Does this sound like your baby?

  1. Feeds frequently daytime
  2. Feeds frequently nighttime
  3. Needs to be constantly held
  4. Wont sleep alone
  5. Hates the car seat/pram
  6. Short naps

If so - join the club! :)

Thanks! Dh will Grin with me combing boob, or feeding on all fours come to think!!! The things we have to do!!!

Mampig · 30/11/2011 15:45

Frak- do I comb till it clears, or for how long? Ds won't feed long enuf from that side to help matters much.

fraktious · 30/11/2011 16:38

I was there for 20 mins, shower directed at boob, milk fountaining out from all over the place combing round and round once. You'll feel the lump get smaller as it breaks down. That was the worst one. Usually it's a couple of minutes shower/comb and then a long feed does the rest.

If he won't feed for long then comb til you feel it's cleared and then feed with his chin pointed towards the blocked duct to make doubly sure it's all drained.

Evening all,

Not a bad day here, aside from the usual tiredness. Took DS for his first walk outside in the mei tai, which was cool but he decided it was far too exciting to drop off and spent the walk staring at parked cars and people! He then required a bit of rocking and jiggling to drop off at home. Babies! :)

Not looking forward to tomorrow's GP appointment. Haven't had a teary day this week so far, and am beginning to think I'm overreacting by going to the dr. Gah! Ah well, got to take bubs there anyway so I suppose it can't hurt to mention how I've been feeling at times...

Hugs/optional punches to arms to you all for the night ahead!

buttonmoon78 · 30/11/2011 17:27

Thank you Mampig. And I was going to say feed with his chin pointing towards the blockage. Thankfully for me that meant rugby ball position rather than a total inversion or anything silly!

Am feeling a little more positive - I've started taking the left overs of my preg vitamins to try and make sure that I'm not lacking anything but I might go and see if I can pick up something specifically for nails and hair. My nails are in pretty shocking condition too.

Well, ds has already begun the wailing for this evening. Is it any wonder I'm losing my marbles hair?!

Thanks for all the punches guys though perhaps you could all ease up now, I'm getting bruises!

LittleWaveyLines · 30/11/2011 17:31

No you are not overreacting. Go, explain!

Mampig - hope you clear the blockage and Button I hope you manage to sort things out too. I'm struggling with one babe. How you both cope with more than one (do you both have 4?) I don't know.

Tickleme so glad to hear you're feeling more yourself.

Well we got home ok with only some low level whinging. His cough is bothering him though and his nose is streaming ( I have a snot covered boob - joy!)

Not looking forward tonight at all as he keeps waking himself up from his naps coughing. Although cant wait to get back in my own bed.

As I've been away I've managed to convince DH we should have takeaway for dinner so at least I don't have to worry about that.

Hope the evening isn't too bad for you all - wishing you lots of sleep!

tickleme63 · 30/11/2011 19:24

Hold the front page...

DS just calmly took a couple of ounces of expressed milk from a bottle. While I was in the house. In the same room. Watching.

It could be a fluke, a one off. But by god does it give me hope of a teensy bit of freedom :)

Although knowing me I'll use that freedom to mow the bloody lawn or something...

TitaniaP · 30/11/2011 19:48

Fab news tickle!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 30/11/2011 20:21

Way to go Tickle! How? HOW?

JeewizzJen · 30/11/2011 20:32

That's fantastic tickle! And yes, how!?

I managed to use my baby monitor for the first time ever and went downstairs to be with DP during the evening for the first time in 5 months. It only lasted half an hour before DS woke, but it's something!

JeewizzJen · 30/11/2011 20:34

Oh Titania, I meant to say, my R&R arrived yesterday. I love it! So comfy and quick to put on! DS seems comfy in it too. Grin

tickleme63 · 30/11/2011 20:45

Yay Jee! Here's hoping he'll be able to go longer and longer so you can have your evenings back :)

I have no idea how, or whether it will happen again tomorrow. DH was playing 'rocket ship' with the bottle (a MAM one, same as the dummy teat he decided to like) and all of a sudden DS was drinking Shock

Mampig · 30/11/2011 20:53

Yay Tickle!!

Finally got blockage removed, took a while and really thought it wasn't going, pain became really bad and ds not fussed on feeding either. But I got him to latch long enuf for letdown and then pumped it away. The relief is unreal- after 5 mths that's my first ever blockage!
Thanks for the tips ladies!
I too would be lost without mn Grin

Getting my roots hair done tomorrow- can't wait!!! Still aiming to go to my Christmas do on Friday- what about you LWL??

