Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

Our Baby massage class starts next week, I'm looking forward to it! Does anyone go/has anyone else been?

MrsNPattz · 02/11/2012 07:35

Oh and one more thing - lol - I downloaded 'babies the mumsnet guide' on iBooks and started reading it last night and would already recommend, it's a lot like this thread, a comfort to know you are not alone! Just something to read and relate to while feeding Smile

missingmymarbles · 02/11/2012 09:44

The beginning of the night was ok. First feed around 1. Up again at 3. Til 4. Had to co-sleep after that. Nearly had mini-melt down due to being cold and tired at 4 Sad Thank goodness things seem better in the morning, and Missmarbles is so cute, even at 4am.

Sorry there's been a host of rubbish nights.

Pomme the first few weeks are so painful, aren't they? The first two months are wicked. Everyone says if you're doing it right, it doesn't hurt but it does at first. The second month is easier than the first and the second two weeks are easier than the first two and the second week is easier than the first. The let down is truly toe-curling, and my boobs ached all over most of the time as well. BUT, this too shall pass and it DOES get easier. And you are doing so well to breast feed. Babypomme is getting gold-topWink

Sleepless nights, too, shall pass.

Hooray for DM's, HeffGrin I miss mine. We lived less than 10 miles from my parents when DD1 was a baby; now we are 200 miles away. And for good nutritious food.

Have a busy day today, and friends coming for dinner and I have no energy and soooo can't be bothered. And, besides Missmarbles is snoozing on my shoulder, and we are still in PJ's watching channel 4 comedy because DH took DD1 to schoolGrin

NervousAt20 · 02/11/2012 10:51

mrsn I'm interested to hear how you massage class goes, I want to go to one but LO has to be 6 weeks so we have a little to wait yet

TeaandHobnobs · 02/11/2012 12:42

MrsN we've just completed a baby massage course. I really enjoyed it, and I think DS did too, although he struggled to get through a whole session without a meltdown or needing to feed. I think he doesn't have the attention span for the whole massage routine, but he certainly enjoys bits of it, and I hope we will use it more as he gets older.

Thanks for thinking of me last night Smile I feel pretty ok today, not really in any pain, so that's good. I swapped rooms with DH at 6am, not that it really helped as DS woke at 7:30 and screamed the house down yet again - but it was nice not to be the one to deal with it for a change! He settled him with a cuddle and some teething gel, so it's reassuring to know he doesn't always need to feed when he does that (although I think if I'm there he likes to nurse for comfort). The Nelsons granules have been working well during the day, so I will try those at night - thanks for the suggestion mummyvicky (it was you who said that I think?)

My lovely mum is staying again tonight so DH and I can go see Skyfall - so pleased! Grin

Hope you are all having good Fridays, and that DHs and DPs will be around to give you a break this weekend Smile

MrsNPattz · 02/11/2012 13:34

nervous I will let you know how it is!

tea glad you had good experiences with it, and glad you are feeling ok! I'm jealous that you are going to see Skyfall EnvyGrin enjoy though, you deserve it!

Well I just managed to clean!! Managed to do the living and dining room, hall and downstairs loo, it actually made me feel quite normal for a while haha he was so good and just slept or sat quietly in his swing chair. I tried to squeeze in a shower before he woke up but he put a stop to that! Hoping I can manage one soon as I have a friend coming in a while.

Hubby has booked 3 days off for the week after next, so I just made appointments to get my hair done and some waxing - can't wait Smile

Glad it's Friday so we have hubby for the whole weekend Smile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 02/11/2012 14:07

Oh no, busy thread means lots of un-sleepy babies! :( Hello to everyone new, I can't keep track :) waves frantically

AmeyBee Sounds particularly tough, hope you manage to get some sleep..?

Yay for your DM HorridH, and pleased to read you're a happier bunny. Maybe all the rubbish nights are because of the full moon?

MrsN Glad you've had a better night, fingers crossed for more to come. I am on a list for baby massage, can't wait but think I'll enjoy it more than the LO

Marbles Cuteness certainly helps Grin although a lovely sleeping baby would help more :)

Tea How are you feeling post-teeth? Oooh cinema trip, that'll be nice. Hope BabyTea perks up with his teethy pegs (or that they make an appearance very soon)

Hello Pommes I think there's every reason to cry over spilt expressed milk, it's like liquid gold. When my LO was in NICU and I was haivng a nightmare with my milk/expressing, I spilt a whole bottle that had taken me an hour to painstakingly collect, and had a mini melt down in the kitchen. Wasn't pleasant. Confused

Glad my post amused, we've still got a poorly pumpkin that sounds like an old man who's been smoking 80 a day :) but no more projectile vomits yet. Monday night was particularty bad, as was Wednesday night, but MiniPop didn't sleep too badly last night despite his cold/cough.

