MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

4.45am Hmm

DS needs to talk to the sleep fairy I think Wink Although he is now back fast asleep and I am wide awake again Confused

Off to the local children's adventure farm today - should be a great day Grin

Babylon1 · 10/08/2012 08:03

Well I didn't bother going back to sleep! I've cherished the best part of the day instead!!

I oiked ds out of bed and we took a lovely stroll down to the village shop together for newspapers and fresh bread!! He's now having his 2nd breakfast of the day and I feel lovely and refreshed, though I daresay by 4pm I'll be flagging!!! Grin

Babylon1 · 10/08/2012 17:06

Ok, now I'm flagging!! But what a brilliant day Grin

TeaandHobnobs · 10/08/2012 17:10

Glad you had a good time Babylon, sounds great fun! Grin Hope you get a good night tonight.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 10/08/2012 18:34

Well last night was a bit of a mission, Minipop slept beautifully from 8pm until I had to wake him to feed around midnight.
Then it all went pear shaped and I got about 4 hours sleep total in short bursts.

Hopefully tonight will be better, although today has been quite an adventure park so I reckon he is going to be a little imp again Confused

Susieloo · 10/08/2012 21:25

Glad you had a good day babylon I know what you mean about the best time of the day, I'm starting to enjoy my one cup of coffee at about half four in the morning.

I think I'm in for a long night too minipop baby susieloo does not like the heat at all and has been feeding non stop pretty much since about five this evening, he's had really short naps so is over tired, over hot and pissed off, a bit like me!!

Really unusual for him but he really doesn't want to be put down to sleep and is managing fifteen minutes before waking himself up and getting very cross, I've had to put him in a short sleeve babygro because otherwise he screams the house down when his back touches the mattress so it's no blanket tonight.

Think it could be a long night.

Oh and a first today when I changed his nappy and he managed to wee in his hair!!

TeaandHobnobs · 10/08/2012 21:51

Damnit missed yet another opportunity to put DS to bed at a sensible time - he had been snacking and napping all afternoon and evening, and I said to myself "right, before he properly falls asleep I will get his bed ready so I can put him down then"

But of course the next time he nodded off, I made his bed and made and ate my dinner, expecting him to wake up after 15 mins again, but he has properly gone to sleep in the bouncy chair. Argh.

I blame DH who is in the pub even though he would be useless if he were here anyway

MiniPopsMum2012 · 10/08/2012 22:25

Oh susieloo hopefully you'll get some sleep, MiniPop is the opposite, tried to put him to bed in a babygrow and no blankets as it was so warm (and he did have a slight temp), but he grumbled about being cold so had to wrap him in a blanket (and immediately went back to sleep :o, not for long though :( )

:o at weeing in the hair, the other day MiniPop managed to poo on me and pee on his face at the same time Blush

Tea good luck with getting babyTea to bed, MiniPop screamed the house down after I got him home, think he was over tired after his adventures and too hot, he was a bit of handful, then DP came home took him for some quiet time in the bedroom and put him down, he's still asleep now under a bundle of blankets Confused.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 10/08/2012 23:52

Sorry, Minipop fed a big feed and settled into bed, asleep. I am also in bed now :o let's see how long it lasts.

Wishing you all a good evening, and sleepy babies :)

Susieloo · 11/08/2012 01:18

I do that too tea I think oh he's just snoozing and then he sleeps for three hours, or I'm so relieved he's asleep and I can have some time to myself I don't want to go to bed!!

Hope minipop has had a lovely sleep, over tiredness is a nightmare, I'm going to be actively avoiding it from now on. Dp is asleep on the sofa (he's had a few glasses of wine) so I just went to wake him up to which he reassured me he was coming to bed but after 'I'm just filling these bottles for later' I'll leave him where he is I think!!

Here's hoping I'm not going to have another five hour marathon when I try to put him down now.

Saritabean · 11/08/2012 01:58

Hello all!

Not been posting as even too tired last few nights to type on phone... Up every 2.5hrs and busy during days..! As a result of the frequent feeding though, fatty periwinkle's weight has gone up by 7oz this week to break the 7lb barrier with style: 7lb2oz :o

She's even started to get a little bit of flesh on her arms and legs rather than just being a scrawny, long, skinny baby with a big head- yey!!!! :). And she's even been warm enough to wear more summery clothes, so I've been able to start using some of the lovely things she's been given.

Glad all the other babies are ok. I think the heat has a lot to do with some of the unsettledness.

Finally feel like we're turning the corner with weight issues and feeling a lot more settled with the BF. thank you to all you lot too because MN and this thread helps keep me sane overnight!

