Still here! Still pregnant!

So weird - went for a bath last night about 8:30pm had loads of tightenings in the bath, got out the bath and everything stopped no more dampness. Nothing.

Freaking out a bit now - the tightening were starting to feel really regular. So am I just mildly incontinent or did my hindwaters go? Waaaaaaaaah! The uncertainty is driving me insane!

bouncingblueberries · 18/07/2010 06:17

emster, chulita how are you guys getting on? Any progress?

My mum arrives today so I was getting excited that the baby would arrive before she did - would have been perfect timing! Not to be though...

weehector · 18/07/2010 08:22

Wot no babies yet? Just woken up after an epic sleep and was mightily hopeful that someone might have joined cherry on the honours list.

Ah well, everything baby related that can possibly be done has been done here (with the exception of buying a waterproof sheet for the cot & Moses basket) so it's a day of cleaning & bed changes for guests here. I had a lovelyday with some of the family here yesterday - they were doing a recce for the hospital (my aunt is a birth partner) & to see the nursery but I was relieved that they decided not to stay over as planned. Oh, and mrsZac my brother knows or knows of your DH...don't think they've sailed together but he's a nice guy apparently! Maybe some more baking..though there's still some courgette cake here if anyone wants a slice for breakfast. DH has just brought me in a Sunday Times so I think I'll languish in bed with a cup of tea & read for a bit before starting my day...and appreciate the sheer luxury of time to myself while I still
can.

Hope eveyone has relaxed & easy Sundays or there's progress for our 'is this it?' ladies (note: no word from emster or Aussie for even longer, this am). C'mon babies!

ElusiveMoose · 18/07/2010 08:34

Rushed straight to the computer this morning, but still no babies!! I reckon today's the day for some arrivals, though (and might have been some last night that we don't know about yet). But maybe I'm biased - every single one of the current generation of children in our family has been born on a Sunday, which is quite weird.

Blueberries how frustrating! Do you reckon you ought to call your MW just to check whether they want to find out if your waters did go??

Chulita · 18/07/2010 09:01

blueberries I'm still here. I was the same, getting semi-regular, mine stopped in the bath and started up again afterwards, then it all petered out with 3 big ones during the night but nothing this morning. I think this is the way I'm going to go for weeks yet. This morning I've got period type pains but no contractions.
Hope emster's getting on alright!

bouncingblueberries · 18/07/2010 09:12

Think you're right elusive - will feel really stupid if it was just excessive watery discharge though

bouncingblueberries · 18/07/2010 09:15

Oh chulita! I had high hopes for you! Lots of periodtype pains here too - it's just boring now!! Really thought we were game on last night as the tightenings felt more like proper contractions than braxton hicks. Boo! Hurry up baby!

cazzybabs · 18/07/2010 10:11

God I rushed on here too ... (and am in trouble with dh again as am supposed to be getting ready to go out) .... am so tired today and am off to a NT garden..not sure I will be able to walk to far....never was like this with the other girls. I could always walk miles

Alicetheinvisible · 18/07/2010 11:11

What a stubborn lot these babies are!

Slept really well last night. Only woke up to go for a wee a few times, but straight back to sleep again. Dh brought me breakfast in bed too and i didn't get up til 10am! (was awake from 8am though)

Contractions have eased off completely, i only got a couple of random stronger ones yesterday. Feel really queasy atm, has anyone else got ms back? Because that is what this feels like

Fun day planned of lots of washing and putting stuff back to how it should be. Dining room is all painted now Just need to find some nice oilcloth for the table

soontobefatnat · 18/07/2010 11:17

Bah - no babies! Hehe, come on ladies!

CherryPie3 · 18/07/2010 11:45

Crikey still no more babies??

Nothing from Emster tho so perhaps she's snuggling her little one .

Blueberries don't think you're going to be long hun. When my waters went with dd they just trickled but when I got to the hospital an hour later the pad was soaked and my jeans -I looked like I just peed myself. But I never actually felt a gush, just trickles.

The week before my waters went this time I was having loads of watery discharge and was constantly running to the loo to just check.

Chulita I really don't think you'll be long either!

Looby Congrats on your little girl news - how lovely to find out And great news about your placenta.

Star Any news? Are those babies behaving again?

I know I've missed about a million posts and I'm really sorry. My brain too tired to store any information. It's nothing personal to those that I've missed .

Corey still being a little angel. Although his big brother and sister not being quite so good. We finally let them share a bedroom and every night they've mis-behaved. Jumping from one bed to the other, throwing their duvets on the floor and blaming the other, turningn their tv on when it's not a tv night . Thing is now tho I can't move ds back into his room as that will be Corey's nursery in 6months (it's currently a playroom).

Despite all this - I would like another baby . Not right away but in a few yrs. I doubt very much that I'll get one as whilst I was pregnant I was completely decided that this was IT! No more but now I'm in a non-pregnant state I feel that 4 is a good number . At least 5 yrs away tho as I'm having the Mirena coil fitted at my post-natal check.

