my hairy fajango last week

VirtualPA · 08/07/2010 16:31

I would like to state that the above link isn't a picture! It's a link too my thread!

mrsZaC · 08/07/2010 16:36

oh no virtual how gave me a good giggle though, my auntie got caught doing the hoovering naked once by the window cleaner

CellyD · 08/07/2010 19:33

Virtual that was hilarious, it really cheered me up and my mind off my cankles, Thanks!

Aussieng · 08/07/2010 22:58

Hellooooooo ladies.

Well I finally got my paypal payment sorted. sorry for the delay. Soooo manic.

I think "fingers crossed" that I will finish work tomorrow! Only 39 weeks pregnant and 5 weeks later than planned. I'm sooo tired, I just want to sleep for a week now - ooh and go to the cinema in the middle of the day next week to see the new Twilight film - decadence!

Sooo - you ladies are mkaing me smile with how keen you are to get your LO's out now. I've told Jamie to stay put for an extra week so that I get some "me" time. I'm feeling well, no cankles, no high BP, no protein, heat is not bothering me, iron levels fine etc (smug face) so I'm quite enjoying this stage and want some "me" time for a week or two - partly to get my head back to the relaxed state is was in regarding the birth. We're going to the Americana festival in Newark on Sunday and I have just booked tickets to a comedy club for 5 days after my due date!

Saw MW on Tuesday who has effectively handed me over to the hospital from now on. I see the consultant again on my due date. MW said that they would do a sweep on that date and I fixed her with a very stern look and said "no they bloody well wont". Yay me - I seem to have found my assertive side. Hope it lasts!

Just did my birth plan - thanks to those who posted, I cribbed a little

Glad I'm not the only one whose never had the nerve to get a bikini wax. Apart from worrying about wussiness I'm not sure if there is an ettiquette about how long or short your hairs are supposed to be when you go to be waxed and am too embarrassed to ask.

Night all - hope not too many of you are awake all night!

weehector · 09/07/2010 01:00

Hey to holly & virtual and good to see you back Aussie..was beginning to wonder if there was another baby out there & you were in hospital. Hurrah for finally making it to your final day - your employers were bloody lucky you could hold on & keep going. Hope you get your 'you' time now.

Hurrah also for the turning/engaged babies, especially you vix. We're getting there - intuition, the shooting fanjo pains, lack of gaviscon consumption over the last few days & finally feeling my ribs again here leads me to believe baby Weehector may be engaged too. Who is next? My money is on chulita...(sorry if that's a pressure!).

mrszac have had a swizz at your FB profile & I don't know your hubby but I'm a good bit older than you. Is he actually from Stranraer or did he just work on the boats? The sea is a family affair for me (I used to - I was responsible for some of the crappier tv ads sadly -& my DH still works for CalMac too) but re the Stranraer connection, my uncle & brothers surname is Griffin (both brothers on my FB)...both brothers have worked for Stena and are mid twenties tho' the engineer one is now in the North Sea and the deck officer one has just finished gadding about Cunard cruise ships and is in the middle of exams.

Sleep tight all - off to listen to my hypnobirthing relaxation & affirmations. V impressed with the 1st class last night & am a bit in love with the evangelical labour suite midwives running it..really hoping that one of them is on duty when I finally roll up.

girlsyearapart · 09/07/2010 07:27

Morning all.

chulita yesterday I got dd1 to have a nap on the sofa and dd2 was pottering about so I also watched Desoperate Housewives.

Once I started watching I just couldn't stop!

Saw midwife again yesterday baby still head down not engaged and measuring 37 at 36 wks.

I really have no confidence in her at all- she continually forgets things, asks the same questions over and over, yesterday said she 'must've put my blood test results in with someone else's notes you know how it is', said I'd be induced at 40+12 if no baby before even though she has said that I won't be allowed to go over 40wks.

When I said that she said 'Oh why did I say that??' to which I replied 'My last baby weighed 9lb' she said 'Oh 9lb not too big' I said 'She was 11 days early' the mw replied 'Oh yes that is big then we can't let you go 12 days over..'

bouncingblueberries · 09/07/2010 07:51

Morning girls!

aussie hope you DO get to finish today and get some well-deserved me-time!

