Morning all. I hope you got a better night's sleep Floozie. Of course I can offer no advice, but my thoughts are with you. x x

Tyson You've got the fear! I think being at home for you will be very relaxing. Just think that you can see how you go and go into hospital if you feel the need x x

moonstorm · 22/08/2010 11:07

Hello everyone!

I'm back off holiday now and feeling really big!

There's so much to catch up on, so sorry that I can't comment on it all!

Shieldbug hope the cysts are ok x
Hermya I'm afraid I'm just doing the old white outfits for when the baby is born. Those outfits you are looking at are lovely, though.
ILGH my heart stopped when I read the post about your nephew - I thought it was about your baby at first!! Congratulations.
Jessiebelle welcome to the thread. I have a Norwegian dh and so does Seashellsontheseashore. Which part of Norway to you come from, dh is from Bergen. Are you going to bring up you children bilingually? We are - ds is getting really good at both languages now.

Is anyone else hobbling round like a pensioner in the mornings? When I get to sleep, I sleep wll, but wake up in agony and really, really stiff.

I can't decide when to finish work, I was going to work until 37 weeks, even though ds came at 35, but now I am getting cold feet... I am wondering whether to stop earlier, but this dc will probably arrive at 42 weeks then! Money is an issue, though if I want a year's maternity leave.

I've got my hospital bag packed and ready to go apart from dressing gown, now just need to buy the car seat and Isofix base, wash the baby clothes, sort out the old bedding abd wash it and set up the crib! Phew!!

Smile
nymphadora · 22/08/2010 11:17

I'm at Warwick castle sitting on floor cos I can't walk any further & no one will give me a bench. Dh & dd2 in princess tower. Dd1 gone for a drink. Dh v keen to come here but he is now referring to it as Disney which isn't a compliment!

Been barged so many times now! I'm huge how do people justify not seeing me? Not had a single apology apart from one couple on the second barge when I challenged them.

Hermya321 · 22/08/2010 13:30

Nymph My word, how rude are some people!! Maybe you should challange a few more people, it might get them to think a little bit more.

Oh the shame I've just blubbed my way through the begining of Star Trek where Jim Kirks Dad dies to save his son.

nymphadora · 22/08/2010 13:42

We watched that last week & we both cried Blush

OP posts:
moonstorm · 22/08/2010 13:44

Hermya are you a fan, or is it just the pregnancy? I have to admit doing the same when I watched it a few weeks ago (but then I'm a fan...)

Nymphadora I can't believe how rude some people are - somethimes I think people's behaviour is worse around pregnant women...

I am currently having a break in the middle of clearing out the kitchen cupboards. The rest of the house is on my hit list. I'm not nesting, honest...

Hermya321 · 22/08/2010 14:20

Moonstorm I am actually, my family have been watching it for years and it's sort of stayed with me.

Vikks · 22/08/2010 15:40

Nymph Get mean, sort those rude people out!

Moonstorm Welcome back. You sound very organised, my next job is hospital bag.

I've got my appointment at the hospital in the morning, so will hopefully find out why I'm measuring 4 weeks ahead. I've been joking all along that Harry will be a bruiser, I guess we'll find out soon enough! Could it be fluid? Anyway we get to have another scan so I'm excited about that (scan no. 8). Smile x

Tyson86 · 22/08/2010 17:13

Nymph people are s rude! I went through that in skeggy but just aimed my buggy at them Blush

Vikks Good luck with your appointment tomorrow, must admit im abit jealous of your scan, its been nearly 13 weeks since my 20 week scan :)

I am starting to think i must be stupid, i have just got back from a 4 hour walk in the sun, i went with my mum and ds and it wasnt exactly a gentle stroll! Yesterday i took ds out for 2 hour walk and ended up carrying him the 1 hour way home. I havent stopped walking since tuesday. I wish i could go bed but got to do dinner and keep putting on a brave face to my mum as im refusing to let her know that im exhausted Grin

Vikks · 22/08/2010 17:43

Tyson Slow down! I'm getting tired reading your post. Grin You're not super woman and you shouldn't be exhausting yourself. If your mum wants to help let her. Can you have a lie down and get a take-away? Wink x

jennimoo · 22/08/2010 17:47

I'm sooo tired but going to try a quick post. I have been keeping up now though, just too tired usually to post!

I am not sleeping great, my hips ache so much. I know I'm now supposed to avoid slouching on sofa so baby is the right way, but that's the only way the pressure is off my hips, so just trying to keep moving around as best I can.

moonstorm it's not just the mornings I feel stiff: half an hour on a hard chair and I'm hobbling around!

Our new kitchen was being fitted last week, but they still haven't finished so haven't been able to move the stuff back in, so a few more days of food done in the microwave.

floozietoozie · 22/08/2010 19:55

Nymph question for you. Did you get the Mountain Buggyin the end? I think you were considering it. If so, did you buy it from a chain? I'm trying to find somewhere round here that stocks the double but drawing a blank.

