day 3 of the summer holidays and DS1 & 2 (6&7) are driving me mad - I am so upset as this is the first summer holidays that I have had off with them and I have ben lo0oking forward to it but thy just keep going OTT and arguing and making stupid noises and and and ...............arrrrrrrrrgggggg I just shouted so much I got (and I mean literally!) dots in front of my eyes - I hav low blood pressure so not sure if this is a good thing.

I am pissed off - its not like I m not doing things with them ;-(

ElusiveMoose · 28/07/2010 12:04

Sorry to hear that, isheisnthe. It's a funny situation, though - don't forget it's their first holiday with you as well, so they're probably just pushing their luck adapting to the new situation too. Plus you're 9 months pregnant, which is bound to make you generally less resilient/tolerant/energetic - and you know what kids are like, they can smell the tiniest sign of weakness, like hyenas . Are there any local holiday clubs or anything you could take them to? I only discovered recently that our council runs a FREE holiday club where they even look after your children for you if you want . DS not old enough for that yet, but the website is bookmarked in my favourites for when he's bigger . Hope it's at least nice enough weather where you are to run them around outside and tire them out a bit.

BB great to hear from you. Sounds like you've got such a positive attitude - I'm impressed! Do keep giving us updates when you can .

kcoffin you might already have a baby - how exciting!!

girlsyearapart · 28/07/2010 12:45

Afternoon all we are fine and doing ok. I am mix feeding Tilly as my M.S means it's too tiring for me to cope with all the feeding on my own.

I managed two wks ebf with dd1 which was a nightmare then about 5 days mix feeding with dd2 who was a good feeder but I had lost so much blood after her birth I felt like collapsing each time I fed.

This time I am determined to make more of a go of it so fingers crossed.

vita- with our dds 1 an 2 the key was organisation and routine I'm afraid.. we put their clothes out the night before, got them into same bedtime, naps at same time etc.

Right visitors so can't finish now.. more later.

Aussieng · 28/07/2010 12:58

Thanks for the suggestions. I now have spanking clean bathroom and kitchen floors! Also the MW just came and Jamie has only lost 2 oz of his birth weight (he as 6lb 8 oz) so is clearly doing well on breastmilk so I feel good and mum has been told to chill and he is clearly getting fed plenty. I nicely explained that I have looked into bf, know it is hard work and will tie me down more than bottles for a short while but I have prepared myself for this and don't mind the idea of being able to watch the entire 3 series of gossip girl over the next few weeks!

Thanks for those words of support blueberries - it does make a huge difference knowing that you are not the only one going through something/sat awake at night wondering what you could be doing better. I like the idea of us all checking up on everyone on our smartphones etc while doing the 3 am feeds Hope you and Glen (lovely name) are recovered soon.

LCRLCR - don't worry about Crowborough. The midwife only really called the Dr in my case as a second pair of eyes - I'm sure another MW would have done. And had the Dr not authorised the use of the prostaglandin (the mw insisted upon this because with me already being in labour she was concerned about hyperstimulation of the uterus) then my labour probably would have been 6 hours shorter!

Alice/Dogwalker - sorry you guys are down. Jamie came so quickly I never had the chance tobe impatient or get too upset (I was quite grumpy though) and I feel for you. Try to plan some stuff - it's guaranteed to get scuppered!

LittleMiss - enjoy the workshop

Dibby, I'm pretty sure my first sign of impending labour was constipation like feelings. Apparently I was not constipated but it definitely felt like this.

Hector - what a mindless, nobbish thing to do. No wonder you are unsettled and upset - that woul freak me out. I mean just who does things like that. I can't imagine the mentality of someone thinking this up and then actually taking the time to put it into action. I'll have a virtual coffe and carrot cake with you x

Kcoffin must be with her LO by now.

Sssssshhh everyone, my boy is asleep, finally...

