Hi everyone!

My husband and I recently found out on an early dating scan (like, very early, 5+ weeks) that we are expecting twins. We're being re scanned in 2 weeks time to confirm, but I'm wondering if anyone else is expecting twins. It's our first pregnancy so we're abit in awe of the thought, but wouldn't it be good to start a thread on twins so we could exchange advice, support etc. Looking forward to hearing from you! x

Hi all,
I had another scan today and both babies still there and doing well. I'm now 8 + 3 weeks, and due date is end of May although I'm guessing that as their MoDi that I'll really be looking at the beginning of May. It was such a relief as I'd got myself all in a state about vanishing twin syndrome, and had pretty much convinced myself there'd only be one in there.
Been reading all your advice and it's great to hear what's to come!
Thanks

smokeybacon · 21/10/2010 20:58

Thanks myfourgirls. sounds exactly what I had. It went away when I rested so I also wonder if it's an indication when you are doing too much. I shall take your advice tho and immediately lie down if it happens again!

MyFourGirls · 22/10/2010 08:06

think you're right smokey - there's not much else other than a stabbing pain in my belly that will make me lie down and rest! tricky with two other children - maybe nature's way! Smile

sassy34264 · 22/10/2010 08:09

Forgot to say that I added some pics to my profile page- including one of Jacob smiling. When I manage to catch one of Isobel, I will add that too. :)

Amberc · 22/10/2010 08:32

Your kids are gorgeous Sassy and wow so are you - what a hot mama!!

Cerubina · 22/10/2010 08:32

They're gorgeous Sassy! I love seeing pictures of twins.

Really pleased for you Snowball - it sounds as if you've had a very nerve-wracking few weeks but getting past 8 weeks with them both there is excellent and hopefully it will be plain sailing for you now.

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 22/10/2010 09:23

Lovely pictures Sassy! So lovely when they smile, melts your heart!

Glad everything is ok Snowball

Am counting today as officially half way 18+3 yay!!

Hello every1! just 2 continue from bogwoppits post (thanx sis) - i have indeed had the twins! was a bit of a shock - went in on fri eve 4 some checks after i had some brown bleeding. they decided 2 keep me in as i needed a second steroid jab 4 babies lungs in morn. i had that, went to get dressed & waters broke. so spent all day being monitored & waiting 4 a theatre slot 4 a c-section! in the end zoey was born at 17.45 weighing 5lb 5 & lucas at 17.46 weighing 5lb 1! both in special care at the mo, i have expressed them some colostrum & hopefully i will get up 2 see them later...

smokeybacon · 24/10/2010 18:41

Oh my goodness. More babies!! Congrats strawberrylace.Hope you and your little ones are ok and they will be out of SCBU soon. But they are good weights! Keep us posted on progress. XXX

Amberc · 25/10/2010 09:30

strawberrylace congrats - great names! Hope they are out of SCBU soon hun x

tabbycat76 · 25/10/2010 09:53

Fantastic news strawberrylace but my word how scary!! Don't think anyone would expect to deliver quite so early but so happy for you that all is well. And what great weights!!!! Love the names too! :) Keep us all posted on how they're (and you of course) are doing.

Not been on here for ages now.... but glad to say we're all fine. The babies are growing nicely and wriggling away. Somersaults inside feel soooo weird and I'm only 23 weeks! Wonder how it'll feel in a few weeks time when they're so much bigger!!!!!

Hope everyone else is well and welcome to the newbies - so many people on here now and so good to hear how people are getting on!

Ooooh had some great news. My C section has been approved on my health insurance so I can go to the Portland!!!

Jenzopos · 25/10/2010 17:16

eek both babies refusing to turn! Im following the exercises on spinning babies but no luck so far. Currently upset as doc was very pushy about the cs and was acting like id already agreed to it...what i really want is informed CHOICE! I kinda freaked out and bp shot up (though i think i have white coat syndrome as its always fine with my midwife but higher when at hospital! rescan in 2 weeks (though im 35+6 now...hoping the babies can still turn.....arrrgghh!

Jenzopos · 25/10/2010 17:19

estimate weights of my girls at 35+2 was 6lb 8......no wonder my belly is sooo huge!

Cerubina · 25/10/2010 18:36

Hope you can get at least one of them to turn then Jenzopos, I am sure it's not easy for them at this stage but I'll be the same about wanting to avoid a cs if I can so keep persevering. The girls are excellent weights though, well done you!

Good news Amber, get you going to the Portland!

Congratulations Strawberrylace and I hope the babies are doing well so you can take them home very soon.

In nipplewatch, mine are still agony! Bought a couple of new bras at the weekend and they haven't made it any better [hsad]. It feels like they are being sanded, owwww.

Snowfalls108 · 25/10/2010 19:03

Jenzopos I managed to get DS to turn at 38 weeks by lying on the bed with a pillow under my bum and holding an icepack on the top of my bump - it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen, it was also very painful as he moved, but my consultant was very impressed. There was only 1 of him in there though!

Congratulations *Strawberrylace" - sounds like it was all a bit of a shock.

I had my booking in appointment today, which was exhausting with DS charging around everywhere. Must make sure I arrange for him to visit friends for future appointments. Having him on my lap while I had bloods taken was not a lot of fun.

The eating continues - at the moment I'm loving cheddar on toast. mmmmmmmmm.

Lavitabellissima · 25/10/2010 21:28

Congratulations Strawberrylace great weights and I'm sure they'll be out of SCBU soon. I also love the names [hsmile]

jenzopos amazing weights for twins! you are doing so well. Hope you get to have a vaginal birth if thats what you want, where there's a will there's a way! good luck [hgrin]

Sassy I agree, you look great!!

Amber Does your insurance cover everything? I have been doing a bit of research as the vast majority of policies although they cover c section for medical reasons you are only partially covered.
I have just had mine approved too (Bupa) and am going to Queen Charlotte's and i've picked Dr Wimalasundera the twin specialist but it will cost approx £1600 obviously much cheaper than normally going private but still a big cost all the same. SCBU there is NHS so if the babies do end up in there there will be no additional costs. If your insurance doesn't cover your children at the Portland your charges will be 2k per baby per day if they end up in the SCBU [hshock] Hope you have better coverage than me [hsmile]

I am 33 weeks today so only have 3 weeks to go, feeling huge. I measure 43 inches around my waist if you can call it a waist and my bump measures 39 weeks but that's ok for twins apparently. I can't wait to stop feeling so heavy. My nursery arrives on Thursday, just about to buy car seats online now, I need to buy bedding and wash everything and I'm just about ready, I hope!

Jenzopos · 25/10/2010 22:46

im nearly 36 weeks and im 51 inches around my belly and measure at 48 weeks lol.

been lying upside down on an ironing board with ice packs on my ribs 2-3 times a day for 15 mins.....fingers crossed though its very tight in there now!
