MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

She's down again. Hope we get to 7 now. DD1 is now in bed with me because she had a nightmareSad It's hard going isn't it Babylon? My DH is home tomorrow too - yayGrin

BabylonPI · 14/09/2012 17:22

Baby B is having a growth spurt!!

We have reverted to a max of 2 hours between feeds in the last 24 hours.

It could be a long night Hmm

Susieloo · 14/09/2012 18:42

Good luck babylon growth spurts are hard going.

I've had a very sleepy baby today so hope he won't be up too much tonight, we had another 5 hour stretch last night so hoping for a repeat of that, we did manage a lovely two hour nap this afternoon which I really needed but I think we could be on for bed at nine and then up at twelve and four rather than nine or ten until half three/four.

Oh and if anyone has any tips for winding the baby other than patting or rubbing his back I'd be really grateful!!

Have a good night everyone!! Grin

missingmymarbles · 14/09/2012 18:43

Oh Babylon! I hope you get some sleep.
I came on to say we have had a much more normal day and Missmarbles seems to be back to herself after her snuffly cold do hoping we go back to having longer stints tonight. Last night, after her 11-3, we were up again at 5, 6 and 7.40 and that was only coz at 6 I lifted her in with me to dream feed.

missingmymarbles · 14/09/2012 18:45

Susie our babies really do seem to pattern with each other Grin Have you tried laying babyloo on his tummy along your arm to rock him for winding?

frillylemons · 14/09/2012 19:16

Good news...babyfrilly slept well last night. She fed a lot during the day and then went about 2 hours between each feed Smile. However, we've been busy seeing people today and she's done a lot of sleeping so not sure how tonight goes. Trying not to worry about it though. I've been waking her for feeds every 2 hours this afternoon/evening so hopefully that'll help Smile

Susieloo · 14/09/2012 21:07

Babyloo has been asleep since seven with a couple of tiny feeds at about eight which he could barely stay awake for, might be a delayed reaction to his jabs all this sleeping. I've tried to dream feed him before and he's never woken up enough so I'm going to just leave him be tonight. Not quite sure what sort of night I'm in for!!

Sending sparkly sleep dust to everyoneSmile

missingmymarbles · 15/09/2012 01:13

1 since 8.30. Hopefully will do at least another 4 1/2 hours; 6 would be nice but I'll settle for 41/2

MiniPopsMum2012 · 15/09/2012 02:03

Morning everyone, Minipop had a feed at half nine, a mini screaming session at 11:30pm for half an hour, but then went back to sleep.

Woke him up at 1:30am for a feed, which he didn't even stay awake for, so I am watching big bang theory & scrubs whoke

MiniPopsMum2012 · 15/09/2012 02:04

Opps, stoopid phone!

While I count down the 30 mins until I can put hin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 15/09/2012 02:06

Arrgh!
Put him back door down to we're also ordering a cot next week as he's getting really big for his basinette :)

how's everyone else doing.

frilly how goes it with baby frilly?

Xx

Susieloo · 15/09/2012 03:21

Evening allSmile

Second feed of the night and it will be interesting to see if he is wide awake now or will go back to sleep okay, really hoping for a mammoth feed now to put him back to sleep.I'm rally enjoying spending some of the evening with dp now when babyloo is in bed rather than going straight to bed with him but I'm feeling more knackered because of it!!

I was dreaming about this thread when babyloo woke me up!!!

missingmymarbles · 15/09/2012 03:56

Hi. We're here too. Second feed of the night 2 1/2 hours since the last.....

Lush17 · 15/09/2012 04:02

Morning, well we had a long afternoon again yesterday where little legs was fighting her sleep and wanted feeding on and off which I can only assume was for comfort more than anything!! But she eventually went off and we both got a couple of hours sleep. Last night she went off at half 8 and she woke just after 3 for just over a 10 min feed, I am now just making sure she had totally gone before I put her back in jet cot.

Let's see what the rest of the day brings Smile

Hope you all have a good day. xx

MiniPopsMum2012 · 15/09/2012 05:35

Well, Minipop made it to almost 4 hours, but has only taken 60ml before falling asleep and I can't wake him up so that's a right pain in the arse as he'll be awake again in 2 hours wanting more.... Bah!

Have jaffa cakes & revels to keep me company, and awake, tonight!