LittleMissSnowShine · 28/07/2010 14:05

Hector - I feel your pain!! I live on a pretty nice little street, lots of different kinds of people from local punks to Korean families and older people. Usually a very mixed, laid back, friendly community. As I mentioned before, though, we also have a less than friendly local Belfast bonfire which makes the summer months less than pleasant, loads of drug taking teenagers and former paramilitary types hanging about, the occasional riot. Pain in the ass!! I love living round here and have been here for two years now and I know the area will all be back to normal in the next few weeks and the bonfire site has already all been cleared up but, like you, I'm feeling a lot more vulnerable than usual with the heavily pregnant thing. That and two of our neighbours got broken into during the afternoon a few weeks ago.

It feels horrible being nervous in your own home I'm sure it was just a random, opportunistic thing, idiots driving around who spotted a light on and an open window but take care of yourself and do anything you can to make yourself feel safer and less stressed.

Birth workshop was pretty good this morning - really considering trying out going for a water birth if all conditions seem favourable when labour kicks off. After cleaning and clearing out frenzy of last few days, taking it slightly easier and meeting up with some friends today. Want to get plenty of catching up done before motherhood takes over for next couple of months!!

neenz · 28/07/2010 16:00

Littlemiss - go for it, water is a great pain reliever.

Aussie - well done on the birth and the BFing. It is not easy when your mum isn't so supportive - you need as many people as poss to tell you you are doing great and everything you are experiencing is normal (we can do that for you here!).

GYA, hope the MS symptoms ease off and give you a break. Good luck with the BFing/

weehector - that sounds very traumatic, hope you are feeling ok

LCRLCR · 28/07/2010 17:03

Ah what japes on the nursing bra front today! Came home empty handed after M&S measured me as a 38C and Mothercare as a 32E! Thoroughly confused, Mothercare felt better but looked ludicrous...and this is from a girl who has blossomed in pregnancy from a boyish 30A to a womanly 36C. Reckon I'll try again next week at 38 weeks....

ElusiveMoose · 28/07/2010 18:14

LCR have you tried Bravissimo? They don't have the biggest range of maternity/nursing bras, but their fitters are usually really good.

Alicetheinvisible · 28/07/2010 18:20

I think they just cater to D and up though don't they? I personally had a bad experience in Bravissimo, but i seem to have been the only person i know who has.

I had a MrWippy ice cream today was yummy but when i went back to get a lemonade ice lolly he had gone i really wanted a lemonade ice lolly.

Chulita · 28/07/2010 18:30

Hello ladies!
Just letting you know I'm still thinking about you all

blueberries I've got thrush too and it's agony, I nearly gave up bfing yesterday but we're still going today. Samson latches on and off but the doctor said he couldn't see any thrush so it's just me on the meds - hope we don't give it to each other, it's horrendous! I think my milk's just come in, my boobs are like rocks and feel like they're going to explode...

Sorry not to respond to everyone, cooking tea at mo before little one wants another feed.

alice hope ice cream man hangs around a bit longer for you tomorrow!

myBabySweepstake · 28/07/2010 20:18

Hi Ladies,

Congrats to those of you whose babies have arrived and good luck to those of you who are still waiting.

I have 2 little girls, Emily 3 and Lucy 8 months. I also have a website, mybabysweepstake.com. I wote it when I was waiting for Emily - she was 12 days late. It allows you to set up a sweepstake on when your baby will arrive, how much it will weigh and whether it will be a boy or a girl. It also takes name suggestions from your betters if you want them!

Anyway, I just thought I'd tell you about it incase any of you would like to have a go.

The website is mybabysweeptake.

Thanks for your time,

Kerry

LittleMissSnowShine · 28/07/2010 21:51

This is non-baby and non-pregnancy related, so apologies in advance, but my cat has gone missing and I'm getting really upset about it!!

Me and DH only realised this evening that neither of us have seen him since first thing yesterday morning, because we have two and one of them is a real house cat and only goes out for an hour or two a day but the other is always out wandering, prowling around, hanging out with the neighbours etc.

But it's been 36 hours and the food levels would indicate he hasn't been back to eat and even though I was home all afternoon having tea with a friend he never showed up, even to get out of the rain.

