Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

Chocolate is wonderful stuff, although I had to resort to a Baileys last night as well :)

Sympathies to all the other strugglers... Thanks

SpannerPants · 09/03/2012 18:30

DS is currently snoozing away on DP's chest despite it being bedtime in half an hour and he's not been bathed or changed for bed yet, so I forsee a nightmare getting him to sleep again tonight! Mind you he only had a half hour nap this afternoon so he was exhausted.

I know what you mean about the crying tickle - DS cried himself to sleep in the car the other day. I was stuck in roadworks and couldn't pull over or comfort him, other than singing really loudly and pulling faces in the mirror. I felt awful after that :(

Having them crying in your arms is much better for them than CC or CIO so don't worry about that - they know they haven't been abandoned.

I feel like I'm surviving on KFC, fishfingers and the very occasional smoothie at the moment - I can't be bothered to eat properly anymore.

LittleWaveyLines · 09/03/2012 19:08

Another one here whose DC cried themselves to sleep in the car this week. Was between motorway junctions.... :(

LittleWaveyLines · 09/03/2012 19:19

Wish me luck - I'm going to attempt to sneak downstairs to eat dinner... normally don't make it and have to eat off my lap!

QueenKong · 09/03/2012 19:55

Howdy partners. Sympathies to all with grizzly little buggers, and a big fat woo hoo to button - so pleased for you.

Today I had a day off. I know. I went to a spa with my friend for the whole day. I left at 8:30am and got in at 5:30pm. Was worried because DS still refuses a bottle but DH made me go (thinks I've been going a bit mad. Possibly has a point Hmm) I was banking on him being ok all day with just solids because he is a greedy little beast. And he was. Kind of. DH couldn't get him to nap without the power of The Boob so he was massively over tired. But apart from that he was fine.

I had a lovely time - a massage, gossip and 3 glasses of prosecco! Was all upset when I got back and got no smile from DS though. Either he hadn't realised I'd gone, was exhausted or was in a mood with me. Sad

DH looks fucked, bless him. He just looked at me and said "I really don't think I could do that every day." Ha. Haaaaa!

LittleWaveyLines · 09/03/2012 20:01

Haaaa!! We should all do that so they appreciate us!

QueenKong · 09/03/2012 20:04

I wholeheartedly recommend it. It was the first break I've had in 9 months and I feel human again!

LittleWaveyLines · 09/03/2012 20:09

I'll have to wait until she actually swallows food, rather than biting lumps then spitting them out again.... Confused

Glad you feel better for it! :)

tickleme63 · 09/03/2012 20:12

Haaa! Awesome QK Glad you had such a wonderful time! Am jealous and plotting a similar escape! Love your DH's comment.

Good luck LWL :)

Spanner I've been like that for months. We've actually started getting a fruit and vegetable box delivered weekly so we have no excuses not to be eating healthy. Feel like I've been living on takeaways for 7 months...

Someone posted this on FB this morning. Thought I'd share!

DS slept for 6 HOURS SOLID last night! Then had a quick feed and went for another 4.5! although he was up for the day at 6.15

He seems to have separation anxiety though, even if he's just sat a metre away from me he still cries until I pick him up. He is extra cuddly at the moment which is lovely!

SpannerPants · 10/03/2012 18:20

Ps. Spa sounds amazing queenkong!

Thanks for the dr sears link Titania- going to read it now :)

LittleWaveyLines · 10/03/2012 20:15

OMG BabySpanner Well done! Shock

So jealous....

BTW my DD is always like that - have to sit next to the baby gym if she's under it - can't sit on the sofa right by it, and has to be held at all other times...

tickleme63 · 10/03/2012 20:38

Ooo well done BabySpanner :) Keep it up! Love the link Titania thanks for that!

DH and I had a few baby-free hours today - we took DS over to see my mum and left him there while we had a lovely meal and chilled out at home for a bit. Apart from not napping at all while he was there, he did really well! Took 2 bottles from my mum, and was just a happy little boy all day, making everyone laugh and smiling away, despite the lack of sleep. He crashed out as soon as we put him in his car seat on the way home though, poor fella!

I really thought I'd lap up the free time, but I missed him sooo much! It just felt like a part of me was missing all day. Jesus, what am I going to do the week after next when I have to spend whole days without him...

TitaniaP · 10/03/2012 21:37

I have to admit that I posted the link before I'd really read it. Didn't really say anything I hadn't read before, hope someone else finds it more useful.

