Congrats GYA, well done and lovely name.

Bubbabear · 26/07/2010 09:21

Congrats to all the new mums, this is all soooo exciting!!!! I too am getting pretty of everyone meeting their little ones & most people having seemingly quick & straightforward births! However, I'm a first timer & that's usually longer isn't it? Although potentially it could take DP 5/6 hours to get here if he's up in Wales like normal so maybe not too swift is good in that respect!

Am 36 + 4 & very uncomfortable now. Have Docs this pm so hopefully bubs isn't being a lil monkey anymore & has stayed head down. He's been playing the midwife & doc off against each other the last 3 appointments as first he was head down for the midwife, then transverse for the doc & then head down for the following midwife app!

On one hand just want my lil baby here but don't feel quite ready as having big house sort/clear up/clean this week plus DP is 4000ft or so up a mountain in Switzerland at the mo & not back in the country until next week & they'd have to helicopter him back if things kicked off this week. Would be a pretty exciting story tho I guess! Lol

Good luck to anyone else getting things going in the next few days, do find myself wondering throughout the day if anybody is close to meeting their LOs

Hope everyone has a lovely day, so nice to be able to read & post during the day now too!

Alicetheinvisible · 26/07/2010 09:32

Bubba did you read the thread in the winter where the woman was snowed in and they had to get highland rescue to get the mw to her as she was in labour? I think it even made the news!

I have just booked a pedicure and reflexology for this afternoon

foxyjbro99 · 26/07/2010 09:49

Congratulations GYA! I take is by your name this is your 3rd girl? How old are the other 2?
Love the name!
I've still got 5 weeks to go, so very of you all! Although still lots of work to do on house before LO makes its appearance!

kcoffin27 · 26/07/2010 10:10

Congratulations bbb and girlsyearapart my due date buddie, im slightly however baby Ruby will be here sometime on wednesday im getting really nervous of having the section though, even though I have had 2 already im actually quite scared

hope everyone else is doing ok

Alicetheinvisible · 26/07/2010 10:18

KC it will all be fine, calm, controlled and safe. You can be prepared and know exactly what is going on. Does that help at all?

I am starting to wonder why i am going for a vbac

Pouring milk again this morning

marzipananimal · 26/07/2010 10:20

congratulation bouncing and girls, what quick births!
Good luck for weds kcoffin, how amazing to know you'll meet your LO so soon!

kcoffin27 · 26/07/2010 10:26

alice yes thanks it helps, im just a big old wimp and scared of the pain all worth it though. The vbac will be fine too im sure, my sil had a vbac not long ago. Do they let you change your mind if you want to though?
marzipananimal yeah it is good to know what day shes coming as have been able to sort out childcare.

tah2 · 26/07/2010 10:40

congratulations gya I hav got 2 girls as well - wonder if we will both end up with 3?

Not long now KC Try to think past the section to the hours and days afer where you'll be cuddling your gorgeous new baby - much nicer to focus on that rather than the section

CoronaAndLime · 26/07/2010 10:54

Congratulations to all Mums with new babies!

I did join this group months ago but have been lurking rather than posting (sounds dodgy )

Getting near the end now, I'm due on the 2nd Aug, but really thought I'd have had her by now as my first 2 were a little early so am not used to waiting.

I keep reading about reflexology on here and might give that a go this week. Its got to be better than eating 5 pineapples!

isheisnthe · 26/07/2010 11:12

Is anyone else having horrifc trouble sleeping - I wake up at about 1.30/2ish and then thats it - I try togo ack to sleep but I am busy worrying about things that don't even matter - not even related to the baby! Mostly money, which isn't an issue (thank heavens) but DH is trying to get us to buy a new house that is ever so slighty over our budget - I am usually a take a risk person but its worrying me tremendously :-(

I was up watching crap on TV until 5.45 - and now I have the first day of the summer holidays with a 6 & 7 year old to contend with.

We are goin tadpole fishing - as you do.....

vix206 · 26/07/2010 11:35

Congrats to all the new mummies and babies - so exciting! I've just popped on to reply to isheisnthe and say Oh God YES. I have not slept properly since 20 weeks. My average night is as follows:

10.30pm - Go to bed
11.30pm - still awake - get up go for a wee
1-1.30 am - wake up go for a wee. Lie awake for half an hour.
3.30 am - get up go for a wee. Usually go straight back to sleep.
5.30am - hip pain and leg cramps wake me up, get up go for a wee. Lay wake for what seems like an eternity (probably 1.5 hours)
7.30 am - alarm wakes me up - time to get up for work. Feel like someone has driven over my head.

I have honestly forgotten what good sleep is like, so you have my total sympathy!

NichyNoo · 26/07/2010 11:45

Congrats to the new mums!!! Great news!!!

Nothing happening with me.....baby feels well and truly comfortable in there and making no signs of exiting

No twinges, no contractions, no leaking milks...nada! On the plus side I've been making the most of my first week of maternity leave by completely cleaning the house, filing admin etc.

Hoping something happens soon as this baby is a big one and don't want him to grow too much in there

USMum27 · 26/07/2010 12:17

Congratulations!! So many babies! Well done ladies, I'm very impressed with all the quick and dramatic birth stories , although very that I am only 36+3 and have ages to wait for the little one.

