Hello!

Congrats to all the new little ones, I've skim read through bleary eyes but forgive me for not commenting on everything. aussie blueberries and gya well done!

emster glad you got your little boy sorted out, must have been scary for you!

I think I've had the crappy birth so you're all in the clear to continue the positive/quick labour stories.

I phoned the labour ward early Friday morning to say I was having ctx about 3.5 mins apart lasting an avg of 45 secs and she said since it was my 2nd and a vbac I should go in. Got in at 6am and was told I was 2cm. They didn't send me home because they thought it would happen quite quickly...10am I was 3cm, 12:30 I was 4cm, 4pm I was 6-7, midnight I was 8-9cm I'd opted for an epidural at 4pm cos I thought I was going to die from how much the fricking things hurt (I'd fully dilated with no pain relief with dd but these were a whole different thing!) The epidural only worked for about 3 hours and then stopped but I couldn't move my legs so was stuck in agony not being able to do a thing except groan. I was desperate to have a vbac though so agreed to keep trying, only when at midnight the doctor came in and said that Sam was back to back and wedged at an angle so no matter how long I tried he was never going to come out...[sigh] I agreed a cs was an inevitability So he was ripped out at 0126 on Saturday and is doing fine. I'm gutted to have had another cs despite doing all the OFP and trying as long as I could. Now I'm just trying to get my head around looking after a toddler when I can't pick her up or run after her.
Never mind eh! Hope you all have lovely natural births! I'll try not to post anything til I'm feeling a bit more positive about the whole thing

Sorry Chulita!! That doesn't sound like the easiest experience to go through but at least the baby is doing well and there weren't any further complications.

Really hope your OH/family/friends are able to rally round and give you a hand so you can recuperate from the c-section properly and before you know it you'll be back on your feet and with two DCs to look after

Dibbydab · 26/07/2010 17:12

Pamplem0usse good luck with your scan tomorrow - it'll be nice for you to see little one again after your nasty experience last week. Hope you're feeling better in yourself now, let us know how it goes.

Oh Chulita, what a time you had of it, I'm sorry it wasn't the experience you wanted despite everything you did but your little Sam made a safe if dramatic entrance to this world! Enjoy your baby snuggles .

LizzieA · 26/07/2010 19:04

Chulita, sorry you had a shit time but keep on posting even if it is to have a moan. As a first timer I need the scary stories as well as the good ones or else I think I might be in for a shock if my labour is not controlled by half a paracetamol and some positive thinking

I'm 37+1 now and nesting with a vengeance. I cleaned the bathroom today to within an inch of its life and have plans for the kitchen tomorrow. I've decided that I just need one more week of getting the house sorted and my little man can appear, sods law that he'll be here this week just to ruin my plans! DP is on nights this week but he only works 20 mins away so can be home pretty quick if I need him, I'd still rather he was on days though.

First timer question alert - What do BH feel like? I get times where my bump is harder but I wouldn't say it's painful in any way , just feels a bit tight. Can you get all the way to giving birth without having any BH?

LittleMissSnowShine · 26/07/2010 20:26

LizzieA - I'm a lazy cow when it comes to housework and I'm finding moving about less than fun at the min, but I also found myself doing loads of washing over past couple of days, clearing out kitchen cupboards and listing a few bits and pieces up on gumtree. Must be nesting as well!

BH feel like a belt being tightened around your midriff/bump area. Sometimes they can be painful but most of the time they aren't, it's just an awareness of the muscles all going tight. I find walking around a lot, standing cooking dinner or going up and down the stairs a few times etc can bring them on. At my parentcraft class the other night one of the other girls asked the midwife was it normal not to be having BH cos she was 35 weeks and hadn't had any. MW said not everyone gets them and since they're not always very painful/intense it's possible to have them without really noticing.

But I'm a first timer too!! So there's prob many other ladies with more info out there for you

ElusiveMoose · 26/07/2010 20:31

Oh, Chulita, I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling down about the birth. It must be so disappointing to end up with a section when you were really hoping for a natural birth, and of course when you'd already put in all that effort - but do please try to put it behind you - in the end it really doesn't matter how your baby arrived, as long as he's here and safe. Sorry, I really hope you don't mind me saying that - I'm not trying to play down how you feel - but it would be sad to let it mar your first few precious days and weeks with your lovely baby. Plus, if I've got my maths right, then you're currently 3 days after the birth - exactly when your hormones go crazy and you spend all your time feeling down and crying... Poor you. And please please keep coming on and talking to us - it might help you to vent, even if we can't do that much to help... Sending you lots of hugs xx.

vitapulchra · 26/07/2010 20:36

LizzieA and LMSS--I've had 3 dc's so far and never had a BH, and none so far this time, either.

