morning all, sympathy for those of you having trouble sleeping. Sleeping is the one thing I'm very good at

I'm going to a breastfeeding clinic this morning so hopefully will be useful. It's the last ante-natal thing I have booked so afer that it's bring on baby! (Although I'm not due for another month (sigh)).

Impressed with those of you managing sex. I'm planning to have a go to try and get things going the weekend before my due date but I'm not sure we'll be able to manage it!

Hope everyone has a lovely saturday x

girlsyearapart · 17/07/2010 08:44

morning all. I actually got a half decent night's sleep. Neither of the girls woke so didn't have to sort them out, woke for a wee at 2am then when dh got in from work around 3 then the girls woke at 6 and 615..

My Mum having them this morning but not until 1030 which will really be 11.. So my 'morning off' still involves looking after them for 5 hours.

alice I reckon you'll be next- planning a nice day is a dangerous move!

I am also clueless about this whole real vs false labour thing. With dd1 I was up with backache on and off most of the night, thought I'd go for a swim managed 1 length, contractions (as I realised they were) too strong to get myself changed afterwards), dh came to help, went home watched tv and paced around, argued with dh about whether to go in to hospital, lost argument as waters broke all over landing..

Got to hosp at 10am 4cm, ready to push around 1 but got too tired (due to my M.S.) had ventouse dd1 born 3.50.

Very different with dd2.
No pains or signs.
Having loft converted so staying night at the ils. Dd1 not interested in travel cot so battle finally won around 1030pm.
Walked out of room and waters went.
Went to hosp around 11, contractions started on way there, dd2 born around 2am.

This time contractions/pains/funny feelings since 29 wks and now at 37+3 still no baby

I was going to post about where star was last night- wondered whether she was ok as hasn't been on in a while.

Looking forward to some baby news soon - if not mine at least somebody's!!

vix206 · 17/07/2010 10:05

As of last night star was in hospital looking like the twins might be on their way!! She posted about it on facebook x

vix206 · 17/07/2010 10:08

Oops shouldve read more posts before I posted about star!! Can you tell I am exhausted??

cazzybabs · 17/07/2010 10:23

AHHH I have woken up full of cold.. I am so blocked up..my poor nose and ears... plus its so much effoft to talk ..

Am excitied about Star's twins..my friend had hers on Monday!

Alicetheinvisible · 17/07/2010 10:33

Cazzy rubbish

Well apart from constant period pain nothing happening this morning. Have mucked the horses out and could really do with some sleep. DH should finish work around 11.30am, so may go to bed for an hour then. Friend picking me up at 1.30pm.

Although i really am ready for this baby to come (especially if it is going to keep me up in pain) the thought of it coming before the house is vaguely straight and the fact the cupboards are bare is stressing me out!

Emster30 · 17/07/2010 11:46

I'm another one with period pains and backache today (had hot curry and sex last night...). I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep for ages - I got up and put a loaf of bread on in the bread machine! I had a long hot bath at about 10.30 which was nice and soothing. I wouldn't have said the pains were contractions, but they feel like the most painful day of my period and they are rather unpleasant. I've taken a couple of paracetamol and hope that will help a bit when they kick in.

I hope they either ease off or develop into proper labour soon!

cazzybabs · 17/07/2010 11:49

BTW how is Caz... I am all hormonal today and have a littl cry again thinking about her

mrsZaC · 17/07/2010 12:00

morning ladies

Alice sorry to hear about your furniture troubles last thing you want is for people to be messing you a round at this delicate stage.

cazzy sorry to hear your poorly, hope your better soon.

Amazing on how much you miss in a couple of days and I've mostly just forgot the specifics of what I've read but caught up on everything!

re: nightdresses I got a pink checkered £8 size 16 (normally 10-12) in tesco it's more like a big shirt really but felt comfy and long enough to cover my dignity. I got a breastfeeding camisole from amoralia which I am LOVING just now, finally something that my boobs don't fall out of in the night, I'm planning on taking that to the hospital and maybe getting some black pj bottoms and a light dressing gown as a coverup for after labour.

vix good plan getting the birthing pool, I will hopefully be using the one in the hospital. I must admit I'm a little on you having a home birth I wanted one but we didn't know if we would have sold by this point and we are planning on moving nearer stirling side so didn't want to further complicate the situation.

Nanna's funeral was yesterday, was a lovely service, we played Non, je ne regrette rien at the end which was so uplifting and fitting, really reminded me of how much she lived her life to the full, which makes the whole thing a little less upsetting. Slept for scotland last night, think it's just such an emotional release when you have a funeral. Anyway, sorry to rabbit on about something not too cheery but you had all been so kind I thought I'd let you know how it went.

hope star is doing ok will be stalking her page for fbook updates

Well best be off, going to buy some bits n' bobs for my photoshoot tomorrow, my photographer friend is coming round to take some snaps on my new body, quite nervous but excited to see the results

hope your all enjoying your weekends and not too uncomfortable. Congrats to those who have finished up on mat leave, i finish on Tuesday @ 34 weeks it's the same date as DH gets home from work so we will have 3 weeks together before he goes back for 2 weeks and then arrival is imminent!! I'm starting to get really fed up of my very sore ribs, there is just no escape!!! particularly when I'm driving and I can't stop driving as I would just be house bound when DH is away!!

anyways love and hugs to all!

xxx

mrsZaC · 17/07/2010 12:01

forgot to mention, had 1/2 a glass of red wine yesterday to toast to my nanna, didn't seem right with anything else! felt terribly guilty but it tasted lovely, YUM!

bouncingblueberries · 17/07/2010 12:07

Just a quick one - just bought a cheapo nightie in Primark for £3.50 with buttons halfway down the front if anyone is still looking!