It looks like I may be joining some of you for the night shift as heartburn and a complete inability to sleep is keeping me up all night. Have I mentioned how unhelpful it is for my MIL and mother to continually say that I should be sleeping beautifully now because who knows when I'll get a full nights sleep when the baby comes?!? Not helpful!

Hope everyone else is doing well and all these pregnancy niggles are calming down. Will stop moaning and try and do something productive today

cazzybabs · 26/07/2010 12:54

I seem to wake up about 9pm...have lots of energy and then can't sleep which is strange because before I was up early and to bed early...

today I have washed the baby clothes and sorted out dd3's clothes...

now just to tackle my chest of drawers which is over flowing.

nesting????

isheisnthe · 26/07/2010 13:05

thanks for the sympathy vix - I changed the pattern a little last night when I had an argument with DH - well - more an exchage of insults as I had "slammed" myself on the bed deliberatly to wake him up

Dibbydab · 26/07/2010 13:30

Ah yes I love the advice of "rest now, you won't be able to when the baby arrives" - is this the "resting" that involves heartburn, leg cramps, hip pain, insomnia, feeling terrified worrying about the birth?

Telling a 39 week pregnant woman to "rest" is like expecting someone with vertigo to do a bungee jump!

Poncherello · 26/07/2010 13:32

Congratulations on all the new babies! Gorgeous names and such encouraging birth stories!

I am also getting as have 4 weeks to go too (but plenty of time to crack on with clearing out all the cupboards).

Alice am with you on the VBAC vs elective ... still, worth a try at least? and the pouring milk, my God when I got up to go to the loo (twice) last night I could feel it flying out might have to start wearing pads in bed ...

USMum27 also suffering with heartburn, have bought fourth Gaviscon bottle in as many weeks it seems, went for the larger bottle this time.

weehector I'm a suit too! working in branding design which I love, been freelancing for the past year or so - no idea what will happen on the return to work but can talk about that another time!

Happy Monday everyone xx

Alicetheinvisible · 26/07/2010 13:34

I actually found that by the time DD was 10 days old i was sleeping much better than i was in late pg, all so different this time though....

Cazzy about time!

The last couple of days i have felt there is not a hope in hell of this baby coming til it's section, but today i feel really calm and ready iyswim? Very odd.

USMum27 · 26/07/2010 13:56

Cazzy you must be next - sounds like serious nesting going on!

babyducky · 26/07/2010 14:34

Afternoon all

Congrats GYA, love the name too, & I agree there are some very positive birth stories, hope mine is the same!

I feel ready for the baby to come now, I've done all my nesting, fed up of waiting, & I'm only 37 weeks!!
I'm not sleeping well either, keep waking up with either leg cramps or heartburn or BH. GRRRRR!

I was thinking about booking some reflexology after reading about it on here, then on the way to the shops a woman stopped me & gave me a card & asked me if I'd be interested in it, she comes to your home & does it, so I might ring her, spooky though, as I normally ignore people giving out cards in the street

Hope everyone is ok, looking forward to seeing pics of all the new babies

neenz · 26/07/2010 14:52

Congrats GYA! How exciting and a lovely quick birth. Hope mine is the same, it was only 10hrs last time so should be less - 7mins pushing would be great.

First-timers, sometimes first births are quick too (bith my SILs were about 4hrs) and my sis didn't need any stitches for her first either so it can be done although it is more common for the first time to be long-ish.

I am beginning to feel very impatient. 37+3 so probably have ages to go yet

Vix, sorry you can't sleep, that must be really tough with your work situation too.

summerymummy · 26/07/2010 15:05

Hello ladies, 7 days til my due date also and no sign of this one being ready to exit Wouldn't mind if it wasn't so uncomfortable especially at night when trying to get to sleep! Been watching lots of brilliant home birth stories on www.mybirth.tv, great site - everyone should check it out, it almost makes me look forward to the birth! Birth pool has arrived and DH has stocked up on plastic sheets and lots and lots of towels, so everything is ready to go.... still reckon it'll be at least another 2 weeks before this baby shifts tho Good luck to everyone else who is about to pop - at least the weather this week is looking a bit cooler than last week!

vitapulchra · 26/07/2010 16:47

Congratulations GYA and Blueberries!! So happy all went well for you and love the names you've both chosen. Well done, ladies!

LittleMissSnowShine · 26/07/2010 16:49

Congrats all ladies who've just become mums!! Wow!! So delighted for all of you

And commiserations to everyone (like me!) still stuck in the waddling, too warm, stretch marked, swollen feet/ankles/hands waiting room.

Not much to update on for me - LO is def no longer breech, head has started to engage but still got a bit to go and my friend who is an obstetrician managed to sneak me in for a scan and she thinks it might be a boy!! But LO wasn't being very obliging so hard to know for sure...

Still meant to have 5 weeks to go but i'm still measuring ahead and having BHs most days so i've been slurping down the raspberry leaf tea, enjoying some spicy food, insisting OH has sex with me and, despite the feeling that my feet are huge and sore and my pelvis feels very stiff when i stand up and i need to wee every 5 minutes, i've also been forcing myself out for a half hour walk every day. getting very impatient now, so sleepy and hot and bothered!!

thank god for box sets (on season 3 of nip/tuck at the min!), magazines and mini magnums being half price in tesco at the minute

now, i wonder who's going to be next to pop?? woo hoo!!
