new thread for RTKM

OP posts:
nulnulcat · 02/02/2006 22:51

never thought of that one! perhaps a new thread should be started 101 uses for your nursing bra!! wear it on your back like a ruck sack and carry your shopping home in it!

Spidermama · 02/02/2006 22:59

I agree Mrspoon that baby covers jelly belly but it takes a long top to cater for love-handle over-spill.

Busyalexsmummy · 02/02/2006 22:59

LOL, my thoughts exactly spider!

nulnulcat · 02/02/2006 23:06

in this weather you need your love handles for the extra layer of insulation to keep you warm!

nulnulcat · 02/02/2006 23:11

nanneh a 101 uses for bra has been started!

MrsSpoon · 02/02/2006 23:25

LOL at love handle overspill, I probably had that bit was completely oblivious, if I have another baby I will look out for that one.

MrsSpoon · 02/02/2006 23:32

OK, reading a bit of this just now, the "husband feeding" made me barf, that is just vile IMO. The "granny feeding" I didn't find so odd but I have read about it somewhere before (probably a link on MN).

FrannyandZooey · 03/02/2006 07:56

I didn't watch the programme, but from the comments on here, the 8 year old girl did not say anything that any slightly precocious child showing off for the camera, would not say. 8 year old girls are liable to say bizarre things, and sound very grown up one minute and babyish the next, IME.

harpsichordcarrier · 03/02/2006 08:16

[that's what i said franny. but no-one listens to me mutter mutter,,,,]

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/02/2006 08:24

Ooh did you, oh well done. However you need an "I am familiar with 8 year old girls" certificate to post on this subject.

harpsichordcarrier · 03/02/2006 08:29

Oh ok:
"I personally think the two older girls were just playing up and showing off for the cameras
like children do
IN MY EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE
although the "painting pictures to express their feelings about bf" was a bit vom worthy"

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/02/2006 08:33

That's better.

Did they really paint pictures and that? You've got to admit it's quite sweet, though not something you would want scrutinised on national tv.

A friend has videoed it for me. In fact 2 friends have videoed it for me. Do you think I should watch it?

harpsichordcarrier · 03/02/2006 08:49

yes it was quite sweet but made me shift about a bit in my seat
also saying grace to thank mother earth before eating (their quinoa and lentil casserole presumably)
yes you should watch, it wasn't the freak show I was wary of

OP posts:
nanneh · 03/02/2006 09:12

Ok, new thread:

How many extended bf mothers thank mother earth while eating home-grown organic lentils ?

PLEASE, don't answer that one

nanneh · 03/02/2006 09:16

As a pin-stripe suit wearing ex-City lawyer I am kinda annoyed that whenever they show extended bf mothers they come across as "alternative" and a bit hippy...

Ok I like organic lentils too but I don't live on a farm grow me own lentils and baby lamb

MissChief · 03/02/2006 09:19

the mums featured on the programme are likely to post on here, surely, who are they??

harpsichordcarrier · 03/02/2006 09:19

seriously nanneh? me too. pulses are not a BIG part of my diet mind you...
new programme
"former hot shot lawyer types who can't keep their norks in these days...."
that should pull in the punters
no I agree with you
it just reinforces the stereotypes

OP posts:
nanneh · 03/02/2006 09:29

harpsi - in moments of post-natal madness I fantasized about going to my former law firm and taking my boobs out to feed newborn DS right in front of all my predominantly male clients and bosses and saying: "THIS is what they are for"...

harpsichordcarrier · 03/02/2006 09:33

ok
you and me
on the MN bf calendar (?March)
pinstriped suits
hair in a bun (me in my wig )
big specs on
high heels
feeding a baby each
YES!

OP posts:
nanneh · 03/02/2006 09:43

harpsi - how did you know I look like that

Didn't have hair in a bun but clipped up or tied back, big Gucci glasses and Italian high heels !

March or April is good - it's too cold right now !

I'll have 19 month old DS wearing a bow tie, ok ?

ruty · 03/02/2006 11:12

i was rather jealous of the huge size of all the womens' breasts on the show. Made me feel a bit inadequate actually tho neither dh or ds complain. [hasten to add have not fed dh EVER!]

Cristina7 · 03/02/2006 11:19

Would you call them Milkior and Boobior?

FrannyandZooey · 03/02/2006 11:20

I think all families do things that others would consider odd and cringworthy, behind closed doors. Just most of us don't allow them to be shown and therefore dissected on Ch 4.

Yes, shame about the stereotype, but to be fair it seems to me that only lentil weavers feel strongly enough or comfortable enough about public extended breastfeeding to do it. Hard to shatter the stereotypes if none of you hot shot city girls will get them out, either in the park or for the cameras.

ruty · 03/02/2006 11:34

in Germany i'm told its common practice. But then in Germany its common practice to sunbathe naked in city parks. What is the thing with nakedness in this country? Why are we so hung up?
And Milkior and Boobior? Aren't they characters from Lord of the Rings?