Am I crazy??

Love to all - will still be here even though I may not post post very often anymore. I just can't get the hang of one-handed typing while breastfeeding - I keep knocking the laptop over!!

starshaker · 18/07/2010 12:03

Well as most of you know i was taken into hospital on friday with contractions. The think it was caused by a urine infection so started antibiotics which seem to have made everything stop. Have also had the steroid injections incase they do come early (now they are literally a pain in the ass). Just got home but back up tomorrow for my scan and to see the consultant and hopefully find out when these 2 are going to finally arrive.
As much as i know they are better off where they are I WANT THEM OUT NOW.

Bubbabear · 18/07/2010 12:34

Hello everyone, have been so busy / stressed / tired lately this is the first time i havent really been able to keep up with posts at all!

Really thought i may have missed an announcement or two but seems like babies are still all snug...for now!

Am half way through my NCT antenatal classes, really helpful & comforting plus a nice bunch of ladies to meet for lunch & coffees with There are 8 of us. Thought it was quite interesting that 4 of us have found out the sex & the others are a surprise. Of the four who found out, they are all boys! Seems like a bit of a theme for August as boys dominate our list too at the moment. Will be good to see the final totals! Cant wait!

Pretty much have everything for bubs now (i think) but getting a bit stressed that nursery is still not finished plus i have loads to sort out around the house, hate things being a mess. I finish work on friday so had it all planned to get things done 1st week of maternity leave & then put my feet up properly. However have been in a lot of pain with my back the last few days & i can barely walk let alone do painting / washing / housework etc. Sooooo frustrating. Im a very impatient patient Anybody have any ideas for things that help back pain?

DP is away in Switzerland for 'work' the next few weeks & then a week in Wales so he's no help! My family only live half an hour away so will have to bite the bullet & actually ask for help for once methinks!

Anyways, sorry for the whinge just used to being so independent. Will pledge to keep things in perspective more...

Hope everybody with possible labour symptoms are feeling well & not too fed up. Good thoughts & cake for everyone, we definately deserve it by this stage! x

girlsyearapart · 18/07/2010 12:48

things are hotting up on this thread now aren't they!

Reckon emster is in having her baby/had her baby already..

Wrt waters I don't know as mine gushed out onto the floor both times in a 'only think it happens like that on tv' way..

cherry no you're not mad I'm planning on having 1 more after this one. 4 seems like a good number

neenz · 18/07/2010 13:47

lol Cherry - as soon as the DTs started sleeping through the night (12wks) I wanted to have another baby. During first trimester sicknessz with this baby I said definitely no more, but as soon as ms stopped I thought I'll never get bored of having babies! Bring on No.4!

neenz · 18/07/2010 13:49

BB, I am definitely loads more horny during pregnancy - it's something to do with having more blood flowing around 'down there' apparently!

LizzieA · 18/07/2010 14:09

I was expecting at least one new baby announcement this morning after the niggles of the last few days.

I'm waiting for the nesting instinct to kick in, all I want to do at the moment is sit on the sofa or sleep. My sister just called round and I was a little bit ashamed at the state of the house - I think my hoover will need to be dusted before I can use it!

lo's movements are getting huge now, I'm embarrassed to say that every so often I'm wishing he'd stay still. I know that's really bad because if he wasn't moving I'd be up at the hospital petrified that something was wrong. Just takes my breath away every so often when an arm or leg decides to do a full tummy sweep.

Right, I'm going to clean the kitchen (honest)....

loobyt · 18/07/2010 14:51

Cherry can't believe you're thinking about the next one already!

I'm so sleepy today, so know how you feel Lizzie. I was trying to have a nap but everytime I closed my eyes DS would come and open them for me!

Did manage a bit of baby clothes shopping this morning though! Very strange buying girls clothes rather than boys! We got some really cute outfits!

Looking forward to hearing from emster

Chulita · 18/07/2010 16:17

Lol at dusting the hoover lizzie I did a mammoth clean last weekend and I feel like doing another one today but I just can't get up and down properly anymore!

cherry I agree that 4 seems a good number even though I'm struggling at the mo with being pg and having a toddler.

