Does this sound like your baby?

  1. Feeds frequently daytime
  2. Feeds frequently nighttime
  3. Needs to be constantly held
  4. Wont sleep alone
  5. Hates the car seat/pram
  6. Short naps

If so - join the club! :)

"modern man"? Well, using slings is the reason we're the highest order mammal Grin.

There was a blog post about it recently - I'll look it up when I can but eithwer way Wikipedia says so, so it must be troo Grin en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_sling#Human_evolution

Poor DS is getting more teeth. He was very quiet today with a runny bum and a few little funny noises. Lots of teeth sucking sounds (I think he's cooling his gums) and a few little whine-like noises from time to time. Lots of finger chewing. Mostly sleeping and cuddling though. So much different to a year ago - I can't believe how far we've come.

We went for a walk to the post box today. He was very cute, walking along holding my finger (hand is too big!) and looking at the Christmas lights. He loved it. Just seeing how he embraces every new thing he comes across, loving every new moment makes those tough early months so worthwhile :)

tickleme63frenchhens · 20/12/2011 03:58

Sorry for quick post, just had to share...

DS is SLEEPING

Went to bed at 7.30pm after a day of bad naps, woke briefly for his dummy and then slept until 12.50am! Just given him his second feed now... And my body clock is completely screwed, neither me or DH can sleep!!! How bloody typical is that!

Night gals. Hope you're having good nights too.

organiccarrotcake · 20/12/2011 07:12

I'm with you, tickle.

Mine went to bed at 7 [smug emoticon] then woke at 11 and was awake until 3.30. Then awake again at 6.30. Then DS1 came in and announced he felt sick. Brilliant.

Seems to be teething as his usual teething MO is to not sleep at nights and just want to poke and prod me and pull my hair Hmm.

organiccarrotcake · 20/12/2011 07:24

Great. DS1, "Mummy, I went to the toilet this morning but then my bottom filled up with water and it's gone in my pants". Deep joy.

Wondering now whether DS2 isn't actually teething and there's a bug around. Which is great when you're pregnant.

sigh

organiccarrotcake · 20/12/2011 08:08

Yes, poor little mite definately has D&V (DS1, that is). He's being very stoic, bless him. I see towels and washing in my future!!! Hopefully DS2 will not follow...

Queenkongmerrilyonhigh · 20/12/2011 08:22

Argh, you have my sympathies OCC. Loving your DS1's description of the runs though. So cute. Or not, probably!

Hope it clears up before the big day on Sunday!

tickleme63frenchhens · 20/12/2011 08:57

Oh OCC :( Your poor little mister! I hope he feels better soon. D&V bugs are horrible.

tickleme63frenchhens · 20/12/2011 09:12

Last night was a really good night for DS's sleep - he only had 2 feeds between 7.30pm and 6am, unheard of!

It's bound to be a fluke... But if it wasn't, please god allow me to actually sleep too!

Had a serious boulder boob on one side at 3.45am... Almost forgotton what that feels like with DS's frequent feeds! Quite possibly the only downside of baby sleeping longer.

organiccarrotcake · 20/12/2011 09:12

I'm sure it will. These things pass quickly in children. I was very sympathetic until somehow the instruction to "leave your pants on the bathroom floor so I can clean them up" somehow morphed into "put your pants into the washing basket and cover the inside of the basket with poo". Oh well. I've dug out a panty liner (after the second pair of pants) and tried to persuade him that it's not a nappy! He's 7... nappies somewhat beyond him... but fortunately he's not too embarassed by the accidents he's had. Poor sweetie :(

Mampig · 20/12/2011 16:35

I'm right there too!! Day from hell:
Slept in cos of poor sleep as baby awake most of night.
Kids to school
Alarm on phone reminds me of hospital appointment at 10 am!!! Had to go without a shower and greasy hair. Bumped into work colleagues (typical- I really was a mess, after poor sleep last night too). They insisted I join them for tea breakBlush. Home, jumped in shower, phone rings- ds1 crying in school with sore tummy. Had to go and get him ( wet hair and all). He too has "really watery poo, and some of it touched my boxers". Bless. Home to clean him up, feed baby, dry my hair, and actually see to the house. Am exhausted... Doc thinks baby is hungry at night cos he's quite big so gave me go ahead to fire on in weaning himGrin. Had been going very slowly etc, but all systems go now. Hope you're all ok- OCC, bug is going around but no V as yet... Hope you all get some zzzz tonight!

SpannerPants · 20/12/2011 17:05

Oh no Mampig and OCC - hope your DS's recover soon and noone else gets it!

I feel like I'm stuck in groundhog day :( although for some variety some stupid bitch made me cry in Next today.

Can't wait for DP to get home so I can do stuff without a grizzly baby attached to me.

tickleme63frenchhens · 20/12/2011 17:26

Spanner :(

tickleme63frenchhens · 20/12/2011 17:28

Oh poo... Ballsed up the crossy-outy thingy...

JeewizzJen · 20/12/2011 18:30

Ach, hugs to all who need them - sounds like most of us!

