Just jumping on to say I've not posted cos mil's been here for days and she reads over my shoulder...
Nothing happening on this front, all BH and SPD pains and nothing else. Had a VE yesterday that really hurt only to be told that my cervix was still very high and soft but I'm still on course for a vbac.
Will post and actually respond to you lovely ladies when I ship mil out the door tonight.

vix206 · 16/07/2010 15:42

Soo glad its not just me with the no sex thing. And Elusive, you feel guilty after a couple of weeks??! My DH has had to go for 4 months and hasn't complained once bless him! We talk about it a lot though and he has explained that he has been able to kind of pause that side of things (as I have) with the knowledge that once things have all settled down it will be really lovely to discover that side of our relationship again. Which I thought was really lovely

So I'm back in the office but must admit my heart's not in it today. I'm so glad we are going to invest in one of these:

www.birthpoolinabox.co.uk/birth-pool-eco-regular

I kept umming and arring over it but definitely feel it will help me have a successful home birth so we're going to take the plunge (excuse the pun)....

loobyt · 16/07/2010 15:46

Hi all and welcome to the new ladies!

I had another scan yesterday as the placenta was low lying at my 20 week scan. It has, thankfully moved up to where it should be now.

I also found out that we are having a little girl! Best get shopping as all of ds baby clothes are very boyish, shame!

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to seeing home arrivals on here soon!

Alicetheinvisible · 16/07/2010 16:14

Hello Ladies

Looby ooh exciting you're having a girl. Girls are fab (maybe slightly biased of course )

Still having lots of uncomfortable tightenings and saw the MW yesterday (can't remember if i have posted this or not ) anyway, she thinks this baby is likely to make an appearance sometime in the next 10days having gone from not engaged to nearly fully engaged (uncommon for second babies) in a week accompanied by slightly upset tummy, ms returning and the tightenings. Taking this with a pinch of salt though, as there is no real way of knowing til i am in full labour. Getting frustrating the "Is this it?" constantly. Plus i have my house currently turned upside down due to decorating, and have organised a child free afternoon looking in shops and hot chocolate tomorrow afternoon and then dinner out with DD, DH, my dad and his GF tomorrow evening.

Ordered an Agent Provocateur nursing bra in their sale last night, well, DH has got it for me. It is pretty, fushia pink and reduced to £15! I used to always get AP underwear, but after having DD nothing fits from there. Luckliy their nursing bras come in mahoosive

Sex - With DD we were able to a lot, this time it got really uncomfortable around 16wks, but recently not been too bad as long as we are not too, ahem, vigarous about once every week - 2weeks is not too bad really.

pamplem0usse · 16/07/2010 16:16

Hello ladies (and welcome to any new ladies)

Just been shopping to hoover up some of the last things on my to get list!

A bit of advice... my MIL suggested getting a second bathroom bin (we have one for cotton buds and tissues and things) for the babies nappies.... is this a silly expense or a worthwhile thing to do?!!

Will post properly later... off to do a mammoth shop as have five of my friends from my undergraduate days coming to stay.... oh and I have nothing for dinner!

xxx

p.s. We've now got all the messages for Caz's card, ordered the rose and the gardening vouchers and are about to put the charity donation in. We'll be sending everything early next week, at which point I'll either link the pictures of the card / bits and bobs to my profile here, or make them available by some other means!

Alicetheinvisible · 16/07/2010 16:25

Well done organising everything Pample

We got a special nappy bin last time but actually, nappy sacks and straight out into the wheely bin is much easier.

Chulita · 16/07/2010 16:28

vix I've got one I've been meaning to sell if you don't mind a second hand birth pool in a box. I was going to use it for DD but she ended up being an em-cs in the end.

pample some nappies can be pretty smelly, we trot them down to the wheelie bin if they're really bad. We use cloth now anyway so we've got a bucket for them.

alice I'm very of fully engaged baby! It would be better work-wise for me to go overdue but I'm in pain now and just want this baby out!

looby glad your placenta's moved up, good news

thedogwalker I'm the same with sensitive nips, DH was wanting some action but I just can't stand them touched at the mo.

OP posts:
vix206 · 16/07/2010 16:45

Hey Chulita, what accessories have you got with it (if any?) and how much were you looking for for it?

You can email me details if you prefer, if you click here and just email the address as shown on the page because they all come through to me

Or you can get me on Facebook, I am rubbish at remembering who is who on there, and who Facebooks and who does not LOL

Wow baby's giving me a right good kicking this afternoon

vix206 · 16/07/2010 17:06

Ooh but just realised I don't pick up emails over the weekend so Facebook would be better if you are on there?

Think I've just found you so am adding you as a friend now x

ElusiveMoose · 16/07/2010 17:59

Hi all.

Having a pretty good day today - nothing's hurting too much, and I even managed a 20 minute power nap at lunchtime. Plus DH is currently madly hoovering the house .

Welcome, palace. A word of advice - try to make the absolute most of your mat leave that you can. I ended up having 7 weeks off last time, and, like you, I didn't really know what to do with myself. And it's hard when you're not feeling terribly fit and mobile. But it's hard to appreciate pre-children just how much they monopolise your time - in a good way, obviously, but still. You quite literally may not have this much time to yourself again until you've retired and they've left home; and while your children are still young, you get barely any time to yourself at all. So if there are things that you enjoy doing (and can still afford to do and manage to do while 8 months pregnant), then indulge yourself while you can! Here endeth the lesson .