Well DS is still a grump bag. Went into town with him in the wrap just to see if that would stop the whining. It worked for a bit. He's totally off his food too. However he has gone down in his cot every night this week. It normally only lasts a couple of hours before he wakes, but it's all steps in the right direction.

How long does teething go on for? I want my happy baby boy back!

MissusTulip · 10/03/2012 22:12

Wow Spannerhow fab! Hope BabySpanner keeps it up tonight Wink. DS did 4 hrs straight at the start last nght before the hrly shenannigans started but that uninterrupted sleep made all the difference today (thanks DH)!

Titania are you using anything on poor wee DS's teeth? BabyTulip seems to prefer dentinox teething gel, he actually seems to have a look of 'aaah, better!' which Bonjela and/or Calpol do not produce. Sad Poor babies!

We're going to visit friends tomorrow - friends a handy 2hr drive away. DH and I are preparing ourselves for 2 mahoosive screamathons Confused just hoping the wee man will sleep for at least part of the trip...

tickleme63 · 11/03/2012 18:55

Just a quick update...

DS has finally rolled! From front to back, and then a bit later back to front! Caught the back to front roll on video, so chuffed.

The key/secret = being naked! (him, not me!) Grin

OP posts:
JeewizzJen · 11/03/2012 19:33

Evening all. Well done BabyTickle! I was so excited when DS started to roll (not long ago!). It does make for interesting poo-ey nappy changes though...

Well, DS was definitely not well yesterday - he wasn't interested in food, although drank plenty of milk, and he was just absolutely exhausted. He wouldn't be put down for more than 5 mins at a time and so I carried him round all day - bar about an hour - where he slept on and off the whole time. He was so lethargic, poor little thing. No temperature, thankfully. I was half expecting a rubbish night's sleep, especially after all that sleep during the day, but actually it was one of the best night's he's had in absolutely ages, and he even slept in until 6.30! (usually a 5 o'clocker). He seems a lot better today thankfully, so I hope whatever it was is on it's way out.

I actually went out for dinner with some friends last night leaving DS with DP - given he wasn't well I was a bit worried, but it was all fine. DP had to resettle him a couple of times, but I didn't get back until 10.45, at which point DS was fast asleep. Just goes to show he definitely doesn't need feeding before that point - so we've agreed that DP will do the resettling up until around 10pm (assuming I can combat roll away in the first place). I'm hoping DS will get the message that there's no point in waking before then!! It does also mean I can't go to bed mega early when I'm knackered though All for the greater good I guess!!

Hope you've all had good weekends - I need to go back and catch up with some of the other posts I've missed in the thread over the weekend!

SpannerPants · 11/03/2012 20:10

We had another good night last night - he went for 6hrs then 3hrs then 2hrs. He's napped for 5hrs today as well so he's either ill or growing Confused

I figured out why he's been grumpy as well - one of his top middle teeth is nearly through! I gave him a teething powder and it seemed to settle him well.

LittleWaveyLines · 11/03/2012 20:24

I keep hearing and reading about all these people who have been out for the evening or day... is it normal to have not left DD at all during the evening, and only for an hour with DP during the day?

I even got nervous today when MIL took her out of the room - she's only let her hold her for more than 2 mis without crying for a month - and she visits ever week!

LittleWaveyLines · 11/03/2012 20:25

Shes 8 months...

QueenKong · 11/03/2012 20:55

I haven't left DS at all in the evening. And I left him with DH for the first time on Friday. I haven't left him with anyone else and he is 9mo. So I hope it's normal...

Was feeling down today after a shit couple of nights. Then I read a group email from a friend all about her 3mo who has now dropped her 10pm feed and is sleeping 7-7. I cried. Sad

LittleWaveyLines · 11/03/2012 21:11

I know that feeling.... :( Been seeing pictures on facebook of a friend out on a hen night - she fully breastfeeds her 3 month old and was able to go because the DD sleeps from 7pm and never wakes... Envy

That and other facebook posts about picking babies up from grandparents where they had been for the weekend etc prompted my post...

... or maybe we're both a bit mad?

LittleWaveyLines · 11/03/2012 21:13

My DD is currently asleep on my lap as she wakes and cries each time I've tried to put him beside me on the mattress instead = tried 5 times.... I'm typing at a really odd angle over her - but at least I have iplayer and the Now Show and headphones...

LittleWaveyLines · 11/03/2012 21:13

her not him! Blush
