How terrifying for her family. I hope she's found safe and sound.

Maggiethecat · 30/03/2022 13:56

She's been found. Hope she and her family are ok.

Lndnmummy · 30/03/2022 15:55

Such a relief she has been found safe and well. I posted the same on AIBU and its been deleted. Apparently its been "derailed". Did any of you happen to catch why?

OP posts:
emuloc · 30/03/2022 16:35

Lndnmummy I saw your other thread much earlier. I do not know why it derailed, the comments were fine when I was reading them. It maybe worth asking MNHQ why it was deleted.

Lndnmummy · 30/03/2022 16:52

Will do, thanks @emuloc. I posted it and then felm asleep with the little one. Checked quickly this morning and all seemed ok, then just deleted. I'll reach out to
@MNHQ

Posting as an ally. A small number of posters began squabbling about grammar, @Lndnmummy and continued, despite being advised by others that it was inappropriate on a thread about a missing child, (though by then she had thankfully been found).

I commented and posted this article on your thread but don't know if you saw it as the thread was deleted soon afterwards. I'll post it again here:

A petition seeking justice for Noah Donohoe, one of the children mentioned in the article is here, if anyone would be kind enough to sign and share. Thankyou:

Thank you @TheRealMrsMac for posting,
I had not seen your article. My youngest has covid (again!) so the day ran away with me.
I recognise you from other threads as a fellow ally, thank youFlowers

No problem @Lndnmummy and I hope your DC is better soon. Brew

kinshasa · 30/03/2022 22:52

So glad she is safe!

Thank-you for the info @TheRealMrsMac. Unbelievable that people derailed a thread like that.

Have signed and shared justice for Noah x

TheRealMrsMac · 31/03/2022 16:32

Much appreciated @kinshasa - thank you.

ENoeuf · 31/03/2022 16:52

Oh gosh I posted and that it went and I couldn’t imagine why because it was all quite civilised at the time. So glad she has been found safe.

MarineBlue33 · 01/04/2022 23:21

@TheRealMrsMac That is a vital petition. Thank you for sharing
Signed

TheRealMrsMac · 02/04/2022 01:08

Thank you @MarineBlue33

Here's Noah.

Skiptheheartsandflowers · 02/04/2022 01:20

I signed the other day but will share it again tomorrow. Noah is such a lovely boy in those photos.

Why pick on grammar on a missing child thread? Honestly Hmm

MarineBlue33 · 02/04/2022 08:52

@TheRealMrsMac Have you shared it on any of the other MN boards so it reaches a wider demographic?

Hi, I'm popping on here (I'm white) to confirm what @TheRealMrsMac said. It was dreadful behaviour from two posters in particular. I was one of the posters who told them to stop, on a thread about a missing children/children of all things. They didn't stop, although one did indicate just before MNHQ zapped the thread that she realised she'd overstepped. My last post on the thread was, "Fgs pack it in the pair of you".

[To confirm, MNHQ zapped it after it was confirmed that Caprice-Maitai had been found safe.]

It was very illustrative of a nasty underbelly of MN, where there are no boundaries and people's real lives seem to be superfluous or incidental to the posters' desire to 'be right' in an MN argument. It's becoming more frequent on previously helpful boards like 'Menopause' too.

Regarding Noah - I've signed the petition online, and first read about it on MN not in the mainstream media, interestingly.

Thank you @SpinningTheSeedsOfLove , @MarineBlue33 and @Skiptheheartsandflowers

Yes, there are four threads. I started my thread in AIBU for traffic, but disappointingly MNHQ moved it to the Petitions and Activism topic, (where it is much, much harder to get it into Active to keep it being seen), and would not move it back. As a result, another poster started a new less-petition-focussed thread in AIBU and, with some work, we've managed to keep it there. I will link them all here:

Thank you.

@SpinningTheSeedsOfLove Thanks for that. Sad to say, but I'm unsurprised about the derailment. I'm sure the grammar police knew full well that they were derailing a thread about a missing black child.

Thankfully, Caprice was found safely.

The fear that rises up when you read about a missing child, even when you don't know that child personally, is a dreadful fear.

Which brings me to Noah. I do wonder if Noah's skin colour was one of the factors in his disappearance and death?

I'll start a thread on BMN. I hope that's ok @TheRealMrsMac? He and his Mum, family and friends, deserve their own space.

Thankfully Caprice is safe. Shame on those people who derailed the thread of a missing black child. The deliberate cold heartedness required to do something like that, is beyond description really.

blackandgreen · 02/04/2022 12:01

Ah cross posted. I see you've already posted the links here.

I agree with everything you have posted above, @blackandgreen and in fact I had been thinking about PM'ing you to ask if you thought a BM thread devoted to Noah would be appropriate and, if so, whether you would kindly consider starting one - so that would be perfect, thank you very much. [flower]