Mampig · 30/11/2011 21:14

Jee- my ds is so changeable atm. Goes down one night, not the next...Angry. My advice is to keep trying tho- having said that, tonight mine is sleeping on sofa beside me, as I kept him up to help unblock my ductGrin. Some day it might click!!!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 30/11/2011 21:36

DS went to sleep with only 15 mins screaming tonight. Whoooooop! I did have to leave the hairdryer on for half an hour to keep him calm enough to feed, but, hey, if it works...

Tomorrow's project? The bottle.

TitaniaP · 30/11/2011 21:37

Jen - also love the R&R. It's really quick isn't it? I do prefer my woven for comfort though if I'm going to be wearing for a while.

DS is asleep in his cot - but for how long?? He's so sniffly - we've squirted saline up his nose, put him in the bathroom with the shower in for some steam, propped him up slightly and I've got some Karvol on a tissue in our room. Hoping all that helps him sleep.

Right I'm off to get some sleep (9.30 - wow).

stopgap · 01/12/2011 03:18

How about hats? Does anyone else's baby protest? We can just about sneak a hat onto DS once we're out and aboutand only when he's in the Bjorn, not the prambut he screams blue murder otherwise. Also, coats. He's really not a fan.

Today we went to "Mummy and Me" yoga. When DS woke in his pram, he joined me for a few poses, but got annoyed the second the poses didn't involve him pretend walking on the floor. So the instructor kindly offered to hold him. After five minutes, she swiftly changed her mind :D, handed a screaming DS over, at which point I headed to the back of the room and engaged in my frenetic "rain dance" to get him back to sleep (after a failed five minutes, I ended up going into the empty yoga studio next door, as the screaming was too much, even for a group of sympathetic mums).

stopgap · 01/12/2011 03:24

PS Any other high need babes HATE inward-facing carriers? He loves to be held and cuddled, but can't abide carriers. We've persisted with a Moby, an Ergo and a Boba since week three. After much back-arching and cat-being-skinned wailing on DS's behalf, we caved and bought a Bjorn, which fourteen-week-old DS loves, but I know it isn't brilliant ergonomically. Dare I persist some more with the (infinitely more comfortable) inward-facing Boba/Ergo?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 01/12/2011 04:32

Yup to hating coats StopGap. Hats he's none too fussed by, but coats (in fact, clothes in general!) get whinged about.

So, what do the rest of you do when baby is Wide Awake at 3.30am? I've just conceded defeat, bought him downstairs and put the kettle on...

JeewizzJen · 01/12/2011 04:47

I'll join you in that Truth. Wide a-frickin-wake after waking every 90 mins all night. FFS.

TitaniaP · 01/12/2011 06:45

Ouch - hope you both manage to get more sleep at some point today.

Not too bad here. Finally settled at 9 awake at 10, 12, 4 and 6. The 12pm waking was met by loads of screaming though and took ages to settle. Poor little man is full of snot.

We were supposed to be going to a post-natal group today. Have a feeling we'll be stuck at home though.

Queenkong · 01/12/2011 08:38

Morning gang

Had a good night, think he must have been knackered after the previous night's horror show. Went down at 6 (I know!) then settled a couple of times. Went to bed at 10, then he woke at midnight but, crucially, he didn't want the boob. Settled him with a cuddle. This has never happened before! He then woke at 3 for a long feed, but fair enough really - I was hungry by then too! Then up at 6:30. Wow. Still feel knackered though - guess I need more than one decent night in a row.

Jen - I do the same thing with DS (settle then sneak off). We have good days and bad, sometimes he will go off quickly and I can have virtually a whole evening. Sometimes I have to keep settling him. But what I've found is that even on a bad night, at some point after about 8pm (even if I've had to settle him 4-5 times) he goes off into a deep sleep and I can get away with a 1.5-2hrs downstairs. So worth persevering. Some nights I can't be arsed though and just stay in bed with him!

Mampig · 01/12/2011 09:06

Wow Queen! A few nights like that would be a result!!
Well the cold didn't bother him too much last night. But he has a very chesty cough, no temp tho so don't think there is much point in going to doc just yet. Feel so sorry for him thoSad

Mampig · 01/12/2011 09:21

Ahh, just finished my red bull, ta Queen!!
