Alice, I've not been out having a lovely day We had a viewing of the house at 5 so it was a hot-as-hell day of housework and frantically trying to get the cot set up and the nursery finished before they came. Exhausted now, but happy we got it all done and fingers crossed for the viewing as it was her 2nd one and she says its between us and 1 other house.

Alicetheinvisible · 11/07/2010 20:32

Ok Vix i will let you off fingers crossed!

bouncingblueberries · 11/07/2010 20:58

alice I sometimes wake up with that feeling - it's a weird one isn't it?

Emster30 · 11/07/2010 22:25

I would like to go next please... my original due date by my LMP is 18 July, but was redated by a week at my scan. However then the baby was too big for the nuchal scan at 13+6, and measuring a week ahead at my 20-week scan. So by that I would be 39 weeks today, not 38 weeks!

Don't feel particularly like I'm going to go at any time though.

thecoffeelady · 11/07/2010 23:28

We went to a family BBQ today which was 1 1/2 hours away, a little too far away from home for my liking but it was a lovely day. I now have cankles from sitting in the sun all day. Everyone else was knocking back Pimms and wine all day while I drank water like there was no tomorrow. DD got a bit hot and sticky, she is a little english rose bless her.

I am off to bed in a mo, I am hoping that as it is late and I am totally knackered I may sleep.
Last night I was too hot and even with a fan I couldn't sleep, I can't get comfy. If I lie down my SPD hurts or I get dizzy. I gave up at 4:30am and just got loads of pillows and sat up in bed thinking of the things I need to do. I got to sleep about 5:30 and was awake at 8. Oh well not long to go now....

weehector · 12/07/2010 01:59

Lo ladies

Pample lovely words, well done. Can I add my thanks too for those that have taken the time to organise...love the coffee & cake idea as well - will be an emotional day for CazEm.

Coffeelady boo for 4.30am. I was ironing & watching telly at 4.30am this am...I've become practically nocturnal now, today's sleep came between 1pm-5pm this avo. I was hoping that the HypnoBirthing relaxation exercises might help but no joy yet.

Emster Will start cheerleading for you to go soon. It's all such an imprecise science isn't it? I've a feeling these next few weeks are going to seem like an eternity now I've finished the Stieg Larsson Trilogy and I've finally finished shopping for everything I need for the baby - my last few nights have been spent bidding on eBay for a sling & a changing bag (a new Lin & Leo one, feeling slightly indulgent already before it even arrives but looking forward to sniffing the leather..). I've also developed a nightly habit of calculating stats on how long I've got to go - as of midnight, I'm 98.8% of the way there to being term at 37 weeks (when I can turn left at the maternity hospital to the MLU) & 91.4% of the way towards EDD of 5th August (MW is working to this date but dating scan suggested 7th August). Sad I know.. Hoping that a pretty full rota of nights out & family & friends coming to stay & hopefully ticking off a few grooming tasks over the next 10 days will pass the time even if it means a week of changing beds for everyone & cooking/baking.

MW tomorrow so can't wait to see if she thinks there's been any progress. Despite the shooting fanjo pains & my intuition that things are softening inside, I'm guessing I have weeks yet.

Chulita · 12/07/2010 07:58

Morning all!

Today would be a good day for something to start - I slept so well. I'm not trying to rub it in anyone's face, it's just so unusual! Still, I've decided not to try anything to get this LO out, DD was 2 weeks late so to hope for a 38 weeker is a little optimistic.

DH has arranged for MIL to come and stay from tomorrow, she was wanting to stay til Monday but I made slightly negative murmurings - we have a small house and any guests are just underfoot. Not to mention that MIL is very controlling of DD - tries to spoonfeed her everything breaks biscuits down into tiny pieces and feeds her one by one, hovers over her when she's playing, stops her from doing anything adventurous...drives DD mad - she's 19 months, not a baby! And gets me frustrated watching her wind DD up!

Hope all of you who aren't sleeping well get the chance to catch up during naptime

bouncingblueberries · 12/07/2010 08:29

Morning!

Well, despite being awake between 2am and 4am I actually feel quite rested today

Was all geared up for finishing the kitchen today but the sofa is far more tempting at the moment. Had a lovely afternoon yesterday with all our NCT friends - even the kids were relatively well behaved! Had a sneaky glass of Pimms - it was so lush! Could have downed the jug

But everyone reckons I'm looking far too comfortable for this baby to make an appearance any time soon, so I'm going to stop with the obsessing and just let nature take it's course. Clary sage baths and lots of sex seem to have had no effect so far, so I may as well catch up on Desperate Housewives!