Hi meansbeans. You're technically the first on the list for labour - how many weeks are you now?

Nesting Moonstorm? Surely not Wink. I have plans for the days ds is in crèche and nursery once I finish work next week and they involve wallpaper stripping and paint....

Tyson - stop!!!! I've been out with my folks this afternoon for a stroll up the prom where my mum lives and after a run in with ds and then walking around with him and walking home, I'm knackered too. My 72-year-old mother was pushing the pram with ds (3 stone) in and his walker hooked over it on the way back and she was still going faster up a hill than I was! Just got to get fed, brush ds teeth and put him in pjs then drive home and hope he falls asleep and can be put straight into bed. Fx.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 22/08/2010 20:13

Hello everyone

Sorry I have been awol for so long - I have been so busy that apart from a couple of random posts I have had to go cold turkey on my MN addiction Grin

In no particular order...

jessebelle welcome! I hope you have settled down comfortably on the 10/10 sofa and your 3rd trimester is going well :)

moonstorm - my dh is from Bergen too! We are bringing dc up bilingually - its hard work but ds has just had a break through this month so despite it delaying language onset we can start to see the benefits!

nymph vikks and anyone else who has finished - I bet it feels great! My last day is wednesday and I can not wait - ds will continue at Nursery and I will have a chance to get all the jobs done I have been unable to for weeks now.

Hang on, did I just read jessiebelle also has a norway connection? Velkommen!!!

Ummm, ilgh I hope cornwall is kind to you - its wet and windy in dorset this weekend! I was on the south coast 2 weeks ago and it was grey but as beautiful as always :)

Shieldbug I'm sorry to hear you have been having problems with cysts and pain etc - I really hope things get more comfortable for you soon :(

roobear a belated happy birthday - I hope it was a good one!

SamB I have just c and P'd your list as it looks good to me! A hospital bag is the priority job on my (long) list of things to do!

Elsa I hope your dog is feeling better after his castration! Poor little man Grin

Floozie swollen ankles are fab, especially when you are wearing a skirt/dress in a vague attempt to cool down at work. Its quite a look, I feel your pain!

AbfabT your shopping skills and ideas are adding to my list of "things to do" - good advice, esp on nappies thanks! (I have spent 40 mins reading this thread and finally thinking about the baby for the first time in days!!)

Sorry for any I have missed - its a mission to catch up on you all!

So I am 34 weeks, borderline anaemic (again!) so stuffed with iron and feeling better for it. feel pretty good generally BUT my fanjo is not going to be the same again (you may have seen my thread in pregnancy from 2 weeks ago - I will not link as its TMI for a sunday night!!!) but at least I am mobile and sleeping well (in one position only - lhs, lots of pillows, but it works - anything else and I can't sleep)

Bump was breech for ages, but at the last appointment was more of a head down/transverse lie so we are hoping to avoid getting interfered with. They try moxibustion first here on the NHS thank goodness, but I still don't want messing around with!

I am scared stiff of post natal - keeping up with ds with LO in tow is going to be really tough as he is mischievious and in the running off giggling phase - I think its going to be really hard for the first 6-12months but worth it in the long run! Desperate to avoid a c-section as I won't be able to relax in the recovery phase!!!

Any way, this was an essay, sorry about that, I just have not been able to sit down and read or write anything for far far too long!!

:) x

nymphadora · 22/08/2010 20:52

Floozie- got one from an independent sorry. Think you can buy them online

Am at home in bed now & feel much better! Baby spinning again though.

Who was it that was doing 2 hour walks Shock I knew I was unfit but my limit is about 10 mins now :(

Last time I was pg I had a dodgy mole removed and they were never sure what it was as it was changing but they didn't know what into. I now have 2 new ones quite faint but more or less on top of the scar so going to have to get them seen now. Hoping it's a pregnancy thing since I've been fine for 9 years but it's a bit worrying. Also last time I was under a plastic surgeon as it's quite obvious so any op will remove more of an area with not much left!

OP posts:
moonstorm · 22/08/2010 22:07

In little over a week, we'll be giving birth 'next month'...

Shock
floozietoozie · 22/08/2010 23:41

Nymph thanks, that's what I feared. I need to see one and try ds out in anything before I buy as he's such a big boy. Someone on MN said it was good if you had an older child eg with SN who needed a pram still so I'm hoping when she said her four-year-old fitted in it that the child in question was big and not petite. No way of knowing till I see it.

Hi Seashells nice to have you back. I am a bit fearful about post natal too coping with disabled (demanding) son and new baby. Think I may have my head slightly in the sand about how hard it's going to be...

Hermya321 · 22/08/2010 23:50

Hi Seashells long time, no see!

Moonstorm Thats very very scary!!

Elsa123 · 23/08/2010 09:35

Morning all. Welcome back Seashells I'm glad you're still with us. How're the 60mph winds doing in your neck of the woods?