Is anyone doing anything exciting today? It's freezing here. Sorry for the epic post, got lots to catch up on and sorry for anyone I missed. :) (and I'm on the laptop, so any typos are purely my fault - hehehehehe)

Ameybee · 02/11/2012 16:50

Frustratingly little one has slept all day & I can't sleep - grr! He was 6 weeks on Thursday n I'm starting to think we've hit growth spurt, he was so fussy last 2 nights and feeding on and off but falling to sleep really quickly on boob. I'm so knackered. Can anyone shed any light or advice? X

Susieloo · 02/11/2012 18:33

Bed times in our house are getting earlier and earlier!! Despite a few naps today babyloo was so hysterical by 6.15 that I had to bring him up to bed, we are already up by half five most mornings so I really don't want this to get any earlier!!

Hello to everyone and sorry for not name checking, I was so tired when feeding him last night that I physically couldn't keep my eyes open.

Some pillock is now setting off really loud bangers which is making babyloo jump and not helping me try to get him to go to sleepAngry

I am going straight to bed when babyloo goes down and am going to try and read for an hour-blissSmile

Hope everyone has good nights, see you all in a few hoursSmile

Smallgreenone · 02/11/2012 18:48

Someone is doing the same here susieloo don't people realise that this is the time for putting babies to bed!!!
We are doing a massage course at the moment mrsn, I really enjoy it and am trying to incorporate it into baby smalls bed routine but most days he's too overtired and grumpy to do it but we shall persevere. We managed it the other night and he smiled at me so think he enjoys it sometimes.
We've been to a Halloween party today dressed as mummy and baby pumpkins Grin. He was asleep most of the time but I enjoyed it!
Hoping for a big helping of sleepy dust tonight. See you later

MummyVicky18 · 02/11/2012 18:54

Evening all Smile let the fun begin Smile

Glad the granules are working for you tea

I've felt more 'normal' today to npattz mum & dad are off during half term so have been round at mine looking after baby J while I baked his christening cake & got the house straightened up a bit. It's been a welcome break even though I have still been busy. They have even offered to have him over night Grin to give us a break but as much as I miss my sleep I think I'd miss baby J more so we'll have to see

We have also brought baby J to bed early tonight. I think he's been tired out by my dad playing games, pulling faces etc lol

Right going to try put baby J down now speak to you all later Smile

daisychain76 · 02/11/2012 21:40

Hello everyone, Mrsn l used to teach baby massage and love it! As well as physical benefits for babies it is great for bonding~ lots of eye contact, speaking to baby and so on.
Not looking forward to tonight. DH normally takes over from 10 or 11pm for a couple of hours and gives a bottle of expressed milk (still using up supplies from when he was on nicu) but he has gone on his first post~baby trip to the pub tonight. He did say he?d be back by midnight, but l?m not convinced.
Just about to try and pop LO down after 2 hours of on and off feeding, but normally he o.ly lasts 40 mins or so until the early hours.
Hope we all have good nights.

Goatbongosanonymous · 02/11/2012 21:44

Good evening everyone...
First night of DH being away, so I wish everyone sleepy mice by the barrow load and avalanches of sleepy dust stares hard at Kid

Actually, he is very relaxed and half asleep at present. Someone upthread suggestd the car seat (Smicha?) and lo and behold! Blessed silence...

Goatbongosanonymous · 02/11/2012 21:45

tea hope the teeth in your household are settling down nicely!

Evilwater · 02/11/2012 21:49

Hello all,
Baby evil, is awful at night, last night he would only stop crying if he was asleep on my chest.
Tonight same pattern happening again, but I had to go for a pee, and by the time I came back baby evil had stopped crying!

I hope his is ok for a 4 week old. I can hear him whimper, but it's a miricale compared to last night. I know he is not hungry as he awoke for a feed and nappy changed.
Evil

TeaandHobnobs · 02/11/2012 22:00

I feel vindicated! My mum gave him some teething gel while DH and I were at the cinema, and she reckons his back teeth have broken through (weird baby, I'm sure the front ones are meant to come through first?!). So perhaps all the moaning, groaning and crying of the last two months haven't been for nothing?

Skyfall was awesome - you MUST GO. Palm your babies off on unsuspecting relatives or get to a cinema near you that does baby showings. It is AMAZING.