JezzaJ9 · 15/09/2012 05:43

Hi all, new to this thread. Have a darling DS2 9.3 weeks, EBF baby just up for 3rd feed and struggling to settle.... I really want to be a sleep but am feeling the urge to just get up. Anyone else awake Grin

Susieloo · 15/09/2012 08:04

Morning, hello jezza, sometimes I do just get up when he is awake really early and obviously not planning on going back to sleep,

Our babies do seem to be following the same pattern marblesGrin babyloo seems to do one big stretch and then go back to 2.5 or 3 hours until we get up, I think after a sleepy day he will require a lot of entertaining today!!

I can't wake babyloo up for a feed either minipop

Babyloo may have started to realize he is actually quite full after nine and a half weeks of guzzling!! Feeds seemed to have eased off finally and he wasn't screaming for a feed this morning. Also getting some boob refusal or he is uncomfortable in his feeding position, something's bugging him anyway, perhaps he just doesn't need as much food!!

Have a good day everyone Grin

Susieloo · 15/09/2012 08:07

Glad you had an easier night lush

missingmymarbles · 15/09/2012 08:54

Hello Jezza Smile

Susie I'm working on extending those long periods Wink Although last night was an epic fail on those stakes. We were up again at 5 and then 6 I just sat up in bed and dozed while she slept on my chest til 7. I think though if she could just get her thumb to stay in her mouth she wouldn't be up so much, because each time I looked in the crib, she had her eyes shut and was after her thumb, and went I put her to the breast she only had a couple of sucks and fell asleep again.

Well done, baby LushGrin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 15/09/2012 22:17

Hey Jezza :D

Susie MiniPop is a bit like that (uncomfortable in feeding position), I think he needs to poop and it's causing him discomfort in that region, and he's also a bit colicky too, which doesn't help as I think the [bottle] feeding position puts pressure on his tummy.

Marbles I had to resort to that the other morning (MiniPop lying on my chest while I snoozed in bed) after the every-two-hour-waking episode! :)

Lush how did you get baby Lush to go 8:30-3? that's impressive! :D

So, MiniPop has had big feeds today, and he's currently asleep but due a feed at about 11pm, hopefully I can get another big bottle into him and he'll sleep a bit longer (I can hope!).

missingmymarbles · 15/09/2012 22:47

Evening allSmile

We've had a lovely and busy day today, so am really hoping Missmarbles sleeps a bit longer. Her main day nap was a bit interrupted and she made up for it by not waking til 4.30 so we'll see how she goes tonight. She fell asleep at 8.30 after her last feed but woke up as I was zipping her into her sleeping bag at 9. She required a quick suck to settle again, but then little monkey, woke up at half nine and was gurgling with her eyes half shut when I went up, she was laughing but barely awake. I rocked her to sleep without a feed so am hoping she won't wake til at least 2 or 3Hmm which would be in line with what she had started doing last weekend. I'm really hoping she will start and extend that long stretch.

Hope everyone else gets a long restful sleep tonight. I am sure I'll be checking in in the early hours, whilst trying to stay awake for a feedGrin

Susieloo · 16/09/2012 00:11

Oh dear- first feed of the night over here, babyloo had a busy day too and seems to be stuck on having his main nap late afternoon so didnt wake up till five, went to bed at nine and is now feeding like he is ravenous!! I was too knackered to resist the pull of my bed tonight so managed to read for forty minutes and then was asleep by ten hoping to be awake again by one or two or even three!!! need to not let him have two hour naps anymore I think.

Hoping for an easy settle and then I think we will be back around fourSmile

Have a good night everyoneGrin

JezzaJ9 · 16/09/2012 00:19

Good evening, on first feed now yeh! Chimp2 moved into cot from mb tonight he is a long boy, slightly nervous about re- settling. We have not got a nap routine yet just go with the flow but he slept for abot 3.5 hours on and off which I think is normal....

MiniPopsMum2012 · 16/09/2012 00:44

So, Minipop has just slept from about 8pm until midnight, I actually woke him up as he slept through his 11pm details feed and was a bit worried.

He's just sleepily taken a bottle and gone straight back to sleep - hope he's ok! I don't know if his reflux medication is working and this is how much he's meant to be sleeping, or if something is up?

How funny eh? Spend my time hoping he'll sleep longer, then worry when he does Grin

Susieloo · 16/09/2012 00:51

Hi jezza and minipop

I worry about babyloo when he is too sleepy as well minipop. He hasn't settled yet and is now asleep on my shoulder after another feed, hope he goes down now-till seven!! That won't happenGrin