Good night until 3am, in fact it started with a 4 hour stretch which was awesome. After that, it was cack until 5am when we got up. Not too bad a day, as DP was home to help, but I'm now nervous DS might have chicken pox as his cousins have it and they've been spending time together recently. DS has two suspicious spots on his face, but we'll see what, if anything, they turn into tomorrow. If he gets it I'm going to have trouble this week as I have a billion things to do to get ready for our xmas dinner on xmas eve. My SIL was going to be helping me, but she can't now with her boy being utterly covered in spots, not to mention it's just shit she won't be able to come as she's a very close friend. I guess if DS does have it at least she'll be able to come anyway!

To top it off I think I might have cystitis. I have a knawing pain in my kidney which is typically how it presents in me, I seem to get really late symptoms which have on more than one occasion ended up in a kidney infection and me being extremely ill. Fabulous! I'm trying to drink gallons to combat it.

Argh, better go.... DS wailing...

Hope everyone has a good night tonight.

SpannerPants · 20/12/2011 18:36

gin would be lovely! Unfortunately we're out until the Ocado man comes tomorrow

The woman in Next was coming the other way down an aisle and I hadn't even noticed her until she said "oh, you've got exactly the same pushchair as me" (baby jogger city mini with the same john lewis fleece cosytoes - red with white stars). I smiled and said "we both must have excellent taste", to which she did a cats bum face, looked me up and down and said "no, we just have the same pushchair" leaving me looking like this Shock

luckily DS chose that moment to puke all over his top so noone could see me crying as I was cleaning him up Blush

Mampig · 20/12/2011 18:50

Oh Spanner!!! That's just awful!Sad how very dare she!!! Biatch!!!! I'd be raging. Try not to let it upset you, after all, I bet your baby is more beautiful than any she will ever haveGrin. Chin up, gin out, and let her go eff herself- think Karma, daaling!

Queenkongmerrilyonhigh · 20/12/2011 19:08

In the words of Beyonce what goes around, comes back around ma beybeeey. Ignore, ignore, she's a dick.

Had a lovely day, my friend invited me for lunch and had made dessert and everything. She spent ages cooing over DS who, quite frankly wasn't looking his best as was munching on beetroot. Vampire baby.

JeewizzJen · 20/12/2011 19:17

Oh my, what a complete bitch!! The sheer rudeness of some people is unreal!! Definitely ignore, ignore, ignore!

tickleme63frenchhens · 20/12/2011 19:43

What a cow! People really suck sometimes don't they :( Mean old witch. Don't pay her no mind Span. Stupid woman. Grr! Rudeness really ticks me right off!

SpannerPants · 20/12/2011 19:59

I know, part of the reason I was crying was because I was annoyed with myself for letting her get to me! I hadn't even noticed her until she started talking to me. Oh well. I went to M&S and bought a bucket of really good chocolate covered biscuits which are making me feel better Grin

I called my mum who said I should have told her to fuck off. I've never heard my mum say fuck before!!

Hope you all have a good night ladies

organiccarrotcake · 20/12/2011 20:05

spannerpants what an utter cow! I am totally shocked that someone would be so absolutely rude! I would have been really upset by that.

Well DS1 is ok this evening having spent all day watching Harry Potter... DS2 has eaten virtually nothing other than trying to BF all day which is awful coz there's so little milk for him :( Still, it obviously made him feel better. He's had some runny nappies but no throwing up so I'm hoping that's all he'll come up with.

Cancelling tomorrow's day out with nephew and niece for obvious germ-related reasons. Not fun being unclean at this time of year :(

ATruthFestivelyAcknowledged · 20/12/2011 20:26

I'm sorry Spanner, but that did make me laugh. What a complete cow!

Organic - "Just seeing how he embraces every new thing he comes across, loving every new moment makes those tough early months so worthwhile" You've just put into words what I keep thinking about DS. He's got another tooth this morning so has been edgy all week. Every now and again we get a glimpse of the cheeky chappy he usually is and it just reminds me how amazing he is and puts all the late nights and early mornings into perspective.

Mampig · 21/12/2011 12:57

Hi everyone!! Hope u all got some sleep last night!
OCC, hope the little man a bit better- my ds seems to be over the worst but dh complaining of tummy cramps now . had to cancel some family visits tooSad.

Another blocked duct for me, so spent last night, when I should've been sleeping, trying to unblockSad. It's a bit better, but I can still feel it niggling, so trying to be careful with feeds etc. Ds had some good sleep last night but fed at 3,- was glad as he helped a bit with blockage. Madness!!!
Hope everyone getting in festive mood, ho ho ho!GrinGrin

SpannerPants · 21/12/2011 13:13

We had a better night here, fed every 2hrs instead of every 1.5 Grin amazing how that half an hour makes all the difference!

I'm feeling like a bad mummy today though as I've just dropped DS (well I was sitting on the floor with him on my knee so more let go and he slid down 10cm and landed on his face) because I was straining my christmas pudding vodka with my other hand. He's absolutely fine but I feel really guilty.

Mampig · 21/12/2011 15:06

Being a mum= lifelong guilt!' he's fine- don't worry!!