Enjoy all your visitors weehector

emster fingers crossed you go soon!

Emster30 · 12/07/2010 08:59

Love the stats weehector!

My MIL was asking DH on the phone last night whether the baby had engaged yet, and I said I didn't know - she apparently said I would definitely know if it had. Do any of you second-timers know if that's true? On Friday I had a whole day of niggly pains like the baby's head bouncing off my pelvic floor, which I've just read may be a sign. Plus I've just put some jeans on this morning as it's a bit cooler and I can't do them up at all, perhaps indicating the bump has dropped? Hard to say!

thedogwalker · 12/07/2010 09:20

Good morning all

Emster I will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope thing move along quickly.

I too have had the feeling that the baby's head is bouncing off my pelvic floor and the BH have been constant this weekend, but as I still have 34 days to go before my due date, I just think it's my LO getting more comfortable .

Well I am really annoyed this morning, sorry to rant, but a few weeks ago I got a call from the Health Visitor department, who told me that my HV would be visiting me at 0930 hours on Monday the 12th and I was not given any option, just that date and told to be waiting. Well it is now 1015 hrs here in Germany and guess who has not shown up yet
.

I just think it is so rude. First I'm not given any option as to the appointment, date or time and now she cannot even be bothered to show up!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a better start to their Monday morning than I am.

ta ta for now

cazzybabs · 12/07/2010 09:29

thedogwalker - I dislike my HV....I try and avoid her at all costs!

Thank god it is cooler today...but I think it is going to rain. Am taking dd2 for a haircut today...fun fun fun!!!

marzipananimal · 12/07/2010 09:31

how annoying dogwalker, I hate waiting in for people who don't turn up/are late

I've woken up this morning with really stiff and sore hips - I'm finding it's not comfy to only be able to sleep on my sides

I changed my friend's 10 week old son's nappy yesterday. I'd never done a boy before but think it is actually easier than a girl. Trying to persuade dh he should get some practice in before our LO arrives!

It's wet and cool today!

pamplem0usse · 12/07/2010 09:37

Sorry I haven't had chance to post this weekend, I've been reading though and adding names to initials. Now we only have one AWOL donator - NK. And I've added your message Vitapulchra.
Will try and find time to write some more personal messages to you all later.... dogwalker hope your HV turns up very soon!xxx

Emster30 · 12/07/2010 09:41

How annoying dogwalker! Hope she turns up soon.

Poncherello · 12/07/2010 11:30

Morning!

Everything sounds so well thought for Caz - thank you for taking charge and making it happen ladies.

weehector - you are brilliant - you should write for a living (or maybe you do I remember you were freelancing at a creative agency?)

It was my birthday yesterday and along with 7 family members we had posh afternoon tea at a lovely hotel in the country. It all became a bit chaotic with paramedics being called for my Mum's partner having a diabetic blood sugar episode - meanwhile my Aunt arrived and twisted her ankle and DD managed to eat some cake with peanuts on the top before we could stop her. Luckily they sent x3 which meant everyone was taken care of perfectly and all are well now ...

Today is the first day of maternity leave and I have already ticked a few things off the list. As our due dates are all spaced out on the thread and you're all so much more organised I keep getting into a panic through lack of things done and then realise I do have 5 or 6 more weeks to go!

BBB I could so easily down some Pimms too, either that or a glass of very chilled Hoegarden. Instead it's water water water water water ... boring.

vix206 - good luck with the viewing - hope your house wins!

ElusiveMoose · 12/07/2010 11:55

Poncherello that sounds like a seriously stressful day - impressed that you're taking it in your stride.

Dogwalker hope your HV turned up. Bloody rude. Especially as it was probably her first or maybe second appointment of the day, so no excuse for delays, really.

Emster I'm not sure it's that obvious when the baby engages. MW told me last visit that tihs one had started to engage, and in retrospect I had been having a bit less heartburn and a bit more low-down pain/movement, but I wouldn't have noticed unless she'd said it. With DS, the only reason I suddenly realised that the baby had engaged was that I sprouted a million stretch marks practically overnight . I only ever got them on the bottom half of my bump, not the top.

Chulita my MIL is exactly the same with DS (who's 2.9!), especially with the spoonfeeding. Annoying, isn't it!?

