congrats blueberries!

thedogwalker · 25/07/2010 15:50

Congratulations Blueberries Glad all went well.

So who's next?????

neenz · 25/07/2010 16:26

Congrats Blueberries! What's the name of that reflexologist? Another boy, how wonderful.

Cazzy, I bet if you sat down and counted the movements you'd be surprised just how many there are! Sometimes it seems like I haven't felt anything all day and then I sit down and concentrate and there are loads (most active in evening after dinner ). When I did it just before I only had about 10 in an hour but it is more active in evening.

Star, fingers crossed they come soon - I remember 36wks well (nightmare) - mine came at 36+5 (had my waters broken to induce labour). I was a bit itchy and they tested my liver and found bile acids raised - I wasn't even that itchy so if you are a little itchy tell your MW and hopefully they'll find a reason to give you that section sooner!

chickieno1 · 25/07/2010 16:34

congrats blueberries

LizzieA · 25/07/2010 17:02

Congratulations Blueberries

I can't wait to hear the full story, blue lights and sirens oooooh!

Nikalah · 25/07/2010 18:02

Congratulations Aussie Chulita and BBB

So excited for you all hope I'm not waiting around too long, nothing yet and had a bit of a scare at the Midwifes on Friday but after another scan and some monitoring all well.

Kcoffin My movements have def slowed down - one of the reasons I went to the hosp for some monitoring.

Acupunture tomorrow, but am going to find a reflexologist too as reeally fancy something quite relaxing.

Good luck all & keep those babies coming!

weehector · 25/07/2010 18:51

blueberries Good God, that was quick. Obviously quite dramatic but I'm hoping swift also means not too arduous for you and little Glenn. Congratulations to the blueberry family...it makes me feel all warm & happy to hear about all these big brothers & sisters adoring their new siblings.

So ladies, I believe we have a vacancy for our next candidate. We don't even have anyone on the starting blocks really at the moment, do we? Anyone got a funny feeling that they might be visiting the midwifery suite in the next 24hrs?

Alicetheinvisible · 25/07/2010 19:02

I don't think this baby is coming before my booked section on the 19th (10days over) feel too comfortable. With DD i was so ready by this stage, couldn't eat anything without dreadful heartburn, trouble sleeping every night etc. Apart from the odd night of no sleep i am ok. It is very strange

bouncingblueberries · 25/07/2010 19:55

Thanks ladies!

Well, after my waters went at about 7.45pm we eventually headed in to be monitored at about 10pm-ish. I'd been bouncing on my birth ball since waters went and had been having some mildish contractions.

After 2 hours of faffing about on labour ward being monitored they finally let us go home. Midwife wasn't at all convinced I was anywhere near labour as she couldn't see my cervix

Waiting for the taxi to take us home started having bigger contractions about 2 minutes apart, go in taxi and almost asked the driver to turn around as the contractions were getting quite strong. Made it home, started running a bath and had 2 doozer contractions in quick succession. Knew things were progressing quite quickly and I needed to get on all fours with my bum in the air!

dh and my mum started timing the contractions and before long decided I should head back to hospital - contractions were about 2 minutes apart and I was starting to moo. Phoned our neighbour who came over to drive us back to hospital (was about 1am by this point I think) but dh changed his mind and called an ambulance instead - he knew there was no getting me off my hands and knees without entonox! Ambulance arrived pretty swiftly, thankfully as by then I was getting tremendous pressure in my bum. Not an urge to push, but knew the baby was starting to move down the birth canal (either that or I was seriously constipated ). Lovely paramedics arrived, stole my dignity in front of my poor mum to check baby's head wasn't crowning and gave me some beloved entonox.