Re bins, I've never found a normal bin all that smelly, really. We just bought a normal Ikea plastic swing-type bin when DS was born, which lives in his bedroom next to the changing table. We use a normal bin bag in it. Wet nappies just go in folded up as they are, and pooey ones go in a nappy sack first. Then, as long as we empty the bin twice a week, we've never had a problem.

babyducky · 16/07/2010 18:19

Hi everyone

Welcome to the new people!

Nothing really happening here, pretty much the same as you alice, I am not seeing midwife till thurs though!

I'm not too fed up yet, still have 4 weeks till due date anyway so not getting my hopes up that it's going to happen any time soon!

I have finished getting everything ready these last few days though just in case! Washed lots more clothes & set the moses basket up & stocked up on nappies & wipes!

With ds we just put nappies into a nappy sack then straight into our normal bin, wasnt smelly really, changed it every night though, will do same this time.

Thanks pample & others who have sorted out the rose & card for caz

Congrats on the girl looby!

Chulita · 16/07/2010 19:53

I just messaged you vix

elusive your DH hoovers?

loobyt congratulations on the little girl news!

We've just decided to start using reusable wipes instead of disposable ones and the mandarin essential oil they came with smells divine. I put some on my bedtime sponge (still have that stupid pregnancy washing up sponge fetish ) and when I go to sleep I just sniff sponge and mandarin...yum!

pample I sent DH and DD off to post the letter so it should be with you tomorrow - hope you'll be in to sign for it!

OP posts:
vix206 · 16/07/2010 20:13

Ooh Chulita we've got reusable wipes too, mandarin oil sounds gorgeous I hadn't decided yet what I was going to use as the cleansing stuff - sounds tempting

Alicetheinvisible · 16/07/2010 20:40

Chulita i do that with the washcloth! I have some lovely Molton Brown shower gel that i could sniff all day.

Getting tightenings every 20 or so mins at the moment. Baby is bound to want to make an appearance tomorrow as i have a lovely day planned. I want it to wait til next weekend though.

Chulita · 16/07/2010 21:44

It's this one, I got sucked in by the little box of tricks and the wet bag they sell. Totally unnecessary cos I'm pretty sure I could've found some little flannels had I looked hard enough!

alice a lovely day planned sounds dangerous! Good luck

OP posts:
sparkle101 · 16/07/2010 21:48

Thanks weehector have been pelvic floor exercising for england today. Fingers crossed.

Elusive my midwife said that as well the other day at the antenatal class that sex is the only proven method - not sure if even that can get me going - ask me again in a couple of weeks.

I cannot believe some of you are due in the next week or two - I am milling around at the end of the month and it seems so far away still.

loobyt congrats on your little girl.

pample please can I add my thanks for sorting the card etc for cazem. Thank you.

Alicetheinvisible · 17/07/2010 04:07

Anyone up? Have managed about 2hrs ish sleep. Had a lovely soak in the bath and a couple of paracetamol before bed, but quite honestly it hasn't helped much. It is not that i am in pain, more just the tightening every 10mins and constant tinglyness means that everytime i manage to drift off i wake up again now eating cheerios from the box - bloody starving!

weehector · 17/07/2010 06:07

Hi Alice

I'm up, amazingly enough. Are these tightenings painful? I'm clueless here...I had to cancel my plans last night & come home as I felt really peculiar. Haven't slept yet and I think I might actually be having distinct & lightly painful irregular contractions here since 3am. More painful that period pains (which I had for a solid spell last night) & I can breathe through them but no pattern to them. You've done this before..what do you think? False labour that could go on for days or even weeks? What page of the book do you think you're at?

weehector · 17/07/2010 06:10

No cereal left but toast & tea at 5am here!

soontobefatnat · 17/07/2010 06:57

Awake too Hector but first timer with no useful advice or insight to give. Hopefully a grown up will be able to weigh in soon!

pamplem0usse · 17/07/2010 07:19

Hehe I've no advice either... am a bit fed up of waking at silly o clock though. Especially at the weekend with DH sleeping (read: snoring) soundly!

weehector · 17/07/2010 07:41

Panic over in Weehectorland. Pains stopped after a bath. Definitely different & more painful than the BH though..will be watching out for them in future.

I don't think we can stand down from baby alert just yet though..looking at FB, Starshaker was in hospital getting steroid injections last night so sounds like the twins may be thinking about an early bid for freedom. They sound like a good size already so that would be ultra exciting.

Alicetheinvisible · 17/07/2010 08:12

Morning again.

Got to sleep about 5.15 ish. Still got pains but contractions have eased off a bit, more irregular here now.

The whole true labour/false labour is a load of bollocks imo. With DD i knew it was labour because they got more painful, but they were still all over the place. I went into hosp because they were very painful (made me cry) and the car journey was almost like one big contraction, but they eased off when there so had to go for a walk, got tired, gave me pethidine, waters went whoosh then solid contractions with no easing off for hours.

i don't want this baby to come til next week when the painting is all finished and house is less fumy.
