when I think he's huge!

tea so Sadabout the teeth. That kind of pain is so awful. Hope you can sleep.

funch good luck for the KIT day.

evil Shock at no choc in house. That requires the fourth emergency service!

susie hooray for longer stretches tonight. Could you get LO to pass on the secret through the starlight barking?

babylon you obviously have a gourmand there!

small the kellymom website suggests multiplying the weight by 2.5 to get the number of oz needed in a day - you then divide by number of feeds.

Sorry I think I have left loads of people out but Kid is now fast asleep so am going for the transfer... Sleepy mice all round!

funchum8am · 05/11/2012 03:23

Back again and I am going to get a proper amount of milk into her this time! From my blobs (clearly I meant boobs in that last post!)

No idea re dream feeds in particular but I think a typical newborn feed is about 4.5oz.

Babyfunch is very sleepy so am off to focus on keeping her alert - possibly my constant posting on here to fend off boredom is making me neglectful of the job of feeding her properly!

MrsNPattz · 05/11/2012 03:27

First feed here, we got 4 hours so I'm pleased.

Aw marbles that nappy was tiny - cant imagine how small mini marbles was. It must have been awful for you all who had early babies - strong ladies Smile

tea sorry your teeth are being a 'pain' (sorry), really hope they settle down soon - it's hard enough without added extras.

evil I haven't lost any weight either!

funch it's funny you should say that about not crying because my little man just did the same - just lay there sucking his fingers! Strange. Confused

susie that's brilliant! But not so good for you v, hope you are now sleeping soundly.

small I read online about how you can roughly work it out how much they 'should' have but I can't remember which website - maybe Kellymum?

MummyV18 · 05/11/2012 04:13

Lol gost at 4th emergency service, wouldn't that be great (except we'd all get extremely fat)

evil I'm finding it so hard to loss weight now. Since the birth I've lost 2st but still have 1st 7lb to get back to pre-preg weight (I stuffed my face during pregnancy) I've been considering he gym recently as the membership includes a crèche & they take babies from birth.

I'm quite bleary eyed & tired so can't name check much more but I'm hoping your all asleep Smile but if your not.....

What items do you NEED with you for the night feeds?? I must have my phone fully charged and a drink. Now that baby J is in his own room I also leave my slippers & dressing gown out ready in the hallway.

Susieloo · 05/11/2012 04:25

2nd feed of the night and a full change of clothes because babyloo had managed to wee outside his nappy. He was very awake and is still very awake feeding now which means we could be up for a while-hate this time of the morning!!!!!

I always have to have my phone and a big drink of water and under my pillow I have some muslins and a torch.,

Babyloo is wide awake in his cot, think we will be up for an hour now Sad

MiniPopsMum2012 · 05/11/2012 04:58

So tired, another rubbish night here. Up at 1, 3 and feed at 415. Three coughing fits & one vomit. Poor live.

Will catch up with all the posts properly tomorrow, can't see straight, blurgh!