Chulita Sorry about what a hard time you had. It's one thing to have a cs and another altogether to try for so long and so hard to avoid one, and then have to have one. I really hope your recovery will be as swift as it possibly can be.

Alicetheinvisible · 26/07/2010 20:39

Evening

Chulita sorry to hear you didn't get your vbac, hopefully you will recover better this time around. Congratulations on little Sam though

I went for reflexology and a pedicure this afternoon. Nearly two hours of pampering = absolute bliss! So maybe it will help kickstart things or maybe not, but i now have beautiful feet with bright pink toenails and it eased the swelling in my ankles. Going to book another appointment for my due date if baby not here by then.

Just had a really yummy curry from Waitrose, but now will not dare to lie down before midnight or heartburn will kill me!

DH may get some later if he is lucky too

ElusiveMoose · 26/07/2010 21:53

I must be one of the only people on here praying that this baby doesn't come too soon . Today I came home from carpet/paint shopping with DH to find that the plumbers had had to take up my entire landing floor in an attempt to locate some pipes. They still haven't found them, so tomorrow they're going to have to take up my bedroom floor as well. Oh, and the boiler is in but not yet functional. So if this baby comes tonight then it will be seriously inconvenient . Hopefully after tomorrow things will calm down a bit, though we still have a window and a bathroom to go in. Maybe two weeks late again wouldn't be such a bad thing .

On the plus side, the quote we got for carpets was much cheaper than I expected.

Re BHs, I think I do get them, but they never cause me any pain. I am starting to get a little bit of backache now, but no real signs that anything is imminent. Got a MW appointment tomorrow, which will be nice, as with everything else going on, I don't really feel I've given the new baby much thought recently.

cazzybabs · 26/07/2010 22:25

ElusiveMoose - no no I am with you...I don't want this baby to come yet.

Too many things to go yet plus my mum snd dad are away till Friday..

counting on another 2 weeks at least

USMum27 · 27/07/2010 00:45

Chulita sorry that the birth didn't go as planned but many, many congratulations on your little one. Just remember the birth was just one day and at the end of it you got a happy, healthy little boy - don't worry about the rest of it! And please feel free to come on and moan; the rest of us certainly do enough moaning

Elusive, Cazzy I cannot believe you guys can wait any longer! I'm desperate for this bit to end. Although the house is a complete tip and it wouldn't hurt if I had another couple of weeks to sort it all out....

pamplem0usse · 27/07/2010 05:57

Dibby thanks so much for rmembering my scan.... I'm keeping everything ctrossed as I definitely don't have gestational diabetes.
Sorry about the quietness, crazy few days....
Will report back later; and congratulations on all the new babies!!!

Alicetheinvisible · 27/07/2010 08:41

Good luck today Pample i'm sure all will be fine.

Elusive and Cazzy i have been feeling like that, but as our kitchen is having work done as of tomorrow, would be quite handy to have a little stay in hospital til friday away from the chaos!

Thought things may have been starting again last night, some real sharp pains and strong BH (took my breath away) but nope. Got backache this morning though. I swear i have had so many 'Is this it' moments, i will need to be pushing before i take it seriously (not likely, i am a complete wimp!)

ElusiveMoose · 27/07/2010 08:53

Alice, good point - if it weren't for my toddler at home, then a 10 day hospital stay, like our mums' generation used to get, would be pretty lovely right now .

Joey30 · 27/07/2010 09:09

Wow Congratulations on all the new babies! Some lovely names too- I have only got one name so need a back up!

Finished work on Friday and got some lovely pressies and my desk decorated with lots of blue ballons! Felt v strange to be leaving but now at least I can rest my fat feet and ankles!

Hope everythings ok today pample and Im with cazzy- defo need a few more weeks!

peanutpie · 27/07/2010 09:30

Good morning.
Congratulations to those who have had their babies!

I've got my due date coming up on Sunday. I feel pretty keen to get this baby out depending on how well I feel. If I feel physically well I'm OK. On bad days I want it out now! My first child arrived at roughly this time and I feel a bit anxious that it should be here now otherwise I'll definitely end up being induced at 42 weeks or something. As if it is going to be all or nothing!

I'm having horrid problems as the baby heads bobs in and out of being engaged. I get really painful shooting nerve pains - apparently something called pelvic engorgement (nice!). Also I've had two episodes of weeing myself which the midwife thinks is when the babies head pops high again. The first time this happened I thought (gleefully!) my waters had gone and it was a major blow to find out that I'd just wet myself. I had none of this the first time!