Unfortunately, whilst I remembered it was the local firework display tonight, and thought DH and I were ever so clever going to the cinema because it would be less busy with everyone down on the common, I a) forgot my poor cat would be shit scared and ought to have been kept in (luckily he appeared at the door pretty sharpish after they started and my mum kept him in), and b) didn't consider that DS wouldn't be able to sleep through it. My mum had just got him to sleep (by about 5 mins) when it all kicked off and woke him up. So she's been juggling a very grumpy overtired baby for 2 hours (although it seems such things really don't phase her...)

Goat I hope you are ok with DH away - I was crapping myself when DH was away overnight the second week we had DS home, but it was alright. How long is he away for? (I'm sure you already said, but I forgot Blush)

I am praying DS gives me a break tonight, I'm not sure how much patience I have left for all this two-hourly waking Angry Either it's his teeth (although I gave him a dose of nuerofen at 3am and it made sod all difference IMO) or we are having our 4 month (corrected) sleep regression. poor baby, it's not his fault, I'm so mean about him

Time to put DS into his crib...

Never mind. Evil

daisychain76 · 02/11/2012 22:34

Arrgh! After 30 seconds in his moses basket he is sick, requiring full change of clothes, cuddlesand another feed. Try again...

MiniPopsMum2012 · 02/11/2012 23:17

Well, it's been fun in the Pops household tonight. Poor MiniPop got so poorly I had to take him to the drs emergency clinic, who then sent him straight to Paed A&E at the hospital. He has viral baby bronchitis, with a wheezy left lung, so there's nothing they can do except let it run it's course.

He's been coughing stuff up, I say coughing but actually it's coughing until he's sick. Poor little mite.

It too three hours in total to get him sorted, and not long been home so am behind on all my nighttime duties (sterilising bottles, making formula etc...) and wont get to be for ages. And who knows how settled he'll be.. hey ho!

Wishing you all lots of sleepy dust.

Daisy you mentioned NICU, is your LO a premmie? (Sorry if I've missed this upthread Blush)

Good luck Goat am sure you'll be fine,

tea I am dreading the fireworks tomorrow, they're right by our house and poor MiniPop is already really jumpy! Confused lots of cuddles may be in order tomorrow night.

Right better get off they lappy and make some milk

Susieloo · 02/11/2012 23:22

1st feed of the night and I am attempting a dream feed, babyloo starting to stir so I've picked him up and done a quick nappy change and now he's feeding, last few times I've done a dream feed its gone wrong and he's started crying or then woke up again after an hour.

Hope baby evil is ok and really hope you get a good night tea.

Hoping for another feed at two rather than the dreaded 3-4 particularly with such an early bed time, really don't fancy a two hour awake stint.

I managed about twenty minutes with my book before I fell asleep so hoping it will help me through tonight, I do feel though like I haven't been asleep!!

Scattering sleepy dust and releasing sleepy mice to everyoneSmile

Susieloo · 02/11/2012 23:25

minipop how scary for youSad did they say how long it will take to run its course? Really hope you manage to get some rest later, sending you an unmn hug.

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 02/11/2012 23:46

Crickey minipop that sounds so scary and stressful, hope you're ok and poor baby minipop gets well soon. How long did they say 'running its course' would take?

Good luck tonight while your DH is away goat , hope kid is kind to you and lets you get some sleep.

tea really glad you enjoyed yourselves. I'm desperate to see it but no mum & baby showings at my local cinema :(

Well, babylump hasn't had a good evening we had a two hour screaming session where no matter what I did it wasn't right and poor baby just got more worked up. Eventually rocked her to sleep, she's been asleep on me for about an hour while we watch a film and now about to attempt the dreaded transfer.

Fingers crossed for good nights all round :)

MummyVicky18 · 02/11/2012 23:49

Oh mimipop that's awful poor babypop & poor you (hugs) I hope LO gets better soon xx

Goatbongosanonymous · 03/11/2012 00:24

minipop what a scare for you! Hope all is on the mend and you all get lots of rest and recuperation tonight.

Sleepy mice all round, especially to all those having a tough time.

funchum8am · 03/11/2012 00:43

evil I reckon the only sleeping on you sounds normal for four weeks. Babyfunch is that age and often sleeps on me but yells if moved. Means I get a lot less sleep than I would like!

heff that sounds sooo stressful...poor you. And minipop, thinking of you and poor baby....hope he gets well very very soon.

Babyfunch slept almost solidly from 3 as we were in the car and then DH put her in the baby Bjorn to go round the shops, which was great at the time. However she woke and fed at 8.45 but otherwise was sleeping the whole time so of course is now awake. I have to start on a stricter routine sometime soon as she is getting into the habit of massive evening sleeps and then up all night from midnight!

Tried again with bottle today and she took a tiny bit in her mouth but didn't swallow so still can't expect DH to so night feeds just yet. One day....

Lots of sleepy dust to one and all...