Well, I've had a nice morning. Went to our monthly local toddler group coffee morning and ate cake and chatted. This will probably be my one and only coffee morning with no kids at all, as DS is at pre-school - bliss! Just found out that VW won't have the part for my car until next Tuesday (the saga continues....), which is very irritating, so I'm just hoping I don't have the baby before then . Oh, and the house is unbelievable today - they're putting the stairs and the windows in, so you can imagine the noise and dust!!! I've already promised DS the Jungle Book when he gets home, as the chances of him going for a sleep are absolutely nil!

vix206 · 12/07/2010 12:30

Emster, I'm a first-timer but I can tell you that I felt no difference whatsoever when the baby dropped and he is 1/5 engaged (which the midwife explained means he is actually 4/5 in my pelvis with 1/5 above the pelvis - very confusing) so he is pretty low down.

Shape of bump hasn't changed, still feeling same amount of bladder pressure and movement hasn't changed either.

Not see how you are supposed to know? My mum said 'you'll see your bump will be lower' - but it really isn't!

thedogwalker · 12/07/2010 12:33

Hello

Happy birthday for yesterday Poncherello. How hectic!!!! And welcome to the world of maternity leave

All this talk of Pimms and wine, oh yes please, I cannot wait for my first chilled drink. Glass of Rose champagne please and then I'll be off my head (cheap date emoticon)

Well the HV never showed up. So I rang her boss and made a complant. Funnily enough she then rang me 10 minutes later to talk about mix ups and new staff etc . She has re-arranged for next Monday. She better show up. Anyway, with sitting around waiting for the HV, I finally got around to doing the one and only thing that I hadn't yet got around to doing. Yippee I've finally done my Birth plan.

Now I can truly put my feet up as everything is done. 34 days to go to my due date and all is ready

Elusive I hope your car problems get sorted soon.

Well that's me for now, off to do my hypnotherapy CD, before going to my last ante natal class later this afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Dibbydab · 12/07/2010 12:51

Hello girls, am now officially on maternity leave (after being on holiday last week), feels no different apart from getting paid less (booo!)

Midwife has just been to discuss home birth plan - I think she's great and really hope she is the one to deliver this baby. Practical, down to earth, good sense of humour (sounds like I'm writing a lonely hearts ad!) Felt a bit strange wben she said to me now I was 37 weeks I was considered full term and they'd have no objections to delivering at home eek! Have scan this afternoon, just to double check head is down (though she has put 4/5 on my notes, so I think this is just a formality).

Have finally ordered the moses basket mattress off an Ebay shop for £7 including postage - bargain, since basket and stand were £20 from local charity shop in excellent condition.

Must get on with reading my hypnobirthing book - have been listening to CD's but keep falling asleep before the end - not sure if this is good or bad?!

Keep looking at baby grows up and thinking "oooh, that's so cute and tiny", then holding it against my bump and thinking "bloody hell that's huge, there's no way I can squeeze that out!" must be some weird law of physics that makes it change size.

Off for a brisk walk waddle around the park with the dog in vain attempt to stop myself lounging around on sofa stuffing face with mint choc chip ice/biscuits.

x

Alicetheinvisible · 12/07/2010 13:03

Dibby that is exactly what i do! Awwww, look how tiny, jesus that is huge!

Emster and Vix everyone always has an opinion on the shape of your bump and what it means. With DD i saw my aunt (who i don't really get on with)a week before she was due and she said to me "That baby won't be coming out for another month yet" er, actually they only let you go 14days over, so will be having this baby within 3weeks. She would have none of it! There was no way she would accept that the baby would be here soon, despite the fact DD had been head down and engaged from 28weeks. DD was born a day late (only because of a very long labour) silly old bint!

I am finding it really difficult to get comfy on my side at night now, tend to get a dead hip. Keep waking up on my back.

Chulita · 12/07/2010 13:03

poncherello what a day! Glad everyone's alright now and I hope you still managed to enjoy your birthday!

dibbydab that's great that you're all set for a home birth and that you like your mw.

emster I could never tell with DD whether she was engaged or not. The mw didn't say anything this time either but then they can pop in and out on subsequent pregnancies anyway so I doubt it would matter. With this one he feels really low down but at the same time is tucked up under my ribs. I suppose that's what I get for being short

elusive your MIL still tries spoonfeeding at 2.9?! Why?? Mine told me she fed hers pureed carrot and mashed banana at this age that would explain quite a bit about DH...

thedogwalker thanks for reminding me, I need to rewrite my birth plan!

