Ha I was eating dried fruit from very Graze box at work (specially ordered to counteract previous quantities of monster munch) and a small tub of raisins made me BARF!! It is so weird cos I like dried fruit. Baby clearly doesn't. I'm going to end up with an ASBO that eats wotsits for breakfast I know it.

Iggs have you had your baybee yet??? :O

PerfectDromedary · 08/07/2010 14:04

Maybe it's just the Graze box itself? Can't bear the thought of any of it, will have to cancel.

CurlyCasperBaggedABairn · 08/07/2010 14:06

My idea of eating healthy in pregnancy was to eat LOADS. nuts and raisins took a hike. I was all about the white baguette and cake. Very difficult to turn back from...

PerfectDromedary · 08/07/2010 14:25

Mmmmmm, starchy carbohydrate. Excellent.

Backinthebox · 08/07/2010 14:43

What on earth is a Graze box? Is this something PESHes made up or is this something that exists in the real world? I am taking it it is specially prepared snacks in order to prevent you from eating crap? I have almost no experience at all of working in an office, so am unfamiliar with these things. When I was doing my proper job I just used to ask the galley what snacks there were . Now I am grounded I found out where the nearest chocolate vending machine is to where I have to go on work days. The rest of the time I eat DD's snacks .

As for forbidden food - I have broken every rule at least once except for runny eggs. I know my hens are well looked after but I also know they aren't salmonella jabbed too. Doesn't seem to stop Clucky eating them by the dozen though!

Anyway - I am just back from the Pre-school sports day, which was very revealing. DD won the running race by miles. Clearly she is a physically superior being . She was second in the teddy bear's picnic race, which was also primarily about speed. But she was last in the egg and spoon race - having me yelling 'don't drop the eggs' at her whenever we collect the hens' eggs has clearly made a connection in her brain. She was the only child not to drop her egg, although she tiptoed along like she was carrying, well, eggs.

rollerbaby · 08/07/2010 14:51

Graze boxes are very chi chi delivery boxes of nibbles that are good for you. You order them online (say what you like/don't like and how often) and the turn up so you can, well, graze on stuff all week. Good idea in theory, in practise not good for preggos.

Well done Boxy DD! She sounds like a sportswoman in the making.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 08/07/2010 16:16

boxer I'm afraid you live outside the M25 and I'm not sure you're kool enough for skool! honeymoo has explained.

It would be more useful if a graze box contained cheese & crackers, salty butter, gummi bears, a magnum and 5 B&H!

OkieCokie · 08/07/2010 16:27

Great news Medee. Googling graze boxes now in the hope they contacin 9 chicken McNuggets

SilverSky · 08/07/2010 18:40

I am trying dried fruit but it seems baybee not keen cos it's given me really visits to the lol and it's not a pleasant visit either. Husband was complaining about my farting which woke him up this morning. I blame the dried fruit. Hope the neighbours didn't wake and think an earthquake was in our midsts.

I prefer a carve Graze box thanks. I am having pizza fir tea! Scrummy. Followed by caramel choux bun. In an attempt to counter act the blasted dried fruit.

Congrats boxy on bein the proud mum! Do they have a parents race too?

iggs some people are just eejits. When they next ask jus say you have had the baby about a month ago Nd hadn't they heard?

FannyPriceless · 08/07/2010 19:00

Am thrilled to hear that liitleboxy's sports day was actually competitive! i.e. somebody won and somebody lost. I was afraid the PC police had banned all of that, and I thought I would miss out on being a crazed pushy mummy encouraging presence for my children.

It seems that I can't type for shit

Medee · 08/07/2010 21:19

ooh, I get Graze boxes too - if anyone wants a voucher thingie (i forget if it is for a free or a half price one) just shout and I will email it to you.

What books do people recommend? I feel the need to start reading up (my usual response to anything new) - is What to Expect when you are Expecting the standard text? Does anyone rate Pregnancy Bible? And any good Dads books?

PollyPoo · 08/07/2010 21:37

'lo Meds! I think the MN one comes pretty highly recommended. I bought Kaz Cooke's Rough Guide to Pregnancy which I loved as it was very tongue in cheek, whilst covering all the essentials.

PollyPoo · 08/07/2010 21:46

Just seen a game for the Wii advertised on TV... thought it would appeal to some of you BESHes. It is called Dance on Broadway!

PollyPoo · 08/07/2010 21:47

Soz, that was supposed to be in the palace as we had Broadway/musical convos a few threads back.

rollerbaby · 08/07/2010 21:49

Hey Medee I have a fair few by the bed:

Mumsnet guide to pregnancy (a good first read which i did in about 2 nights jaw on chest)

What to Expect when your expecting (encyclopaedic and good for dipping in and out of)

What to Expect in the First Year (thought I'd better start preparing myself)

Gina Ford Contented Baby Book (was recommended bu I like her advice and think you need to read and make your own mind up about her)

The Baby Whisperer (as above)

Hypnobirthing by Marie Mongan

Mr Moo has 1 or 2 - has he read them? Has he fuck. I think he just bends the spines...

My new super kingsize bed has arrived. Its the dogs bollocks. I may go to bed very early tonight....

PollyPoo · 08/07/2010 21:49

And... seen saw FFS! La la la I've got placenta head.

PollyPoo · 08/07/2010 21:51

Oh Honey I am so jealous of your new bed.

Backinthebox · 08/07/2010 21:54

They didn't have a parent's race, thankfully. I haven't made her competitive, she has developed a need to win all by herself! I wan't be standing for any of this fluffy 'we're all winners' crap either. My children will be good at some things and not at others. We can't all the best at the same things.

Moo you won't be able to sleep in anything else now I love ours - I only wish we had got it before DD starting sleeping sideways in our bed.

I understand about graze boxes now. Ski is right I am just not cool enough! What's wrong with a Twix and a bag of Salt and Shake?

rollerbaby · 08/07/2010 22:03

Pollo pop over, plenty of room for 2 preggos. Ooh er.

Boxy nuffink wrong with twix. 2 chocky fingers much better than a bijou box o nuts as far as I can work out.

Only slight problem with bed (we discovered lying on it earlier) is the hairy moo can jump on!!! Uh oh. He is already spoilt as I have given him spare double duvet all folded on the floor which he loves.

SilverSky · 08/07/2010 22:14

medee I have the Mumsnet guide, the What to Expect and also a day by day guide which I actually bought for Husband. He even refers to it as his book! He likes all the facts ESP about the way the baybee is developing and enjoys updating me when I complain mention a twinge or summat.

The What To Expect when you are Expecting has a section in it for Dads too.

SilverSky · 08/07/2010 22:18

boxy I has emailed you a question!!!!!!

iggypiggy · 08/07/2010 22:24

You lot have just reminded me about the gagging on a cereal bar thing I had... It seems dried fruit nuts and seeds disagree with early diffment... Crisps are good tho...

Thanks all for the sympathies, am liking silver's suggestion of saying I've had it already although I reckon if am more than a week overdue I actually might ended being violent towards people

SilverSky · 08/07/2010 22:30

The human race can be a selfish bitch, every man for himself race.

Turns out that even at nearly 26 wks diffed some people at work have only just found out. Not by looking at me and guessing but cos they were told ! Apparently I am very small and all bump. Tell my bra lady that! The labels in my clothes do not lie, perhaps I am working with people who have eyesight ishoos.

So happy it's Friday. Roll on Friday night. Please please please.

Medee · 08/07/2010 22:42

thanks for the book suggestions - think I will try WTEWYE, and the Mumsnet one. Will wait a while for the ones about what to do when it actually arrives.
