Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

Poor you MissusT

Very grumpy here. I am cos Bee is not here yet. DS is cos mum's gone so now he has to share my attention with everything else which needs doing.

Am foreseeing an evening filled with wine and chocolate. So much for the diet...

buttonmoon78 · 27/02/2012 17:12

It's here Grin

Tho not good timing - it's the witching hour when all children turn into gremlins unless fed lots Wink

SpannerPants · 27/02/2012 17:24

Truth and MissusT - have a virtual hug, glass of wine and chocolate! Hope things start to get better.

Hope you're enjoying the bee Button - I can recommend the youtube videos on how to assemble/fold/unfold it as I couldn't figure it out from the pictures in the instruction book.

TitaniaP our poo backlog has passed finally, I was expecting an up-the-back explosion but it was contained Grin

DS has only napped for half an hour this afternoon but is currently in the jumperoo wiggling away and grinning at Rastamouse - he looks so cheeky as you can see both of his bottom teeth now! He seems to have stalled a bit developmental-wise but that's fine by me, he's smiling and giggling a lot and enjoys sitting on my knee either being read or sang to which I really enjoy.

buttonmoon78 · 27/02/2012 21:08

Spanner isn't it funny? I had no problem at all with building it! Tho my friend and I had the same buggy a few years ago and she did it finewhereas I couldn't. Horses for courses I guess. DS had a good sit in it before bed and we tried in all through the dining room, hallway and kitchen! Am very much looking forward to the school run tomorrow Grin

TitaniaP · 27/02/2012 22:08

Spanner - we too have cleared the backlog. It was better than I thought it would be. However an unfortunate side effect is is that he now seems to have developed a taste for the commercial fruit purée pouches (the mango one is luverly tho and I have a feeling that it would go very well with some fizz as a nice mango champagne cocktail, but I digress...)

TitaniaP · 27/02/2012 22:09

Button - enjoy the school run!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 28/02/2012 07:05

Morning ladies. Thank you for the jigs. I appear to have come through my black hole & am feeling much better today. Loving the idea of purée belinis!

LO is finally showing some interest in food so I'm feeling a bit more confident that he'll be weaned before I go back to work. I also decided last night that I was only to feed him every three hours (tried before but always folded in the middle of the night) It worked! Down st 6ish, fed at 9, 12, 3, 6 (all 'ish') He woke up three more times but once i managed to rock him back to sleep and the other times... drumroll please... He self settled!! My new agreement with DP is that I won't go to DS straight away so when he woke between 'feed times' so last night I checked time then waited 5 mins. 2/3 times he went back to sleep. Shit! Has DP been right all along? Noooooo!

Enjoy the school run Button! Bloody hell. School run. I can barely manage to drag myself out of bed these days, let alone get 4 kids ready for school. Much kudos to you.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 28/02/2012 07:08

Jigs?! Hugs! Though jigs sound fun.

Also not sure if I've ever used the word 'kudos' before Hmm

Btw, have any of you BFing ladies got your period back yet. Mine just started the other day Sad and I think may be adding to my foul mood. I thought we weren't supposed to get It until LO was about a year old?

Mampig · 28/02/2012 07:43

Yeah- I've mine atmSad. Combination of reduced feeding and not fitting in expressing at work- have needed MUCH chocolate- so depressing!

Button, enjoy school run, and matchsticks to all!!

Mampig · 28/02/2012 07:43

Oh ds 8 mo

SpannerPants · 28/02/2012 09:16

TitaniaP I've had the same thought about that mango puree, it's gorgeous! The strawberry and apple one is good too. Might have to put some cava in the fridge and try it out! Grin

ATruth mine came back 3 weeks after I had the contraceptive implant put in despite DS still feeding at least every 3hrs day and night. It's more heavy spotting than a proper period though which is annoying as it doesn't seem to be stopping! At least I don't have my usual PMT and it's not painful.

Button hope you had fun on the school run! I've got a new buggy coming today, nothing exciting just a maclaren to take on holiday but I'm still a little bit excited, how sad am I!

DS has developed a cough from somewhere so was awake every hour last night and could only be settled by boob. He seems fine today and is currently sat on his playgym talking to the giraffe on the side of it - so cute! I'm looking forward to naptime though.

QueenKong · 28/02/2012 09:29

Still no AF here, and DS is 8.5 mo.

So Sunday night, teething seemed to have abated and cold cleared up. DS woke twice. Last night, up every bloody hour. I don't get it, and I get so disappointed when he has a crap night after a good one.

Other news, DH has been doing his sums and we reckon we can afford for me to stay off work until January, when DS will be 19mo - and work is fine about it. I'm so pleased. As much as I do miss work and want to go back, I can't imagine leaving DS, so at least I don't have to think about it for another year nearly, by which time I'm hoping he will have outgrown his high neediness!

tickleme63 · 28/02/2012 09:36

Truth No period here yet (DS 7 months). I thought it would feel strange not having one for so long, but I think actually it will feel stranger when they start again!