As much as I'm ready to stop being pregnant now, it would be better if LO would hold off til next week. DH has got loads of work on this week and of course MIL's going to be here til Monday. After that my mum's going to be 'on call' which would be far nicer. I'd rather not have anyone around at all while I'm in labour but since everyone lives so far away, someone has to be here to watch DD when it kicks off.

pamplem0usse · 12/07/2010 15:04

Hello lovelies,

Finally time to write a proper message, but first let me have a bit of a winge?

Oh and mega long post warning!

(1) at the local NCT branch who sent out their newsletter with insufficient postage. As a result I trekked into town (30 minute round walk) wondering who?d sent me something exciting (but without enough postage!) paid up my £1.30 and then got the bloody newsletter.
(2) at home delivery network who managed to leave my baby bjorn carrier in our front garden in full view of anyone walking past (their so called ?safe place? was in front of my window!) and as a consequence someone has scarpered with it. Boo.

Next for the chirpier bit!

LittleMiss hope you?re feeling better soon and baby moves? getting the nursery sorted is mucho fun though, right?!

Alice great advice about hydration levels. I also found that the tiredness I?d been putting down to my anaemia is likely to do with being dehydrated; sat at a cricket match all day yesterday and sipped constantly, voila, much less tired!

Lizzie I almost jumped for joy when I looked out of the window this morning to see rolling grey clouds. Unfortunately they seem to have burnt off, but it?s supposed to be a cooler week so maybe I?ll get some swimming in the lido in before the Schools close for the holidays and it becomes a pregnant-ladies free zone (by virtue of all the kiddies jumping in without looking!)

Chulita mucho impressed on the cleaning front. Do you fancy doing my house?! DH is buggering off for the weekend because I?ve got my old undergrad girlfriends coming to visit but so much needs to be done before then. My NCT tutor was advising against pregnant ladies hoovering. Unfortunately she couldn?t come up with a reason why I couldn?t do the ironing?.

pamplem0usse · 12/07/2010 15:05

Elusive so sorry about all your car trouble. I?ll keep my fingers crossed that baby hangs on in there at least until it?s all sorted (and maybe until the messy jobs on your loft conversion are done?! ? maybe hoping too much!!)

Tah feet up lovely! I painted our nursery about three weeks ago and crikey? I couldn?t manage it now. Mucho impressed though. We?ve a cupboard (large walk in) off the nursery and as we?re having new carpet put down I really need to paint in there before its done?. Keep.Putting.Off though! I?ve also heard the Barley water thing that Cherry suggested ? apparently any flavour will do if you don?t like lemon!

Girls I can?t have raspberry leaf tea because of the anaemia. Anyone prepared to tell me it does bugger all to make me feel better?!

Emster congrats on the 38 weeks (jealous look!)

Vix I?ll keep my fingers crossed about the house for you. I?m sure it?d be a bit crazy if it did sell now, but at least you could start planning for your future home for all three of you ☺

Coffeelady get some rest for goodness sake!!! I know easier said than done with your business to run and your little one?. And the sleeping difficulties, but at least try and put your feet up for a bit!

Blueberries I?m amazed you?re managing the sex bit of encouraging baby out at all?. That said I think my DH is hoping that our LO will be late as it?s his only hope of getting any any time soon!

Poncherella bloody hell. Well done for sounding so serene?.

Cherry - impressed you're getting on here at all with three to manage! Loved your piccies of you and little Corey on FB... he's gorgeous!

Has anyone come across HayBaby? Lovely lady there is making me some bespoke drawstring bags for the nursery (more decoration that practicality if you get what I mean)? thought I should mention her as the stuff is lovely and not silly money?.. and she made me my bags for the cost of the standard ones? bless!

And that, my dears, is the end!

Poncherello · 12/07/2010 15:16

Argh Pample I'm so angry for you - what evil thieving gits to steal your delivery (!)

The paramedics really were very very nice ... luckily everyone was absolutely fine and we could all see the funny side ... might not arrange anything for my birthday next year ...

Alicetheinvisible · 12/07/2010 15:51

Pample for thieving buggers! Is the outdoor pool still open in town? Used to go after school. RL tea, can you not have it if anemic? I was badly anemic last pg and still had it, no one told me, started having it this time too although only borderline this pg. Must look that up!
