Morning Sad, {warning, I am about to moan},

I'm sick to death of this back pain and bump ache. Ooof. I am ok if I lie on my right side. Once I get up and start doing anything the pain starts. I lie down, it goes, I get up and have about ten minutes pain free and then it returns. And so it goes on. Sitting seems to be worse, particalarly at my desk (where I should be essay writing) and in the car. And all the doctor could say was that it might be gastric. He gave me medication that hasn't been proven to be safe in pregnancy. Why would I take it - especially as it was based on a speculative diagnosis and may not even be needed. It's so draining and I am grumpy with everyone because it hurts all the bloody time.

And. And, I got a letter in the post yesterday from my midwife saying that the blood that she took three weeks ago showed that my iron was low. With a leaftlet advocating that I ate more liver including pate. What is that all about? Why would you write to someone. I was there on Monday and it wasn't mentioned even though I asked for my blood test results.

I'm stopping now. Sorry. I don't rant very often Blush. I'll try to develop a better attitude before I post again.

shieldbug · 20/08/2010 10:05

SamB rant away! That's what we're here for. Its strange giving you a leaflet that says to eat more liver, when that's one of the things they advise against doing when pg. Confused. Can you see anybody else about the pain? It doesn't seem right that it hurts so much with gastric problems. Can you get advice from the mw? Poor you- hope things improve soon.

Did I mention that we've finally bought a pram? We found a silver cross navy denim 3d one that was the end of the line so was greatly reduced. It's lurking in the corner of our bedroom now and everytime I see it I get all excited about the thought of actually using it!

Gave poor sproglet a shock in the shower this morning- woke it up when I directed the spray onto my bump and it gave the most enormous leap. Funny thing was, it went straight back to sleep again.(I'm assuming no movements means its asleep).

shieldbug · 20/08/2010 10:10

Sorry, meant to say nymph, floozie and dontstopmenow hope you have great hols/weekends away. Have fun Smile

nymphadora · 20/08/2010 10:28

Hoooooooooooooooooooooootttttttttttttttttttttttt

have windows open & fan going & am so drained!

Please let tomorrow be cool for sitting in the theatre! Have a pile of clothes out but not actually packed. Kids just about sorted themselves so fingers crossed that they have packed the right stuff.

sheildbug I love the shower story! must have given you a shock too Smile. Mine did a leap like that when DH started hammering, it was very funny. Congratulations on the pram too, well done for getting a bargain! Ours is all wrapped up in the garage, but I'm starting to really want to get it out and play with it now...

SamB poor you, no need to apologise for moaning. There's plenty of other good sources of iron than liver so that letter was very odd, and its strange they didn't mention it at your appointment.

you may or may not remember all my stress about the crib - my parents were planning to just bring it down on my due date when they were in the area on holiday. Anyway, luckily my dad is down this way with friends this weekend so its going to be arriving, I'm very excited, I think having it in the house will start to make everything feel real. I found a website where you can order made-to-measure crib mattresses as well, as I was struggling to find any in the shops, so hopefully within the next few days the baby will actually have somewhere to sleep - progress!

has anyone else noticed their DH changing as the arrival of the baby becomes more imminent? Mine has always wanted children, and was so excited to try for a baby and when I found out I was pregnant, but he's also normally been fairly uninterested in babies generally. Now he has started pointing them out in the supermarket etc, its lovely but quite a change! Apparently I will be risking my life if I tell his friends though Grin

hope you all have lovely weekends, especially those who are going away

Elsa123 · 20/08/2010 13:10

SamanthaB123 please do moan away and bring your badass attitude on here Smile. I feel totally fed up too. My bump hurts today it has that raw feeling on the inside like I've been eating unripe fruit or damsons or something, but the pains not my gut, but the muscle. Its making me grumpy. I'm also, wierdly avoiding populating all my new fitted wardrobes upstairs by cleaning out my kitchen cupboards! There are flies everywhere and its not because something sinister is rotting in the kitchen- its because there are flies everywhere outside and its humid and they love it. These particular little b***ds are immune to the rentokil fly spray I have, so I've been killing them with an electric tennis raquet type thing. Time consuming but satisfying. My Scottie is however terrified of the noise.

On the plus side, my spaniel's had his stitches checked and he's now cleared for walkies and my Scottie is parading round with a new haircut, looking very smart. We've bought 2 pot plants and some smart bright conifers to put either side of the front door, so when the weather is less pants I'll go outside and plant them up. I could have punched the lady in the garden centre though who 'advised' my DH to put everything onto a table for me where I could amuse myself happily planting (like I was a little lady who needs help) grr. She also told me I was wrong to not want the free Jonquil bulbs they had. I won't plant them and they'll sit around doing nothing.

I should be more cheerful as I slept reasonably well. Ho hum! x x x

Hermya321 · 20/08/2010 14:17

Tiredfeet Thats great news about the crib. I'm glad you're getting things sorted.

Shieldbug Awww bless your LO, mine doesn't react at all when I'm in the shower. It's likes the bath though, makes my bump go mad everytime I'm in there.

SamB How odd, I can't believe that they sent you that sort of information.

Is anyone else doing the old coming home outfit? I can't seem to decide on mine at all. Everythings so damn cute!!

Apart from that small stress, I've mostly been sat around watching Gavin and Stacy and am going into town later to take the car to the Garage. I hope nothings wrong with it, but I fear we may have to replace the break pads.

Tyson86 · 20/08/2010 17:30

Hello everyone, im feeling very happy as took a spontaneous trip to the seaside with dh and ds, we went in the tent overnight and got back late last night, it was so fun!
Very tired now though, still not recovered from all the walking and also been on a few miles walk today in the country.

