Meh. I'm sure the only reason the nurses put a drip in on each side was to stop me rolling over and sleeping on my tummy in the hospital!

drom I think that's amazingly positive. I told my friends too - because to me it was really happy news and I wanted to enjoy the pregnancy not spend every single day worrying. Easier said than done of course!

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 16:58

I told a few friends in the early days! I just figured that I would have told them if things went wrong too and I needed to explain non drinking (taking antibiotics or heavy day at work the following day just doesn't cut it with my mates when the know how much I like wine). Twas only a select few though.

I have a banging headache and have been attacked by flying ants all day.

ChoChoSan · 19/07/2010 17:19

Hi there folks.

Popping in to see where SirIgnatiousofPopsville is and disappointed to see that she is in here and not turning purple with the pressure of giving birth

Well I am 12 + 1 today, so it looks like I should be accepting that Jesus really did put a baybee in my tumtum, around now, though I have decided to wait until my next scan on Thursday before making any grand public announcement!

Just thought I'd let you know that I will prolly be hanging out in Deli from now on, but for now, all I have to say is - WHAT THE FUCK ARE MATERNITY BRAS ON ABOUT?? They are so U.G.L.Y, they ain't got no alibi...what happened to the 'lift and separate' principle that should surely underpin the architectural principles guiding any bra design?

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 17:36

reg nice to have you back! And yay for the anomaly free scans!

chochalina welcome and you are correct, I am waiting innit... Actually I meant to say I wrote long post to you in uvverplace which vanished - commenting on the fabulousness of your scan news... So am sorry It vanished... Am with you on maternity bras, in the end I bought a load of hotmilk nursing ones which are ok.. With the reasoning that they will be of use for longer... But is hard to find nice ones...

PerfectDromedary · 19/07/2010 17:38

12+1! Wooohooooo!

I have not examined the matter of maternity bras as yet. But I assume that once you are officially A Mother you aren't allowed sexy underwear anymore.

ChoChoSan · 19/07/2010 17:42

I got a hotmilk one and Elle McPherson...both Nursing Bras, but still awful...I am only in a farkin E cup, but they look as though they were designed to prevent a pair of dirigibles from floating away!

Thanks for good news congrats

Anyone round here planning a homebirth?

Medee · 19/07/2010 17:52

Woohoo Muuuuuuuuuser am so, so happy for you! See, I knew it would be fine!

If you feel at all nervous about telling, wait.

Chocho chuffed for you too reaching you 12 weeks, hurrah for the immaculate conception!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 19/07/2010 17:58

Yes ChoCho, my homebirth involved an induction and an emcs though... so mebbe you need to talk to someone else. E.g., donttry...

Best laid plans of mice & men et al! Huge congrats to you obviously!

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 18:01

cho mine are E or F cups - I agree they are not border collie bras (round em up and point em in right direction) but they are better than some of the utterly hideous things I tried in the early days... Am sure moo recommends Anita ones or something? And I do also have some Royce ones - which are minging to look at - but do actually provide some shape under clothes...

Medee · 19/07/2010 18:01

what's with the flying ants? Are they actual ants, flying?

Anyway, had my booking in appointment today, left with a massive pack of stuff and an appointment for two weeks to get bloods etc taken. She dates me as 7 weeks, but I say 6 (didn't correct her though, want my scan as soon as to avoid my holiday). She was really lovely and I should see her at all my appointments at the surgery.

Muser · 19/07/2010 18:24

They are actual ants, flying. It's a phenomenon known as Flying Ant Day

Glad the booking in appointment went well Medee.

I am coming round to the idea of telling some more close friends. But no mass public announcements on Facebook.

Cho woot for 12+1! I am not planning a homebirth as wouldn't feel comfy in my flat when I know the soundproofing is bad. But my hospital is a very short walk away and has a brand spanking new 'home from home' centre that I would very much like to use. All private, en suite rooms, most with a birthing pool or if not a bath, plus birthing balls and all that jazz.

rollerbaby · 19/07/2010 18:31

woo hoo Chocho come on in and join the lurve. yep lift and separate, what the fuck is that? My current hotmilk boob support is definitely comfortable though and I guess will last through til feeding. I've got 2 of these and I bought 2 Anita underwire T shirt style bras off nursing-bra shop.co.uk. I've grown out of them though and the wire was pushing in which is obviously a big no no. They are VERY comfy and lovely support which when you are this size is no joke. I did buy a wonderbra F cup though which is VERY lift and separate but I need a chest expander thingy for it. I save that for special occasions and pray it won't affect any booby milk duct growth.

