Morning girls

Thanks for doing the night-shift ducky and hope you managed to get some sleep weehector

Lots of hugs to pample - hope you have a better day today!

Well, I managed to get to yoga for the first time in weeks yesterday and I'm so glad I did. I adore my yoga teacher! She reckons I'm 'blocking' something or fearful of something, which is why, although I feel ready for this baby to be born, nothing seems to be happening. I was a bit at first, but then when we were doing our meditation, it suddenly struck me. I feel like there's so much pressure on us to have the first girl in the family that I'm fearful of what will happen if it's another boy. Which is ridiculous really, I know that the whole family will be delighted whatever sex this baby is. If it's a boy, it means we can save a fortune in clothing and I can look forward to having 2 adoring, beautiful sons instead of just one and if it's a girl, the family will go mad buying pink and I can look forward to bringing up one of each flavour . So it's a win-win situation. It's so funny, I hadn't really noticed how much of an effect the whole issue had been having on me until yesterday. Think I've pretty much sorted it out in my head now though. I've even decided on names - another huge step forward!

So it's a DVD day for me I think. Need to wait in for a parcel, it's raining outside (hurray!) and ds is in nursery. Time to chill out.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

bouncingblueberries · 15/07/2010 08:03

Oh alice do you think it's the start of something??????

Alicetheinvisible · 15/07/2010 08:18

Morning Blueberries i don't know tbh. It could just be baby engaging, but i kind of have in my head that labour will be the same as it was with DD despite the whole pg being completely different. Had a lot of mucus this morning but not bloody at all (sorry tmi) so really no idea.

WRT to blocking something, i do think relaxing can really help. In labour with DD i had got a bit stressed and wound up and things weren't progressing, they gave me the pethidine to help me sleep and as soon as i relaxed my waters went and things kicked off.

I feel i should be doing stuff today, bit antsy iykwim?

babyducky · 15/07/2010 08:43

Mine are the same too alice, no worse, but no better.
Have had a bath & taken paracetamol so will see what happens.

Dont think I need to ring midwife do I??
With ds my waters went 1st then nothing happened for hours so I'm not sure.

Hope everyone has a good day,

sorry to hear about your nan mrszac,

x

bouncingblueberries · 15/07/2010 08:57

alice I'm exactly the same - convinced labour will follow the same pattern despite a totally different pregnancy.

Like you ducky my waters went first, then contractions started a couple of hours later. I'm having persistent cramping this morning, but then I've been having that on and off for days now.

going to make a courgette cake (nicer than it sounds honest!) then do some sewing I think.

Alicetheinvisible · 15/07/2010 09:09

Just managed to get an appointment with a MW (not my own) this afternoon.

My ms has returned too, so just want a bit of reassurance that all is ok really.

Have started a thread on subsequent labours, so maybe we ccan get some answers!

girlsyearapart · 15/07/2010 09:11

morning all.

I also had waters break both times before I went into hospital so hoping that wil happen this time too - also like you blueberries this has been a totally different pregnancy.

Been having cramps, pains and contractions for ages now- my Mum reckons I'll have the baby on the floor somewhere as I have got so used to all these pains.

Is anyone else paranoid about their waters breaking somewhere really public/inconvenient?

First time mine went on our landing at home second time at mils house on her landing..
Maybe I just need to spend more time on landings

peanutpie · 15/07/2010 09:20

Hi,

Just wanted to say Hello as I've been lurking for a while. However our second baby is due on August 1st and I really need to hang out with ladies in the same situation!

I've got the same thoughts about expecting labour to follow the same pattern. I've been having loads of painful squeezes and tightenings in the last few days but I haven't got the loads of discharge from last time so I'm assuming I have a bit to go yet. Sigh.....I want this baby out. It's hard to walk and I'm pretty fed up now.

I've got a routine mw appt today which I am (as usual) looking forward to and which I'm sure will be a complete anti-climax (as usual again!)

Alicetheinvisible · 15/07/2010 09:46

Yes GYA completely oblivious the first time about how much they 'go' so i am much more paranoid this time

cazzybabs · 15/07/2010 09:52

With dd1 my waters broke when I was in established labour, dd2 was born in her sac and dd3's waters were broken to try and induce labour - ha ha!!!

Aussieng · 15/07/2010 09:52

Morning all. Also having slight cramping contractions but a hot bath with some bubbles seems to sort it all out. [still in denial that I could be having a baby this week]

Pample - that's crap about the van driver. Thing like that bring out the primitive in me - I would just want to lamp him! I think some people are just naturally inclined to pick on people they perceive as vulnerable - heavily pregnant women being part of that group.