My friend's little boy is doing ok on SCBU... Early days but so far so good :) that also makes me realise how far we've actually come now and helps me put it all in perspective.

Happy sleep to everyone for now!!! Zzzzzzzzzzz Wink

Excellent news on weight gain sarita :o

Despite big feed, Minipop lwojeu

MiniPopsMum2012 · 11/08/2012 02:33

Stupid phone..

Woke up after three hours... Oh well...

really need those matchsticks Confused

Susieloo · 11/08/2012 04:03

Fantastic news about weight gain sarita and pleased your friends baby is doing okay, I'm sure your a big support and must be able to help her understand what's happening.

Hi maples it's just cooled down enough for me to turn the ceiling fan off and put a blanket on the baby, not that he'll need one this is normally when he likes to wake up!!

I'm struggling too minipop eyes are so heavy and the baby will be unlikely to go back to sleep until about half five.

Really hoping tomorrow is cooler than today, I'm sure there aren't many people that are hoping for that Smile

Saritabean · 11/08/2012 05:44

Oh my goodness.... Was up at 4ish, now again.... 1.5hrs this time I think Confused :(

Heavy duty matchsticks required!!!!]

Susieloo · 11/08/2012 22:36

Hmmmm, think we are getting into a habit with baby susieloo and bed time, he's getting really hot and bothered and angry a good hour and a half before he goes to bed and yesterday I blamed over tiredness but today he has had two really good naps and he's cluster fed all evening so not hungry, should I be trying to introduce a nap routine for him do you think? There is a rough pattern to his naps now but I'm thinking I need to try something new, is it too early at five weeks old?

Hope everyone has had lovely days and has restful nightsSmile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 11/08/2012 22:56

we've had a big day today, so I'm not sure how tonight is going to go. Went to the park for the first time, which MiniPop liked, I think Poonami is on the way, judging by the screaming and squirming fit at tea time bottle, then we gave him his weekly bath - oh my goodness he was so Angry

absolutely screamed the flat down, he couldn't get enough air in to scream any harder, poor little thing :( He slept for four hours on just 70mls through sheer exhaustion from screaming I think.

So we've just done 10pm feed and put him down, fingers crossed we get another good stint from him :o

Wishing eveyrone an uneventful night and long sleeps :)

Saritabean · 11/08/2012 23:27

Hi all,

minipopsmum - periwinkle hated the bath until last few days... We got a tummy tub after a recommendation from a friend... Basically an expensive bucket for them to be bathed in so they feel contained [Hmm]! (I was only allowed to get it due to fact we had some John lewis vouchers!!) That said, she does seem to prefer it, but we have also just managed to start a kind of 'bedtime' routine with feed anywhere between 6-7.30, bath (in said tummy tub) then another token feed and finally a story from DH!! So far she seems to be liking it, which is a massive step forward- think its something to do with her age as she's getting much more alert and playful after a feed, distractable by toys, and more smiley, less crying... :) hope it lasts!! Wink

Will try and post a photo of periwinkle in tummy tub on my profile.

Just had a lovely sleep-feed too, so hopefully we'll get a good few hours now! Ta ta for now!

Babylon1 · 12/08/2012 00:45

Well I haven't been here at this time for a while Hmm

Don't mind though as we are off on holidays just as soon as baby Babylon finishes his feed!!

Big sleeps everyone!! Xx

Saritabean · 12/08/2012 01:03

Happy holidays babylon and family!

Gosh- 2.5 hrs again.... Maybe it's the heat making her wake up early...? Confused

Babylon1 · 12/08/2012 08:37

Grin Grin halfway to Cornwall and sun is shining!! Yippee!!

Baby Babylon has his first night in a campervan tonight! Wonder how that will go??? I'll report later!! Grin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 12/08/2012 09:19

Ahh, wish I was half way to Cornwall. Love that place :) have an amazing holiday BabyLon, and hope babyBabylon copes with the camper van ok.

Minipop did 3 hours sleeps last night again, as well as a god-almighty poonami at 6am, which was still going when I opened nappy - bauk Confused

So I am in need of matchsticks for the less-than-two-hour slots of sleep... Hmm

TeaandHobnobs · 12/08/2012 10:03

Put DS down at 11, woke and fed at 3:45, down at 4:30 and awake at 7:30 for feeding again. Pretty good going in the Tea household!

However he is super grumpy this morning. He seems quite warm to the touch but he doesn't have a temperature. Hopefully he will perk up Smile

TeaandHobnobs · 12/08/2012 10:03

Have a wonderful holiday Babylon! Sounds lovely
