I am off to London zoo tomorrow - shall be hobbling around quite excitied! The roofers will be finished on Monday and Maternity leave will start a week today but am cheating as have been on holiday for 2 weeks already

girlsyearapart · 23/07/2010 19:27

What no baby news???

alice feel for you- the other day I kicked the wall when I woke up (sleep under the eaves in loft conversion) and stubbed my little toe. OMG it bloody hurt!

LCRLCR · 23/07/2010 21:26

So today was the last day of work and I got home to find that my hired TENS machines has arrived. Crikey is this all really happening...? EEK!

cazEm your lovely words made me weep, you are a brave brave lady and your love for Belle is so strong and true, it's beautiful. Take care of yourself and Jon xx

cazzybabs · 23/07/2010 21:47

Star - I keep meaning to ask how you are doing? Are you feeling more positive?

MrsZC - hope the music festival is fun

LCRLCR - congratulations on starting your maternity leave

Alice - hoe is the toe now? See it as preparation for labour

Loobyt - is the staircase nice?

starshaker · 23/07/2010 22:23

Yeah feeling a bit better. My mum has said shes gonna take dd for a week (between her and my SIL) to give me a break and hopefully the babies will decide then is a good time to come. Think my main stress is something happening and not having childcare for her.
Havent felt like killing anybody today which is a nice change.
It still feels like something is happening then it all stops again.

Hows everybody else doing?

Emster30 · 23/07/2010 22:28

Caz I'm another one in tears reading your post. I can't imagine what you must have been going through, and I think of you often. I was so touched that you posted on my FB page when James was born - it meant a lot. I'm afraid I didn't get organised to join in the present but I will make a donation to SANDS on your behalf. Sending you lots of love.

Brilliant news liaghen!

We are doing OK - little James is amazing. We have had our share of problems - he got jaundiced and dropped 12% of birth weight so we were readmitted to hospital overnight on Wednesday, just when my day 3 hormones had kicked in with a vengeance so I just sobbed and sobbed as you can imagine. We had to give formula top ups and luckily his blood sugar levels improved and his weight headed upwards so they let us home. My milk has come in today so we are feeding lots and I am also expressing so that we can use that to top him up overnight if necessary. It's hard work but I'm determined to make breastfeeding work! We've got great support from all the midwives and a fantastic breastfeeding advisor so with any luck we'll get there. He far prefers the breast to the bottle anyway which is good!

Good luck to Aussie and Chulita and anyone else imminent...

By the way it's true that the memory of giving birth starts to fade straight away - already I can't remember the pain! I said this to DH and he said "I can...". Remember it doesn't last forever and it's all worth it in the end.

tah2 · 23/07/2010 23:05

Caz Its lovely to hear from you. You truely seem to be an amazing person and Belle is so lucy to have such amazing parents. Im sure she is waiting for you up in heaven and the time will evemtually come when you will once again be reunited as a family.

Congrats to Liaghen I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Any news yet from aussie and chulita? Come on ladies we need more babies to coo over.

Alice much sympathy - stubbed toes are the worst!

Think its my turn for the tissues if thats ok with everyone. Im feeling really sorry for myself at the moment. I have been suffering with a chest infection for the last two weeks and just as it looks as tho its getting better i have now got tonsilitus. I have been trying to avoid taking antibiotics as i hav had really bad persistent thrush for the last 3 months or so, and didnt want to make it worse, but have given in. I am also anemic which doesnt help, i hav just had more blood taken as the doctr now thinks that i could be B12 deficient which is why the iron im taking isnt working. Just feel as tho being pregnant is enough to deal with at the best of times without any added complications!
Anyway rant over!

Good luck to all you ladies having trouble sleeping! xx

starshaker · 23/07/2010 23:49

tah2 Can you ask for steroids? When i had a chest infection that was threatening to kick off early labour i was given 4 days worth of steroids (7 tablets a day lol). The chest infection went within about 3 days. When i get antibiotics i always ask for something for thrush at the same time. Again the vit b12 deficency, i was very low but they wont do anything while im pregnant. ill get tested again after the twins arrive to see if it was due to pregnancy or if i will need to go on b12 injections

tah2 · 24/07/2010 00:00

Hi star Not sure if they wud give me steriods cos the chest infection seems to be clearing up now, plus im officially full term tomorrow (sat).
I didnt get thrush on prevoius pregnancies - could this be a sign im having a boy perhaps?
As for the b12 thing, it is very common in my family - nan, grandad, aunties etc are all b12 deficient, so im not holding out much hope.