Well the nursery furniture deliverers are here - arrived at 8.30 am this morning. I was still in bed since our house guests were still up at 3 this morning and while I had gone to bed at 11.30 could not sleep. So had to jump out of bed, get dressed in last nights clothes and feel totally scuzzy and unkempt. To top it off DH had not moved an item of furniture out of the nursery and buggered off to work as soon as the furniture deliverers turned up so I had to deal with that myself (while my guests played on the internet!) and I'm now frazzled. To top it off I think they have brought the wrong wardrobe but they have banished me from the nurserey while they assemble so I can''t tell for sure and I'm not sure I have the energy to tell them to take it away again and have to wait another 6 weeks for the correct one.

Oh god - that was quite a rant sorry. But I am frazzled and stressed and just want my house back to myself (I'd happily even kick my husband out for a couple of days right now). I do not want to have the baby at the moment because I want to get back to a calm relaxed state which I am so not right now.

Dogwalker - that is such a good idea about the aromatherapy etc. At the hospital I will deliver at about half of the MW's are trained in massage and aromatherapy which is such a good idea. I'm very impressed (to date) with how progressive the Notts NHS trust is with regard to pregnancy/labour choices etc but it does not seem to be that typical.

Blueberries, I know how you feel. My in-aws are very excited about us having a boy but my parents would have preferred a girl and I know when we have no.2 they will really want a girl and even worse they will have an expectation that we will really want a girl too. For some reason the theought of them thinking that I would be disappointed with another boy upsets me more than them wanting a girl IYSWIM but I think 2 boys are lovely. Boys should have boy company i my view. All of the nicest men that I know have brothers.

Welcome Peanut pie.

Aussieng · 15/07/2010 09:55

It is the wrong wardrobe and 4 out of the seven items ordered are being delivered next week (apparently)

pamplem0usse · 15/07/2010 09:55

Thanks for all the supportive messages; feeling much better today!
Blueberries well done on the yoga, I've slacked off mine recently as I feel a bit..... unbalanced! DH bought me some Blue Rays to watch. Unfortunately he's broken my rule about no more films in which kiddies die until at least post birth and has come up with 'El Orfanato' (The Orphanage).... which is a brilliant film but bloody scary and with dead children! So maybe I'll just paint my fireplaces instead!
peanutpie welcome and have a lovely midwives appointment!
Alice hope you feel better soon.... MS is bloody annoying at any stage, but I imagine especially so with baby arrival imminent(!).....
Have a lovely day all, I promise to be less moany!

Alicetheinvisible · 15/07/2010 10:01

Aussie all that would stress me out too.

Hello Peanut

I don't feel mentally ready for this baby yet, too much to do, but physically i have had enough! I just wish i knew exactly what date this baby would come!

To do before i pop:

Get house looking halfway decent
Get Dining room painted and new bookcase put in
Deal with furniture bloke about my bathroom cabinet (long story, but feel i need pregnancy wrath on my side)
Repaint bathroom cabinet (want a job doing, do it yourself!)
Clear out our pit of a bedroom
Get baby's crib set up and somewhere for it's clothes to live (in a basket quite possibly!)
Carry on stocking up the freezer.

cazzybabs · 15/07/2010 10:03

So we are having our roof redone at the moment as it has been leaking into our bedroom...last night it leaked again through a different place right on our bed...grhhhhh I am so tired!!!! The roofers were very sorry = a bit of felt had blown up. That is my moan.

And the fact you all seem to be about to go in to labour...august ladies is not here yet...cross those legs

tah2 · 15/07/2010 10:04

Just thought i'd quickly catch up with everyone.

kcoffin i have suffered from really bad heartburn and actually ended up in hospital at one point with really bad chest pains from it, so i symphathise completely. They prescribed me with ranitidine 150mg (along with the usual gaviscon), which have been really good. Apparently my midwife said they are what you are given when your in labour, as they are very effective!

Sorry to hear about your gran mrszac

How exciting baby and alice keep us updated!

I too think this labour will be exactly the same as my previous two. Every time i get lots of BH or pains my dh asks if ive packed a bag yet but i keep telling him i will do it once ive had my show - cos then i know its realy happening. I realy dont want to go overdue and have therefre convinced myself that if i pack now i will defo go over - crazy i know!!!

Alicetheinvisible · 15/07/2010 10:13

Cazzy doubt i am having this baby anytime soon, think it is just the start of the end you know, but because DH is away today and i have had two days of this, makes sense to see the mw.

Tah i have been telling myself the same, hosp bag is basically packed (mostly after having to stay in at 28wks) but i think, "once i have had my show, then i can finish packing, will have loads of time"

Oh great, boobs are leaking now...

