Blueberries is having her baby, blueberries is having her baby.....

Good luck!

starshaker · 24/07/2010 20:27

Ok ladies need advice. Was in the kitchen and felt like my period had started and i leaked a bit. went to check and my pants were a bit wet. Have put a pad on and its just slightly damp after 2 hours. So have i peed myself or could it be my waters? Called the hospital and they told me to call back in a bit. Still feel like im leaking but the pad isnt overly damp. Bit confused

vitapulchra · 24/07/2010 21:08

Hmmmm--I think all you can do is try to sniff the pad to see if you can determine which it is. Let us know how you're getting on.

starshaker · 24/07/2010 21:24

i did that and it really doesnt smell like wee. The midwife wasnt very helpful and said its normal to have discharge at this stage. It seems too watery to be that though

Alicetheinvisible · 24/07/2010 21:28

Star my MW said to me the other day that you should get an increase of disharge towards the end and that it gets watery. I often change my pants twice a day and use liners as i feel contstantly damp (nasty i know) I know it is not my waters as it has been going on for a few weeks and all is ok and i vaguely remember this with DD and my waters went with a whoosh in labour.

Thinking that carying buckets of water about today was a bad idea as now got backache and BH.

kcoffin27 · 24/07/2010 21:35

Congraulations aussie and chuilta
goodluck blueberries

Sorry star cant offer any advice as never experienced waters breaking. Glad to hear your feeling better now

I saw the mw on thursday and baby is still not engaged and im 38+3. At least I know that baby will be here on wednesday at the latestas thats when im having section. Went on a 3 hour walk today at moors valley country park with sil, dh and ds's. Nothing happening though

Hope everyone else has had a good day

thedogwalker · 24/07/2010 21:45

Congratulations Chulita and Aussie and go go Blueberries.

wey hey, its all happening now. I'm getting a teensy weensy bit jealous as I cannot wait to meet my little man.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and hope all goes well for those that are nearing the final hurdle. Take care xx

tah2 · 24/07/2010 21:49

CONGRATULATIONS Aussie and Chulita

GOOD LUCK Blueberries

Star im sure ur dd will hav a fab time with her cousins, plus you get some well earned me time! Not sure about the waters thing tbh, but i would still get it checked by a midwife just in case - i always think you can never be too cautious.

ElusiveMoose · 24/07/2010 21:52

Yay Blueberries, good luck!! Wow, it's finally all kicking off around here, isn't it? .

Re waters breaking, last time mine went at home during the first stage - I'm absolutely certain they went, even though there wasn't that much fluid (it was the fact that there was a definite sudden warm gush while I was sitting still on the bed, not a trickle over time, that convinced me). But when I went to the hospital they did the swab thing and said they hadn't gone. But then they repeated it a couple of hours later and confirmed that my waters had gone, even though I'm certain there'd been no more significant leakage since that first gush. Sorry, not that helpful, but just saying that it's not always that clear-cut.

Anyway, I'm knackered tonight, so off to bed (kcoffin I can't believe you walked for 3 hours today ). After saying I was a bit worried about lack of movement, the baby's been wriggling like a good'un this evening. Horrible movements, though - it feels like he's slowly grinding his head against my cervix (I guess he probably is ). Most uncomfortable.

Can't wait to check in tomorrow morning for the latest update!!

kcoffin27 · 24/07/2010 22:10

elusive I have had that same feeling of the grinding on the pelvis, and agree it is very uncomfortable. The walk I did today involved lots of sitting on benches and children playing on the activities aswell, so wasn't all spent walking, just the majortiy we all had a great day. we wanted to do something nice this weekend as its the last one of it being just the 4 of us

Hope you all manage a good nights sleep tonight, im sure I will after that walk but then again at the moment I have terrible heartburn

CellyD · 24/07/2010 23:04

Congratulations Aussie & Chulita! Emster sorry you have had such a stressful week but glad you and little James are well.

cazzybabs · 24/07/2010 23:41

YEAH for lots of boys... congratultions

and good luck blueberries

star - I read you need to lie down for a couple of hours and then stand up..it is your waters they will pool and then gush out. Also it will smell like bleach..HTH

waddled around London zoo today..nobody offered me their seat on the blinking tube..ankles swollen due to walking around for 7 hours... but still it was fun!

starshaker · 25/07/2010 00:46

back from the hospital after another false alarm i swear next time im told to go up i will just refuse until they evict the squatters give me my section. at this rate there will be a section at the end of the week, just need to see if its a theatre section or 1 under the mental health act

chickieno1 · 25/07/2010 06:50

congratulations aussie and chulita !

Good luck blueberries.

Sorry it was a false alarm star

Can't sleep, having weird dreams all night and on my own as dh and family all away at brothers wedding. I couldn't fly cos 36weeks and wedding in america .

weehector · 25/07/2010 07:32

Wow. It's all go. Congrats to chulita & Aussie on the safe arrivals & best of British to blueberries. How exciting that we're on a mini roll that we've waited so long for.

Back in bed relaxing - just spent a happy hour putting a Wallcandy vinyl up in Babyweehector's room. It's a tree...it looks great.

Alicetheinvisible · 25/07/2010 08:26

Morning

Day just with DD again today. Weekend days with DH working seem to go so much slower than weekdays do. Think i am just going to try to catch up with some washing and perhaps do some baking later.

Just had half a melon for breakfast.

neenz · 25/07/2010 10:13

Blueberries, how exciting! Hope it's all going well.

Sorry you're getting fed up Star. How far along are you now?

Glad you're getting more movement Elusive. I am getting lots of downward pressure too which I am taking as a good sign.

wrt movements, 10 an hour is def not a typo in What To Expect... cos she says it more than once, but it obv doesn't concur with what other books say. She suggests you do this test morn and eve: sit down on sofa and start counting movements. If you don't get to 10 in an hour get a drink and snack and sit back down. If you still haven't had 10 movements in 2hrs then 'call your practitioner immediately'. If other books say 10 a day though then this seems a little OTT, but always best to be safe than sorry and MWs don't mind you giving them a call if you are worried. I always get to 10 movements within 10 mins tho.

cazzybabs · 25/07/2010 10:25

I don't think I have 10 movements an hour - unless I just don't feel them. It is more active when I forget to take my bp medicine though ...

bouncingblueberries · 25/07/2010 11:45

Quick update: Glenn arrived at 2:02 this morning after a very swift labour (needed blue lights and sirens was so swift!) Weighed 7lb 3oz and is simply perfect. His big brother is besotted! xx Another boy!!! Will post proper birth story later

Wow, congratulations Blueberries!! Sounds like those 'warm-up' contractions really did the trick, if he arrived so quickly - only six hours after your last post, I notice . Can't wait to see the pics and hear more details. xx

loobyt · 25/07/2010 13:24

Congratulations Blueberries!
