Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

No, it's notSad. 2 wakenings here- I went in at first one and dh had to take over as ds wouldn't settle. It's me- I'm keeping him awakeSad... Maybe something to think aboutSmile

jan2011 · 21/03/2012 08:36

sorry you both had a rough night :( im making coffees today...extra shots

tickleme63 · 21/03/2012 08:46

Ugh, back in the office today :( I think getting the first day out of the way has helped though, felt very sad but managed not to weep (so far...)! LWL I'm back 3 days a week for the first month, four days for the second, and then full time.

DS has decided that between 5.30 and 6am is his new wake up time. It used to be 7/8. It's funny - I used to be the sort of person to lie in bed till the last possible minute to get ready for work. Now, I'm invariably up more than 2 hours before I have to leave! It's nice though (apart from being completely knackered) as it's time I can spend with bubs before work.

LWL Hugs to you, you must be shattered :(

I keep telling myself that him sleeping through is just around the corner, but he is still feeding at least twice during the night (on a good night - recently it's been 2 hourly again, but he's pretty much getting his entire top row of front teeth at once, poor fella) and I keep seeing stories where people said their babies (1 year plus) only started sleeping through after being weaned from the boob. DS is not taking much in the way of solids yet and shows no sign of dropping any night feeds... Yikes.

I'm not too bad because it's actually a normal night really!

Mampig · 21/03/2012 18:17

Tickle- you might find lo will reverse cycle with you back at workHmm. I did... But once solids were well established he cut back down againSmile

To be honest, I'm not even looking for sleeping through... Would be happy feeding once a night, wouldn't bother me. Just not 3-plus times :)

Mampig No change to his feeding habits yet, know its early days though. He seems to be happily taking EBM from DH during the day,l remains to be seen whether he accepts it at his nursery... Here's hoping...

feeling so tired today. as im sure everyone else is. my dd is increasingly demanding during the day she is grabbing everything in sight and not settling herself for a minute - i know this is all normal but i find it quite stressful. i am coping by making lots of plans for everyday to be out and about and meeting people as i find it too hard in the house.... this is good but it also makes me more tired from running around all day so i feel i can't win. its a lovely stage too as shecan do so much more (all those extra feeds must have stimulated her!) just need some energy from somewhere...
thejoy sorry you still aren't getting much sleep...

buttonmoon78 · 22/03/2012 07:30

Been off for a few days - ultra busy! DS1 is 5 today! Where did that go?!

DS2 is better in his chest though still very snotty. He's also been constipated from the fluid all going to his nose rather than his gut so in bad moods every time he needs to poo, poor love. Thankfully he's been sleeping better since his chest has cleared.

DH been at home as he's got a stinking head cold, including nasty cough and temperature, shiveres etc so he's been dying loudly! Wink

Mampig · 22/03/2012 07:48

Ah, Button, good old man fluSad, hope baby Button gets better soon.

Well, drum roll please ..... Ds only woke once last night!!! And that was at 10 for a cuddle. Then slept till 5 , fed and back to sleep till 7!!! Might have been fluke, but at least I feel great!!! Routine out the window tonight thoSad, as we have school event with ds1, which can't be avoided and whole family must go, but hey, that's life eh???

LittleWaveyLines · 22/03/2012 08:55

Wow! Well done baby Mampig! Grin

We had a small improvement last night as well - DD went to sleep at 8pm, and only woke for a feed at 8.30, 9 then 11 (so I could have had an evening downstairs if I hadn't been so bloody knackered), then the usual 1, 3, 4, 5 up at 6am.

But at least I got to eat dinner downstairs so that is an improvement!

Jan - how old is your DD again? I remember several stages like that, and even now we have to get out to do something mornings, and a walk afternoons otherwise I can't occupy her - it's too knackering!

Tickle - hope the rest of your working week goes well.

jan2011 · 22/03/2012 08:55

happy bday to buttons ds1! hope ds2 and dh is well on the mrnd soon button and u have a nice day today...
Mampig thats great u got better night last might, its brill when u get a sudden good night makes a world of difference, and looks like you will need it for today :)
im taking baby to baby massage class this morning...feel a bit embarrassed as im the only one who is bf during class as baby won't take bottle - others bf too im sure but their babies take from bottle and its just a bit uncomfortable as im not the most confident of people but it is a good class and dd loves it so looking forward to getting out.

QueenKong · 22/03/2012 09:26

Well done Mampiglet, bet you feel like a new woman.

DS and I are still squitty. He pooed 5 times last night. He is remarkably chipper though, I feel like death warned up. DH has taken today off though so I can sleep and generally be ill without having to carry a small person around constantly.

Oh Joyful, those horrible women! Ignore them, they are probably blessed with angel babies and have no idea what it's like to have a high-needer. You are doing everything you can to help your little one sleep; people forget that babies have a mind and will of their own, and nothing you can do will force baby to sleep when he has other ideas! I'm sorry you are suffering with your back :( I don't have a condition, but my back has been terribly painful since having DS (constant carrying of DS and hunching over when breastfeeding, whoops) - but I can't imagine how painful it must be for you. Sending hugs.

And massive congratulations to your DD! That's great :)

I hope you have a better night lady.

Puddle that's awful. What a pair of unsympathetic, thoughtless witches. I have no advice I'm sorry, being a total novice mum, but you have my sympathies plus, I'm pretty hefty if you want me to go sort those cahs out for you.

QueenKong · 23/03/2012 07:38

Shhhhh! DS is still sleeping! It's a miracle.

Mampig · 23/03/2012 07:48

< whispers>As predicted, not so good last night, but keep trying...
Queen- hope it lasts and u get a second sleep!!!
puddle don't let it annoy you- they are not worth your tearsWink and they'll get their comeuppance one way or another

Yay for babyQueen and babyPuddle!

Another rough night here. As well as waking hourly or 2 hourly, she didn't sleep till 9pm and woke at 5am. She also kept waking trying to crawl..... Why isn't she tired? Confused

TitaniaP · 23/03/2012 09:55

Morning all . Did someone mention coffee?

Rough night here too. Another tooth methinks. Also he keeps trying to crawl (whether in bed or cot) and then gets to the top of his cot/bed and bangs his head. This (unsurprisingly) makes him scream. I think I have perforated ear drums. I wouldn't mind but he spends all day crawling.

Last night in the end I curled up with him halfway down the bed so he had a way to go before hitting his head! Am I allowed to tie him to the bed? Wink
I have just managed to go back to bed for an hours nap with him though. So I feel a little more human. Poor DH looked shattered when he left for work this morning.

We're off swimming now. Hope that wears him out so I can have another nap!

I went out for a bike ride last night (first since I was about 2 months pg). DH got home early and we put DS in the trailer contraption. It was lovely to get out but feeling a little um saddle sore this morning (and we only did 4 miles!!).

Oh Joyful that sounds like a horrid night. DS has been awake on and off since about 4ish. And it took us an hour of screaming to get him to sleep last night. He wouldn't feed didn't want to be rocked and just howled whatever. We just passed him back and forth between us until he calmed down.

We have another tooth coming through so I'm hoping that's what's causing the current bout of unsettledness!