Things I can't wait to do once this LO's out:
Cuddle DD properly
Wear my engagement ring
Go for a run
Have glorious, mind-boggling sex (or any kind of sex would do )

I'm just sitting here, poking my belly everytime I get a BH telling this little one that it's enough...I don't think he's listening though! I know I'm not overdue yet, it's just the constant tightenings are getting on my nerves.

vitapulchra · 18/07/2010 16:18

Blueberries All my labours thus far have started with my waters breakingin a trickle. They never gushed, just trickled from beginning to end. (I'm so used to this that I'm planning on this labour starting exactly the same way.) It would be nice to know if yours have started to goisn't there a chance of infection if they've broken but you don't start labour? Don't feel sheepish asking, either. It sounds like waters to me, not like incontinence. Whatever the case, best of luck! And to everyone else who will meet their lo soon!

bouncingblueberries · 18/07/2010 17:56

Hi girls!

lol at you lot and your talk of 4 kids! Would be lovely to have a big family I admit, but we're rapidly running out of space and there's no way we can afford to move house for at least 3 years. By then I think I'll be rapidly approaching 40 and would sort of like my body back by then.

chulita I too cannot wait until I can go running again. I stack on the weight when pregnant and I hate feeling this fat and useless (especially as dh is such a whippet and runs at least 4 times a week!). I even worked out some new running routes already to try out - cannot wait!

cherry lovely to hear from you and glad things are still going well.

alice I found some nice oilcloth on eBay just last week. Yay for having finished the painting!

So I phoned the midwife this morning and she eventually called back this afternoon. She didn't seem convinced at all that it was my waters and tbh, I do think now that it was just wishful thinking. I've had a pad on all day and although there has been some more of the dampness, I'm sure now that it's just really, really watery discharge. Managed to locate my cervix (almost have to be double-jointed at this stage!) and although it's soft, I think it is still quite high and certainly not open.

My mum arrives tonight so maybe she can encourage this baby to get a move on!

isheisnthe · 18/07/2010 18:02

Well, DS3 is still breach! The midwife has booked a consultant appointment for me thursday to discuss options, either a, turn him, b, give birth to a LARGE breach baby or c, c-section me??

Has anyone else ever had this?

Bubbabear · 18/07/2010 18:33

isheisnthe this is my first so ive not had it before but i think i may be in a similar boat as you. Its very obvious to me that my LO is switching between transverse & oblique (diagonally down rather than head straight down) & shows no sign of shifting all the way no matter what i try. Im 35+3 & have midwife appointment on tuesday so will see what the verdict is then...

Has anybody had random shooting pains in the top of their leg? Just appears for no reason, makes me double over & then its gone.

Knew i'd been too lucky through this pregnancy! Didnt have any morning sickness, only a few weeks of nausea, and only thing ive found physically difficult is the exhaustion. Now, within a week im very uncomfortable, have back pain, knee pain (caused by hobbling from back pain) and top of the leg pain As you can tell, im moving about very graciously at the mo!

Lizzie makes me feel better about the housework The only reason my hoover doesnt have dust on is because i made DP use it after making a right mess walking in & out with his shoes on while gardening all afternoon & then inviting people round without telling me. House was a tip!

CherryPie3 · 18/07/2010 18:57

hmmm....still no word from Emster...

vix206 · 18/07/2010 19:41

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a nice relaxing Sunday evening. I am taking it easy as have felt exhausted all weekend, all the broken sleeps I've put up with since about 20 weeks are really starting to take their toll now - and like a lot of you I am feeling really big and uncomfortable. Mind you, with the leg and back pain I've had, uncomfortable has been my main feeling since April! I'm up every 2 hours each night now for toilet visits, and sometimes find it impossible to sleep at all because I just can't get comfy. Then around 5am each day the leg cramps wake me up and DH says I am whimpering in my sleep. And all everyone says is 'make the most of your sleep while you can get it'. That's a laugh!!

Anyway, yesterday we went to Peterborough to Kiddicare and bought a load of bits and bobs that we needed; baby monitor, sling, moses basket and stand, a few toys and little bits here and there. We also wanted to test out the Stokke Xplory in person, and yes it is definitely the only one for us. Sadly it doesn't fit in the boot of our beloved Fiat 500, but we had already decided to buy a second hand, larger family car as a second car later this year.

Good luck to everyone hoping labour is imminent, I still have another 4 weeks and keep flitting between 'I bet it will be longer' and 'I bet it will be sooner'. My mum thinks it will be any day now but she's been rushing this pregnancy ever since she found out back when I was 6 weeks!

And a massive thanks to Chulita for selling me the birth pool in a box, I can't wait! Oh and mrsZaC, I hear what you're saying about homebirths/moving etc. We almost ditched the idea of homebirthing for the exact same reasons but when I had to go into the maternity unit for monitoring at 27 weeks it really cemented the fact that I hate hospitals. The midwife advised that if we had even the slightest idea we might like a homebirth we should plan for one, because the hospital is always there as a back-up if we need it and it is far easier to change your plans that way around than to plan for hospital and then opt for a homebirth IYSWIM?

As it turns out, we have one dependent offer on the house (the people love it but need to sell theirs and its only just gone on the market), one lady who is ready to move but trying to decide between 2 properties and one other couple on the verge of making (another) dependent offer. So whichever way it works out we aren't going anywhere for the next 4-6 weeks at least! Obviously anyone wanting to view for the week or so after the birth will be put off, but I think that would be the case even if I delivered in hospital anyway... I don't know, we'll just play it all by ear I suppose!

Oops, mammoth post - sorry ladies!