I'm getting really worried about him now!!!

bouncingblueberries · 29/07/2010 00:15

chulita you both need to be treated otherwise you'll just keep passing it back and forth. It's a real bugger isn't it? Apparently drinking about 4 cups of green tea a day can help get rid of it and I'm also taking acidophilus capsules to up my friendly bacteria levels. Please make sure you go back and get some daktarin gel for your little one - he more than likely has thrush too, whether he's showing symptoms or not. The kellymom website has lots of good info.

Aussieng · 29/07/2010 03:09

3 am feeds - lovely. Littlemiss - I totally understand how worried you are. My cat has occasionally done this, but not often enough that I ever get comfortable with it. Let us know if he turns up soon.

Alicetheinvisible · 29/07/2010 08:33

Morning

So nice to hear from you ladies who have had your babies and doing so well

LittleMiss hope your cat comes back ok. Our cat is a bit odd, but luckily not very brave so doesn't go further than the garden, although it can hide pretty well

So i have 11 days left til due date. Every night/every other night or so i wake up with a solid bump that is funny shaped and putting a lot of pressure under my ribs. The next morning the baby's legs are on a different side to what they were the day before. How has it still got room?

weehector · 29/07/2010 08:34

Morning ladies

Thanks for being supportive - I've now had a sleep plus a rant & a cry with DH & the world doesn't seem such a bad place this morning. And, having spent a day obsessing with how unfair & mindless people can be, I'm now a day closer to having this baby (160 hrs, or 159hrs & 56 mins if you want to be pedantic! until EDD).

LCR Another vote for Bravissimo here - I have 3 deeply grannyish but comfortable Royce maternity & nursing bras that I got there. I'm waiting on another one coming from them that has some super duper silver thread through the space age fabric that should help sooth my gigantic 34J boobies whilst feeding.

Alice You need one of these www.zokuhome.co.uk You can spin the bottle to win one on the Dorset Cereals website just now

Littlemiss That's rubbish re your kitty. Bet he rocks up without a care in the world looking for his breakfast this morning though.

Aussie Blueberries Chulita gya - keep up the good work ladies, for me, it feels a bit weird that you're on the other side now with a whole new set of aches, logistics & worries (oh and joyful experiences!...those 3 words sound negative).Still can't believe I'll be joining you soon - obviously in exactly 159 hrs. I was at the maternity hospital last night for my final HypnoBirthing session and there was a proud daddy in the foyer with a tiny little thing just out the hatch..even though it made my heart melt, I can't quite get my head round the fact that that I'm literally days away from being a mummy.

Today, in Weehectorland, I will:

  • order the tumble dryer
  • empty the ironing basket
  • change the beds
  • clean the bathrooms
  • bake for visitors coming over the next few days
  • gloss the skirting boards in 2 bathrooms?
  • clean 3 kitchen cupboards
  • do my tax return
  • be nice to my DH (who doesn't know whether he's coming or going with me just now) & have a delicious supper on the table when he comes in at 9pm tonight

We'll see...

Hope to hear of more babies - kcoffin ...ScoobyDoo? - and happenings today. Cazzy Are you listening? My timeline radar has you on high alert.

cazzybabs · 29/07/2010 08:43

lITTLEMISS hope the cat is OK. Our boy cat does this for several days at a time....but equally it could be a sign of bad news...fingers crossed he is OK!

OH god i don't know how I thought I cope with 4 children...dh doesn't seem to be speaking to me, my children are being so rude to me and horrid to each other....

cazzybabs · 29/07/2010 09:08

WEEHECTOR - BTW your to do list is making me feel quite tired..

mine is cycle girls to tennis, go to the library with dd3, pick up girls from tennis, drop friends children back, take dd1 and 2 to play a friends, either come home and be tired or go to the park with dd3. Pick up girls, cook supper, sleep!

