Back from a lovely weekend in gorgeous Munich. Wanted to pop in to leave these plugs on the floor for muse to walk on in her bare feet. Now that's violence! Will be thinking of you and your scan today Miss muse - can't wait to hear how it goes...

iggy exciting stuff! Could be any minute now! Hurrah for new peshlets. Shall be checking back for updates on the smallest twinge. We heart live labour!

vag do not let other people annoy you with comments on your bump. I find it helpful to google other people's bump pictures from the same number of weeks and glory in the variety and the fact that we are in fact pretty average!

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 09:27

Lucks for the scan muse and also nipple tweaks....

Still no news here... Baybee very quiet, am hoping this is ok tho... It is still moving, so guess no need for panic yet... Just used to more violence...

SkiHorseWonAWean · 19/07/2010 10:05

iggy Phone your consultant, that's what you pay all your wonga for. Bear slowed down towards the end and look how that turned out!

Muser · 19/07/2010 10:06

I saw my baby's heart beating. I'm just going to be over here having a happy weep.

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 10:10

muse yay!!! Excellent news!!!

ski I might do... But I just did my relaxation cd an felt lots of movements, as usual... Think am being paranoid... I mean I had everything checked on fri... But I still worry...

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 19/07/2010 10:26

Delighted for you muse! It's a wonderful feeling! Any more details? Have you an EDD now? Is it about what you thought? Was your OH with you and how is he? Did they give you a picture that looks like a tiny peanut?

Iggy it's normal to worry, but as far as I can see, a reduction/slow down of movement seems to be a sign of labour being not too far away. And you know the other signs are pointing that way too. Given that you have just felt the usual pattern during the relaxation CD, I wouldn't be too worried, but call your consultant for a chat if you want to. You are perfectly entitled to do that.

Muser · 19/07/2010 10:43

EDD is still 27 Feb, although she did measure it a few days smaller - which would make sense given I know I ovulated late. But she said that they'd make any amendments at 12 weeks when it's all a bit easier to measure.

MrM was there and is awestruck and slightly teary. Seeing the heartbeat floored us both. Makes it all seem so much real.

And yes, I have a tiny picture that looks like nothing. But it's my baybee!

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 10:47

Muse that is wonderful news

OkieCokie · 19/07/2010 10:49

Oh and talk about weeping, I watched Dragon's Den last night and cried! What is all that about? Muser ain't it nice when our fellas get choked too? I am really pleased for you! It is all good news!

PerfectDromedary · 19/07/2010 10:51

Woooooo! Muse How exciting! Am so happy that all is ok.

And Iggs, if you're worried, call the nice doctor. Reassurance is always helpful.

rollerbaby · 19/07/2010 10:53

Muser that is wonderful wonderful news!! I can only imagine how happy and relieved you are right now.

Iggy if you are in the least bit worried, I would call your midwife/hospital... I'm sure it's all normal, but worth it for peace of mind.

Okie I dare you to do it.

Very fucking luckily I spotted that hairy moo had eaten entire strip of nurofen this morning. Cue rush to vets round corner, barely dressed. He had an injection to make him vomit alot and is now feeling very sorry for himself as you might imagine. I feel so guilty leaving lethal drugs lying around by accident. What a bad mother I am.

CUNextTuesday · 19/07/2010 10:54

iggs Rastus went AWOL in the days before birth. Just small sporadic movements. They are too big to do much moving about. SQWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE iggy's going to hatch one out!!!

Backinthebox · 19/07/2010 11:20

Yay for scans and nearly-here babies!

Had MW again today and apparently all the hands-and-knees I have been doing has persuaded this baby to move to correct position. Now all I have to do is keep him there for the next 6-8 weeks. And then maybe I'll have a baby that does what I ask of it! (Or maybe not. )

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 11:26

You lot are excellent, am feeling much better now

okie Thursday is ok, I like that... Have been thinking weds... But I expect it will come later than that!

cunts muchly fanks. I am def still feeling small movements... So must just be lack of space...

Plus, you are all right... I can just call the doc and ask him if I want to...

SkiHorseWonAWean · 19/07/2010 12:36

iggy Very good to hear! As for BH, when I got to the hospital I was given CTG (baby's heart rate, pulse & my contractions) - it was quite clear I was having them and yet I didn't feel one single BH throughout the entire pg. Also, when I was induced I didn't really "feel" anything until it all went wrong - although from the monitors my muscles were all over the place. You're clearly just a tough nut!

How very exciting for you - you'll end this week with a baybee!

muser Congratulations on your shrimp!

Cosmosis · 19/07/2010 12:52

muser, yay for scanz nekkid dance?

Muser · 19/07/2010 13:03

I think nekkid dance is in order.

Muser · 19/07/2010 13:16

Help. MrM is on a buzz from the scan and now wants to tell friends now. A very select few know, but not most. I am a bit terrified by the idea. We should wait until 12 weeks, shouldn't we? Did you all wait until 12?

iggypiggy · 19/07/2010 13:44

muse I wouldn't tell, but I was v paranoid and needed the 12 week scan before I felt safe to say.. But is totally up to you. Once you have seen a heartbeat, the chance o anything going wrong is v small.

Muser · 19/07/2010 14:09

Your reasons are mine iggy. MrM is of the view that the chance of something going wrong now is not much different to the chance of something going wrong at 20 weeks. I have told him we will discuss it this evening.

PerfectDromedary · 19/07/2010 14:25

You have to go with what you feel comfortable with, muse. No harm in waiting. I am massively indiscreet, so I've told a few people already - partially because, if something does go wrong, I will have had the nice joyous moment of sharing good news.