There is nothing glamorous about late pregnancy........and I've got thrush and pregnancy nausea. moan moan moan

foxyjbro99 · 27/07/2010 10:12

peanutpie i know how you feel! i haven't wet myself (yet) but I think there must be a constant trickle (sorry if tmi!!) cos my pants always seem damp despite wearing a pad . I didn't experience this with my other 2, not without sneezing anyhow! !!

i'm due 29/8, so am wondering if lo will arrive on time or late & be in a different school year! very mixed feelings about whether i want youngest in year or oldest in year!!

Yesterday I sorted out some stuff that was in the loft & today I'm washing all of the neutral stuff. was very excited to find a pack of unopened vests in first size!! think it's the only BN thing this baby is getting, although will have to buy lots of blue if it turns out to be a boy as last 2 were girls, so everything is pink!

peanutpie · 27/07/2010 10:18

foxy Thanks for sharing your wee problems, don't feel so odd now! I know what you mean about the school year thing. I won't get there but I think it would certainly be in my mind if my due date was end of August.

Nice to find a few new things for your lo. I was amazed by how much stuff we had when I got it all out. I thought we had borrowed lots of clothes but I actually had two bin liners of stuff.

girlsyearapart · 27/07/2010 10:34

morning all.

Hope you are all ok.

Who ever it was who asked how old my girls are? they will be 2 and 3 in september so for next 7 ish weeks we have 3 under 3

Glad I had another girl as was a bit wary about how you look after a boy!!
So convinced it was a boy though she hasn't worn anything pink yet all the sorted stuff is neutral.

Sorry you had a rough time chulita, I could have kissed the doctor who finally got the placenta out and kept me from having theatre and spinal block.

anyway must go do something constructive.

LittleMissSnowShine · 27/07/2010 13:32

Anyone been down to the Asda baby sale? Got some real bargains there this morning! Was turning into something of a scrum whenever we were leaving tho lol

Thinking of doing some baking this afternoon cos I have a friend calling round for coffee this evening and I figure being out in the kitchen anyway will give me the motivation to go through and clear out another cupboard. Our house is small (but perfectly formed ha!) so clearing out cupboards and freeing up some space seems to make a huge difference as to whether we will be living in the middle of a heap of baby baths/buggy/toys etc or whether we'll be able to preserve a few shreds of sanity by having somewhere to put all the stuff when we clean up!

I'm kind of agreeing with Elusive and Cazzy since I still feel like there's plenty I need to do before LO arrives but late pregnancy seems to make getting anything accomplished a lot more tricky than anticipated so I'm ready to just hold my hands up and surrender! Going to try munching on some pineapple for lunch

neenz · 27/07/2010 14:05

Chulita, so sorry the birth didn't go as planned. I can understand totally how much you wanted your VBAC. But back to back is a killer - so you did a great job to go as long as you did so you should be proud of yourself. Your DH said he was so proud of you too, what a sweetie .

MW this aft. I'm going to walk in (1.5mile) which I haven't done for ages (pram is a bit heavy with two 2yos in it!) but feeling pretty energetic today.

sparkle101 · 27/07/2010 14:27

Wow, havn't been on for a few days and lots of abies come along - many many congrats to blueberries and GYA

Have been to hospital today for a check up and they confirmed baby still breech (has been for last seven weeks), they've been talking about turning it or csec..... just wondering if any of you had experienced turning or whether baby will just turn on it's own or whether the csec was the way to go? Am 35+1 at moment.

Jaysfourth · 27/07/2010 14:37

girls, i have boys that are less (by a week) than a yr old...and a girl who is only 14 mths older than my eldest boy. i love saying i have three,4,3 and 2. and when this one comes (24th Aug) i shall have 4 under five....and none at school yet!

who else has developed the waddle...i look so attractive when walking along!!

starshaker · 27/07/2010 15:07

jays yeah i have. Sometimes i think i should quack when i walk

pamplem0usse · 27/07/2010 15:53

Back from hospital!

Basically the fluid levels are just the same... no better, no worse. So they did lots of monitoring the baby, who seems perfectly happy, and I have another appointment for a scan booked for two weeks time. Assuming baby hangs on in there that long.... Sounds quite likely the consultant will decide to induce then. TBH that would be a bit of a relief. Apparently my fundal height is now 41 due to excess waters and I'm really struggling to keep anything down food wise because it's so cramped in there!

Will read everyone else's posts properly later... sorry I've been a bit neglectful! Wonderful DH has booked me in for a pedicure tonight so that will be lovely! xxx