Well, looks like we're heading for a heatwave down south this weekend, so I will mostly be looking like this:

If I'm lucky, I might manage to keep it down to a:

But I've decided that today is a good day to give birth, so come on baby, let's get this party started!

Chulita · 09/07/2010 08:42

weehector my money's on blueberries or maybe aussie. In fact most likely aussie cos babies are tricksy and she's happy to keep going a bit longer

gya blood tests in someone else's file?! Just what you need to fill you with confidence - hope she doesn't have much to do with your labour!

aussie enjoy your last day!

I'm not looking forward to this heatwave, I've been roasting the last couple of days and I don't have any summer trousers. I've been making do so I don't have to buy any but I wish I hadn't been so frugal and had splashed out on at least one pair. It's waaaaay to hot for jeans!

MW in 30 mins, hope she says something useful

LittleMissSnowShine · 09/07/2010 09:16

hey ladies!!

me and DH went out for dinner and to see Air play in Belfast last night - first time they've ever played here, all seated gig. Was an amazing performance and really fun to see so many people we knew. But esp good for me cos I just got my hair done yesterday, had spent a bit of time on my make up and was wearing high heels!!! Loads of people were coming up to me and telling me I was their style icon - 6 weeks til the baby will be here and I was out being a glamazon. If only they could see me in my usual crocs, jeans and over sized t shirt look

really not feeling motivated to get much done today but have to get at least another page of PhD thesis written and will prob have to spend some time bouncing on my gym ball because I'm pretty sure LO has now moved from transverse back into breech again. Good news for you tho Vix, hopefully my LO will follow your example

girlsyearapart - really sympathise with your MW situation!! also your story made me remember I had blood tests taken a month ago to see what my haemoglobin levels were like and i never got the results!!

mrazipan also have become a big Immac fan! Bought a can recently and it seems to work quite like spray paint, very easy to spray on and get it in the right direction. have to look in bathroom mirror while i'm doing it tho cos also can't see over bump and def do not trust DH not to mess it up!!

Morning

My money is on Blueberries being next (sorry Chulita!)

littlemiss i am hoping to see Razorlight on 23rd of July, but not holding my breath!

Went racing yesterday, was lovely, though i am now a bit sunburnt I was sat down on one of the stools around the parade ring, and my aunt had the one next to me (but was standing next to it, not sat on it at that exact moment) some woman said to me "Can you not move up one?" My reply? "No" Cheeky bitch even asked me why "Er, have you not noticed this enormous bump? I am 8mths pg" (didn't actually say that though) just gave her this look.

I find mornings so tiring at the moment. They used to be my best time.

Chulita · 09/07/2010 09:45

Well, I think dappiness must come with MW territory. She forgot to do a urine sample, then said she'd book me in for 41 weeks and talk about inducing even though I'd just reminded her that I wasn't going to be induced Then left without booking me in for another appointment at all. So...she did say that if I've been getting BH so regularly I could go soon but after a display like that I'm not sure I believe anything she says

littlemiss good for you! I'm never glamorous at the best of times so no hope at the moment!

alice your chat with the MW sounds really promising. I liked the suggestion to s&s so you don't go over, I can't get one here til over 41wks. My mw is based at a different hospital to the one I'm delivering at so it makes no difference what she agrees to, it doesn't mean a thing...

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 09/07/2010 10:19

I am going to look into it Chulita. DD was born only a day late (despite me going into labour on due date) so i feel this one will be the same. I don't know much about a s&s, so want to do a bit of research into it.

Chulita · 09/07/2010 12:16

I had 3 with DD but I was already in latent labour so I don't think they had any effect.

MW today also said that I shouldn't have anyone round after the baby so we'd have time to bond as a family... this was right after me telling her that DH wasn't allowed paternity leave. Right, so I have a baby, pack my mum off on a 6.5 hour journey home, and then get on with things while DH goes back to work the following morning...what kind of planet does she live on?! How on earth can you possibly 'bond' when DH is at work all day? What a loon!

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 09/07/2010 13:16

Hi Ladies,

We're now up and running to get on with ordering Caz and belle's rose.

