Hi everyone!

My husband and I recently found out on an early dating scan (like, very early, 5+ weeks) that we are expecting twins. We're being re scanned in 2 weeks time to confirm, but I'm wondering if anyone else is expecting twins. It's our first pregnancy so we're abit in awe of the thought, but wouldn't it be good to start a thread on twins so we could exchange advice, support etc. Looking forward to hearing from you! x

Lavita I'm miserable at work today too! Just came back from lunch to find both lifts out of order, and I work on the 4th floor :(

Took me about 10 minutes to climb, rest, and toilet break my way to the top. Been sat here now for 5 minutes and still recovering. Thank god I have a comfy chair and a fan. :)

That aside though, I'm also getting really fed up with work - like I just don't care and can't wait to leave. I'm 28+4 today and leaving at 34, so only 6 weeks to go!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 13/09/2010 14:06

Bless you having to climb all those stairs Swazze
Lavita can you work from home at all?
All being well I plan to quit work at xmas - will be 29 weeks but I may keep my older mindee on until end of Jan.....not sure.....

sassy34264 · 13/09/2010 14:54

Yes, thanks magic- think i will get the babies their xmas prezzies from there now.

lavita I gave up working over a year ago. Got myself in a bit of a state through long hours, shit job and long commute. Was not in a good place. DP said leave, i'll support you and then we decided while i wasn't working we may as well try for a baby, so never went back. (i'm a college lecturer)

If i had have been working though i would probably have stopped at 30 weeks, cos that's when i really began to feel it. I was managing ok until then and then suddenly it became harder by the day. The tiredness hits you full in the face around this time as well.

I finish work on Wednesday. I'll be 29+5. Honestly I couldn't have gone on any longer than that as the stairs I have to go up would have got me. Although I only have 2 flights to go up.

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 15/09/2010 17:52

Happy last day at work Smokey!

Lavitabellissima · 16/09/2010 08:21

Congratulations Smokey at being off work, I am very jealous Envy!

I went swimming on Tuesday and actually feel a lot better for it! back is still sore but not unbearable and I've started sleeping on my own as it's more comfortable, I used to be a really heavy sleeper but now I notice every movement DP makes and I want to hurt him in the night Smile

Amberc · 16/09/2010 09:34

Smokey hope being off work is nice and restful for you.

Lavita - I sleep on my own as I sleep so badly anyway. Now it would be impossible not just for me but the amount of times I wake up in the night would keep DP awake too.

Found a great programme on Home and Health called multiple mums so I am recording them all. Hopefully will give me a bit of help! Got my 20 week (ahem 21 and a half) scan on Monday which I am mega looking forward to. Once that's out of the way I am going to spend spend spend!!! The programme yestererday said you should have everything ready for 28 weeks.

Lavitabellissima · 16/09/2010 12:55

Don't I'm 28 weeks on Monday and all I've bought is the pram Shock Shock

Going to write a big list and really get on with it this weekend, I'm going to the Twickenham Stadium Baby and Toddler show on Sunday though.

I called the antenatal dept today and asked about classes and was told I should have booked these at my first appointment. My midwife should of let me know, she didn't! Luckily they had one cancellation and could squeeze me on.

So I am doing a 1 day NHS antenatal class and a 1 day Tamba multiples antenatal class. Think I've left it too late to get on a NCT course but have been told they are a great way of making friends, so am unsure if I should see if I can get on that too but they are expensive at £250 in my area!

Swazzee · 16/09/2010 13:59

Aaaargh! I'm 29 weeks today and have bought nothing, and done nothing about ante-natal classes either!

Had a GTT test this morning - has anyone else had this? They take blood then you sit for 2 hours before they take blood again. So boring. And to make it worse, one of the ladies had a hyperactive toddler with her - it was seriously making me question the idea of having kids at all! Blush

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 16/09/2010 14:31

hello ladies, think my bump has finally popped out properly everyone looked in shock in the playground this morning Blush I am only 13 weeks.

Swazze get onto tesco direct they have a baby promo on at the mo and loads of stuff is reduced. I bought nappy bin and 2 swaddle blankets (I needed to buy something!)