Also originally planned on homebirth with doula, but last week we had a bit of a change of heart (mainly initiated by mr moo) and I don't have the will to oppose him really. The MLU at Tooting is supposed to be amazingly good and I know we'll be safe hands (i.e. a floor away) if anything goes wrong. I don't want to go into it negatively. But I can't relax if I know Mr Moo isn't relaxed if you see what I mean. The midwife was v honest and they basically can't guarantee that you are making a risk free choice and to that end when we asked ourselves if we were happy with that, we couldn't really go ahead.

SilverSky · 19/07/2010 20:07

Lots of super yays for medee, muser and chocho! I hope I haven't forgotten anyone! Preggo brain means no retained info lasts for longer than 3 secs.

Maternity bras - a league of their own! I too have the monoboob and am suffering from the ever increasing cleavage. It just keeps expanding! My over shoulder boulder holder is from M&S. The lovely lady told me that they don't go any bigger than an H which is what I am wearing. Page 3 eat your heart out.

Seriously I am not sure how much longer this bra has really. Big boobs iz a curse. I tell thee.

I am 27 wks today and utterly shagged. No energy. I miss doing stuff with the nag. Walking k9 is a mahoosive effort. I feel pathetic.

iggs still Wednesday for me young lady. I guess reduced movement is due to lack of room and cos the head is heading sarf.

Is it the weekend yet?

SilverSky · 19/07/2010 20:12

Oh and the continuous need to piss and the farting is back with a vengence. I think my masculine side is trying to breakthrough. Its no joke. What to do!!!

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 20:16

Welcome cho! I am still in underwired 50% of the time - no wire just makes it all hang a bit too loose and I need some uplift with various work related tops for important meetings. I am a bit vertically challenged so I need to enhance other assets, preggers or not. I really don't think it will affect t'milk.

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 20:19

Same here Silver and you know that discussion we all had a while ago about not "perspiring" while preggers? well it is not true anymore. I feel I smell like a P I G. I have to have a shower when I get in and carry a little Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir with me at all time!

Muser · 19/07/2010 21:05

Right, we've had a proper chat and are not going to do massive announcements until 12 weeks. But we are telling a few more select friends.

CluckyKate · 19/07/2010 21:05

Actually planned to do it with last one but, despite bonkers off-roading session with Boxer, this baybee did not want to come out...ended up being induced with forceps delivery so birth pool & plastic sheets went back on eBay unused.

Undeterred I'm going to try for one again - no idea how I'm going to deal with the pain as turns out I was a total wimp & begging for an epidural after just 5 hours & only 2cm.....the theory goes that being at home I'll be more relaxed & so better able to deal with it. Will also give the hypno-stuff a try as a friend went on a course and felt no pain (but could see why people might interpret it as pain ).

So, you thinking 'bout it too Cho or is your mind made up??

Congrats on the little ticker ticking Muse - 'tis a v. emotional & tear-inducing moment.

I wore underwiring last time & breastfed with no probs. The lady in M&S today told me I should be OK provided the wire didn't dig into the actual boob and, quite frankly, I'm not ready to drop them down to my waist just yet

SilverSky · 19/07/2010 21:10

okie I hear you. I can't smell you tho so the pong can't be that bad!

It's horrid being so self conscious anyway. Well who wouldn't be when Him Indoors comments "that's not a bum - that's a shelf". Everytime I went to the ladies for a comfort break it was as though the mirror was taunting me "look at THAT ass! It's huge".

Didn't help that butt was causing dress to lift up and make it slightly shorter behind.

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 21:13

Hmmmm something happening... Haz had show... Could still be days away tho, so don't you lot get too excited..

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 21:17

Yes, unlike Iggy who is just all neat bump, everything I have seems to have gained this pregnancy, arse, tits, thighs the lot. Last time I seemed to get away with kitten heels throughout but this time I am still having to wear 3 inch heels to elongate me so I don't look ridiculous.

"comfort break" that made me chuckle!

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 21:18

Oooo, Oooo, Ooooo, iggy is going to lay a baby within 24 hrs!!! I nearly weed myself then!

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 21:18

On due date too methinks.

rollerbaby · 19/07/2010 21:24

IGGY!!!! Ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh.

Can you have sex after you've had a show. Maybe try that whilst eating curry on your bouncy ball...

Go on.

Muser · 19/07/2010 21:27

oooooh, iggy!
