Hi all

I'm being admitted to hospital for a few weeks and was looking for some books to take with me.

Nothing sad. I like stuff like "this is going to hurt" or a guilty pleasure something naughty and dramatic.

Any recommendations please x

Just read Strange Sally Diamond due to the recommendations on here. I LOVED it!

Amazing book. We did this at book club last month and every one of us loved it. It was a light read but very dark too, it really stayed with me.

Agree, is brilliant

Kala is also brilliant. Probably my top read this year

Yes just finished Kala a few weeks ago. Loved it. There are so many good Irish authors around.

I'm currently on page 1017 of Ken Follett's 'The Pillars of the Earth'
I was a bit put off initially by how long it is, but it's very readable and very interesting. I'm flying through it.

I've just read the whole Kingsbridge series! They cover over 1,000 years, but have consistent threads running through them.

They are really excellent. I galloped through them and will probably read them again before too long.

If you like Gone Girl or Gitl on a train then anything by Gillian McAllister, Kathryn Croft or Jo Spain

I love Jo Spain but cannot get into Gillian McAllister at all I have 3 or 4 of her books. Going to try again as really want to like her books. Never tried Kathryn croft but I might as I need new authors

Love this book, his whole series is amazing. He also wrote a trilogy about the 20th century. That's amazing as well.

I just read Strange Pictures by Uketsu in one day, it was that good. I thought it was a short story collection, but it's an innovative and unique mystery. Best book I've read in ages.