Don't pin your hopes on my being next - my due date is actually tomorrow (so wrong on the list)...and I go over due! My statergy of avoiding the midwife means I can avoid a hospital appointment tomorrow and a cs... 'cuz I am so not ready to have a baby

STAR - what did the midwife say?

starshaker · 29/07/2010 10:09

Had internet problems yesterday so couldnt get on. Typical the day that it wouldnt have been a full on mission to go to the hospital and my blood pressure was fine (a connection maybe?) and there was no protein so i didnt have to go up. She does think that emily is now head down again but im not convinced, will find out on monday i suppose. Is it bad that i want her to still be breech so i can have the section? My logic is i dont want an epidural if i go naturally and everybody says i will have to have 1. So if im getting the epidural i would rather they just did a section then i have some sort of control.

Nikalah · 29/07/2010 10:13

weehector that's awful, it's the sort of thing that would really frighten/ bloody annoy me. But as the others said - probaby just a couple of young muppets attracted to an open window and a light on. Did you let the police know?

I feel SHITE. I've got weird pains in one leg and am sleeping dreadfully. Baby due on Sunday but is showing NO signs whatsoever of even thinking of leaving. I'm drinking double dose raspberry teas and am going to track down a reflexologist today and get a pedicure and hopefully finish moving house (again)!.... but first a bath! Sorry rant over!

Alicetheinvisible · 29/07/2010 10:33

Star i am starting to have a bit of a wobble over my vbac. Not helped by watching someone on Discovery home and health having a baby. If i was having a section it would be next week too.

Nikalah not long

neenz · 29/07/2010 13:13

Nik, feeling shite is a good sign! It can mean you are getting ready for labour.

Star, if both babies are head down I would go for vaginal delivery - you do not need to have an epidural, I didn't. It is bollox for them to say that. Having a section is fine too but if you gave birth to your DD vaginally then you should be fine this time if both babies are in good position. My labour was only 10hrs and I was first timer. I only had gas and air. A section is a big op to get over with twins and another LO to look after when you are on your own too.

Littlemiss, I hope the cat turns up soon - you don't need that worry do you .

First day of mat leave here and I am going to Waitrose this aft for the ingredients for choc chip biscuits. I told DH last time I was on mat leave I would bake cakes etc and never did (had unrealistic expectations of what looking after newborn twins would be like ) so I am going to surprise him tonight with some nice biscuits.

thedogwalker · 29/07/2010 14:23

Hello All

Littlemiss, I hope your cat turns up soon.

Weehector Your list is putting me to shame. I've not planned anything to do today, even though I've got the guest bedroom to get ready for the arrival of my Mum.

Had another Scan today. I am 37+4 and my German doctor, told me that my amniotic fluid has dropped, more baby than fluid and so in his opinion, he doesn't think it will be much longer before my LO's arrival. I do hope he's right The LO is in the correct position, so all systems go. He weighs 6.2 lbs, well that's their guess, so I'm hoping he won't be much bigger by the time he arrives.

Got my first acupuncture appointment on Tuesday, it is a complimentary pain relief option given over here and I will try anything before having the drugs, as they don't do gas and air over here .

Oh Neenz pass around those cookies when you finish, some home baking sounds delish!!!

Hope everyone is haivng a good day. Take care xxx

NichyNoo · 29/07/2010 16:06

Hey thedogwalker - I feel your pain as I'm in Belgium and no gas and air here either.....it is epidural or nothing

Am now seriously wanting this baby out (although not due until 7 Aug). All the ladies from my antenatal class seem to be popping and having wonderful births.....most recent one was 2 hours from start to finish (first baby) with no pain relief as apparently "it didn't hurt". Am worried that I will get all the bad luck

Also feeling worried constantly as baby is slowing down in his movements and is big.....

Anyway - enough moaning! weehector I like your to-do list. I have been manic since going on maternity leave and cleaned and organised the flat to within an inch of its life

Alicetheinvisible · 29/07/2010 16:15

Am i the only one who hasn't been nesting? Last time i scrubbed my horses stables out

I can't imagine not being allowed any pain relief til an epidural i swear i would be necking some gin or something!