:)

Vikks · 20/08/2010 20:28

Hi Everyone, hope you have lovely weekends.
I just need to shout "I've finished work!!!" no more running around after 50 kids for me from now on I'm just focusing on my little one. Time for some feet up action and a good book. GrinGrinGrin

Hermya I've been thinking long and hard about the outfit, I think I narrowed it down to a little blue and white stripey set, soooo cute! What are you thinking?

Hermya321 · 20/08/2010 21:22

Vikks Either this, this or this. It'll be teamed with a cream hooded cardigan and matching hat.

Took the car to the Garage, they said the exhaust might be blowing. I've got to take it back next week so they can do a more detailed check. If it's not one thing or another isn't it.

Vikks · 20/08/2010 21:59

Hermya They are so lovely! How exciting! I like them all, maybe at a push the first one. x

Elsa123 · 20/08/2010 22:09

They are all gorgeous Hermya I love the 1st one too. I'm not buying a special outfit because I don't know the sex of the baby and I ahve not seen anything that I like in neutral colours, so its going to be a white babygro with a cardigan knitted by nanas! There's competitive grandparenting going on- my MIL posted a tiny baby cream hooded cardigan with toggles. I told my mum and she came round this evening with 3, white, cream and yellow!

I would take the car to one of those tyre, exhaust and brake places. They're really focussed and rarely charge the earth that normal garages do.

Congratulations on finishing work Vikks, I'm jealous! I have 3 weeks left from Monday and I'm not looking forward to writing appraisals and handover notes!

Tyson Glad you were all happy campers- have fun recovering!

Tyson86 · 20/08/2010 22:19

Hermya the last pic didnt show up for me, so out of the first 2 my fave is the first one, but they both gorgeous

I was looking on vertbaudet and have fell in love with some of the velour babygros. Grin

Hermya321 · 20/08/2010 22:29

Elsa My garage are actually really good, they were recomended to me by one of my female friends and the first few times I used them I did the usual compare the prices with other garages and they were the only ones who weren't trying to actively rip me off. They're really good as well as they always put the car on the lift and show you whats wrong and then do it again when you pick up to show you that they have indeed put it right.

On the outfit front, I think the first one is a winner. I may have to get the others anyway as they're so so cute!!!

shieldbug · 21/08/2010 16:09

hermya loving those outfits! The first gets my vote too. I don't know what I'm having, but I finally got round to buying some vests today from Mamas and Papas in neutrals. I also found a nice soft blanket for general use in one of the cheapo type stores so I'm finally feeling like we are making progress on the shopping front. Only trouble is I shopped for too long and I'm too exhausted to do anything else today.

Hope you are all having good weekends

nymphadora · 21/08/2010 16:54

Am in v grumpy & moany mode so feel free to ignore me! Feel absolutely useless , spent last 24 hours saying ' can't walk that far' ' need to sit down' 'hoooottttttt' also was feeling v aggressive this morning when people got in my way Blush

All enjoyed Hamlet though despite the fire evacuation part way through ( which at least cooled me down).

Had night from hell last night. See here if you want to know. For those with children over 3, I'd appreciate any feedback.

Tired and depressed (and in work). Sad. Starting to dread going to bed now.

Hermya321 · 21/08/2010 17:56

Nymph You poor thing, are you getting treated well by DH and DD's? I'm sorry that you're feeling so crappy, you really haven't had that great a time of it have you. I would suggest an appropriate amount of ice cream and various big fans to help you feel better.

Shieldbug I'm trying to stay away from Mamas and Papas, they have too many nice things that I want to buy.

I've been to an Aquariam today, had an absolute blast with a friend of mine who was visiting me. Although I did get scared by the tidal pool tank, they had actual waves. I didn't realise this until I was stood over the top of the spurt and squealed like a little girl. I was highly embarassed. Blush

Vikks · 21/08/2010 18:24

Nymph & Floozie I'm joining you for a moan too. First day of no work and I've had my head in the loo all day Sad!
It is just me or does anyone else get ill as soon as they stop and relax?
I've been washing Harry's clothes this afternoon and having a sort for him to cheer myself up. They do look super cute hanging out to dry. Wink
Shield I'm glad you've had a nice day.

Don't know what to do with myself now........more tea I think (spot the Yorkshire girl) x

Tyson86 · 21/08/2010 19:20

Have just decided that i am absolutely terrified of the prospectof giving birth on just gas and air, i think i need to re-adjust my thoughts abit as at the moment cant stop thinking of c-sections!

vikks sorry you have felt ill, i love looking through sophies stuff, it is like shopping all over again. Grin

Hermya321 · 21/08/2010 19:57

Tyson You can have an epidural, you don't just have to give birth on gas and air. There are very very many painkillers.

Vikks I'm sorry that you're not feeling well.

Tyson86 · 21/08/2010 20:36

Sorry Hermya realised my post is missing the point, im having a home birth.

Hermya321 · 21/08/2010 20:46

Oh right Tyson, is there anyone who you can talk to in RL that can give you a bit of reassurance? Or is there any posibility of any other pain relief being available to you should you need it? Are you having a water birth at all, thats supposed to help with pain.

nymphadora · 21/08/2010 21:18

Can't help on birth/ pain relief stuff Tyson but get the Mw to sit & go through it all with you.

Lol at Hermya & the aquarium, I think I know where you mean. I like the diving ducks!

Feeling a bit better now we came back to hotel at 7 ish & have all been laying around reading & am more comfy. Plan for tomorrow is Warwick castle so I'll be sitting places whilst dh takes dds places. Not the best holiday but it's alli can do :(

Hospital on tues so can see what cons says about the tired/crapnrss.

Forgot to say we also went to
Mothercare today & why are all nighties pink? I won't wear pink for anything. Loads of pink underwear too Hmm