The rose itself is £15 + £5.95 delivery. The rose people have suggested that the best thing to do regarding the pot, rose feed, etc... is to get National Gardening Vouchers so Caz can pick these up herself when the rose is delivered (which won't be until late Autumn ish). My thoughts would be that £50 would cover a lovely pot and any sundries and enable her and her DH to sit and have coffee and cake or whatnot at the gardening centre doing what might be quite an emotional task.

As I posted earlier, Caz would like the rest of the monies to go to SANDS, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

Thanks to MrsZac and Alice and Chulita for all the hard work helping to sort this out. I intend to have photos / scanned copies of the card, rose and reciepts for everything so that everyone can see where their money has gone. Could someone in the know please confirm how much money will be left to go to SANDS after the £70.95 has gone? (I rather shamefully haven't made my donation yet -- will get onto this later!).

So a few comments on the above figures would be helpful!

bouncingblueberries · 09/07/2010 13:32

Thanks so much pample, chulita, alice and MrsZac for sorting all that out and getting us organised. Think your plan sounds perfect pample

chulita your mw sounds like a total loon! I do think sometimes they just have a script in their head that they have to go through regardless of individual situations.

Chulita · 09/07/2010 13:35

We've got £213.96 donated - thank you to everyone, you've all been very generous That leaves us £143 that will go to SANDS once we've got the rose etc. I think the vouchers idea is a really good one, they'll be able to match the pot with the flower colour themselves. If someone knows of a place that does especially gorgeous pots though, let us know!

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 09/07/2010 14:03

Oh a couple of other things:

(1) Has anyone anything particular (words wise) they think should go in the card

(2) Who shall I sign the card from? Names or 'August 2010 ladies' or what?

(3) If noone has any ideas for (1) I'll just write it and include info re: the rose, purpose of the gardening vouchers, etc...

And Chulita I think one problem with us picking a pot is that it would inevitably get there a long time before the rose... and I didn't like the symbolism of the empty pot hanging around

Alicetheinvisible · 09/07/2010 14:04

Well done Chulita and Pample

That is a lot isn't it? hopefully it will go a little way to helping.

notonthehighstreet.com have some lovely and unusual things, seen some really nice planters on there.

Can i just say THANK GOD FOR ICE MAKER ON THE FRIDGE!!!!!!!! Lovely, lovely crushed ice.

mrsZaC · 09/07/2010 14:43

good plan pample There are some messages on the paypal donations that have been recieved I wonder if it is worth trying to collate these? I can try to compile this afternoon if you like?

just made the foolish attempt of trying to walk up buchanan st in Glasgow in my high heels on my lunch break, had to stop at H&M on the way back to pick up some flip flops!! just aswell I needed some for my hospital bag.

Must be a foolish day as I've just agreed to a viewing straight after work, not realising that it was for the one I currenly live in - argghhh! they will have to just accept the lived in look

No much of a chance to catch up today but have read everyones posts, sorry to hear about all the dafty midwifes!! littlemiss hurray on your glamazon status!

Chulita · 09/07/2010 14:51

Good point re the pot pample, unless we get it sent to you then sent on with the card once the rose has been delivered. Lots of arranging to do though so you're probably right about them choosing their own! Sorry, I don't think these things through very well!!

mrsZaC some people love the lived in look. The people who eventually bought my parents' house saw it while we were having a family bbq but the estate agent didn't give us enough warning Good luck!

OP posts:
mrsZaC · 09/07/2010 15:29

thanks chulita fingers toes, legs and arms crossed they like it!! x

pamplem0usse · 09/07/2010 15:31

mrsZaC would be super if you could collate the messages for me. If anyone wants to add a message please post and I shall ensure it's included.
And never mind about the viewing.... a bit of mess shouldn't make any difference
Chulita don't worry, I'd only thought about it because I'd had to

pamplem0usse · 09/07/2010 17:01

On the paypal account we have some initials for donations that we haven't been able to match to usernames (in some cases maybe it's because of maiden names / people using their DP's accounts).

If your initials are any of the following, you've made a donation and you want your username putting against it (we're obviously not stating amounts, just that people have contributed) please can you post back to say it's you!

Similarly, if you want to add a message post away; you don't need to have donated to do this - obviously we're not all in the financial position to contribute but I don't see why this should mean you can't express your feelings.

I'll be checking for messages/usernames until Tuesday (13th) night with the hope we can get things going on Wednesday.
