Hello!
Carrying on are good work from the first thread , how do we keep are selfs awake? By chatting to each other sleepy heads!

OP posts:
Smicha · 13/10/2012 06:45

Up again, with sick on my pyjamas and in my bed. Oh the glamour! Tried to feed lying down which I haven't done since hospital and that was the result! I did find it quite relaxing though so will give it another go tomorrow night (or should I say tonight seeing as it's almost time to get up!)

goat DS does like the car as it puts him to sleep so I'm hoping for a sleepy journey so he'll be wide awake for all the cuddles he's going to get when we get there!

minipop I'm in Cambridgeshire, not too far from Cambridge itself.

mummyvicky we got married in Derbyshire, it's such a beautiful part of the country.

MrsNPattz · 13/10/2012 07:09

Thanks minipops and heffalumps - yea it's horrible to hear him, I will keep an 'ear' on it Blush

I am from Chester but now live in sunny Aberdeen Hmm really miss my family Sad but mum is coming to visit a week today Smile

Hope everyone is doing ok

Smallgreenone · 13/10/2012 07:18

mummyvicky we're in Derbyshire too, Buxton. Which bit are you?

Goatbongosanonymous · 13/10/2012 07:47

Trying to feed again as Kid was telling me how hungry he is at top volume, but he is now lying looking at my boob as if he has never seen one before. With a bemused smile on his face.
smicha I so recommend the early morning naps! DH often takes kid for an hour or two on a Saturday morning which is a lifesaver. I'm hoping for this morning! Although I have to finish some marking by Monday (despite being on maternity leave!) so maybe should do that instead.
I live in the very west of west London. Though am from the other side of the world and am very very excited as we have booked tickets for next summer. Have not been over since 2007. Although wish me luck for a 24 hour flight with a one year old!

BabylonPI · 13/10/2012 07:48

Hey mummyvicky smallgreenone I'm Derbyshire too Grin

South Derbyshire though for me, 4 miles south of Derby City Centre Smile

BabylonPI · 13/10/2012 07:53

Well another great night here, baby Babylon went down after last feed at 9.30 and woke up very briefly at 2, but was happily pacified by Ewan, then he woke at 5.30 to feed and is now back sleeping again Grin

I seem to have started an epidemic of Ewan purchases Grin I really ought to he getting commission shouldn't I!! Wink

Smicha · 13/10/2012 08:05

You really should be on commission babylon!

I'm wide awake and DS is still snuffling like a little piglet! I'd give anything for him to sleep this late on days we don't have to get up to go on a long drive. Grrr.

Susieloo · 13/10/2012 08:06

I've just bought a ewan to go in babyloo's room at my parentsGrin we spend so much time there I'm trying to have as much stuff there as possible so we don't have to keep lugging stuff backwards and forwards. If ewan is more successful than my projector thingy then he might end up at my houseSmile

BabylonPI · 13/10/2012 08:21

SusieLoo I predict a swap over coming up very soon GrinGrin

We keep stuff at both parents too, to save lugging loads of stuff around!

My DM is great, she bought a ridiculously expensive bouncer chair for DS and brothers DS to use, there's a Moses basket and travel cot there as well as bottles, feeding bowls, spoons, and lots of little angels shampoo and baby bath etc - means we can do an impromptu stopover if we need to!! Wink

MummyVicky18 · 13/10/2012 08:50

Oh not far from you at all smallgreenone & babylonpi I'm in chesterfield.

funchum8am · 13/10/2012 09:36

I am in northwest London, between Harrow and Uxbridge, probably not far from you goatbongos.

Trying to leave the hotel and go into Oxford now but babyfunch has decided she needs a megafeed, which takes an hour or so!

Goatbongosanonymous · 13/10/2012 11:32

Indeed not far funch as I am in Uxbridge itself.

Finally got to sleep (both of us) at 7:15 and had two lovely hours. Just off out for some fresh air and a walk in the park - which happens to have a kiosk that serves fantastic hot chocolate.

