Anyone else think this is a bit odd? Especially as it's promoting the brand name of a well known nipple cream too...

I think restricting advertising of a product that is vital to some is a bad idea. This advert is not going to stop people from bf

having BF all 4 kids, I found the well known brand AND a breast pump (manual and electric) completely essential to helping me keep BFeeding when my nipples were cracked and bleeding in the first few weeks and during growth spurts. Obviously every nipple is different (!) but for me even the most perfect latch in the world does not protect my nipples from cracking in the early days - not suprising given how long the baby feeds. After four newborns I just accept that is how my nipples are made. Using these products got me through, enabled my nipples to toughen up and gave us years of happy BFeeding!

But that's where education and choice comes in. Op said it is viral for some and useful for others.

The fact is that bf education is pathetic and that's where the focus should be. I just dint think it's worth getting your knickers in a twist about it. Whereas making women stop and think about why they should bf instead of shoving highly processed milk from another animal into their kids is something to take to the soapbox for.

" Just a thought. If I'd bought myself a shiny £100 plus breastpump, I reckon I'd be even more committed to continue breastfeeding, not less!"

gaelicsheep i had a lovely electric avent ISIS breast pump with all the bells and whistles. When we decided to move to formula 100% i remember actually being a bit upset that i would have to sell my lovely new gadget.

No I clearly said that where education comes in, but feel free to quote me to make whatever point you like.

Understanding how a pump works, how to get the best results AND the impact it can have on your supply can help woman to give their own milk to their baby for longer. Some don't need them some do and sone just like the flexibilty it gives them.

The most important factor in bf rates us still education IMHO, going right through from children/ sex ed to adults and it's only when this has got engrained that it will make a difference.