Why did no one warn me that I would have an entire armful of blood taken as part of the booking-in thing? Pshaw.

rollerbaby · 19/07/2010 14:29

It's a hard one, but on balance we decided that as iggy and the consultant who conducted the scan early (not sonographer) said, we were 99% likely to go ahead and have the baby having seen the heartbeat. Of course there is always a small chance, but then that could happen any time like you say. Maybe tell your nearest and dearest and then hang on a few extra weeks for the rest?

It's such lovely, exciting news I couldn't help myself. My husbo had to hold me back.

I am celebrating on your behalf with some vanilla cheesecake.

HeyHo Ladies

Long time no speaketh, but as ski quite rightly states, I've been inundated with visitors, cleaning for impending visitors and work. In short life sucks, but I'll just carry on and get on with it. What was this nonsense about the 2nd trimester filling you with energy and making you bloom? So far I'm f*cked, spotty and look like a lepper .

Hello to all new Deli customers ! Hope t'others have been keeping you from menkulling too much and have been the tower of support they were to me in the early weeks and months!

Individual mucho congrats to ski and rots obviously, and super pushes to iggs since it sounds like you may be ready to pop!

muser we did tell people after the 12 week scan, but that backfired a bit as we then had not so happy results from the downs screening just a few days after we made "the announcement" which left things difficult till we'd had the amnio results back. So my advice is if you're having the screening wait for those results to come back too. Makes life much easier!

All is well here, had our anomaly 20 weeks scan, and then a private one done at 21 weeks - both of which came back normal, which was nice! Best of all we got an early 3d scan done when she was checking for cleft palate, so we have a nice pic of what I would say looks a bit like a little old man slapping himself in the face. Nonetheless, it is still lovely to put an actual face to what has so far been just a 2d outline, so I'm much looking forward to our proper 3d scan at 27 weeks!

Got my Doppler scan this Friday to make sure no early symptoms of pre-eclampsia - don't know if that'll be with a consultant or just a trained sonographer, so we'll wait and see. Good job visitors have gone, otherwise I might have got mis-diagnosed I'm sure!

Been looking at nursery furniture, is it me or is M&P stuff just overpriced for what it is? I've finally settled on some nice stuff from John Lewis after me and my sister quality controlled it in the shop (ie. tried hanging off it, pulling it apart and kicking it lots) and it seemed to hold up very well, so I'm hoping to order that this week. We'll have to leave it flat packed for now though since the room still needs to be decorated.

Other than that I think the only other major bit of kit we need to get is breast pump and accessories, and after that it's just clothes and other such niceties - oh, and cot bedding, must add that to the list!

Got to say, finding it much harder to roll over in bed now thought I've still not got the hang of this left side sleeping. OH has been pestering me like poo about it, so before I lost my cool over it all I asked our private consultant what her thoughts were - she said that my body would know when to move so I should listen to it then and not worry about it otherwise. So I shall do that. It's bad enough not getting enough sleep cos you're pissing 3 times a night let alone because you can't get to sleep because you keep waking thinking "argh! i'm not on my left, I've killed the baybee".

Other joy to report is it appears baby likes playing with my sciatic nerve - he keeps laying on it causing the worst pins and needles ever! Luckily if I just poke the wodge a bit it eases up so no major problems to report apart from me be a whiny moo!

Stupidest preggo moment this week - me to OH "OMG I can't believe that plane is so noisy, I could go into spontaneous labour you know!" - we were at an airshow.

Mushiness and slaps to all!

rollerbaby · 19/07/2010 15:13

Ahhh Reggie my fellow retail expert, good to have you back!! Don't worry I wake up EVERY night on my back. I can't be arsed to worry about it. I tink its just the last month or so you need to be more careful. Even then we'll be lucky to sleep at all from whats been said.

I've gone off M&P's a bit... I don't think the furniture is that nice/good value either... We've paid out and got the stokke crib/bed which is great as rolls about and means I don't need to be arsed with a moses basket - straight into his bed which is nice and small and cosy to begin with. The rest of the furniture is basically me painting a set of pine drawers and bedside table to match white. I haven't bought either but reckon should be half the price of matching stuff in M&P. And will last alot longer. Also going to get a white Ektorp armchair and footstool from IKEA. Figure can go in spare room eventually and won't need to flog on ebay cos ugly. Probably slightly less ergonomic though than a trad BF glider chair. I just personally think they are yuck, but I have very strict minimalist tastes which are not necessarily compatible with life as parent (As Mr Moo constantly reminds me as I put away his keys for the 6798th time that week).

reginaMonologue · 19/07/2010 15:43

moo nice choice on the stokke - I have thought about that but not sure cos of the types of sheets and things it takes - are they custom to Stokke? Or will any old sheet do? I guess we're lucky enough that our room is just big enough to take a full size cot to start with so we won't have to faff with a moses basket or anything, and so far the early warning signs from OH is that he'll be temporarily moving out during the week from our bedroom to the guest room - so even less people to worry about and more space for me (I've already invaded his remaining 1/3 of the bed)! I don't mind him schlucking away mon - fri, after all he's got to go to work to earn the money, though it's under the strict proviso that he does help out with night feeds at the weekend (hence the breast pump!).

With you on the ugliness of the glider chair but I had to be evicted from the one I tried out in John Lewis, it was so comfortable I can forgive it's bad looks and I'm very tempted to get one. It'll go lovely in our conservatory when we add on our 2000 ft extension .

Ikea is definitely a good option for some things though, I've just found a shelving unit that will match the lasko stuff I want from John Lewis nicely and provide a bit of extra storage for which I'll be grateful I'm sure!