Into the ambulance, blue lights, arrived at labour ward, and after a tussle between the midwives and paramedics was popped into a delivery suite. Was trying very, very hard not to push at this stage. Managed to get up on the bed on all fours and growled quite visciously at the midwife when she asked me to lie on my back. There was no way in hell anyone was getting me off my hands and knees. dh whipped off my knickers and midwife got shock of her life to see head almost crowning. A couple of pushes later and Glenn announced his arrival! Not a tear or a graze thankfully, despite the speed so no stitches! Hurrah! Bloody sore coccyx though...

Totally knackered now and the wee man is starting to stir so better dash!

babyducky · 25/07/2010 20:42

aw congratulations blueberries x

Alicetheinvisible · 25/07/2010 21:10

That sound fab Blueberries, a bit of a shock perhaps Looking forward to photos

CellyD · 25/07/2010 21:19

Congratulations blueberries!

girlsyearapart · 25/07/2010 21:26

soooo.. who would like some pink?

Baby Tilly (Matilda Queenie(after my late aunt))

was born at 11.05 am today weighing 8lb10.

Waters broke at 6am then ctx started mildly at 7ish waters properly broke mum came for kids around 730 got to hospital 8ish and after admission to antenatal examined and was 6cm.

Baby born with gas and air in 7 mins of pushing then a whole hour for placenta to come out with doctors assistance narrowly avoided theatre.

No stitches came home at 630pm. More tomorrow congrats blueberries

Alicetheinvisible · 25/07/2010 21:30

Congratulations!!!!! Beautiful name

LizzieA · 25/07/2010 21:36

Congratulations girlsyearapart Lovely to see some pink!

I think I'm being lulled into a false sense of security by all of the relatively short labours and lack of stitches!!

ElusiveMoose · 25/07/2010 21:51

Congratulations girlsyearapart . Sounds like your reflexologist knew a thing or two . Sounds like you had a wonderful labour - I can't believe they let you out so quickly!! And a lovely name - one of my friends has got a Tilly, and I think it's beautiful. Great to have a bit of pink on the list; looks like you're going to have to change your MN name now .

Blueberries, thanks for sharing your birth story. All sounds pretty dramatic! God, I hope mine is as quick as yours and girlsyearapart's. Though I do need to allow time for my parents to drive an hour and a half to come and look after DS .

chickieno1 · 25/07/2010 22:02

Wow Congratulations blueberries and girlsyearapart. Both of you have amazing birth stories! Names re lovely too

Nikalah · 25/07/2010 22:04

OMG!! GYA Congratulations!!!

Definately booking reflexologist tomorrow!

bouncingblueberries · 26/07/2010 01:48

Congratulations girls!

weehector · 26/07/2010 06:26

Fantastic news gya. Congratulations! Like lizzie I'm taking confidence from all these quick & straightforward births at the moment. But also feeling slightly nervous because you were due the day before me...will wait & see what the MW says today.

Got a whole 5 hours sleep there with only a couple of trips to the loo. Feel great now so thinking of getting up to make a chocolate cake & add an extra layer of polish to yesterday's spring clean (nesting?).

weehector · 26/07/2010 06:31

Oh and great birth story blueberries. Thanks on behalf of us first timers. Might be revising my strategy of only contacting DH to request he tries to get off the boat after 4hrs of regular surges now..

thedogwalker · 26/07/2010 07:11

Congratulations GYA, that was so quick, I hope to be so lucky. Hope you and LO are well. Take care

soontobefatnat · 26/07/2010 08:27

Congrats GYA and Blueberries! So exciting that we're on a roll! Glad that you sound like you're all doing well.

Dibbydab · 26/07/2010 08:50

Well done BBB and GYA you must both be over the moon, what great positive birth stories (if a little dramatic BBB!) Welcome Glen and Tilly, fab names.

7 days till my due date but nothing to report going on downstairs . DH shifted the furniture out of the dining room and practised putting the pool up yesterday, so we're good to go on that front. Just feeling like a bit of a ticking time bomb at the moment, don't want to waste my ML, on the other hand don't want to venture too far from home. Fed up. WeeHector, fling a bit of that chocolate cake in my direction...