Moonstorm I am Shock with you, crikey, not long to go and I can't help feeling that 4 weeks off prior to due date is not long enough! I'm back in work this morning and already totally fed up with it. I've already had 3 egotastic males try and trample all over me and I just cannot be arsed with it. On the plus side, someone has been nominated to take over from me from Nov (better late than never) and is coming up for a handover Thurs/Fri this week, which is only slightly annoying as i did have sneaky plans to take Friday off Grin nevermind- he's going to have to put up with the fact that Friday is going to be somewhat shorter!

I still have no joy with getting a cotbed. We cancelled the Kiddisave Cosatto one and went to Mothercare, M&P and Babies R Us at the weekend. The service in mothercare is good, but the quality of the cotbeds is really naff and they're pretty expensive. We eventually plumped for the Amie Cotbed in white from M&P (not ideal as I wanted a bed that wouldn't blend in with the walls of the nursery!). I ordered it online, only to find its currently out of stock, so i'm hopefully going to find out today when its due. The sales assistant was really blase about me being due in Oct and said that the beds should be due in late Sep/ early Oct, so that would be fine. I don't know if I'm being anal but i don't want to take that risk of waiting all that time and then having no room for manoeuvre if the bed isn't right. So I'll have a Moses basket thats 35 years old at my home in Lincs and an Amby Nest for down in Bucks.

Where is everyone getting their bedding from?

piesey · 23/08/2010 10:13

Good morning!
Hello everyone - welcome to all you newbies!
Hi Seashells glad you are ok - Can't believe you are 34 weeks - not long for you now. I'm still only 30+5.

We are settling into our new flat a bit more now. Still need a wardrobe and other storage systems so lots still in boxes. We got a sofabed from my uncle on Saturday - hardly used!

I also bought a few baby things like a changing mat, changing bag, a foam bath support, muslin squares and some little cotton hats and bootees. I feel better about this and starting to get things together. I also found my knitting in one of the many boxes so have started on that again too.

Nymph I'm with you on the only being able to walk for 10 mins - I get so out of breath and stairs fill me with dread. I'm not even that big, but walking really takes it out of me. My sister is 39 weeks pg and has two children and runs around after them all day and doesn't seem that tired - no idea how she does it!

DillyDora · 23/08/2010 11:52

Hi all, just popping in to say hello. Achey/stiff ladies - when I went to the physio class on pelvic girdle pain they explained that that pain & stiffness on getting up was a result of

  • your muscles relaxing while you sit
  • relaxed ligaments (which they are bound to be as you get nearer the birth)
To help you can brace yourself before you get up which means clenching butt, legs and lower tum or do a few butt clenches and let go - should get your muscles geed up for movement and help a bit. I forget every single time....

Just seen mw, Toby is breech, my tight tummy muscles (why thank you ma'am!) are holding it all in which is why he tickles round my sides so much and I look smaller than I am. But she was v chilled and said it's too early to worry (31 +4) and you can have a vaginal breech birth anyway. Trying not to worry, DH was there which helps...he remembers better than me what was said.

RooBear · 23/08/2010 12:28

Hello busy people! Got my mw appt soon which I'm looking forward to, flump is kicking the life out me at the mo (31+2)!

picking up pram from a friend tonight and getting the nursery furniture on sat. Its all happening, started to pack babys bag at the weekend and I was looking at the labels, newborn says 11lb does that mean upto or have I bought too big?

Sorry to hear that some of you are suffering esp. nymph floozie and vikks. hope you feel better soon.

nymphadora · 23/08/2010 12:47

Dilly-still got ages left to turn. My baby seems to turn every couple of days although I have no stomach muscles to do anything! Think they start getting in position 36+

Roo- if they say newborn/first size they wi be up to 11lb 0-3 m may be from 11lb.

OP posts:
shieldbug · 23/08/2010 12:48

Morning all!

tyson take care of yourself! Hope you got an opportunity to relax after all of that activity. How are you feeling about the home birth at the moment? It may be that if you are more relaxed because you are at home that it's not as painful anyway (just guessing there- perhaps other mnetters might be able to give advice?).

nymph hope that the moles aren't anything to worry about. Glad that you are feeling a bit better. Hope you managed a good night's sleep despite spinning baby!

seashells good to hear from you again.

Roo I'm pretty sure the mewborn stuff is up to 11lb so you should be fine. Know what you mean about having the life kicked out of you- sproglet is extremely active too.

dilly I reckon there's ages yet for babies to turn in, but fingers crossed it happens sooner rather then later so you don't have to worry about it.

hermya and moonstorm I must confess to being a saddo trekkie (I like DS9 best). I even have dvd box sets of some of the star trek series. Ok, perhaps I shouldn't admit to that!

shieldbug · 23/08/2010 12:49

Sorry meant to say wish you all the best for your scan today vikks. Hope all goes well.