Chulita · 17/07/2010 12:15

I got some cheap nighties from the evil Primark too - cheap and ready to be binned if/when they get horrible.

I've got really bad pain now in my pelvic bone. It's agony to walk, I end up shuffling along so I don't spread my legs too far. Standing on one leg is impossible, rolling over in bed results in burning pain. DH keeps reminding me that it's 3 weeks more at the most but it's so painful and of course I've got DD to look after. Sorry for the whinge, I'm just hurting all the time at the mo. I haven't told the MW either cos she never gives me the time so I'm going to have to write it in the birth plan so they're aware I can't open my legs very far.

Hope star holds off for a bit to let her twins grow a bit more.

mrsZaC 1/2 glass won't hurt - the new guidelines don't say absolutely no alcohol now anyway so you're alright! Glad your gran's funeral went as well as something like that can.

bouncingblueberries · 17/07/2010 16:34

ok, not sure what's going on here, so stick with me girls!

First thing this morning I was making breakfast for ds and thought I'd let out a tiny little wee. Ignored it and then decided it was just (TMI alert) increased discharge.

Went shopping and had a few painful braxton hicks but nothing of any note. Then about 1.5 - 2 hours ago I suddenly realised my knickers felt a bit damp...went to the loo and noticed a definite dampness...hard to tell what though. At the same time, dh and ds were just heading out the door - off on a father/son mini adventure (train to London, St James Park, train home). So I waved them off and then put on a clean, dry panty liner.

Came straight to mumsnet and googled waters breaking gush or trickle and baby did a huge kick, which was swiftly followed by an unmistakable trickling sensation.

Trouble is, I feel damp, but no more. I'm not losing heaps of fluid, but something is definitely going on! I even went for a walk to see if that increased the dampness, but it didn't.

So I have no idea what is happening. Don't want to phone dh and panic him just in case it's incontinence...tis very odd though. With ds my waters gushed and gushed and gushed and then gushed some more...

Will keep you all posted but have a feeling this is bladder rather than baby related

soontobefatnat · 17/07/2010 16:43

Ooh - exciting Blueberries! I guess keep monitoring the situation? It does sound a bit mad that your bladder would be playing up so much in one day. Especially if you're not dashing about madly. But I know nothing! There are wiser souls who can weigh in I'm sure!

Emster30 · 17/07/2010 17:06

How odd!

Just to keep you all posted, i've been having regularish contractions all afternoon - just trying to decide when to head to hospital...

bouncingblueberries · 17/07/2010 17:12

Oh emster very exciting!

Still damp here...Lots of tightening. Nowt much else

marzipananimal · 17/07/2010 17:17

wow exciting emster!!!

and blueberries too! Can you smell if it smells like wee or not? MW on my antenatal class said if you think waters may have gone to put on a clean pad and lie down on your back for a bit, then if when you stand up you get another flow into your pad then they probably have. Hope that makes sense! Apparently if you're upright then after the first trickle the baby's head can plug the exit - so that's why lying down for a bit can help

mrsZaC · 17/07/2010 17:34

ahh how exciting emster & blueberries very best of luck if this is it

babyducky · 17/07/2010 17:40

Good luck girls!! How exciting!!!

soontobefatnat · 17/07/2010 17:43

Ooh - good luck to you too Emster!!

Chulita · 17/07/2010 18:48

Good luck to both of you!

I've been having strong and occasionally painful contractions since about 12 but this happened last week and nothing came of them so I'm ignoring them. They're not regular either, sometimes every 5 mins, sometimes every 20. They're definitely contractions though, not BH so it's all good practice!

Hope we get some babies soon

OP posts:
neenz · 17/07/2010 19:45

Good luck Emster - don't go to the hospital too early cos it sucks when they send you home.

Blueberries, I have told DH 'lots of sex please it helps the cervix to thin!' but I wonder whether he is feeling a bit weird about it now cos I am so huge. I am so horny though, I have orgasms in my sleep if we haven't had sex for a week or so . Ina May says sexually active people are less likely to go overdue so fingers crossed!

I have reusable wipes, just cheap flannels from Ikea and some muslins cut into 4 or 6. I just douse them in chamomile tea and sometimes honey too.

cazzybabs · 17/07/2010 20:05

blimey... so exciting. looking forward to some birth stories soon

bouncingblueberries · 17/07/2010 20:13

OMG Neenz I have been sooooooo horny this whole pregnancy and have jumped on dh at every given opportunity Only ever seem to be this horny when I'm preggers though poor dh. Since this is our last baby, that'll be our sex-life over then!

Well, still lots of dampness and some tightenings that definitely make me take notice, but I'm not entirely convinced this is it yet. I may possibly be in denial...

Have decided to conserve my energy just in case and spend the evening chilling out rather than hiking in the woods (as Ina May would have me do!).

Good luck emster and chulita if this is it for you guys!

Will keep you all posted...might nip off for a clary sage bath in a bit.

Chulita · 17/07/2010 20:20

emster sending good luck labour vibes your way!

blueberries I hope this is it for you, although I'll be very, very I'm sure this isn't anything for me, just the same old crap so I'll be checking in tomorrow to see if you've got anywhere

I'm never horny when pg, poor DH. I'm super-horny normally though maybe it switches during pgcy...no hope for an early baby for me if sexually active people have them sooner [sigh]
