I have a ten-day old baby, and i'm looking at having to giving up EBFing and maybe BFing altogether, although still expressing away like mad. Having assumed that BFing would work out, i'm a little unprepared for FFing (and Bottlefeeding expressed milk), and i'm finding the routine a little daunting, quite aside from all the emotional struggle this has involved. I thought i found a support thread but i've lost it now. Can anyone help point me in the direction of some help?!

Hi, can I join? Dd is 1 week old today and we started ff from 5 days. I bf my ds for 6 weeks, but this time round I knew I would have to ff almost from beginning as I have restarted medication which is not suitable when bf.

I had a little cry on weds, but it is ok now.
I make my bottles up using the bit of hot water (40ml) and then add powder, then cooled boiled water (50ml). This makes it perfect drinking temp. I am lucky that my bottles (mam) have measuring things on caps.

I measure out the powder in advance in a container for ease at night feeds!

So sorry for hi-jacking thread but just nipped on and saw raininginbaltimore name (I'm not stalking Grin) I remember posting on some of your threads before you had dd. Just to say congratulations, hope all is going well.

pandaspanial hi, are you getting anymore sleep? you have done amazingly to get so far.

I've started weaning my DS and loving it! Whilst having a baby with a huge appetite made milk feeding challenging -both breast, mixed and bottle, he is enjoying his food. I think it has made me feel better too that he is eating something I've prepared (I know it sounds bonkers). I guess reflecting on the dark days when breast feeding didn't work out, there will be other parts of the feeding/parenting journey that will come easier for those of us that struggled with the milk thing than those that didn't.

HI, I keep giving in and BF at night. I find it so much easier and love snuggling with him. Now he is weaning he feeds a little bit less at night around every 3 to 3 and a half hours so its getting better.

Now I am worrying about him not drinking enough milk in the day lol

My DS still feeds twice a night and he's FF -Everyday he eats more solids and I think maybe tonight-but no! There is always something new to worry about isn't there!

Yup! He has gone down to tiny feeds during the day 2oz at a time, so its hardly surprising that he still needs night feeds. He isn't eating a huge amount either. I am mainly using the stage 1 pouches and he will eat half of one at breakfast, a full one at dinner and sometimes a full one at tea.

I am going to mix his formula with breakfast from now on so as he gets older and eats more at least he will be getting the formula with his cereal. I am not too worried as he has started to put weight on at a good rate and is very happy and content.

Am hoping to continue with the BF at night, it isn't making a difference to how long he sleeps when I give him formula so I may as well enjoy a big snuggle with him.
