Yay, Aussie. Just happened to be online (trying to buy a tumble dryer) and popped in for a nosy. How exciting! Really good luck - sounds like its all kicking off. Hope you go into labour soon. Sure you will, just think that last night you'd resigned yourself to waiting.

babyducky · 21/07/2010 07:40

Good luck Aussie

how exciting ....

Bubbabear · 21/07/2010 09:34

Nice to hear from you Emster little James is absolutely gorgeous!

Hope everythings going well for you Aussie Looking forward to hearing how everything goes

According to midwife yesterday bubs is now suddenly head down. I did feel him move Monday night when laying in bed but I wasn't really convinced that he'd sorted himself out. Am nearly 36 weeks & have GP app on Monday so will see what the verdict is then!

Have been thinking alot lately about 'what if' I had to have a c-section cause LO wouldn't move out of being transverse & I was surprised at how disappointed I'd be if I didn't have the opportunity to go into labour naturally, think I'm kinda looking forward to it in a weird sorta way! Would never have believed that a few months ago!!!

Hope everyone has a good day, off for a teddy bears picnic with my class this afternoon. Hmmm which teddy bear to take...

ElusiveMoose · 21/07/2010 09:53

Yay Aussie, good luck!! It really made me laugh that you posted that your dates had been changed, and then the very next post your waters had broken. These babies certainly like to keep us on our toes .

Still no twinges here, and I'm hoping no baby for another couple of weeks. Builders are still in full swing, so I could do without a newborn in the middle of it all. Although it is messy and noisy, I must say that all the different builders and tradesmen have been absolutely fantastic. I think I'm actually slightly in love with my tiler . But I am hoping that things are quiet enough for DS to have a proper nap at lunchtime today, because he's absolutely shattered at the moment.

On the plus side, I'm sleeping fantastically, believe it or not (sorry to all those of you who aren't). After my 2 months of cough-related total lack of sleep, I'm now crashing out at about 10.30 and not waking up until about half past six, which is bliss.

Anyway, must go and do something useful while DS is at preschool - blimey, where did the last hour go already!!! I'll be back later to see how Aussie's getting on .

thedogwalker · 21/07/2010 10:01

Good luck Aussie, how exciting!!!!

So glad your baby has turned Bubbabear. Keep up the positive thinking and then a natural birth can be yours. I feel exactly the same, I don't want a c-section and I will feel cheated if I have to have one, so am hoping all goes well.

Chulita I've got the same as you, constant BH, had them for nearly 2 weeks now and they are more or less constant, really annoying. The only thing that keeps me going is hoping that these are really softening my cervix and will hopefully make things easier in the end [fingers crossed emoticon]

Hope everyone is okay and I am so looking forward to hearing from Aussie.

I am finding it hard to post at the moment as my fingers are so swollen, I'm finding it hard to type, but I will try and keep putting in the odd post.

pamplem0usse · 21/07/2010 10:41

Good luck Aussie! So my pains weren't 'normal'... Currently tucked up in a hospital bed having been admitted at 5pm last night in excruciating pain. Baby is apparently v happy but I am not - though did manage to avoid the morphine I was prescribed!

Hopefully out later if they work out what's causing it. Horrible hospital experience making me consider a home birth; anyone know if I can opt for one at this point? Am due aug 26th...

ElusiveMoose · 21/07/2010 10:55

Oh Pample, poor you. I'm guessing you've still got time to opt for a home birth as long as they satisfy themselves that whatever is causing the pain isn't something that's going to present any risks in labour. I guess talk to your MW as soon as you come out. Hang in there - and hope you're feeling better soon. xx

thedogwalker · 21/07/2010 10:59

Hope you feel better soon Pample and you can have your home birth. Take care xx

vix206 · 21/07/2010 11:09

oh pample poor you! I hope they get you sorted out asap!

As I understand it you're not too late to opt for home but they'll only allow it if you haven't had any serious complications by the time you get to 37 weeks (thats how they work round here anyway), so wait and see what is causing these pains. Fingers firmly crossed it is something totally harmless. Big hugs hang in there!