I had GTT with DD and will have one again this time. The drink isn't that bad, it's just the waiting around for 2 hours that sucks. Mind you I remember feeling pretty ropey afterwards. Did you feel ok after?

How much are the Tamba classes Lavita?

Swazzee · 16/09/2010 14:59

Yes Magic, it was just so boring. And the room was too hot too - imagine putting 8 pregnant women in a hot room for two hours! Torture! Didn't feel anything at all afterwards - not bad or good or anything. Came straight to work and feel fine.

Will have a look at Tesco Direct - I saw the link you posted earlier but hadn't had a look yet.

Congrats on your bump! My mum came round last night and said I'd grown loads since she last saw me a week ago! Mind you, I am 29 weeks so I guess I should be growing!

Lavitabellissima · 16/09/2010 15:39

I've got my glucose test on Monday, I've been told to drink a bottle of original lucozade and then go in for my blood test an hour later. I hate having blood taken Hmm

Tamba classes are £139 for the couple link here if no dates are available email them or call anyway as if they have enough interest they put on extra course, that's how I got on mine. Mine is next Sunday in Chiswick, so I'll let you know how I get on Smile

jjkm glad you're feeling so well! I also had cravings for fruit all through my second trimester, although it's tailing off a bit now. I couldn't get enough of pears and melon!

Swazzee · 17/09/2010 15:29

Oh and congrats on the two girls!! So many girls on the thread - apart from Sassy having one of each, I'm the only one with boys at all so far!

sassy34264 · 17/09/2010 15:30

Umph, i have to do the glucose test (again) as well next week. Because my first was positive and i had GD, they need to test me 6 weeks after the birth to make sure i haven't got diabetes. i read somewhere that 50% of people go on to have it. Even if i haven't got it, i've been told they will test me yearly after that!

Hope you all pass it. x

Amberc · 17/09/2010 15:56

Nobody has mentioned a test to me! Maybe I'm too early but I am the same as jjkm.

Good news on the girls jjkm - another lot! Still we will have a lot in common on the post natal thread!

Swazzee · 17/09/2010 16:53

They refer you for a GTT at the booking in appointment. They only do that if you have a family history of diabetes or a particularly high BMI Blush. Or if you have a history of GD or have had very large babies in the past. If you don't fit any of those criteria I think you wouldn't get referred.

Lavitabellissima · 17/09/2010 22:56

Everyone where I am has to do the glucose test at 28 weeks. I have no family history and have a normal BMI. If that's what GTT is?

I am still being sick and am so fed up of it, sat up so tired but can't go to bed because I know if I lie down I will vomint again Sad so fed up.

holidays2010 · 18/09/2010 15:26

Hi all, been away for a week, caught a horrid cold or something off my little one but we're all better now!

I havent heard of this glucose test either. My midwife did say she wanted to test me for diabetes because my last baby was so big when she was born (4.400kg).

Anyway all is going well, I dont have to make any trips upto the hospital til my 16 week appointment. I'm just hoping my little one will be in school whilst I have the rest of my appts, she was so bored last time I took her!
I'm showing a little bit more now but the bump still isnt quite as obvious as I thought it would be.

holidays2010 · 18/09/2010 15:28

sorry to hear that lavita - I recieved an email saying I should be past the sickness and feel more energetic...how untrue.
I havent had bad sickness but I feel like it when I smell nearly anything remotely 'off' and as for energy, forget it, walking across the house is tiring!

Hope you feel better soon!

Lavitabellissima · 18/09/2010 16:21

Thanks holidays, I haven't been sick today and think that's because I've cut out tomatoes, fingers crossed. Cutting down on portion size too and eating little and often.

On a good note my pram arrived today, I love it Grin need to start buying everything else now Smile

holidays2010 · 20/09/2010 08:13

Got three questions -

A) I'm wondering whether or not to invest in some bio oil - Do you think it's worth the price tag? What would you recommend?

And..

B) At which scan do you think is the best one for taking a photo of the babies? I've already past the 12 week scan but have the 16 week one coming up in about 3 weeks.

And finally...

C) From what stage can they tell the sex of the twins?
My DH does not want to know until they are born but I'm curious and am in two minds about finding out. Just worried in case I accidently let it slip in front of him! :o