starshaker · 24/07/2010 00:10

i had really bad thrush with dd and its not been as bad this time round and im having 1 of each lol. Im now not convinced anything is gender predicting (is that even a correct term) as this pregnancy has been easier up to a point than with my dd. My sickness wasnt half as bad its just the uncomfort thats been getting to me but what else can i expect when there is 2 in there fighting for room

tah2 · 24/07/2010 00:15

Oh star! i salute u for carrying twins! Im not one of those women who do pregnancy well, so cant possibly imagine being pregnant with two!

starshaker · 24/07/2010 00:19

Yeah twins was a shocker. If i ever have another (really doubt it) I will never ever ever say at the start of the thread hmmm i wonder how many sets of twins there will be cos i am the only 1 lol. There was another twin mum on here breifly but she dissapeared

weehector · 24/07/2010 01:00

No babies?!! I've been in Glasgow since this afternoon having a fabulous Italian meal (kinda felt like the last supper - with DH going onto a week of late shifts on Wednesday will we manage to eat out again before the baby is here?) & a trip to the cinema to see Eclipse. My favourite things today were the strawberry semifreddo & Jacob But anyway, I was sure there would be a baby by the time I got home..Aussie & chulita are definitely at defcom 1, aren't they or otherwise they'd be posting & not keeping us in suspense.

Woohoo for everyone starting mat leave - bet it feels brilliant, I've been slacking for so long now I can barely remember working or using my brain. It feels like everyone has caught up at last & I can say I'm on mat leave rather than being unemployed now!

alice boo to the pesky stubbed toe, star good to hear you sounding much happier in yourself today & emster you sound relaxed & happy & smitten despite a hiccuppy few days - great attitude towards the breastfeeding too by the sounds of it...lots of love to you & James.

The nightshift will be operating a milkbar & limited cake service tonight as I'm sticking to milk & no 3am snacks because it's been constant touch & go whether I'm going to puke from acid reflux. The lower back pain is back too so I'm half hoping the sickness is a warm up labour symptom. Tons of BH but no ouchy contractions since Wednesday so I won't be betting the house on it.

Sleep well poppets.

vix206 · 24/07/2010 02:11

Weehector not everyone has caught up. My mat leave (2 weeks of it lol) won't start til I go into labour

I'm on the nightshirt unfortunately, mainly because dh is snoring.... After a 10 hr work day I could really do without it!

Xx

weehector · 24/07/2010 03:02

Sorry vix much respect for your situation. Didn't mean to rub your face in it after a long day. Milk? Victoria sponge or chocolate cake? Think it's going to be a long night with no news.

bouncingblueberries · 24/07/2010 05:08

Morning girls - the dawn shift is here now so you can pop off to bed now.

emster lovely to hear from you - sounds like you've had a tough few days honey. But hang in there, you're doing a great job!

Much sympathy for bashed toes and hormones running wild everyone.

Well, after a morning of increasingly uncomfortable cramps and tightenings I had high hopes for something starting through the night...but no. Sigh. Looks like the reflexology was a waste of time!

Hope both chulita and Aussie are having lovely snuggles with their newborns by now

bouncingblueberries · 24/07/2010 07:43

Oh! Just had a show...

girlsyearapart · 24/07/2010 08:03

Yay blueberries and double yay cos I'm having reflexology later so here's hoping I will follow you.

Impatient to hear some baby news from someone!

Alicetheinvisible · 24/07/2010 08:16

Morning

I have told the baby it needs to come today, so i can avoid the inlaws stopping by

girlsyearapart · 24/07/2010 08:19

Like your style alice

Alicetheinvisible · 24/07/2010 08:28

If it could come sometime between 12pm - 6pm ish, then DH could still do his overtime tomorrow while i stay in hospital for sunday, that would be perfect. Can't have it this morning because a friend is here and want to hear all about her new granddaughter

Heard yesterday that my friend who is due on 5th Aug is having a cs on monday due to baby being in an awkward position. Bit jealous! When they offered me my cs (i am going for vbac instead) i was only allowed 3 days early.

MW seems to think i am carrying a big baby, despite the fact that on wed (37+2) i was measuring bang on 37wks and i have a really neat round bump. Hmmm.....

Baby is all angles and pointy bits this morning.

vix206 · 24/07/2010 09:04

Yay a show!! Keep us posted! It's so exciting now isn't it! Managed to get back to sleep in the end now off for a day of house viewings.

Have a lovely day everyone and I think we should set up a maternity leave whinge box for me so every time I complain about not having any I have to pay 10p or something

Aussieng · 24/07/2010 09:10

Hey everyone. Hope all is well this fine morning! Just quickly to let you know that baby James (jamie) arrived at 2.50 am yesterday. Labour failed to progress so eventually I was induced but all is well. Dh and I are completely besotted and we have an utter cuddle monster. Still in hospital - should be home later and will catch up and post properly. X

loobyt · 24/07/2010 09:11

Congratulations Aussie x

Alicetheinvisible · 24/07/2010 09:14