And Aussie!! How exciting good luck and keep us posted as best you can!

I've taken morning off and am baking cakes and listening to hypnobirthing affirmations! Off to work in about an hour though boo!

Dibbydab · 21/07/2010 11:11

Oh Pample, what a pain (literally and metaphorically!)

I didn't have my home birth visit until I was 37 weeks (they won't deliver at home before that time), as Elusive said, get onto your MW as soon as you get out, you've still got time. Best get it arranged and not use it, than only have the option of hospital and wish you done it differently after the baby is born.

It doesn't actually cause them any more hassle - the only extra things we had was a scan at 37 weeks to make sure baby was in head down position and a home visit from lovely community midwife to check out location of house/parking/tea and biscuit supplies. They don't bring anything to the house until you are actually in labour so not an awful lot of preparation on their part, though I've been stashing old towels/shower curtains/cushions like a mad woman for the last couple of months - mainly charity shop finds, but hey ho, they're going in the bin anyway!

Big hugs x

bouncingblueberries · 21/07/2010 11:32

No word from Chulita yet this morning - wonder if she's in labour?

pample hope they sort you out soon no fun being stuck in hospital.

Hope things are progressing well for you aussie!

Exciting stuff!

Aussieng · 21/07/2010 11:33

Hello ladies - thanks for all the good wishes. That's what I get for being smug about my due dates.

Pample - poor you, I hope things ease off and you're out soon.

LOL - Weehector - buying tumble dryers at 5 am?

So all is well with me - as predicted after confirming that my waters had indeed broke (not much doubt about that - no-one could wet themselves that much!) and that lo is fine I've been sent home for 24 hours in the hope that labour comes on naturally otherwise it is induction time tomorrow morning. I'm having mild(ish) and irregular contractions now so I'm going to do some bouncing on my ball whilst watching one of the three comedy DVD's I had treated myself to for whilst in labour in the hopes of brining it on more and thinking about flowers opening up. I guess I won't be making it to the comedy club on Sunday, nor to lunch with my friend tomorrow. So I guess this is what being a parent is like .

Nikalah - good call on the mattress protector - we hadn't put ours on yet. Luckily the ping of my waters breaking woke me up so I was awake when it happened and we reacted quickly. Mattress will still need a shampoo but we have a shampooer so it will give DH something else to do today. I can't believe just how much liquid was in me!!!!

The rest of the nursery furniture finally arrived too!

Have a great day everyone. I'll update if there is any more news. It all feels a bit slow and bizarre at the moment.

ElusiveMoose · 21/07/2010 11:56

Good to hear from you Aussie, and sounds like things might be starting to happen on their own, so fingers crossed you won't need to be induced . I have to say I thought they let you go more like 72 hours after your waters break before they induce, but maybe I'm making that up, or maybe it's 72 hours to actual delivery .

Note to self - go and put towels under bed sheets .

mrsZaC · 21/07/2010 12:00

hey ladies, just a quickie as i'm popping out, DH got home yesterday after 3 weeks away working so we're spending the day together before heading off to tiree for a little long weekend. Will be checking on my iphone for updates!!

yippeee for aussie!!!! good luck my darling, hope all goes well.

Stay sane ladies, speak to you all soon xxx

Palace39 · 21/07/2010 12:20

Just experienced my first cup of raspberry leaf tea- actually quite like it!!

This mornings visit to the doc re SPD was fruitless as usual, it doesn't seem to matter what my question is, if i ask the midwife i get told to ask the doctor, if i ask the doctor i get told to call the midwife. Grrrrr!!!

So far no BH, no twinges (accepted that i'm only 36+1), but kiddo has been constantly on the move since early yesterday morning. And when i say moving, i mean almost violently, and without let up. I feel like my stomach is about to burst it's so tight.

Aussie i hope you don't have to be induced, and good luck!