DS was a little joy this morning, munching on melon slices and strawberry for breakfast. He's still not eating, but is definitely starting to make chewing motions, so hopefully soon I can stop binning so much gummed and discarded food!

Went to my photographer friend's yesterday with my stepsister and her little one - had some gorgeous portraits done of my little man in his suit :) Can't wait to get them!

Queen Yay! That's great news, happy for you! I'm so torn about going back to work (next month, eek). I enjoy my job and feel that for my sanity I do need to go back (awesome flexible work pattern helps make it doable) but I am scared as to what a wrench it is going to be :( Luckily I'm part time to start, and DH is having him for the first month so that's something :)

buttonmoon78 · 28/02/2012 10:03

Well - it's only bee one test run - but I love it! DS pushed him to school (which shows how light it is!) and I pushed him home. Coped well with all sorts of surfaced and was so light I felt he was hardly there. He slept in it on the way back too so is obviously quite comfortable in it.

Not too bad a night tho not terrible either.

Re contraceptive, I'm back on the injection but have had constant 'heavy spotting' since November. So a couple of weeks ago I went to see our gp who has referred me for sterilisation (I'm so done after 4!). I've always been a bit apprehensive about the scarring (not that my stomach is a thing of beauty!) but our local hospital are pioneering a new technique where they go up and in rather than from the outside so no scarring at all, not even the small ones I was expecting for keyhole. Am awaiting my appointment so will update when I have news!

Queen I'm so pleased for you - being at home with them is hard work, undoubtedly, but enormously rewarding.

buttonmoon78 · 28/02/2012 10:03

Well - it's only been one test run what a slip!

LittleWaveyLines · 28/02/2012 18:42

No period here either (8 months).... and DD has some virus so really crappy night's sleep - snotty and medium temperature :(

JeewizzJen · 28/02/2012 19:07

No to period here too (8 months).

Glad your Bee is working out so well button!

Inspired by the talk on here I decided to try DS in the pushchair part of the travel system again today, first time in a long time. This was the first time facing forward though, and amazingly he suffered a good 45 mins of wandering the shops with no whingeing! I on the other hand grumbled my way round as I kept crashing into things with it!! Wink It's good to know I might have an alternative but I think I prefer my slings. :)

I'm praying for a better night tonight, neeeeed sleeeeep!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 28/02/2012 19:18

Well now I'm jealous of all of you who don't have to deal with a period as well as everything else. [grump] I have endometriosis and it's been lovely being pain free throughout the pregnancy and last few months.

Hope you all get good nights. We went swimming this afternoon so I'm hoping that may help him sleep (it doesn't usuaully though, so [jealous] of the mums I swim with whose babies always sleep for hours after a lesson)

Mampig · 28/02/2012 20:35

Angry- I'm miffed at af coming too ffs!!
Also Angry at out of hours gp- goes like this- after approx 3 weeks of sickness, I couldn't get my 2 younger dcs a gp appointment for this week. I work full time and so does dh. Phoned OOH to try to get them seen. But nooo. They are not acutely unwell enough. Ok, but I pay my taxes, can't get them seen during the day, and working makes this a lot more difficult. So I'll have to book them in for some time next week... Makes sense with 2 sick babies who are spiking 40 degree temperaturesSadAngry

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 28/02/2012 20:43

Oh no Mampig - hugs for you and cold compresses for your LOs.

Our A&E unit employs a GP so if you just turn up you get seen.

Disclaimer: I know this because it was in the local paper, not because I would (mis)use A&E in this way, but if you're worried about your babies then it might be worth a try.

LittleWaveyLines · 28/02/2012 21:20

Hugs for Mampig.

Can I have some reassurance from the more experienced mothers? DD's temp is now 38.5 with no other symptoms other than a slighty blotchy face with a few spots.- she's asleep on me. How worried should I be?

buttonmoon78 · 28/02/2012 21:31

Slightly I'd say. Monitor. Offer plenty of feeds. If you really are worried then ring NHS direct or your OOH service - our are very good and helpful.

Has she had any exposure to any infectious diseases that you know of - chickenpox or anything?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 28/02/2012 21:53

I'm clearly not an experienced mum, but when DS had a high temp a few weeks ago I called nhs direct & found them really useful. Might be worth giving them a call to reassure yourself Smile

LittleWaveyLines · 28/02/2012 22:17

She's now got the squits, and one of her little friends had this bug a week and a bit ago.... and it lasted a week with them (they all got it!)

Thanks ladies, I'll monitor and phone NHS direct if I get worried. Have given her calpol and she's sleeping better.