NichyNoo · 15/07/2010 10:17

Hello ladies

Sorry I've not posted for a while. I've tried to catch up with all the gossip! Don't think I've posted since Cherry had her baby!

I finish work tomorrow (37 weeks) - yay!!!! It is far too hot here in Belgium and I'm sooo uncomfortable all the time. Baby is extremely active (although seems to be resting today) and seems to want to try to exit through the side of my tummy...I constantly have a little foot poking out of me!

Seeing doctor next week for Strep B test (which is mandatory here) so hopefully will find out if baby is still head down.

My pelvis and groin are also really hurting too but don't think I have had any contractions...although tbh I wouldn't know if I had having never given birth before!!

Hope you're all OK....we're on the home stretch now

neenz · 15/07/2010 10:44

Aussie how annoying about the furniture.

Welcome peanutpie.

BB, that's really interesting about the 'blockage'! Ina May Gaskin talks about that quite a lot in her book and says any concerns/fears etc can really affect labour and birth. I find it all fascinating, how the mind affects the body - makes sense though doesn't it

weehector · 15/07/2010 12:17

I wonder if this is us starting to roll out the babies. I'll not mention anyone by name to avoid the pressure but it definitely is starting to feel that a few of us are in or approaching early labour. Good luck, y'all!

Aussie sorry to hear of the nursery mix up & delay. Just when we need to start ticking things off. Big deep breathes but no Rocky moves unless absolutely necessary.

blueberries courgette cake, yum. I have a brilliant Rachel Allen recipe for this, my ILs love it & they'll be round this avo...I may well be a copy cat, thanks for the idea.

The headline in today's Weehectorland Echo is 'Weehector in Full Night's Sleep Shocker!'. I'm beside myself with joy - the birds are singing & I can smell the roses again. It feels utterly wonderful..but I guess 3 months of no sleep except 4hr snoozes will do that to you. No plans today so going to try and have a lovely, easy, pottering about day to myself.

soontobefatnat · 15/07/2010 12:59

Aussie - God, that is so rageworthy! How infuriating. Try and breathe deeply. It's so annoying when companies can't things done properly - esp furniture, where there's already a big delivery/installation rigmarole anyway...

Like Hector, I am now rubbing my hands with glee that we may have some babies on their way. In an ideal world, I would get a bag of popcorn, put my feet up and monitor the thread like a hawk. Instead, I am still at work (not for much longer) and people keep giving me stuff to do. Leave the fat, pregnant lady be!

Emster30 · 15/07/2010 13:11

Great news about the good night's sleep weehector! You must feel fab!

Welcome peanutpie! Interesting that you mention discharge - mine has really stepped up a gear in the last few days, including what I thought might have been a bit of a show yesterday (though there was no blood in it). 10 days today until my due date...

nichynoo I also have a foot poking out of my side permanently - it's always the same place which is a little tiresome as it's getting a bit sore now! I guess the baby has no more room to move.

peanutpie · 15/07/2010 14:05

Thanks for all your hello's

Emster - I definitely had increased discharge for about a week beforehand last time. It seemed really obviously that 'something' was happening!

Been for my mw appointment and am feeling the usual dissatisfaction. I think it is because I just want to know when and how the birth is going to be. Clearly I'm not going to get this information. However I should be grateful that eveything is fine and she'll see me in two weeks which'll be a couple of days of the due date...

The impatience of late pregnancy is a little talked about sympton!

girlsyearapart · 15/07/2010 14:16

nichy same here with the sideways baby bits- not sure if it's a foot but it's always same place and blimmin uncomfortable.

DH and dd2 both not well. Cannot actually cope with DH moaning about this cold much more! It's along the lines of 'I couldn't sleep last night/don't have the energy to do anything' etc etc.. Well try being 9 months pregnant then! Thankfully he has stopped trying to pass it off as flu as realised that was not being met with a happy reaction and has gone off in the taxi.

marzipananimal · 15/07/2010 14:49

welcome peanutpie, your name really makes me want a snickers! I'm with you on the impatience - people keep saying 'not long to go now' (5 weeks) and I feel like saying 'how would you like to be this large, uncomfortable, achy and exhausted for 5 weeks!' (not to mention desperate to meet your baby)

aussie very for you about the delivery. Why can't these things just go smoothly? The incompetence of companies never ceases to amaze/infuriate me!

I need some shopping advice. I've been traipsing around town today looking for nighties for the hospital - criteria being: cheap, dark coloured, comfy and front buttoning. I couldn't find any. Looked in H&M, New Look, M&S, Tesco, BHS, Bon marche and C&M. Any suggestions. Would it work for breastfeeding purposes to have one that doesn't button but is quite low cut and stretchy so you can just hoik a boob out the top to feed?