ReturnOfTheMunx · 13/10/2012 12:01

Hello all so sorry I haven't been very good at keeping up to date, I read the thread on night feeds but am not very good at typing while feeding!

My Ewan has arrived! What do you do with yours? Is there one sound better than the others or is it trial and error? There seems to be a lot of choice!

TeenyMunx had a rubbish night, he's been feeding in a very annoying way all snacks and slipping his latch. I went to our bf support group on Thursday pm and got the latch checked and its fine but he doesn't always open his mouth wise enough and gets cross with me for delaying him getting on.

Dh us out with dd(weemunx) and teenymunx is asleep on me hence I can update!

Good luck today ladies.

missingmymarbles · 13/10/2012 12:08

I'm in the midlands in Leicestershire but we've only been here 18 months having moved from the north east, and we miss it.

Babylon should definitely be on commission! I can't wait for Ewan to get here. I have high hopes for him as iPhone white noise was very useful last night. We had a good night but I fell asleep after the second feed at 4.30 oops! And then it disturbed Missmarbles when I tried to put her back in the cot Confused By that time she was nearly slept out so had to bring her in with us again.

Coughing is horrid MrsN Sad sympathy for that.

Hi Vicky

Happy Saturdays everyone Smile

For some reason, this didn't post earlier Hmm Anyway, in the meantime...
Ewan has arrived!!!!

ReturnOfTheMunx · 13/10/2012 12:15

Ewan is working his magic as I type!

MrsNPattz · 13/10/2012 12:26

munx I have only used the heartbeat foot on Ewan, and I put him at the top of the Moses basket - I would be interested to hear how other people use him cause I'm not sure he always works for me Confused fess up babylon Grin

Susieloo · 13/10/2012 14:12

3 month growth spurt has started today i think, babyloo has been feeding every 40 minutes since 05.30am, I wonder if miss marbles will follow suit!!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 13/10/2012 14:40

susieloo I'm sat watching DH pt 2 now while amazingly both DDs are asleep. I think Harry Potter education a vital part of any upbringing (DH is snorting with disdain as I write that!) enjoy your film fest with dss :)

smicha I'm with you on the glamour front, you know you've truly reached motherhood when your choice of a 'clean' top is one that "only has a little bit of sick on it"!

Oh wow goat and funchum I'm in Uxbridge too, that seems amazing given how far and wide other mumsnetters are situated. If either if you fancy a real life hot chocolate one day let me know Grin

munx baby lump has been snacking on & off since last night it's so annoying I want her to just take a good feed and leave my poor nipples alone for a bit! I've been wondering if my let down is a bit much for her too as she latches on for a minute and gulps away but then often comes off and cries while milk goes everywhere and drenches me until I can latch her on again.

babylon your DM sounds lovely, its really helpful not to have to remember everything every time you go out. My DM & DMIL did that when DD1 was born and it meant many an impromptu stop over when things got fraught in the evening! Unfortunately the ILs now live in Cornwall so we don't get to see them as much, but in contrast we're temporarily living with my family while we save for our relocation so we're reaping the benefits of lots of live in help!

Sorry if I've missed any replies phones aren't great for scrolling so I've probably missed a page!

Hope everyone's having lovely restful Saturdays :)

Goatbongosanonymous · 13/10/2012 15:26

Heffalump a rl hot choc would be fantastic!

Between us all we have a veritable herd of Ewans! Expecting mine early next week, can't wait.

Munx the way they sometimes seem to forget to feed can be frustrating, can't it? Hope he settled down.

Mrsn hope the cough is getting better.

funchum8am · 13/10/2012 18:00

Definite yes to a hot choc in Uxbridge - that park with the good hot choc cafe sounds nice!

Babyfunch was brilliant at the wedding and also in Oxford this morning. However now she sounds like she's doing what yours have been munx and heff: she has this afternoon decided to feed solidly (though she has long periods of just lying there latched on but not actually sucking/swallowing unless I tickle her) and then get the rage when she falls off. Then when I try to latch her on again she's crying too hard to do it. The only thing that has stopped her crying is white noise (Sleepy Sounds app on the phone/iPad) so I am hoping Ewan will work well when he arrives! The app is all very well in the daytimes but I can't really leave my phone or iPad in her bed at night, so hopefully Ewan will plug that gap in the market.

DH has just got back from rugby so I am going for a nap while he takes over!!!

MummyVicky18 · 13/10/2012 19:43

Evening all,
just fed ds and put him down for the night. Fingers crossed he stays asleep as he has a habit of waking up 30 mins later.

I've just been on the phone to the Cow & Gate line to get some sleep advice & poo advice. Just got to keep an eye on his poop and got to get ds to try to fall asleep on his own - currently he falls asleep on me whilst bf and no other way. I don't want this to be a habit for too long. Sad

Oh and after all the Ewan talk I mentioned it to my hubby and we have also bought one Smile

ReturnOfTheMunx · 13/10/2012 19:53

TeenyMunx is in the Moses with ewan......fingers crossed.

Have slathered lasinoh on, am very sore tonight.

Just hope his weird feeding hasn't caused inefficient milk transfer and affected my supply (over thinking asa usual!)

Dinner and strictly before the next feed.

Really hope tonight is a better night, would love a small Wine but frequency of feeds and cosleeping prevents Sad

MiniPopsMum2012 · 13/10/2012 20:45

Goat chocolate digestives of course! :)

Well, after the 4am feed Minipop slept for, ooooh, all of half an hour before waking up. Couldn't get him back down so he slept on me, upright, until his 8:30am feed. So annoyed as we were doing so well.
I have been a wreck today, so tired, and the lack of sleep isn't helping get rid of my cold. I even left the door keys in the front door Blush luckily DP found htem when he came home.

Susieloo I feel the same way, DP hardly does anything. He will take him if I ask and it suits him but he hasn't done a night feed or an early morning feed.
I do get to go back to bed for an hour occasionally, but only if MiniPop is already sorted.

Smicha I can't remember the last time glamour and me were associated Grin

Oooh Buxton, Small, Lovely! My DP is from Burton on Trent, so we're always in the midlands. I love it up there, really wish we could move. I am from London, born and bread zone 1, but we moved 12 miles south of London (just past Croydon) when MiniPop was born to rent a house, as we lived in a damp, dark 1 bed basement flat.
Heffa I love Cornwall, that's a big change from just outside LOndon. Lovely. :)

My DP's parents are so over the moon with MiniPop that they've bought loads of stuff up there so we dont have to take it up with us when we go. Phew!

Do we think a Ewan would work on a 19wk old premmie? Grin

See you all back on here about 4am I should think? or rather, hopefully I won't see you all as your babies will sleep perfectly for you all...

MrsNPattz · 13/10/2012 20:45

vicky I would be interested to hear how you get on with the sleeping as my little fella only falls asleep on boob or us!

I have felt very grumpy and emotional today - but just had a nap at the same time as J so hopefully a bit more prepared for night shift. Hubby just making tea - super late for us!

My boobies are feeling sore at the moment, almost like they do when you have your period. They are fine when he feeds so not sure what is going on.

Weighed myself earlier and I am actually putting on weight!! Obviously eating far too much but I can't seem to stop ConfusedBiscuit has anyone tried to 'diet' while breast feeding?

All for now Smile

twizzlestix · 13/10/2012 21:04

Hello all,

I've been lurking for a week or two now and have decided to de-lurk and ask to join you all in attempting to stay awake for night feeds. Baby twizzlestix is 5 weeks and tends to go about 2 hours between feeds, last night we had 5!!!! Hours I have to confess I woke her up because my breasts were very painful, I couldn't even sleep on my side! I paid for this with 1hr sleeps then feeds until 6:30am though, then it was wake up time :(

I too, whilst lurking, have ordered a Ewan. I have high hopes after reading all the reviews! Here's hoping tonight goes well. I'm just about to put her down...
